After trying Broken Rice and their banh mi, I also stopped by San's to try theirs. Overall, I think there were some things than San's did better - the banh mi was bigger for roughly the same price, and the loaf was better made as well. However, I will say that even then, the bread at San's wasn't quite what I wanted - the exterior crust was soft, and not crisp and flaky like I want and expect from a traditional banh mi. Regardless, flavor was good, fillings were plentiful, and service was fast. There's also a lot of table seating inside, so you could dine in if you wanted.

My mom is viet and she approves and I loved it too. The amount of food you get is good and they have your sauces ready already on the table. The service was good. You'll seat yourself and they bring over the menu to your table. The place gives what vietnam feels and it smells good in there.

Skillet beef was pricey at $18 but had a piece of delicious super fatty steak, fried egg, various banh mi veggies, and some meatballs and a crusty roll. The soy milk was tasty and had some coconut flavor to it. The bbq pork banh mi was good and would have been better w more pate or a sauce.

I love a Banh Mi sandwiches and now I have another place to go, San's Sandwiches in Gladstone, MO. We got the #4, pork simmered in Chinese char siu sauce. My favorite part was the broth on the side. I'm a sucker for crusty bread and meat dipped in a super flavorful broth. I have no idea if I was suppose to dip my Banh mi, but I did and will do it again. Now the spring rolls! Theirs had crispy pork and shrimp with a spicy peanut sauce. So good.

Top tier pho restaurant! Only 15 items on the menu, but everything is delicious. The Bun Bo Hue broth has depths of flavor and the pho broth is rich.

Their bun bo hue is so good if you like spicy beef noodles. Can't go wrong with their banh mi. They definitely change it up, doesn't look like they make their own bread anymore due to high demands but they still got a good size portions of their banh mi. My boyfriend and I been here and we like it. Service can be slow here but it is definitely a mom and pop store. They take their time to make their food to prepare the freshness. Due to inflation, lots of items have risen but food still hits. Would come back again.

I like this place. The Vietnamese food is delicious and all the dishes are good portions. Everything comes out hot and fresh. They don't skimp on the meat and veggies on any of the dishes. I love getting banh mi here too. They're large and they pack them to the brim. The service can be a little slow because they have a small staff but the food is always well worth the wait.

I came here to try and waste some more of the Sans of time, and I did so successfully. Another great Vietnamese Banh Mi place in a plaza full of Vietnamese places, not what you would expect to find a few miles north of downtown Kansas City. It is definitely the best Plaza in town for this kind of food. So these are amazing sandwiches and the plaza also has the best boba in the state, Go Cha, which is just across the plaza. Definitely come and try a sandwich here when you're in town.

Got some food tonight to go. They were out of the meatball bahn mi which I really wanted but it was towards the end of the night so I get it. The other items I got did not disappoint. I didn't have an issues ordering like some of the other reviews. Will definitely come back!

Visited for lunch on a quiet Monday. As other reviewers have said, you're supposed to find a table yourself, and then they will bring a menu to you. There is a language barrier, but the menus have lots of photos so you're pretty sure to know what you're ordering. I had the fried egg roll dish, which was a bowl full of greens, a fried egg roll, and cooked pork. I also had a spring roll, with peanut sauce. There was so much flavor, and the pork was delicious; like bacon. Compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, the customer service isn't refined but you should be pleased with the taste and value for your money.

Very friendly and fast service! We went for lunch on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy. We both got the #1 sandwich and egg rolls. Both were super good! Egg rolls were perfect. Sandwiches were fresh and tasted great. Place seemed clean and staff was very nice. Also decently priced. We will definitely be back.

    Bo ne - sizzling beef
    Stacie Y.

My favorite dish here is their Bo Ne, which is their sizzling beef plate with egg, pate, homemade meatballs, and a banh mi roll. How to eat this is to tear a piece of the bread, dip it in the juices and pate, add a slice of steak or egg on top and eat it. It's delicious! Their banh mi here is good too and so is their bun bo hue. The rating is based on their food only as their service is questionable some times so don't expect excellent, above and beyond service.

Simple menu, FABULOUS food. We had the chicken sandwich, pork sandwich and fried egg rolls...out of our normal comfort food zone but it's now fully accepted in. So good!

What really stood out right away was the service. The lady taking our orders was incredibly nice and personable, and she actually took the time to walk us through the menu to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. I went with the #5, which is their version of a Sicilian Muffuletta. It was phenomenal. It's stacked with mortadella, salami, provolone, ham, and Swiss cheese, topped perfectly with a red wine vinaigrette chopped olive salad, all sitting on a beautifully toasted seeded loaf. One of my friends ordered the #20 Reuben, and it was a masterpiece. We're talking melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu corned beef, legit sauerkraut from Brooklyn, house-made Russian dressing, and melty Swiss, all piled high between two buttery, toasted slices of marble rye bread. Naturally, I also grabbed a couple of their homemade chocolate chip cookies, and we got a raspberry and blueberry tiramisu that was absolutely terrific. You just can't leave a place like this without hitting the dessert menu! I consider myself very lucky to have experienced this spot. Recently, I tried their mac and cheese, burnt ends, potato salad, and beans. It's good. ...Just not amazing. The food seems fresh, the place always seems clean. The younger man that owns/runs the place is very nice. The parking can sometimes be an issue because they're located in a small trip mall connected to an apartment complex. Their prices are also just a little expensive in my humble opinion. The BBQ sauce isn't really anything to write home about. I would say that Off The Hook provides a very solid choice for BBQ in the northland. I like it better than F325 BBQ, Scott's Kitchen, and Wolfpack BBQ. It's similar in level to Char Bar, and maybe Oklahoma Joe's, but falls short to Q39. And I think it still has a way to go to beat Jack Stack BBQ.

We went for lunch and ordered the Italian beef sandwich and the Angry Capone pizza. Both were really good and we did not expect it to be this tasty. The Italian beef was cooked perfectly and was tender at every bite with the right amount of cheese and spicy peppers. The pizza was even better!! It had a nice crispy base and was full of good toppings like Italian beef, smashed meatballs, pepperoni, lots of cheese and spicy peppers. I love spicy food so I really enjoyed it. Everything was hot, cheesy, a little spicy and very flavorful. If I have to choose between the two , I would pick the pizza over the sandwich. This Bay Boy is a small window located inside The Commons which is connected to Cinderblock Brewery but, don't be fooled by its small stature it still carries the full menu of the West Plaza location. The one thing it boasts is you can grab a brew from with The Commons bar or from Cinderblock while your sandwich is crafted. And don't fret because these sandwiches are well worth any wait they may take! What makes Bay Boy utterly unforgettable is the Dutch crunch bread. This unique crackly slightly crunchy but still, oh so pillowy soft bread is the perfect vessel to hold all the fillings of any of the sandwiches on the extensive menu. My number one recommendation sadly is not always on the menu but if you catch it you better order it! It is called The Blue Blaze and it consists of juicy white meat turkey, peppery arugula, melty mild white cheddar and locally sourced spicy blueberry jam. It's the perfect combination of sweet and savory with a kick. Another winner is the Wagyu Nebraskan if you want a bougie take on a Rueben. The Wagyu corned beef is locally sourced and is melt in your mouth paired with a slightly sweet kraut, nutty Swiss cheese and the tangy thousand island this sandwich is an elevated take on a classic. Another winner, well let's just face it any sandwich at Bay Boy is a winner winner chicken dinner (in the words of the iconic Guy Fieri), but let's focus on another rift of a classic sandwich the El Jefe. This is Bay Boy's take on a Cubano but unlike its predecessor the bread isn't flat or pressed it's on a Dutch crunch roll like every sandwich on the menu. The mojo pork is buttery and fatty- in a good way- making the meat so moist that combined with salty ham, melted Swiss and zingy briny pickles makes for a killer combination. Don't forget the mustard! And how Bay Boy makes it there own is with an addition of a zesty vibrant red pepper sauce. You can't help but to love El Jefe. I could go on and on about how each sandwich is unparalleled but, I'll just bore you with one more...The Bay Boy, I couldn't cover Bay Boy's without mentioning the sandwich that the restaurant was named after (or was it the other way around) anyways it doesn't matter. The Bay Boy is a cold sandwich (unlike the other ones I mentioned which are all toasty) which may sound simple but, the medley of flavors is paired down perfection. No pile of meats just stand alone Soppressata which shouldn't need any introduction because it's the superior salami. This sandwich gets sauced down with not one, not two but four sauces that make the sandwich anything but dry. Classic mayo and mustard are alongside a creamy pungent garlic sauce and a red pepper sauce, which is a mix of cherry and banana peppers. Then produce is added for freshness, think lettuce, tomato and zippy raw red onions (my personal favorite) with pickles of course! This truly is a sandwich masterpiece.

It's a walk-up window, super lowkey, but the food is not playing. I got a turkey sandwich with gouda and peppers, added blueberry jam, and grabbed a bag of chips on the side. The bread is really what sets it off. Crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, and it actually holds everything together. The turkey and gouda were solid, peppers gave it a little bite, and that blueberry jam added just enough sweetness to balance everything out without being weird about it. I paused after the first bite because it caught me off guard in a good way. Finished the whole thing, chips and all. Simple setup, really good food, and I'll absolutely be back.
