One of the few stops off I-95 near Dillon SC where you can order Vietnamese food. Menu offers a large selection of Vietnamese items, some good and some not so good. First the soups are pretty good, including Bun Bo Hue which is a spicy soup. The appetizers you can skip as the egg rolls are crispy but too sour. And the shrimp spring rolls are real chintzy as it is just full of noodles. The banh mi sandwiches are huge and full of stuff, yet the grilled pork meat was just too darn salty. We wanted to be excited but it's a mixed bag as you try the various menu items. They should consolidate and focus on the items they can do well. The food was authentic and yummy. I have had Vietnamese food in many metropolitan cities, and this was up there with the best of them. We tried the fried tilapia and the salmon claypot, and they were delicious. The claypot was said to be spicy, but to me it just had the right kick and was not overly spicy. The only thing I was not entirely thrilled with was the avocado smoothie. The ambience is no-frills, that of a fast food joint. It is clean and pleasant however. Service is helpful and accommodating. Rated 2 stars due to the lack of communication. Traveled from NC to try this place but when I got there it was closed. Sign said "Doc Appointment-be right back", waited for an hour and a half and no sign of owner or opened. The open sign was on while closed. Google marked the place as opened as well. Lunch special beef bowl for $6.50 including a free soda 11 am- 3 pm. Spring rolls for $3. A bit of a wait, about 10 mins, for food to be prepared. I enjoyed the spring rolls. I initially enjoyed the beef bowl but found it too dry despite using the accompanying sauce. There was also a certain herb used that was sprinkled with a heavy hand and pretty overpowering. The same herb was also sharp and made the meal not as fun to eat. This seems to be the spot for a lot of locals because of it's culture and flavorful meals in an otherwise lackluster town of choices- so I get the hype. Excellent authentic, home-made Vietnamese food in Dillon, SC?!?! My family was looking for places to eat on our way to Florida. Happened to be around Dillon, SC during lunch time and the wife finds a 4.5+ Vietnamese restaurant on Yelp. And I'm thinking no way! There can't be any decent Vietnamese restaurants out here... can there? Turns out I was dead wrong. This place is the real deal folks. A true diamond in the rough. The food was excellent, and the prices reasonable. We ordered egg rolls as appetizers; Pho, Combination Fried Rice, and Pork Chops as our main dishes. Everything was excellent and the portions were generous (had extras to take on the trip). The food tasted like a real home cooked meal; made me felt really happy! As we were enjoying our meal, the chef stopped by to talk to us, -- asked how was the food. Come to learn the chef is genuine Vietnamese who came to Dillon by way of Chicago. That makes a lot of sense why the food tasted so good. She mentioned the first week they were opened there were hour long lines with folks patiently waiting to try it out. I guess the locals wanted to try other types of food choices other than the more mainstream American restaurants. Dillon is extremely fortunate to have an excellent place like this with an authentic Vietnamese who really knows her dishes. The young man at the cashier was extremely nice as well. I asked for 4 glasses of water and the man brought out 4 bottles of water. When asked how much per bottle, and he said free! That gesture was the cherry on top of a pleasantly surprisingly yet all enjoyable lunch. Total with taxes pre-tip was just $31. OK-- I admit I had low expectations. We're from DC and I doubted a strip mall Vietnamese place would serve anything close to a good Bahn Mi. Owner (?) recommended beef (and my husband loved it) or chicken, but I stuck with pork. Admittedly, no pate, but the char shu (bbq pork) was made in house, the pickle seemed homemade too. They do put mayo on it, which is a little odd, but keeps the sandwich moist. Make sure to get extra napkins. Count me converted. read more

While the owner was very nice & it was inexpensive, the quantity was small. We were traveling & staying in a hotel so it was not ideal that the broth container was so small because it was where we needed to add the noodles. We had to use coffee cups to empty some of the broth out of their small container- not practical for travelers or people who do not have access to bowls. The chicken had bones which was a major turnoff to me. The broth was not very tasteful. Overall, not very good in my opinion. read more

Dillon isn't known for it's wide range of food options, and there are no other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, but Pho Hong Saigon is worth a try. Although closed Mondays, they pride themselves not only on their Pho (Meat & broth soup -a MUST-have!), but also a spanish cuisine menu! The other side of their menu consists of fairly familiar Asian/Vietnamese dishes. But the familiarity of most dishes isn't a deterrent due to the impressive freshness of their food. The dining experience is not typical American, which is perfect for this place. There is no music. Ambience boasts a flat screen tv with a small, intimate, setting for groups, meetings, dates or a pho addict who wants privacy. Kevin and Tu were incredibly helpful & friendly! They're very passionate about the food and the customers. I suggest trying the house pho and the delicious spring rolls. You will not be disappointed. We will be back very soon. Food delivery is FAST! Considering the fresh value of the food, it is impressive how quickly they get your food. My group & I ordered several of the Vietnamese dishes. Pork-chop plate House special soup Spring rolls Egg rolls Tai boba tea The pork chop was thick, not sliced, high quality. There wasn't a marinade used, that is traditionally used to the dish Com suon nuong. There wasn't an egg served, nor pickled daikon & carrots. It is definitely homegrown South Carolina friendly. And for under $10 the huge portion is more than worth it! Omgoodness the pho. I've only had broth this exquisite, carefully made, & a pronounced, correct finish four times in the last 15 years. It's difficult when traveling constantly to find a passionately prepared, traditional, customary ingredient soup broth with depth this elevated. The broth had lemongrass! It amplifies the dish considerably. I mean, who eats a bowl of soup in the middle of June in South Carolina and lives to tell about it? Me. I do. That bright bouncy pillow of white vermicelli noodles swimming in a pool of hot, fragrant, inviting soup can turns anyone's frown upside down! Pho is such a vibrant, tantalizing, complex, amazing, dish and has so many layers of flavor, they all hit different notes as they gently flow across your palate. This is the kind of food that sparks curiosity, yet ignites passion found in the way it is prepared, served, and enjoyed. Served with bean sprouts and basil, I like mine with a bit or Sriracha for spice, and hoison for sweetness. I truly enjoyed spring rolls! It was my first time eating this unique, exotic, appetizer. It was such an interesting, fun texture! The wrapper comes from paper thin sheets of dried glutinous rice that gets rehydrated in water and rolled into little fantastic bundles of chewy outer, crunchy and savory inner hand sized portions. Shaped like egg rolls, these fresh options are wrapped with shrimp, mint, basil, vermicelli noodles, and several different types of lettuce. It's served with a peanut dipping sauce, which takes the summer sandwich wrap-like dish to another fun level of bliss and excitement. I really was enamored by this experience, it was so much more than I anticipated! The wrapper has a chewy, springy texture like cow tails candy, mochi, and hi-chew candy. The dipping sauce was peanut based but had lots of different flavors. The egg rolls were another excellent menu item. $2.50 gets you 6 neat little finger sized crunchy gems of goodness! They were filled with delicious meat and flavor! I couldn't wish for better cha gio! The tai boba tea was unchartered territory for me. But it was a great adventure for my taste buds! Delicious, creamy, mildly spiced, slightly caffeinated, and definitely unique, I'll say thats the proper introduction to Thai Milk Boba Tea. If your a first timer with Vietnamese cuisine, I would highly recommend their chicken soup. Two other guests were there enjoying some when I was seated and they were thrilled! It was their first time, yet they really liked the dish. Overall, I cant find any reason not to travel another 40 miles to come here! Right off 95, one traffic light to your right coming from Florence inside a grocery store plaza. It's worth a try. Everyone here is very friendly and not bothersome. I was driving down South on i95 and was looking for any Asian food on the way. This place will be on my list for the next time and I would recommend to anyone. Food is good, and have an authentic taste and good spice. We were hoping to get noodle soup but during the pandemic, they only serve takeout. Maybe I will bring my own bowl on my next trip. Shrimp stir fry has good spice and really big portion. Pork chops on rice is different from my hometown but it's good different.
