Another movie, another post-movie dinner at Pho City. This time, on a Monday night at 630pm, the establishment seemed sparsely populated. I ordered the P7 pho ($16) with pho steak (that's what the menu says), flank steak, and meatballs. This arrived w/in 5 minutes. The soup was hot enough to absorb the bean sprouts without cooling down, and seemed adequately flavored. Back here in a Sunday funday after my daughter's swim class. She wanted some pho and she picked this spot. We ordered our usual springs with shrimp and pork. It's always good and the sauce is made to perfection with the peanut sauce. We shared P7 which is a pho bowl with lots of different meats. She love their pho here, the broth is so flavorful and the meats are always fresh. Yes it's a little pricier than other pho spots but it's really good. Everything came packed really well and arrived nice and hot - you can tell they know how to handle takeout orders properly. I'm stuck at work with no food options so I ended up ordering from here Here's what I got Pho with skirt flank I'm knocking off stars for the following reasons 1i asked for no cilantro specifically and as you can see, I still got it(vile weed!) 2 very small meat portion. They charge extra for tendon. I'm used to Vietnamese places where you can mix and match the types of cut you want into the bowl. Which brings me to my next 3 The price was exorbitant. This bowl cost me $17 which is highway robbery 4 they nickel and dime you. They charge extra for Sriracha packets. If you want more of anything you're going to be paying extra eg hoisin, Sriracha 5 Even though I picked it up at the specified time, the soup just wasn't piping hot. I realize it's going to be a little bit of a delay compared to when you eat in the restaurant, but I expected it to be much hotter compared to takeout. I've done at other places for Vietnamese. I tried Pho City once when they were just open up at the loop. I had pho soup n spring rolls. They were just OK and too expensive. Today we went because Teriyaki Madness was full no more table available for us to sit. So I figured lets try it again. They changes alot there. They have life music? Now. Big TVs it said sport bar. Anyway, we were there around 3:30-ish and -it was empty until we left an hour later still empty. Which make sense?- ‍ we ordered, bahn me, tom yum and lok lac (shaking beef). Loc lac not bad, but odd. It doesn't come w peppery vinegar which is thats what typical loc lac is. -Either they add it before they serve it to us or put it on the side for us to add it, by our self-And i hv to pay for egg that supposed to come w loc lac (typical loc lac) over all its edible. Then come my husband's tom yum about 5mins later, the spice level is good, the sourness is ok, the soup is very hot which is fine. So we start eating, and 30 minutes later start to wonder if they forgot the bahn me, besides sandwich typically is the one that pretty fast compare to making rice dishes and soup right? But since we pretty full we decided not to remind them and we can share. As my husband finishing up my loc lac, the sandwich came. We were like.... Dude we are done here. "We thought u forgot". So we ask to pack them go. We tried it once we get to our car, the bread..... Its a heatted stale bread, once we tried to eat it, it crumbles way more than cookie. I seen liver consistency 'look alike' that surprisingly not bothered me, (i hate liver) i asked the waiter if they come w liver pate in it he said no, so i believe him). Oh! We also ordered Vietnamese coffee, its taste like ashes (super burnt taste) with condensed milk. I love Vietnamese coffee and even they are very intense coffee flavor, it never burnt. Will i be back? I love the bunbohue here!! But I have to give it a three stars for the inconsistency regarding quantity of food. I've gotten take out here 3 times now and every time i've gotten bunbohue they've given me different amount of food. The first time, there was no meat, the second time my experience was amazing!!! i even ordered extra noodle for my husband's bowl and the portion was heaping. So i was thinking the first was just a fluke. This third time, looks like theyve decreased the broth which is fine, but it also looks like theyve decreased the meats and the bean sprouts and basil. And the extra noodles this time... it was nonexistent. Its like a few extra strands. Keep in mind that the extra noodles are 5 dollars extra. So i'm a bit disappointed. I want to be able to get take out here without wondering if its going to be the appropriate amount. Finally got to try the new Pho City in Methuen @ the Loop. Its a big space, nice and clean and well decorated. Ordered an appitizer of chicken dumplings which came at the end of the meal. 2 of them had opened up and were kind of a mess and afterthought. THe pho was decent. We had to ask for a condiment tray (hosin, hot sauce, etc) and there were no limes services with the basil and sprouts. So overall it was just ok. NOt great. I will return again to give it another shot. read more

Surprisingly the food here was amazing and decently price. Great services and awesome staffs . Fried rice was packed with flavors , the pho broth was also flavorful with the oxtail . They have some great Vietnamese appetizers to go along with your drinks. Lobsters was also good like Chinatown. All in all it was a great experience here. read more

I love the atmosphere, very open and spacious. It wasn't overly crowded which I was surprised considering the location. The waiter was also nice and attentive. The food on the other hand didn't taste authentic as I expected. The Radna Noodles was a little bit on the salty side and had too much undercooked egg on it. The Crab Rangoon wasn't creamy like ones I'm use too. My boyfriend's Pho came out with hoisin and sriracha packages and they ran out of basil. The only thing that taste pretty decent is the Eggrolls. I think it's missing something, it's not giving the mom and pop shop authenticity in there dishes. Overall, it was just okay. Had lunch there today. The Big Beef Pho for $25.00. Shared with my wife and had a couple of fresh spring rolls with the peanut sauce. Delicious and an o.k. Value. Looks like you could bring a group to this place and each order a different entree. Fried rice, rice vermicelli and pho also pad Thai... Lots of choices to share at the table. Nice large ice water glass mugs. Total $35.00 plus a $5 tip and good to go!! Francisco welcomed us and did the serving. Nice and easy check out at the table! We arrived about 2pm on a weekday, as we missed any lunch rush and were meet by a server who opened the door and greeted us and we where seated promptly. The space is open and colorful. The indoor landscape was spotted with small aquariums that appeared greenish and needy cleaning, but other than that the dining area was clean and inviting. (My lovely dining partner explained it was the "Not Average Joes" room and fixtures with bamboo and the little aquariums added- plus a set of triple Buddhas and a colorful Asian themed mural - so they tried.) Our server appeared unable to answer a question I had about the Pho noodles and what came with them, but quickly found someone to help. In a reasonable amount of time my question was answered that the Pho dishes came with the traditional Thai Basil and Lime, but they didn't have a any bean sprouts. It was finally clarified that bean sprouts come with but they were out. (It may be time for a manager to run to Market Basket). Tried Pho City in Methuen today for the first time and I have mixed feelings. Firstly let me say the crab Rangoon were amazing. Very crispy and the filling was very seasoned and tasty. The best I have had in the area I ordered the spicy beef pho and honestly I would not get it again. The broth was good but not spicy at all, the noodles were a little over cooked for my liking, but the worst part was the meat. it was extremely fatty, chewy, and tasteless. The beef had a strange green metallic color to it shown in bottom left of last photo. The service was just okay. Had to ask for water multiple times and he forgot & forgot a tea we ordered but charged us anyways. When it was time to pay they have you insert your card right there with no time to review the charges and also you choose the tip while they stand there holding the card reader. So when I finally got a receipt with the charges we had to go up to the hostess and ask for the waiter, who did offer to refund us or make the tea to go. We chose to get the tea to go. Was really disappointed by the terrible service here. Came in the first time and had us waiting for over an hour for the food to come out. The food was okay so we gave this place a second chance. Took my daughter there for late lunch a few days ago. I'm always down to try any Asian cuisines that can save me a trip to Lowell or Beantown. The atmosphere was great. Big screen TVs, great decors, and seating galore. The food was mehhhhhh mehhhhhhh (that's a long meh) Started with the spring rolls (pork and shrimp) with the house peanut sauce. The rolls are two rolls cut in halves to make four, the size of the rolls is smaller than an average hotdog. The rolls were stuffed with a thin slice of blanched pork, one shrimp (sliced in halves), lettuce, and rice noodle. The protein was basically nonexistent. My soda (coke) was flat. Time to pho! I had the pho tai, nam, Bo vien. The broth was bland bland bland, I had to ask for fish sauce to adjust the taste before adding hoisin and sa te... the service was ok... the waitress was too attentive, felt like I'm being rushed, considering the restaurant was half emptied. Overall the place is ok if I don't want to cook or take the drive towards Lowell. But I'll have to come back at least one more time to sit at the bar/lounge. read more
