I had the pho with sirloin, meatballs, and beef tendon. It came out with a plate piled high with mung bean sprouts, Thai basil, cilantro, and sliced jalapeños. I threw the whole veggie plate in with a good shot of fish sauce and saracha to boot (I love fish sauce!). The flavor was completely awesome. Now for the bad part. The sirloin was very chewy and what is up with the meatballs? They were incredibly chewy and rubbery. I guarantee they would have bounced to the ceiling if I would have thrown one down on the table. Plus they had bits of chewy cartilage embedded in them. It was disgusting to the point where I almost gagged and had to spit the last one out into my napkin. If you think I am squeamish about weird food textures, think again. I finally found the beef tendon in the bottom of the bowl and enjoyed every gelatinous lip coating slimy bite. That part was really good. I got a to-go carton and carefully poured off the awesome broth; leaving the disgusting meatballs behind. The next day I boiled some noodles and ate them with the broth. Maybe next time I will stop by and get a quart of broth to go. read more

Pho Good - 108 Rice Noodle Soup with Shrimp - Vietnamese Near Me - Shawnee, Kansas

There aren't a lot of places to eat pho in JoCo, so I'm happy to say Pho Good is quality food at a fair price. It's not the best pho I've ever had, it's not very exciting. But I like to voyage off and try other things on the menu. My favorite lately has been the vermicelli with pork and egg roll. Everything tastes fresh and satisfying. The meat and the egg roll have good texture, they're not soggy. The veggies have a lot of color and flavor. Food tastes like it only came out of the kitchen mere seconds ago and service is quick. Seating is comfortable. The groupons are for dine-in only. read more

Pho Good - Vermicelli with Pork & Eggroll, Curry Chicken - Vietnamese Near Me - Shawnee, Kansas

I don't particularly write reviews but this place deserves a 5 star. We came with a large group of about 60 people and they were able to accommodate us and serve the food quickly and efficiently. The food itself was delicious one of the better pho places I've been too. The reason why I'm writing this review is because of the manager Peter who went out of his way to serve us. He really cares about every customer and really tries to give the best service for his restaurant. We actually came all the way from Texas to visit and we had left a bag there by accident. We called and immediately he sent the bag back to us! We were actually really worried we would lose this bag but he went out of his way to send it to us. We are forever grateful to him. This place is awesome. Come for great food and even better service! read more

I didn't know Pho so I was glad when a friend suggested we meet there. I had the soup with shrimp and chicken. Really nice flavors, served hot in a big bowl. They also bring a bowl of greens and bean spouts to add to your soup if you care to along with some fresh lime slices. I think the other options include (if one doesn't choose the soup) having the meal with rice or with noodles. We also enjoyed the spring rolls. I was surprised they are served chilled rather than warm but they were good nevertheless. I don't know if there is a certain way to eat the soup with the long, clear noodles without looking completely uncouth? If there is, I don't know it but it was yummy & warm. I'll look forward to trying other items. read more

I've order food from Pho Good several SEVERAL times. It has been quite enjoyable food and friendly service up until today. I didn't want it to go undocumented, so I'm sharing here. Today when I was eating my food I found a hard piece of plastic. Tear-drop shape and almost glass like. I was extremely disappointed that my otherwise delicious meal was ruined by something that I could have potentially choked on. This was not ok. When I called they tried to convince me that it was the hard pieces of the shrimp..... THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT SHRIMP. read more

I'd eaten here before and really enjoyed it. This time, however, made me think twice about going back again. I arrived with the lunch crowd on a Saturday, and since the booths were all taken, I had to sit alone at a big table in the middle of the room. When I pointed initially to a table more out of the way, I was told "We don't seat people there." No explanation. Oooooookay. My mango bubble tea was brought right away, but I had to wait awhile for my water. I ordered the tempura shrimp and the seafood soup with cellophane noodles, after making sure it wasn't spicy. (I explained I don't like spicy food.) The shrimp was not tempura, just regular fried shrimp you'd find in any buffet. But it came with a bowl of sauce loaded with hot red pepper pieces. When I managed to flag down the waitress & point this out, she said that was the only sauce they had. Really? Hmmm. I told her I'd just use the Hoisin sauce on the table. The soup came, and it was pretty darn good (Yay!). It did have jalapeños on the dish along with the bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, and lime, but oh, well. A waste, though. The soup included several whole tail-on shrimp. Call me picky, but I dislike having to put my fingers in the soup to remove shrimp tails. My single paper napkin needed to be replaced in the middle of the meal, but I had to wait until I got the check before I could tell my waitress; she never came back to see how the food was or if I needed anything. I had to wait awhile (about 10 minutes), looking around with my finger in the air, to get my check. Then it was another 10-15 minutes before my credit card was processed before I could sign it. The restaurant wasn't that crowded by then. My biggest complaint was of the service, and not the food. But the poor service did kind of ruin the experience. I really love pho, and had been looking forward to making the long drive out to Shawnee. When the waitress returned & told me she'd have to charge me extra for putting a small amount on my credit card (I had a Groupon), well, that was it for me. I broke my cardinal rule and left a small tip. And I didn't feel one bit bad about it. read more

Terrible service! The waitresses are rude and does not acknowledge you. Food came out 45 mins later.. Stupid long wait for no reason, there wasn't even many people in there. Food was just "ok" lack of flavor. Need better management or something because this wait is ridiculous. I was expecting better food for the wait. Disappointment. Will not be back, I will stick with Vietnam Cafe! read more

They should really rename their establishment to just 'PHO' because it sure isn't 'PHO GOOD'. Had the pho and it was BLAND, service wasn't the greatest and I get it, most asian restaurants don't have great service but geez, make sure your good food can back it up. not this place. next pho restaurant please. read more

Ran across this place while out looking for another restaurant. Great hidden gem with good service and great food! I have eaten here about 5 times in a month and not been disappointed yet. My favorites are the Spring Rolls and a lemongrass beef dish. read more

This is my favorite place to get pho, I almost always order a small #101, raw beef on the side, so that I can decide how cooked I want the meat, and I order the meat rolls (#4) with fish sauce that they bring you (add sriracha for spiciness). I love how they keep pure fish sauce on the table (it's inside a reduced sodium soy sauce container) and ground pepper, as those, along with lime and cilantro are the things I like to add to my broth. Their combination vermicelli is also a favorite, I get it without bean sprouts and nuts, add the accompanied fish sauce and some sriracha and I'm good to go! And it makes for good leftovers, I usually eat it cold. Vietnamese iced coffee is a good choice and the taro bubble tea minus the bubbles is very good. read more

So, I'm always on a quest for great spring rolls and Pho. I loved their spring rolls. They were very fresh and just the right amount of mint. Here are my criteria for a great Pho. Nice big bowl of savory broth, good amount of authentic meat cuts (Steak, tripe, tendon, meat balls - I usually ask to remove the brisket) and not a skimpy platter of bean sprouts, Thai basil and cilantro! While the Pho met almost all the criteria (no tripe in this restaurant), the broth was a-ok. For me, it was sort of bland and was lacking in the aroma and taste of spices they put in the soup. The location is great, the people were awesome and very accommodating and the place is nice and clean. Will I drive a long way to have the pho? Perhaps not. Will I eat again if I am the area and in the mood for some. Sure I will. read more

What is going on with not getting basil with carryout pho orders? This is my 2nd time - asked for extra basil and still only bean sprouts and cilantro. The basil is one of my favorite parts....seems a bit odd not to include it even when requested. read more

They do a solid Pho broth here and I enjoyed the combination Pho very much. Plenty of food in the bowl and on the plate for garnish. They don't give you any nasty looking basil here either. I actually got nice basil and cilantro... I love both. Service is very relaxed and casual. read more

This is almost a 4-star for me, but there is a little missing. We come here because it is relatively close to us in Overland Park, vs. going to Viet Nam Cafe or the other restaurants in KC, MO. We've been here 3 times. The first because of a groupon, and the others because we enjoyed our experience the first time. The Pho here is good; can't say it's the best but it hits the spot on a cold day. The soft spring rolls and dipping sauce are really good. The bun here is "okay." Bun is usually my favorite dish, but there's isn't as flavorful as I've had in the past and the beef was too chewy for me (almost jerky-like). The service has improved over our visits. The servers and owner (I'm guessing) are quite nice and attentive. The prices are also fair. In short, it's a place to come if you live nearby and want Vietnamese food. However, not sure if I'd recommend others to make the trek from other areas in the city to come here. read more

Seems like a great joint that's overlooked! The food... the springs rolls were possibly the best I've had in KC. The sauce was great, and the spring rolls very soft without too much of that sticky effect you get that starts tearing it apart. The Pho Dac Biet was very good as well, while I think I've had better broth at some other places, the meat content was great and the Pho overall was very good. The service and venue... the service was very attentive. I never had to wait or put in any effort to get their attention. The venue seems like it's large enough to host some decent sized groups, and parking was very easy. Overall... definitely a place for me to check out again when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

First time trying this establishment. My GF and tried the chicken pho and sirloin/meatball pho. Both were served promptly with a side of traditional garnishes. Meats were a tad bit bland but overall flavor once condiments were added was pretty good. I ordered the mango bubble tea that was good as well but was brought towards the end of the meal as a dessert. It's open seating arrangement and casual style is good for a quick bite. Worth trying! read more

Pho Good - Vietnamese Near Me - Shawnee, Kansas

This place is AWESOME! If a 6 star rating were possible I would give it to them! My girlfriend really enjoys the vermicelli dishes, and while I enjoy them as well it's just to hard to pass up the pho! I'm originally from the west coast where our Asian food selection is usually of high quality I would say that Pho Good is on par with any of the pho places I have been too! Everything is perfectly cooked and all the ingredients are super fresh which you can tell in their final product. If it's a chilly day or I'm under the weather or if it's a Tuesday nothing sounds better than a bowl of Pho Good's pho! People who are running it are nice enough and service is prompt. The decor I could take or leave but it in no way effects the food! If your in the area I would highly recommend you stop in! read more

I got the tofu spring rolls. They were cold, and the rice paper had an odd texture to it. The sauce was lukewarm as well. My friend got the boba and it wasn't mixed well. It had chunks of ice. She got the mango kind and it was way too sugary. I would not recommend and wouldn't go back. read more

There's two locations listed. They moved down the road and are on 74th now. The food and service are both good, I appreciate their effort in service. If you're in the area and want decent pho I'd suggest this place. The spring rolls and other appetizers are pretty standard and don't really WOW but they also don't disappoint. I'm giving a 4 star because of their service :) read more

Their pho is beyond amazing!!! The workers there are extremely nice and are good at keeping the restaurant clean and running!

Had quick lunch yesterday after a 6 hour cross country drive. Spring rolls were above average. Service was fast and the pho was OK. I had the seafood pho and the seafood was a little sparse and broth a little bland. The add ins were OK but I wish it had a little more jalapeno, there was only one slice. I'll go again an try something else next time. Price was right where I expected it. read more

I've been a repeat customer for Pho Good despite how far away it is. I'm in love with the spring rolls which are crisp, cool, and delicious. The peanut sauce that accompanies it is to die for. I usually expect peanut butter sauce since thats what most places serve, but this has such a great flavor and its delicious! Their boba (bubble tea) drinks are amazing and well made. I usually get the vegetarian pho, as most other pho places make me wary of their weird tasting steak, but last night I got the vegetarian with sirloin steak slices and it was delicious! Vibrant juicy steak slices, crisp veggies, well cooked tofu, cooked to perfection noodles, and a heavenly broth. Truly delicious! The ambiance is okay and the customer service needs some help, so please bear that in mind. The food speaks loudly and that is why this place gets a 5 star rating! read more

We love the Pho and vermicelli. Shrimp and sweet potato appetizer has a nice sauce. Been many times. For food I vote 4.5 stars on good days. Some newer servers need more training. Getting their help felt like serving yourself. Using a Groupon happened to be the time the food and service begged enthusiasm. We left disappointed. read more

I was a customer when they were on Shawnee Mission Parkway and although I preferred the convenience of that location, I think their Move to Nieman and 75th actually gave them how much cleaner, newer restaurant to work out of. It's basically a big rectangle. You can see everyone ordering and being served, and there's not a bad seat in the house. The servers are quick and efficient. I don't speak Thai but they are fine if you just order with the item number. We have also gotten take out there several times and it's ready quickly, the broth is packaged separate from the noodles and the vegetables so it's ready for you when you are ready and it's not getting soggy or anything. We love their pork spring rolls, The rice paper shrimp spring rolls, number 101 which is sirloin pho, and the shrimp vermicelli salad. Everything is fresh. All of the condiments are right there on the table in a clean and orderly fashion, waiting for you. No complaints. read more

Really good, clean Vietnamese food. Haven't got the Pho yet (too hot out), but the Vietnamese pork chops, noodle dishes and fried rice were very good! read more

New to Pho and Viet food but heard good reviews from other Yelpers and from friends. Pho is like an awesome stew/soup that you can get with different meats veggies and what not. It really is tasty. I haven't gotten anything else here yet but the place is really clean so there aren't any alarm bells going off as far as cleanliness goes. This stuff would be great on a cold day or when hungover. Try it out! read more

I used a Groupon for this spot recently and was satisfied. The restaurant was clean. Service was fast and polite, if not maybe a little impersonal. The nem nuong rolls were a really nice alternative to the ubiquitous spring rolls you see at all Vietnamese restaurants. I skipped the pho, my general go-to order at VN spots, and went with the bun bo hue. I was really impressed. The spectrum of taste you get in bun bo hue is so wide here in the area. Saigon 39 is watery and sparse on the meat selection in it. VN Cafe on 39th can be TOO flavorful with its heavy use of shrimp paste. This was a perfect middle-ground. Highly recommended to the more adventurous eaters, as it came with tendons, shrimp paste, and cha lua ham, all very strong in flavor and pretty authentic. I can't give a 4th star until I try this spot again for dinner to see how the service differs and to hand down a ruling on the almighty pho, but I will say for certain that the place is worth re-visiting for the two items I had. read more

So pho-king good. The pho is so hearty you will leave with a full satisfied belly. There plenty of different items to pick from on the menu and you'll be able to find a bowl that works for you. I had the Pho Good Special. The atmosphere is very simple and casual better you'll enjoy the experience. Its a very relaxing restaurant to visit and enjoy your pho in. read more

Next stop in my KC soup tour. Looking for suggestions! Pho Good was really good! I had the sliced sirloin and meatball pho and might have hit the spice a little heavy, but doable. The service was really good, fast, and quite friendly! I had a groupon for here, that came with two, so I have another visit coming soon! read more

I've been to this restaurant a couple of years and the quality has varied throughout the years as the owners changed. Currently, it is not worth going to. The pho is at most mediocre so I would just suggest going to 888 International Market and just buying instant pho packs and boil your own slices of beef and it would taste just as "good." The waitress is nice but the manager has an attitude. I had a Groupon voucher and ordered an appetizer and two bubble slashes. The manager said that I could not use the voucher because it was not an entree item. However, the voucher does not state this. It only states "dine in" and to be used on "food." It seems that they are making up their own rules. The appetizer was fine but the bubble slushes had no tapioca pearls. They did not offer a discount or anything. If you want pho, go to Cafe Vie. Their pho is good and there is no attitude. read more

I have a limited knowledge of Vietnamese food, but the kid likes pho, so we make the occasional trip to get some. Since I'm not a big fan of pho, take my review with a grain of salt. In the JO, I've had Pho Vietnam, Cafe Vie, and Pho Good. I think Pho Good's pho is the best of the three. My son thinks Pho Vietnam is just as good, if not better. I've had their grilled meat rolls, which were good, but I couldn't identify what kind of meat it was. Seemed similar to Spam, which I'm a huge fan of; however, I'm not sure I'd get the rolls again. I'll stick to their spring rolls; they're standard and good. Though I've had other items from their menu, they're not coming to memory. Their bubble tea was disappointing because the tapioca balls were all stuck to each other in one huge clump. This tends to happen with bubble tea 'round these parts, but this was by far the worst. If the kid asks for pho again, this would probably be my first choice, even if it is farther away than the others in the JO. Service is friendly and the joint is clean. read more

Every meal I have had here is amazingly delicious. I always get the pho, so I can't say if the other dishes are as tasty, but I would assume they probably are great too. The environment is very relaxed, they have bubble tea (yum!), and the service has always been great. It's really good for lunch, since everything is prepared quickly and there is lots of seating so you are never cramped. If you haven't ever had pho, but are wanting to try it, I would definitely recommend popping your pho cherry here! read more

The pho is okay, the other food is less than satisfactory...my biggest problem with this place is the menu has one price and when you pay they charge a dollar extra for each entree you ordered!!!!???? Will not be back. read more

It's Pho Okay, not Pho Great or Pho Good. But the Bun is one of the better ones in the area. We have been to place at least 1/2 dozen times. Prompt and attentive service. Good quality food. It's just the Vietnamese TV is turned up too loud. Updated 3/19/2015 I went for a run on Saturday and it was only 930 AM and I wanted some Pho. After checking Yelp, which says they're open. I decided to call to make sure. When I showed up, I realized the owner was the only one there. He gladly served me at 10AM! The soup has dramatically improved from when I first reviewed it. Good Pho indeed. Or Pho Good! read more

Pho is one of my most favorite meals ever and I am such a regular at another Kansas City Vietnamese restaurant that they know me by name. No seriously I have eaten there an average of 2-6 times a month for the past 7 years. As a recent transplant to JoCo I was excited to find a Vietnamese place near my house! The pho is good, but not the best. The broth is not as flavorful as I would like. The spring rolls and egg rolls are pretty excellent. I hate to be that person that makes a special request at a restaurant and then complains about it, but..... at my favorite pho place I order mine with additional vegetables, and they add broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and cabbage for an additional charge. Delicious! Here when I ask for that, they add broccoli and carrots, but each time they have been severely undercooked - almost raw. It seems as though they throw the veggies on right before they add the broth, whereas the other place definitely cooks them a little bit so they're not so incredibly crunchy. Requesting them to cook them longer is just a bit too much special request for me though, so in the future I'll just order it as it comes. In short, the place is good and I will eat there again! But, I know it could be way better. read more

This spot was very clean, the staff was hospitable, and our food was delicious. The only things that needed improvement were my chicken (which was tough and dry), and that my table wasn't brought any garnishes with our pho. But good pho is hard to find, especially in the Midwest, so my family & enjoyed it here. Would definitely come back. read more
