I've been coming to this place for many years to get a solid bowl of pho. I've also tried their vermicelli and rice dishes which have always been great. Another one of my favorites is the crispy egg rolls which have an addicting meaty flavor that pairs perfectly with the fish sauce. And of course, spring rolls with peanut sauce are a must. This is also one of the rare spots that has a really good veggie/tofu pho! On this visit, I decided to venture away from the usual pho and try something new. I heard that BBH is another iconic Vietnamese soup, but to me this didn't really hit the spot. The broth wasn't that flavorful and the noodles weren't my favorite. Maybe I have to find a place that specializes in it? But definitely stick to the pho here and always get the crispy egg rolls! I've been coming to this place for years it is one of my favorite pho spots in Oxnard, it is safe and reliable, the service is good. It's been raining recently so I couldn't resist a good soup. I ordered the rice noodle soup with veggies tofu (Phở Đậu Hủ #52 on the menu) as well as the Grilled Tofu over small vermicelli (Bún Tàu Hũ Nướng #8). I also ordered a Taro smoothie, which was okay, I probably won't order it again, and I wish it came with boba as well. The noodle soup was great, I personally loved it, I added some of their Chilli oil (which by the way is a 10/10). It was a very simple but savory soup, I personally love to add the bean sprouts and Jalapeños as well as mint. It just gave the soup base such a good flavor and spice. The Tofu over small vermicelli was good but not great, the fish sauce, sriracha, and hoisin complimented it really well, I do wish the vegetables on the side were a little more fresh but thats okay. This used to be my go to pho spot, but the quality and service has gone downhill over the past year. The food is not bad by any means, but it used to be better. I enjoy the shrimp pho (you get like 5 pieces of shrimp) and the winter rolls. After reading a previous review about the Shirley temple, I thought I'd share a similar experience that happened in a previous visit. I ordered the freshly squeezed lemonade, and I could hear the staff saying they ran out of it, debating what to do. I thought they would ask me if I wanted another drink, but they didn't. Soon after I heard the sound of the fountain drink machine, and that drink was brought to my table. The lemonade didn't taste fresh, obviously. I would also give this place 3.5 stars, but had to round it up to a 4 for yelp. I usually only come when other places are closed on Sundays. read more

Wow!!!! Is all I can say.....just to start, lol. Quick back story....I had just spent a productive, yet chilly summer day out on the waters exploring Channel Islands National Park. Upon docking at the pier in Oxnard.....I was craving a hot bowl of soup to warm myself up. Upon researching places to eat....I noticed how many reviews Pho Oxnard had received and thought this would be a good place to get some simply, comfort food. Well.....this was the BEST DECISION I have ever made!!! Hehehe. Upon arriving here, Pho Oxnard was located in a general shopping center....pretty standard for any type of restaurant. The great thing about this place was it's "no frills" type of service. I walked in, still pretty internally cold from the harsh winds traversing out to the Channel Islands.....yet they sat me right away, handed me a menu, no problems. Inside, the place had plenty of tables and chairs. Also, the restaurant was pretty filled up for dinner time. Gazing upon the menu.....holy! I mean, there were like....100 different combinations of soups to choose from. Anything and everything you can think of. What was awesome about the menu....was that each item (especially since I'm not familiar with Vietnamese cooking whatsoever) had a description of the ingredients listed right below it. And....there were pictures from every bowl of soup as well! Yes! Every bowl of their 100 different choices had a picture attached to it. That was fantastic!!! As it ultimately, greatly assisted me in choosing what style of soup would be ideal for me. I chose #56 - noodle (dry) with shrimp, BBQ pork and quail egg, served with homemade sauce and a bowl of flavorful broth! All this - a giant, huge portion of soup for only $8.95! There's only so many words I can use....but this soup, WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER EATEN....IN MY LIFE! Lol.....yes truly. It was the most satisfying meal....exactly what I was yearning for. I was in soup heaven, literally. The homemade sauce was some sort of brown soy/gravy sauce....it was delicious and was the highlight that made everything. The egg noodles were the perfect style....very thin.....so much reminding me of my childhood when I'd visit Chinatown back in New York City. The pork was tender w/out any fattiness. The quail eggs were a wonderful touch. As you can imagine, I raised the bowl towards my lips and slurped down every last drop. It was that comforting and tasty. And for $8.95 - the deal of the century!!! Of course, I did spend a 2nd tour out along Channel Islands National Park the following day.....and when my explorations came to an end in the afternoon....I had one thing on my mind. I MUST RETURN TO PHO OXNARD! There wasn't even a question. This 2nd time around....I walked in liked a seasoned veteran, ordered the #56 again....and immersed myself in Pho bliss! If I only lived in this area of Southern California, I'd be their best customer. Unfortunately I live across the country in Florida. And when I returned from vacation.... I sampled a Vietnamese restaurant to what I thought would be similar to this place.....and disappointingly didn't nearly receive the virtuoso bowl of soup I humbly got from Pho Oxnard. In my mind, I had to vicariously transport myself here and envision the fulfilling moments from my back to back visits. In the future, if I somehow return to the Oxnard/Ventura area, I will absolutely 100% come to this place again and indulge and cherish in what I believe was the most satisfying bowls of Pho soup ever. read more

Delicious!! The pho is amazing, honestly everything we have ever gotten has been delicious. The menu has a large selection and the pricing is very good for what you get. Even if we are not coming into eat, I have to stop in and get my ice coffee from here. This has been a family favorite for years, a hidden gem. The staff is always great. It can be really busy to which it seems like seating sucks but staff is always great about accommodating or moving tables to make sure people are seated quickly. read more

Hanging in Morro Bay and my friend and I decided that we should have some Pho on our way home to Los Angeles for dinner, it was only 7:30pm, well we yelped local places in Oxnard and decided on this gem. While driving we thought that maybe we would not make it in time before they closed, they close at 9pm and our eta map said we would arrive at 8:35pm, darn, maybe no more service, maybe and hopefully take out at least? Well we arrived at 8:25pm and we were welcomed with open arms. Staff was very nice, very helpful on the menu for my friends questions and attentive. I had their Pho Tai, and Chin, Rice noodle soup with eye round steak and lean brisket. The meat was tender and plenty of it, the broth was amazing, and the noodles were wonderful. I love my pho spicy, so added some sriracha, and it was perfect. My round cheeks were just as happy as my tummy. Also tried their roll appetizer, Mua Cuon which came with 4 season rolls. Spring roll , summer roll, autumn roll, and a winter roll. They all tasted good. Once done it was 9:20pm, not once did they tell us to hurry up, that to me goes very far when I know they could have turned us away and they would have every right. Omg! By far one of my worst pho experiences EVER! I'm from out of the area and wanted to try the PHO! Absolutely disappointed! First off, I've NEVER in my life waited SO long for my order to appear at my table. We were promptly seated and our order was taken, and after that, the experience went to crap! Patiently, we waited while other tables were being served their food, to go orders were placed and picked up. Not once in almost 20 minutes were we checked up on. Finally, at some point, the staff person that took my order realized that we hadn't received our food. No real reason was given for the delay, other than the register didn't print our order so the kitchen didn't prepare it, but when I went to inquire, our order was found. Apologies can only go so far, but the existence left a bad taste in my mouth and I had no appetite to eat my food. Food always comes out fast and quick at these places. Everything today is expensive so I won't say anything else about that. So the only thing left is did the food that quickly got served come out good or bad? Spoiler alert: it wasn't good. When someone says food isn't good, people quickly assume it was bad. So in many of my reviews I always have to spell it out that there's a middle ground which is the food is just ok. It's neither good or bad. Well I want to be clear that in this case when I say it wasn't good, I'm saying that it's actually borderline bad. Bad for a couple reasons. 1. Quantity. They are very stingy with the protein. I expect more. I get prices of things have gone up. And you raised your prices. But it's not cool to raise price and then give us less at the same time. 2. Flavor. One of the worst flavored charbroiled pork I've ever had at a Vietnamese restaurant. There was just no flavor. Usually when this is the case you're saved by that sweet fish sauce to at least dip the meat in. They don't even know how to make that sauce here. It was just a terrible experience. Service wasn't very good either. The skinny tall server completely forgot he seated us. He took orders from a another group he seated after us before realizing he never took our order. My son and I came here on a Friday afternoon at 3:30 so the traffic was really light (after lunch but before dinner). There were 2 gentlemen working, and our waiter was prompt, kind, and steadfast. The other employee just stayed behind the counter and didn't seem involved. I enjoyed their Veggie Pho with veggie broth 1/2 rice noodle 1/2 egg noodle. I asked for extra veggies and I love how the extra veggies came out separately on the side. I had plenty of vegs and the veggie broth flavor was delicious. I always add chili oil to my Pho for the lil hint of spice and flave. My son ordered the stir fried rice with shrimp and enjoyed it. It's alright..I personally added salt and soy sauce to it when I tried it. Tried their spring roll with shrimp and vegs which I tend to do at Vietnamese restaurants, but theirs was small. I really enjoy their hot tea to go with either the vegetable pho or chicken pho. Their chicken broken rice plate is ok. I like that they have a flight of different springs rolls. If you haven't had it then you should definitely try it. Their wait staff service is ok as well. Food is on point. My noodle soups come out tasty, salty, meaty, & good. They have CREPES!! The broths are excellent here. Only reason I MINUS a star is, when I ask for the bill, he tells me the total price but does NOT give me a paper bill. I have to look at a small screen which only shows total. I can see the tip "service charge" is already added, I ask if tip was included, he gives me this long answer which I can't understand. So I say, "Good tip is included" and get the credit card paper back, he still wants me to add more tip, so be careful and READ your bill here, ask for a paper copy. I actually have been over charged in the past at this restaurant, but I mention it to the server and they correct the bill. Keep an eye out for the bill. These guys make a lot of mistakes on the bill. read more

The pho was good and packed with veggies. I love the spice rack that they have on each table so I was able to spice up my pho to my liking. I enjoyed the huge bowl of food. I ordered a veggie pho with tofu today and it was the worst pho I have ever eaten. It had no nice vegetables (carrots/broccoli), only some kind of wilted lettuce, cabbage, and TONS of limp bok choy. I like my vegetables in my pho to be fresh and lightly steamed so they are slightly crunchy, but this was just not it. The tofu was rubbery and had a weird taste to it. The broth lacked flavor and was extremely bland even with the provided sriracha, lemon, and hoisin sauce added. After struggling through the veggies and the tofu, I took a few bites of the noodles and they were just awful. I ended up having to throw the rest of my pho out. (I really never throw away food unless it is basically inedible) The noodles were a weird texture, undercooked, and had a stale taste to them. Came here on a Friday night around 5. Was Sat down in the corner by a younger host, was not given a menu. 10 min go by..no service 15...no menu,no service. I eventually got up and got myself a menu. Noticed there was one waiter in the whole restaurant. He came around once the we put our menus down and didn't apologize for the wait, nothing. The pho was alright. I wouldn't come back for it again. I wasn't impressed. The whole experience just wasn't the greatest. Def needs some thorough cleaning done, especially the floors. Our tray with utensils, napkins, and salsa was completely sticky and disgusting. This is one of my husband and my favorite restaurants. Food is fresh and flavorful. I particularly like their noodle bowls, broken rice dishes, and spring rolls. My husband gets their broken rice dishes with extra meat. Service is often a little difficult in certain areas, like if I say in my initial order that I want extra of a particular sauce that won't happen until I ask for it again after I get my food. When we went it I was impressed as there were a number of people dining already. Then we noticed the place doesn't smell like most Pho restaurants do. This place is such a good Vietnamese restaurant! They have a variety of choices for food and even Vietnamese dessert! I came here with my sister in law to eat for lunch and we got so much. We got the Chè Sng Sa Ht Lu, which is a tasty dessert with jelly, mock pomegranate seeds, mung bean and coconut milk; pho with meatballs & rare steak; soup; fried wontons; spring rolls. Their sweet & sour sauce that came with the wontons was delicious. The fish sauce to dip the spring rolls were also really good.
