Had the banh Bao and was rather disappointed. Meat was not as savoury as I'd like it and the egg shows signs of it being microwaved. Bun rieu was delicious though. Nice to see some still using the blood cubes. Definitely reminded me of mom's cooking since I'm not home. Also did an order of their pho dac biet for take out, seemed kinda light for the beef but maybe I'll have to dine in and see if there's a difference. Been here quite a few times now and it's easily one of my favorite Vietnamese places in KC. It's in the Northland which is great for me as it's a very short commute. Everything I've tried here has always been fresh and delicious. The service is also great. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The bun bo hue, com ga xoi mo, rice dishes, vermicelli bowls are all super yummy. One of my favorite dishes from this place that I haven't seen at other Vietnamese places around town is the xoi man. The rice is sticky and soft and goes well with the lap xuong. I highly recommend trying it if you never had it! Looking forward to going here again soon! read more

I'm a fan of Vietnamese cuisine. I love that Vietnamese restaurants are popping up all over the place, at least in the city. Some are great, some not so much. So it was an easy call to try Pho Tuoi. Turns out they are on the great side of the spectrum. I usually will go with the Bun Chay (vegan noodle salad) but on this visit, since we were in the midst of a polar vortex that would turn your breath into crystallized ice daggers, pho was the obvious choice. It was vegan and very tasty. By the end, I dispensed with the spoon and started chugging the remaining broth from the bowl, like a starving Visogoth. The tofu spring rolls were very good, also, if not anything overly exceptional. My wife and daughter, both opted for meat dishes (Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio and beef pho) and also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My daughter had some sort of gelatinized pig blood floating in her broth. I swear I could see it pulsating but can't be sure because she devoured it with the intensity of a voracious jackal. The servers were all super friendly and took good care of us, in an efficient group effort. The space itself was perfectly fine, plenty of condiments and chopsticks available at each table. In the end, we ordered a couple of Banh Mi sandwiches to go. These, too, were delicious and worthy of a return trip. read more

We have been here a number of times but brought it home to eat it. Which was very good but food is always usually better when you eat at the place. So we did tonight and honestly either way it's so good. I think this is officially our favorite place for Pho. We would drive downtown to get Pho usually and they're good but not this good. The broth is drinkable it's so flavorful. I had the small steak Pho bowl and my husband got the vermicelli pork and loves it. Daughter and friend got Chicken Noodle Pho and loved it so much. Broth for this was very good as well where normally she leaves all the broth. Not so today. Again everything is so flavorsome and fresh with nice portion sizes. We also had the fresh spring rolls, very tasty and has the shrimp in them too. The peanut sauce is one of the best in town. If you like traditional Vietnamese this is definitely the place to go. Went here for lunch last week with a friend of mine. We started with spring rolls and crab rangoons, we really enjoyed both. My friend got the pho and the broth was delicious and full of flavor. Pho Tuoi is hands down the best pho in north of the river. The broth is on point and there is even a choice to get fresh made noodles. There are 7 different cuts of meat to choose from. I opted for the combination pho which has all 7 cuts included. It seems like they did some remodeling. The newly decorated dining room looks a lot like the restaurants in the bigger cities in Vietnam. It also seems like they have broaden the menu since the last time I was in. It's not their fault or anything, it's just that the other place is SO GOOD, so I always think I might be disappointed trying a new place. Well, I was wrong, because Pho Tuoi was AMAZING. This is what I usually get at all Vietnamese restaurants because I love it so much. This is a sweet dish, and the amount of sweetness was just perfect - not cloying like some I've had. It had SO much flavor, I'm glad I stepped outside the box and tried a different choice of protein. So I was just sitting at my table for about 20-25mins after I finished eating and noticed my server never came back to my table, or checked to see how I was doing. Not a great experience as the food was standard fair Korean grocery store food. The steamed pork buns were certainly frozen then microwaved which was disappointing having come from an area of the country with the best steamed buns. The pho broth was tasty but the proteins were over cooked and tge fresh noodles did not taste fresh. This shopping center area in Gladstone boasts 4 Asian restaurants all of which serve Pho so your game needs to be strong ti get the fame. Was a cold day in KC and my daughter and I thought some Pho sounded delicious. We were in Gladstone and so I just looked up pho in the area. This place popped up. I had never been and never even seen it even though the owner said they had been in business 5 years! We were seated immediately and after looking over menu we ordered egg rolls and 2 bowls of sliced beef pho, one small and one medium with a $2 price difference. The egg rolls came out pretty quickly they were nice and hot and came with a yummy light sauce but not sure what it was. I will say the rolls are tiny and you only get 4 for $6. They were tasty though and my daughter said we should definitely come back for more. The pho was good, mine had plenty of meat. I didn't know to check out you have to go up to the register and pay. We didn't receive a bill or receipt but maybe it we would have asked for one. They had nice packets of sauce to take to go and they also have little complimentary candies and suckers. I cannot believe it, but I found a place who has pho' and it is so good that I probably prefer it over Vietnam Cafe on Campbell! They have cheap Pho and good spring rolls and are located in the same Plaza as the best boba in Kansas City (Go Cha) and actually in the whole state of Missouri for that matter. Under new ownership, the staffs are prompt and friendly, place is nicely renovated and clean, but lastly... their Pho is absolutely amazing. The broth is smokey, which is the proper flavor when you roast the onions and ginger with open flames. The meat cuts are tender, fresh, and you can choose the noodles to be fresh (vs dried). I recommend the upgrade which isn't offer at any other pho restaurants in KC. The bun bo hue is very nice, so good that we didn't need to add anything else to it. Such a cute and up to date interior, not what I was expecting from the outside. Lots of space and various seating including booths. The staff was very kind to us and helped to split our items easily to accommodate us. We ordered the medium combo bowls with a couple apps. This place is a hit or miss so don't risk and waste your money. This place is going downhill. The pho is occasionally good and sometimes bad. The last time I was here the noodles and meats were disappointing and terribly chewy. The fried rice was like the cook pour a whole container of garlic powder in it, the meat was tough and hard. I ordered the pho with my usually egg noodles (I don't like the taste or texture of egg noodles). My friend also ordered pho. They offered two types of rice noodles, the large type and small type. I didn't realize this because I ordered mine with egg noodles. My brother ordered the bun bo hue. My pho was pretty good and had everything I wanted. The egg noodles were made pretty well and wasn't too soggy. The flavor of the broth was good. My brothers bun bo hue was good also, but it wasn't spicy or flavorful enough for me. Tonight was a new experience for me, vegetarian pho. I want to be clear that this restaurant does not specialize in vegetarian, which is fine by me because I am not a vegan. However once I saw it on the menu, I had to try the pho without meat. A dish that is really usually chock full of different meaty parts could be a problem sans those parts. It wasn't. In place of the meat was Dikon radish, carrots, tofu and lots of good broth. I was provided with basil sprouts peppers and the lime wedges, I added all of them except the lamb. I then began to enjoy my soup. After a little bit I decided to add some Sarot Cha and some Hoisin. This only heightened what was already a good experience to a great one. I also had some very good spring rolls, they were a little larger than usual and had a great crunch to them. The vegetables inside were crunchy and it had a nice basil character to it. The shrimp were fresh and clean. A thorough pleasure to eat. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good Vietnamese food. read more
