I've never had a bad experience here. Good service and great food. I got the A3 and F4. Neither disappointed either. I'll always come back. The pics do no justice cause I had already started inhaling.
The meat was a little chewy and could have had a larger serving. The meatballs were but up really small. I would guess there were maybe two balls chopped up at most. Decent pho, but with the abundance of Vietnamese restaurants, I would not feel obligated to return.
I was recommended here by my parents since they said their first time here was amazing. Unfortunately our experience wasnt that great. While walking in, we were immediately placed in front of the tv, which only had two chairs while there was four of us. They had us standing for 10 minutes at the table and it felt as we were an inconvenience to them and never redirected us back to the front. While waiting another 10 minutes, they finally told us we can sit at a booth. The server was continuously attending to other people and when we said we were ready for her, she told us she forgotten about us. I understand it can get busy and I was giving them the benefit of the doubt but we continued to feel ignored while other tables after us were being attended to. When the food arrived, they messed up our orders, we got 3 phos, an order of crab rangoon and a combination of fried rice. The pho was good, the crab rangoon could be better and the fried rice was not cooked all the way through so it was difficult to chew. The server never came back to refill our waters, asked how the food was nor asked if we needed anything. Unfortunately I would not come back again. The food was decent but the overall service really took away from all the experience.
Pho Lan 315 Cherry St, Kansas City, MO 64106 As a chef who is very hard to please, I don't hand out praise lightly--and Pho Lan earned it. This is a truly traditional Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Kansas City. I stopped in for lunch and found exactly what I look for in authentic cuisine. The service was straightforward and no-frills, which didn't bother me in the least; I came for the food, not small talk. The menu and execution spoke for themselves. The dining room was packed, and most of the guests were Vietnamese--a strong indicator that the food stays true to its roots. We ordered generously, and every dish delivered. The handmade egg rolls were crisp and well-seasoned, the batter-dipped sweet potato and shrimp were fried to a perfect golden brown, and the spicy pho had depth, balance, and real character. The pork chop was cooked properly with great flavor, the fried rice was clean and well-executed, and the beef and mushroom hot pot was rich and comforting without being heavy. The restaurant was very clean, extremely busy, and clearly doing something right. If you're searching for authentic Vietnamese food and a genuine culinary experience, Pho Lan is absolutely worth your time.
Heading to the stadium for a Chiefs game and wanted some hot Pho on a cold day. Random location, hole in the wall type of vibe. Service was friendly. I was not disappointed in their Pho! Pho 2- Rice noodle with meatballs. The broth was excellent on its own! I added my own flavors and it was a tasty bowl of Pho! My only complaint is a bit too much onion but other than that, very good!
Open early. We got the about 1030 and there were plenty of people here before us for breakfast pho. Soups are amazing, everything fresh. Service was spectacular and fast. Tons of noodles and protein. Egg rolls are crispy and delicious. Fish sauce on the table which I love. A short walk from the street car and the city market, it's worth the walk!
Nice little hole in the wall in KC for some good Vietnamese comfort food! Came in on a weekday lunch and were seated immediately tho there was a decent amount of people already inside. Plenty of seating. Decent amount of street parking. We ordered the spring rolls and pho and all were delicious!
Service was ridiculously fast. I mean within 5 mins I got my order. I ordered the pho dac biet and before I could get pass my 3rd sip of water, my order was out. It was really tasty but the broth was a bit on the sweet side. Was not anticipating that for pho. Also got a Che ba mau after and 100% would go back for it. Everyone was really nice and there was plenty of space to sit.

Loved the sweet potato fries and the N2 meatball noodles was very flavorful - great broth. The Banh Mi I wouldn't order again - nothing special there. Overall though, solid place for a quick vietnamese meal.
When I saw an article on January 6th from Kansas City Magazine that ranked the top 30 restaurants in KC for 2024, I saw a Vietnamese restaurant I had never heard of but it was walking distance from my KC GOAT, Vietnam Cafe (VC). Pho Lan is in a rundown, nondescript building that we all drive past and never give a second look at, but as someone who lived in San Diego, Toronto and New York, I know some of the best magic happens in those type of places. I ordered a combination pho and with good tip and tax, it came to just under $18. This is on the low side in KC metro, but the thing is that low price does NOT equal low quality. In terms of the meat, broth and vegetables, they rival their cross field compatriots (they are basically separated by an unused lot that looks a bit like a field and are less than 1/3 of a mile from each other) in terms of quality and taste. They were both equal in flavor, which is a tremendous compliment in my mind. Does that mean they are equal when it comes to their Pho? No. While cheaper, they do not have the quantity of meat either. You just get a bit MORE at VC, which I guess evens out their price difference. Also, I found their noodles to be less chewy, like they had been sitting in the soup a bit too long, so they had become a bit mushy. It was the only thing that separated them, but it was noticeable. So is VC still the better restaurant? Not necessarily. The problem I can have with Vietnam Cafe is it's popularity. There have been waits of up to 30 minutes. That also limits parking if you are driving in. There are other times were they crank up the music off the TV's as well. Pho Lan is a more subdued experience. On 12:45 p.m. on a Saturday, it was only half full and there was no music or it was on really low. The only thing that may bother people (not me) is that they had a lot of incense burning. I suggest you all give both family run businesses a chance and make your own decisions. Meanwhile, all us living south of the 435 will keep on waiting for our version of Pho Lan/Vietnam Cafe to open up....one day.....
Two years after my initial visit to Pho Lan; I actually had a pho dish this past weekend, and it was perfection. My large bowl of bbq pork slices and wontons floating in the most savory chicken broth with a bed of egg noodles, onions, chives, and a dusting of fried garlic! The most enjoyable and delicious bowl of pho ever. Add a cafe-sua-da and a spring roll and what a perfect way to spend lunch on a brisk December Saturday. Service is always efficient and water glasses never go unfilled, which is a good thing if you like adding on the sriracha and jalapeño's. Be prepared to share a 6 top with strangers at busy times.

Auntie can be look mean but she is nice . Son is very friendly. Quick stop for my hubby we order pho combo, small pho meatballs and quails. Pho broth a little too sweet for me. The quails it's delicious. It's my first time but hubby and son had been here. Place is clean and plenty seatings. read more

I had such a great experience here! I went an hour before they closed and still received excellent services. The pho was incredibly flavorful, the broth was rich, aromatic, and clearly made with care. You can tell it's been simmering for hours because every spoonful had so much depth. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the portions were generous. I also loved how fresh all the toppings were, especially the herbs and bean sprouts. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere felt clean, cozy, and welcoming. Whether you're coming in for a quick meal or to sit and relax, it's a great spot. Definitely one of the best pho places in KC I've tried. I'll be coming back for sure! read more

Amazing service! Food was out faster than 10 minutes. The PHO is it DIE for! Our crab rangoons came out fresher than Dr Dre himself :)! Definitely recommend coming here ^_^! read more

Came here based off of the reviews and because I was craving pho and had to have it! My go to spot was closed so I decided to come here. I had the beef stew pho which is my favorite!!! So much flavor in every bite! However the beef stew pho here was good but it wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked it to be. The beef stew meat was very tender and the broth needed some extra love. After I put my finish and touches on it was just fine. I ordered the spring rolls, besides the rice paper being very chewy they were good. Veggies seemed to be very fresh. The service could've been better, I had to keep asking for things rather then being checked on. The price and portions of the food were GREAT! I must say you definitely get more bank for your buck here! I had leftovers from my pho for dinner and lunch! Glad I gave this place a try but I'll be sticking to my go too. read more

My husband and I recently went to Pho Lan, and it's definitely worth considering if you're a fan of Vietnamese cuisine. Here's what I liked and what they could improve: *The highlight? The food - oh man, it was delicious! I got the vermicelli noodles with eggroll, pork, and shrimp, and it was so full of flavor and everything was so fresh!! Everything was cooked to perfection, and as usual with good Vietnamese food, the textures and tastes left me wanting more. If you're into Vietnamese food, you'll love it here. * The server was very attentive and made sure our glasses were full and our dining experience was pleasant. *One thing to improve - the atmosphere and decor. It's pretty sparse...but honestly, who cares when the food is so good? It's the food that draws people in, of course...but I think they could spend a bit more time on decorating for the people who care a lot about the ambiance. Overall, Pho Lan is great for fantastic Vietnamese food, if you're okay with a bit of a lack of ambiance - for us, it's the food alone that will keep us coming back. So give Pho Lan a try - you're going to love it! read more
This place doesn't look like much and is easy to miss, but Pho Lan is easily one of the best pho / all-around Vietnamese spots in KC. It can hold up against Vietnam Cafe, which is just a few blocks away but is definitely better known. I'm still deciding which place has the better pho, but I'm tempted to say it's Pho Lan. At Pho Lan, the ratio of noodles to meat to soup is solid, the soup base is richer to the point where it can stand on its own, and the pho is cheaper (by at least a dollar per bowl) than at Vietnam Cafe. The quality of the meat and vegetables is comparable at both places (that is to say, it's hit or miss. Super fresh or leaves you wanting). Pho Lan also has a strong array of non-pho items. They have an off-menu banh mi made with fresh bread, homemade butter, and pork pate that was recently written about in KC Mag I've been dying to try, and their bun (mixed noodle) and broken rice offerings are great as well. read more
I have been to Pho Lan quite a few times and I have never been disappointed. This trip I tried the Thai Basel Chicken Stir Fried Entree and it was delicious! The flavors paired well with the rice. It was slightly salty for me but nothing overwhelming. The staff is very friendly and helpful, as well! read more

Traveling to cafe ca phe, I discovers pho Lan. I decided to drop in. I got the hu tieu and it reminded me of my moms cooking. Pho lan has this homey nostalgic feel for me. Pho lans menu is really good with dishes I wouldn't typically see at a Vietnamese restaurant. There's chim cut, banh uot, nem nuong, and bun Bo hue. Their menu is really authentic imo. Just a personal observation, but when I see a menu at a Vietnamese restaurant and the food is written out in viet versus English, it's a green flag for me. They included a description in English underneath which is helpful. I can only write this based on my hu tieu, but the broth was flavorful, the ingredients taste fresh, loved the homey atmosphere, and the staff/team was friendly. I like this place, I think it's worth trying for Kansas City viet cuisine. 10 10 would dine in again. read more
This is a hidden gem. I have been looking for a great Pho place in KC for awhile now. I was pleasantly surprised by the great service and delicious food. I order take out and they packaged everything up beautifully so that I could assemble an amazing bowl of Pho at home. The broth is so good, quaitly meat and all of the great accompaniments basil, sprouts, lime! I definitely recommend this as a go to Pho spot! read more
This is my 3rd place trying bun bo Hue in KC and this was by far the best. This one really stood out on some real spice and great broth flavor, packed with meat and enough pork blood for a family. This is a really good size portion, as you can see this huge bowl is full to the brim, for about $14. I love how slurpy these noodles are but mostly I'll be left with the thought that I could sip this broth every day. read more

I have loved Pho Lan sinnce I was a young boy, my newst challenge is to try everythong on the menu, if anyone wants to come help give me a hollar. This was chicken shrimp pork pho with all the garlic and spring rolls. The spicey soups are great and ask for tge secret chili paste they used to have on tge table but now by request. read more
