The inside is old and dated but there's plenty of seating. Service was unmemorable. Pho/noodle soups are in the $13.95 to $17.95 price range. - Herbs - bean sprouts, cilantro, lemon and sliced chili peppers. Never seen cilantro given before. - Bun bo hue (#30) ($17.95) - didn't detect any lemongrass. Broth lacked depth and complexity. BBH does not come with pork hock or pork blood. - Pho sa te (#37) ($15.95 small) - disappointing. Not a legit sate. Broth was weak, rare beef overcooked and noodles clumped together. Was really happy to have some Viet food while in Kelowna. The pho special was ok, but I did find it to be really quite salty. I would have preferred a richer broth, but otherwise, it was a good portion. The chicken vermicelli was delicious. I enjoyed the grilled meat and the warm vermicelli noodles. Their fish sauce mix is really yummy and vinegary. And they kindly helped us cook the bean sprouts for all the dishes. The pork chop with rice and fried egg was also quite good. My boyfriend and I were really craving soup during our long weekend getaway in Vernon. After scouring Yelp and Google reviews, we settled on Pho Soc Trang to alleviate our appetites. Ambiance wise, Pho Soc Trang is pretty no-frills but we generally don't mind eating at hole-in-the-wall spots. As long as the food is great, I have no complaints. I ordered the large classic house special (my baseline whenever trying a new pho spot) along with an iced coffee and he went for the large spicy rare beef with beef balls. The wait was a solid 15-20 minutes which I thought was long compared to most Vietnamese restaurants, but I attributed it to the long weekend holiday rush. Honestly, I found both bowls of pho disappointing - the noodles were overcooked and the meat was on the gristly side. There was barely any tripe, and the small pieces I found were sliced a little too thinly to add any texture. My boyfriend's spicy broth came with a redder hue but there wasn't a discernible difference from how mine tasted. There was also the addition of broccoli which we both found odd. The broth lacked depth and for their large size, I really thought the portion sizes were a little small. Coffee was pretty standard, nothing exemplary. Hit the spot perfectly. Looking for a light lunch for myself ne a colleague in town for a couple fo days on business. I had the special pho, a small size, which was a welcome respite as when travelling I really do t need a mountain of food for every meal! Tasty, simple and well made. We were in town to visit our friends. I had a craving for some photo so we decided to hit up this place. Ambiance: 1980s decor. You-are-here-for-food ambiance. Staff service: Good. The server is prompt to answer any question we have and our water gets refilled frequently. Servers were quick to respond to our needs. Taste: husband ordered the #30 Bun Bo Hue ($12) with round noodles and I ordered #74 The 4 Colour Bowl ($15). BBH: the bean sprouts came cooked, basil is fresh, lemon wedges instead of lime were provided. The broth has more spicy taste than flavour. The round noodles were over cooked and were way too soft. Meat amount: comes with 3 slices of Viet ham, some beef balls, some slices of beef. No innerds (disappointed on that one). 4 Colour bowl: Noodles were cooked nicely. The meats were slightly overcooked. Meat lacks the usual flavours. The spring rolls are nice and crunchy. The sauce provided was more salty than sweet/flavoured. Portions: BBH lacks meat compared to pho places in Vancouver. Noodles were about the same amount as other places. 4 colour bowl: Spring rolls are skinner than other pho places. Meat is less than average. Price: Expensive compared to Vancouver, but there are not too many competition in Kelowna. Price is reasonable for okanagan area. The BBH is ok in price, but the bun is way too expensive for what I get. Overall: Given there are not too many Pho choices here, I will likely come back. However, if I compare to pho places in Vancouver, this place will make it to one of my top 30. read more

My friend found this place as we were looking for a place to eat as we were leaving Kelowna. It satisfied the craving and hunger. Would not say that this is the best place I've been to. Ordered the salad roll. Although there was shrimp, it felt like there was none. Had pho, #24, fish balls were ok. Tripe was small in size and only a few pieces. Noodles and soup were just ok. Service was good. The servers were quick to bring out basil that was forgotten with our bean sprouts. Quick again when we asked for more basil. Went here for lunch yesterday. Wish I'd left after we got a whiff of the place--immediately upon entering, there is a very strong odor of urine. It's not an unfamiliar odor, being in downtown Kelowna. Placed my order and upon receiving it, was very underwhelmed. The menu is very unclear as to what the dish consists of, other than the options of meat (beef, pork, chicken, etc). The veggies offered were very bland, like something that was shipped in from a long distance--which is a shame, considering all of the local farms. The meat was cooked okay and had good flavor--the only reason I gave 2 stars. Service was very slow when we were ready to leave. There seemed to be only 1 server to help us, and it looked like there were 6 or 7 tables of people. Following lunch, my stomach felt upset--just a gross feeling, more than anything. When an Asian restaurant charges you for tea and it's served lukewarm, they are off to a bad start. We started with salad rolls that were decent, nothing spectacular. The grilled pork I had was very good, with nice shrimp and a nicely fried egg. My wife's chicken and shrimp would have been better if there was more than a few tiny pcs of chicken. The staff were very friendly; the place was clean, which was nice. I LOVE pho, but hated this place. Everything in the pho was overcooked and mushy, and the broth tasted off. The salad rolls were all lettuce, and even the peanut sauce was bland. We couldn't even eat the pho, and when we told the server it was disappointing/overcooked and we'd just like the bill, they still made us pay for half of it (and since the prices are steep, came out to the same amount as a bowl of good pho at most other places). This was the worst meal I've ever ordered. I ordered the Vegetable and Tofu on egg noodle dish. It arrived and the noodles were dry and there were exactly 2 green beans, 4 pieces of broccoli and 2 carrot slices. The tofu had been deep fried too long and all there was to it was a crispy shell - no tofu in it. All that for $13. I called them over and all they said was "sorry". I sent the dish back and they added some very soggy over cooked pieces of broccoli on top. I told them to keep it as it was the worst meal I've ever attempted to eat. They didn't care - and I'll never go back or recommend this restaurant to any friends or family. But I'm letting them all know how terrible the food is. RIP OFF!!! read more

The pho here is mediocre at best. What is alarming is the price of the spring rolls $7.95 for two skinny deep fried rolls which didn't taste all that great. That's $4.50 a roll! The seafood pho didn't have much flavour...just salty broth. There were four tiny shrimp, one scallop and three pieces of pollack in this soup for $16.95. The value and taste just aren't there. I have tried other Vietnamese places in the area, and Pho Soc Trang is by far the best that I have had. The staff is so friendly and amazing and you have to try the #26 but definitely get the small one if you are doing appetizers as it is pretty big! Extra bonus is that you can easily view the menu online and also place orders online. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that they don't open until Noon on Sunday and the people need their Pho a bit earlier!! read more
