Small place with good food and reasonable price. This is by far the best pho In Switzerland compared to 2 others. They have condiments.

Been here in Europe for almost 2 1/2 weeks now and been craving for Pho and happened to bumped into…read morethis resto while walking around town. What a surprise and their Pho is pretty good! Broth was spot on and lots of meat. Simple but very delicious. The papaya salad was so fresh and love the flavor. Service was quick and nice to sit outside the resto. Highly recommend this Pho place when u visit Zurich.

This had good reviews and was located near our hotel so we decided to stop by on a Monday evening…read more They had Vietnamese chefs and also Vietnamese patrons eating so that was a good sign. Service was not overly friendly but efficient. They speak English, German and Vietnamese (maybe more but that's all I heard). We ordered the beef pho and chicken pho, and split the spring rolls which came with four small rolls. The pho was generously sized and I preferred the beef broth over the chicken broth. They automatically give you a small dipping bowl with half Sriracha and half hoisin sauce for your pho meat, which I've never seen before. Toppings (bean sprouts, herbs) came in the bowl instead of on the side as well. Flavor was not exactly what I'm used to in the US but was good enough for what we wanted. Some fish sauce on the table would have been nice, although they did have soy sauce and chili oil. My main issue was the price. 25 francs for a bowl of pho is probably reasonable for Zurich but the most expensive bowl of pho I've ever had. They also charge one franc per cup of tap water which is a bit much in my opinion. Next time I'll just bring my reusable water bottle.

After seeing bun rieu (crab noodle soup) on the menu, I was excited as it's one of my favorite noodle soups! Being in the middle of Europe, I went in with low expectations. The toppings and accompanied veggies and herbs were lacking, but I'd expected it. What I was not expecting was how authentic the flavors were! The broth had that crab and shrimp paste flavors and they even had the authentic soft and creamy crab paste which not too many restaurants get it right. My husband had the bun bo hue, the same dish he had at the other restaurant, Saigon, from 2 nights earlier. He preferred the other restaurant's BBH over at SG. I liked the flavor of the broth at Pho Mai better, but the toppings were better at SG's. Instead of beef shank, Pho Mai used rare beef steak (typically used for rare stead pho). Overall the flavors for both dishes were well done. If they'd just put a little more effort in putting in more toppings (especially for the BBH as it always come with multiple proteins aside from beef slices) it would take this restaurant to another level. But I can understand why they'd cut corners as their menu is quite extensive with many dishes and it seems they're also short-staffed.

Five stars on Yelp are usually a good sign that you are not wrong with your choice. But you should also check that it is not just one person's comment but something broader. Promptly I set my foot in this store, which was to my surprise afterward well occupied, but the buffet and the untidy tables were not very promising. I then sat down at a table of 9, which seemed to be reserved, but no one was interested, and no one came and shortly after that stepped to the all-you-can-eat buffet for 21.- CHF. The selection presented itself in 8 different pots, most almost empty and all somehow looking the same in color. The sauces were all watery, but otherwise, there was not too much to criticize. Drinks, so the idea, everyone takes himself from the refrigerator. When it came to paying, it turned out that the host-cook-buffet-filler-and-cashier in "personal-union" was the only employee on that day. He was very friendly, and for that, I give him an extra star. But otherwise ... not worth more than two stars and indeed not an establishment I would return to.

The name of the place - Viet Thai Restaurant - says it all. It's a mix. Big surprise! No Asian…read morerestaurant can seem to stick to just one cuisine. I'll be back for the Viet part, but the Thai aint so fly. For Thai, you're wasting your time since, within 60-90 seconds walking, you could be at Ah Hua, the downright reigning Thai heavy weight champion in Zürich. The panang was oily and bland; lacking sweetness and fishiness, but the chiffonade of fresh lime leaf was a nice touch. The phat see iu was a big loser with very little flavor. What happened? Spring rolls were average. 'Wan tans' were supposed to be filled but turned up flat. The peanut sauce served slathered over the chicken skewers was homemade, crunchy and delicious. Now for the Viet: The bún was very good! Traditionally served with fried spring rolls, these were extra crunchy thanks to their rice paper wrapper. The ph, looked great in the menu photo and appears to be served with all the trimmings, so I'll be going back to give that a whirl pho sho! Service was slow despite low occupancy but very charming. Prices are standard. Interior is cozy but undistinguished. I have to say... with a competitor like Ah Hua right down the street, differentiation might become essential, as in, ditch the Thai and stick to the Viet.
