Decided to nip into Pho, as my love for Asian food takes me to various places to try. In a busy food court of Manchester, plenty of choice but regardless - thought this would be decent.
First impressions, the decor was pretty nice, kept with the theme of Vietnamese style. Kept waiting for a table for a while which was a bit of a pain, and the table we eventually got hadn't been cleaned, nor relayed with utensils and napkins.
Waited another few minutes for menus, then 20 minutes just to order drinks. The staff didn't seem all to interested in helping customers, with others being served almost immediately, and others waiting for quite a while.
My pineapple and mint juice was okay, bit bland and overpriced for what it was. For starters I had veggie spring roles with peanut sauce. Bit of a strange combo, but actually real tasty! Probably my favourite dish of the lunch menu (2 courses for 9.95)
For mains I had Pho Chay, a veggie broth with noodles, tofu and mushrooms. It was a tad lacklustre in flavour, not much going on and not many mushrooms for it to be a main ingredient.
I decided to try a dessert, even with the poor service I figured it'd be worth a shot. I went for the most expensive at £6.95, a chocolate truffle slab with coconut ice cream. To be waiting 15 minutes for it, it was tiny. So overpriced and very disappointing.
Staff clearly felt it wasn't necessary to say goodbye to customers, as I walked out immediately after paying with no more than a slight glance.
Overall, the food is disappointing and the service was awful. Won't be returning I'm afraid, I'll stick to my usual Wagamamas. read more
