Gasp! I haven't reviewed my go-to place in Winnie! Every time I stay in town I eat here at least once. Food is very good to great, service is good, food comes out fast, AND it's BYOB. We enjoy beers on the patio with dinner, typically, and life is good. Minus one star for styrofoam, which I hate. When I dine in, I should NOT be eating out of styrofoam. The soup gets a real bowl, but other food comes in styrofoam and utensils are plastic. Suuuuuuck. Please up your game on this front, folks! But dang it, everything else is 5 stars. read more

We really enjoyed our meals today at pho Xpress. I could easily give this place five star review but two things in particular really lost in one star. I will go into detail in a minute. The food: I got the combo which was Vietnamese grilled pork along with fried rice, vegetables which was very strange to come in a Vietnamese mail, and two eggrolls. The Vietnamese grilled pork was amazing, it was a little dry but it was still very good and full of flavor. I don't know why they gave a side of vegetables, I would watch rather have two sides of rice. The rice was OK, it was nothing to write home back to Alabama about. The real winner here is the Vietnamese eggrolls. Those were absolutely amazing. They tasted so good and had so much flavor. The cheesecake was also really good as well. The service was great and they did a great job. The loss of one star was the vegetable side instead of rice and also my colleague wanted to add a fried egg but they didn't understand English too well and act like they couldn't add a freight egg to his order. I recommend the banh mi sandwich. The beef pho was so tasty , plenty of toppings. The lady inside was so nice and even came up to me before I left to make sure everything in my bag was arranged properly so nothing would spill. Stop by on my way back to Austin. The place was small and cozy. Price was decent $11 place taxes. I didn't expected vegetables on my Vietnamese meal but it was a welcome sight because I needed to eat more Vegetables . The flavor was very good as you can see by my empty plate. This lifelong urbanite with 30+ years of experience eating Vietnamese food stopped in Winnie of all places to grab some Bun Tom Ngong. It did not disappoint. This is primarily a take out place and it shows. Everything is disposable, even for dine in. This is not why I shaved a star, that was for the small shrimp, albeit they were numerous. Having recently moved to the area we moved away from one of our favorite restaurants in Missouri called Pad Thai, and while this isn't Thai it was worth trying out. We ordered a variety to get a feel for the menu. We ordered a chicken fried rice, a stir fried noodle with chicken, the Pho with shrimp and the vermicelli with Chicken and egg rolls. The egg rolls were very good and hot. We didn't care much for the "fried" dishes, they were yellow and whatever the yellow season is wasn't what we cared for, BUT!!! The vermicelli with chicken was great, it comes with a "dressing" that ties the whole thing together. The pho was great as well and was close to my favorite Thai dish of beef noodle soup. Add the lime, peppers and a little of the sauces and it's perfect. We will definitely try them again. If you go, I recommend the vermicelli and the pho. read more

First stop in Texas, this place has a variety of selection, very fast service, good food and great portion for the price. :) This is probably one of the cheapest pho places I've been to. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

The restaurant is very clean with very friendly staff. The food is amazing. I love the pho there but for people that don't like pho there are plenty of other options, you can't go wrong with the stir fry vegetables and the appetizers are great too. I would recommend the spring rolls or the egg rolls. The food is reasonably priced as well read more

Great food! If you like spicy try the boiled shrimp YUMMY! We've eaten here several times and have had nothing but excellent food. We completely enjoy it. Love that the tea is self serve and it a black tea not green tea, which I'm allergic to. It's quick, great good and always a smiling face to greet you. read more

This would be a very good Vietnamese restaurant in Asian-food-crazy Berkeley, where I live, but in Winnie? Truly amazing! (Snobbery not intended - it's just that Winnie is small and rural.) Visited Winnie for three nights, and ended up eating three times at Pho Express. The grilled chicken in the chicken & rice dish was tender and perfectly spiced, the spices and garnishes fresh. I had that one twice, and really enjoyed one of the vermicelli bowls. Clean, pleasant interior - just a really well-done restaurant serving great food. I see they opened within the past year. This is worth the detour but don't expect much in the way of courteous service. We ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls, beef pho, beef noodles and chicken fried rice. I have eaten plenty of won ton soup in the past half century, and I have to say the won ton soup at this restaurant is really quite good, it would be quite acceptable at a high dollar big city Chinese restaurant. My wife and I ate at Pho Express March 12 & 13, 2018, during a 3 day stay, and twice I enjoyed the combination Pho and Banh Mi sandwich. Our friends liked the mixed vegetables and various Pho bowls as well. Food was made to order, special requests happily honored and service was great. We ordered food to go & my husband wound up waiting over 40 minutes to get our order even though the restaurant was not very busy. The egg rolls we ordered were great - good flavor & right temperature. My husband's beef & broccoli with fried rice also had good flavor & was the correct temperature. My chicken stir fry noodles had great flavor but the dish was not even close to warm. It made us think my order was prepared & then left out on the counter while they cooked the other items we ordered. I'm sure we'd try this place again & I certainly want a local business to be successful but the wait for to go orders should NOT be over 40 minutes & all items in the order should be warm! read more
