My favorite, go-to, just-like-grandma-made-(if-she-were-Vietnamese) comfort food restaurant. Bonus points for having pho ga thit nau (dark meat chicken) because most new pho places only offer white meat. The banh mi & dinner plates are fantastic, too. Great teas & coffees. The spring rolls & peanut sauce are really good, but the egg rolls and their sauce are out of this world. Friendly staff, most of whom don't speak English well (usually a good sign for tasty pho). Nice, clean, calm & unpretentious dining area. I've lost count of how many friends I've brought (dozens), & every one loved it. Do yourself a favor. Had a bad visit on Christmas Day. We were overcharged for our meal...charged large instead of small pho soups. We never got any refills of water which was annoying since it was warm inside. I am a fan of Vietnamese food. I am currently spending the weekend in Dallas/Forth Worth and staying at a hotel. I decided to order take out at this restaurant through Uber Eats because I wanted to take advantage of my time in Texas to eat some delicious Vietnamese food. I was told that I have to try the Vietnamese food here! This place had decent ratings on Uber Eats and Yelp so I decided to try this place out. Anyway, I ordered my usual pho dac biet and some egg rolls on the side and had them delivered. I was so shocked when I got my food. It was not due to the delivery itself because the Uber Eats delivery person delivered the food ahead of the schedule--I was shocked by the packaging. I also requested for utensils and extra sauce, which I did not get. That's not the worst part. The pho dac biet was served in 2 separate containers. The broth was in a styrofoam cup (???) and the meat and pho noodle was in a Chinese takeout container. The portion is also not as advertised. The cup is a drinking cup. It is not feasible to eat the takeout if you don't have any bowls or plates available such as if you are staying at a hotel. When I brought my delivery back to the hotel room, I tried to put some of the meat and noodle into the styrofoam cup when the cup is already filled with broth. They could've at least served the broth in a styrofoam bowl. It was a hot mess because when I tried to put some of the vegetables, meat and noodle-- the broth overfilled and spilled everywhere. I ended up dipping the meat and noodle into the broth, but nothing was warm enough. In addition, try to imagine eating pho noodle soup without any spoon and fork/chopsticks because they didn't even give you any utensils even when they were requested; as above. The broth was also a little too salty. The egg rolls that I got were a little soggy and the ingredients they used were not that good. This is overall a horrible experience. I may give it a second chance if I have to absolutely eat at this place again, but it has to be dining in the restaurant. I am all for supporting local businesses and also conserving resources if not needed. However, they did not honor the customer's request for utensils, extra condiments. I Ordered egg rolls and the Com Ga Nuong Xa va Cha Gio(#23) The food was fresh and hot! The chicken was charbroiled to perfection and the veggies are a perfect combination of broccoli and bok choy. Another comment to add is that the menu lacks detail of what the actual food your getting, like it doesn't say that this meal comes with a soup or it comes with a crab, etc. My advice is do ask the waitress what's included with the meal first. For appetizers, we chose the A4 Spring Rolls with Charbroiled Pork. I'd say the wrap wasn't that good, it tasted like plastic, the pork was a little bland, peanut sauce was spot on, and the vegetables didn't taste fresh (2/5). For rice-plates, 29 Charboiled Shrimp, Shredded Pork Skin, Pork Chops was actually good. The shrimp flavor is acceptable but soft to eat, the pork chop was tasty and juicy, the shredded pork skin was okay and the vegetables (again) aren't fresh at that time. It came with a soup and it wasn't that bad (4/5). For Noodle Soup, 62 Combination Rice Noodle & Egg Noodle Soup w/ Shrimp, Pork, Fishballs & Squid) had an interesting flavor and it was very good. The fishballs was spot on, pork was delicious, shrimp was soft to eat, the squid was good, the vegetables were okay, it also came with those fake crab meat which the menu did not disclose and the idea of combining rice & egg noodles is what makes it interesting (4/5). For beverages, I had the Bobba Taro Tea and it really makes you chilly after drinking it. I'd say it's a little too sweet but still enjoyed drinking it. I've been on the hunt for the best Pho in Haltom City. This place may be my new go to spot for Pho. I've tried a few Pho places around this area and nothing has me coming back for more, until now. The restaurant itself is pretty clean and huge. The staff weren't the friendliest, but they got the job done. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet (Large) and my wife got the Hu Tieu (Large). We both were super hungry, hence the large bowls we ordered haha. We also got an order of their Chicken Salad. The chicken salad had good flavor and was very refreshing. The chicken itself was a little dry. The sauce that we poured over it made up for the dryness though. It was a ginger/sweet fish sauce. Amazing! The Pho broth was so delicious. It was not too bland and not too salty. Just the perfect flavor! I, myself like to add hoisin sauce, sriracha, fresh basil, and lime. This was a bowl of heaven! The meat was super tender and they give you the perfect amount of meat to noodle ratio. I also found a nice juicy piece of beef tendon at the bottom of my bowl and it melted in my mouth. *DROOLS*. My wife's Hu Tieu looked pretty good, but I was too focused on my bowl of Pho to try hers. She said it was amazing so I'll take her word for it. My rice dish (the Number 23) was $6.45. It comprised of a scoop of rice, a scant amount of chicken, and what was deemed as "steam vegetables" on the menu actually translated to two pieces of broccoli, a handful of cabbage, and carrot slivers. It also came with an egg roll, politely pre-cut into bite-size pieces. I left my plate empty except for the bulk of the generous portion of cabbage. Hints: I order with numbers since I cannot hope to pronounce the Vietnamese names (Hell, I'm still struggling with my mom's tongue). Please don't order soft drinks when you go to Pho houses! Get anything else- boba tea, iced coffee, iced green tea, fresh squeezed lemonade, Haltom City water...anything but soda in a can. Eat this stuff right. The waitstaff are barely ESL. So earlier today me and my family decided to try some Pho for the Sunday lunch. We were gonna go to the Pho 95 but it was closed so we drove down the road and decided to eat here as I have seen this place before. As we stepped in we were quite confused as there were two doors, one to the left and one to the right. We entered through one of the two doors. As we stepped in we were assigned to a seat. The menu has a good variety of food. The thing is that the lady who took our order doesn't seem to know how to explain the order or answer any questions that our group had. We ordered the food we know well anyways as well as some Vietnamese egg rolls as our appitizers. The food came quickly, the appetizer of course came right before the entree. I find that the rice entree I had is rather small. The rice is a lot but the meat and veggies are small and the entree is $7.25 which is a fair call to me. The Pho is pretty big. All rice entrees came with a small bowl of beef broth which contains a lot of msg. The food is quite greasy or just isn't clean. After eating the food, we ended up going to the restroom. Pho the way that momma makes it! That's a compliment that goes a longgg way, considering my mom's pho is the best that I have ever had. This restaurant serves up the best pho that I've been able to find in the Fort Worth area. My favorite item is the pho dac biet (combination special pho). The broth is flavorful, fragrant, savory, and rich. The key to good pho is the broth and you can tell that a lot of time and attention is put into it here. The meat consistently tastes very fresh and is so tender. I have had pho that was essentially ruined by the frozen or freezer burned taste of meat and that has definitely not been the case at Pho Hung. They are very generous with the vegetables such as Thai basil and bean sprouts to be used with the pho; once in a while, they even offer long coriander (ngo gai)- this is typically not offered at other pho places but is always available when my momma makes it! Other great menu items that I have had here include the mi thap cam (combination egg noodle soup) and the "ta pin lu." Ta pin lu is available as a vinegar based fondue or skillet style with butter melted over a hot pan. A combination of steak, shrimp, and squid is brought out on a plate and you cook these items yourself in either the vinegar based fondue or on the skillet. Think Korean bbq but without all of the sides! Rice paper and an abundance of fresh vegetables including mints and lettuce are supplied so that you can make a spring roll with the cooked meat and seafood. If you have never had this, it is definitely worth trying here! It costs approximately $27 and is the perfect amount of food for 2 hungry people. My husband and I also enjoy the spring rolls (goi cuon) but it is very average and offers nothing particularly special that sets it apart from other restaurants. The service here is speedy and efficient. We are usually seated immediately and our order taken within 2-3 minutes of arriving! The staff is not the friendliest (may be due to the language barrier, as is typical of many other Asian establishments) but they get the job done! I would give this place 5 stars had it not been for the menu prices. The menu prices recently changed and the price of the combination pho increased by a whopping $1.50, making it $9.75 for a large bowl. This is a little pricey for pho in my opinion. This place is definitely worth a try if you are on the hunt for good pho and don't mind paying a little more for quality food. If it is your first time, I definitely recommend trying the pho before you try other menu items; it is always safe to order pho at a restaurant with "pho" in its name! read more
