    chicken pho

One of the best Vietnamese places in Prague! Everything here is so delicious. The food is pretty cheap and comes out really fast. Excellent place to stop for lunch that's not an overpriced tourist trap.

Duck bun but the meat tasted like beef.

The cashier had an attitude and was not very helpful. The food was not authentic and the sauce for Bun was just a mixer of oyster sauce and soy sauce. The meat in the pho was not right, disappointed. The ambience was fantastic.

Delicious food with depth of flavor. Bathrooms needed cleaning and it was very warm in the restaurant.

A few hours after the food tour, we were all still stuffed but not stuffed enough that we wanted to skip dinner. Something light and flavorful needed to happen and so we decided on pho. Vietnamese soup for dinner is about as far from Czech stodge as you can get, right? The pho was delicious. I chose a pho ga, which is chicken in a chicken broth. Not spicy but flavorful and plenty of it. Good chicken, plenty of noodles, lots of veggies. I also had an order of summer rolls, which they initially forgot and then apologetically brought to the table after a polite reminder. Pilsner Urquell and other beers available in cans or bottles. English was spoken by all, quite well. The menu is also in Czech and English. [Review 12226 overall, 2010 of 2019.]

In A Nutshell: -Pho Bar located in Prague has a booming business. -Why? Well since there are many Asian tourists visiting (like me), you have a craving for some Asian food. -I ordered a bowl of one of their five pho choices. -You're basically eating instant pho w/ no herbs, no hoisin sauce, no Sriracha & heavy MSG. -I've had better pho up in Iceland during winter! -The spring roll was basically shrimps & noodles. Overall, you'll find other Vietnamese restaurants in Prague (due to the surprisingly large Vietnamese population), so if I were you I'd check those out.

This place is really good. It's not easy finding a great Asian food place in Prague but we totally got lucky on this one. We ordered the spring roll, pho bo tai, and the chicken curry. Everything tasted so good, lots of flavors, and super perfect for a cold day like today. I highly recommend Pho Bar if you're looking for some Asian comfort food.

Fast service for a group of twelve of us, very friendly and helpful staff, nice system of busing trays and dishes, pretty wooden tables and booths and bars everywhere. Feels full of warmth and light but without being cluttered. Delicious marinade for the tofu and would really recommend the noodles :) Great place

Pretty good. The soup over here is priced really reasonably compared to the US. Not a lot of English spoken, mostly Vietnamese.

After a less than stellar with a meat-alternative traditional Czech dish at another Prague…read morerestaurant, I didn't have high expectations for Maitrea. I decided I would try it anyway because it was in the area and had such good reviews, and I'm so glad I did! The transitional dish I opted for this time was the svíčková, some kind of soy meat cutlet topped with cranberry sauce, whipped cream, and some kind of creamy sauce covering the whole thing. Bread dumplings came with it, which were perfect for soaking up that creamy sauce. I'm not really sure how to describe what it tasted like as it was unlike anything I've ever eaten, but it was all flavorful, rich, and delicious! The whipped cream seemed especially random to me, but it was unsweetened so it wasn't actually too out of place. The meat alternative that was used was not too spongy, which often is the case with soy-based products. The ambiance is very cozy - I sat downstairs but it didn't feel like I was in a basement at all. No complaints about service either, and I appreciated that you could pay via the QR code at your table so I didn't have to worry about flagging a waitress down for the check. All in all a great experience and if I'm ever in Prague again, I will be back!

The ambiance has a very bohemian and soothing touch, you can see fountains and buddha statues all along. Maitrea is a complete vegetarian restaurant, serving local Czech delicacies. I tried the vegan Ghaloush and it was so so good. Typical Czech dishes are meat heavy so I am glad I got an opportunity to try something local and appreciate it. The dish had stewed veggies, a lot of spices and flavour and was served with horseradish dumplings and bread. Most of the tables around me had ordered Aperol Spritz, and I ordered the same, it was so good! Are you even on vacation if you don't drink Aperol/ Mai Tai?! Maitrea serves local delicacies as well as other vegetarian cuisines to fit everyone's palate. My vegetarian/ vegan friends, definitely give this place a try!

There's vegetarian magic in the air at the Lekha Hlava Clear Head Restaurant in Prague…read more We'll start with the very cool location. It is off a quiet side street down a clean and safe-feeling but still mysterious alley - like its location is a secret. Our reservation was for 6:30 pm and they asked if we thought we'd be done by 8:00 - probably so we wouldn't see the next party taking our table and they wouldn't see us. Let's keep the all the info secure - that's what's best for everyone. If the omnivores find out about this place, the fate of the whole known universe could be at risk. What if everyone wanted to eat at vegetarian restaurants? Crazy, right? VIPs like our family (ha!) sit in the Blue Heaven room where the tables are fire. Seriously- they light up and glow like flaming wood logs with a starry sky above. Even the greatest sorcerers from history would be impressed. Love the theming. Magical. We began our meal with the Small Clear Head starter, featuring "Tofuie Gras", hummus and guacamole. The hummus and guac were both excellent- but the star of the show was the fake foie gras. This is a vegetarian restaurant- no geese were harmed yet the texture was perfect, the taste convincing and the mix with the jelly divine. Wowsa. Loved this dish. I also really enjoyed my Bao Bun Burger. I was going to do the Spinach Chimney but diverted at the last minute because I'd overdosed on this trip on potatoes already, and au gratin was more than I could handle. My daughter liked her Stir-Fry Noodles. My wife was indifferent on her Parmesan Pleasure Burger but I think she was jealous of my Bao Bun. We skipped dessert. Beyond just the wonderful food, there was so much about this restaurant that felt fun, interesting and surprising. Including the bathroom. Behind the toilet there's an opening to a dark empty space - it is truly a creepy void. What's back there? There's also a very old door with a bone-chilling stair down to a dark cellar. What's down there? What about upstairs - what happens there? More mysteries. There's magic in the air at Lekha Hlava Clear Head Restaurant. It is worth a visit, for vegetarians and omnivores too.

The only thing is, it's a bit of a small restaurant so you either have to make a reservation or happen to show up at a time when there's a table available. I ordered the quesadillas and a Virgin Mojito made with green tea. The quesadillas were yummy! They came with a side of salsa that had the perfect (if not more) amount of kick, and some sour cream. In Europe, apparently quesadillas aren't finger food so I was trying to cut mine with the knife, and ended up struggling quite a bit. I think my knife wasn't sharp enough, but I didn't bother asking for a new one since I was already almost finished. So be wary of the blunt knives. The Virgin Mojito was very good! They used green tea instead of the rum, and my aunt said it still tasted like a regular Mojito because of the amount of lime and mint used. Plus, it came with a handy metal straw that wouldn't let all the mint and lime go up the straw when you took a sip. Perfect refreshing drink if you're not looking for something alcoholic!

It really stands out as a place that takes traditional flavors seriously while making them accessible and enjoyable for plant-based diners. You can tell a lot of care goes into the recipes, and it feels true to Czech cuisine rather than just "veganized" for the sake of it. The pricing is very reasonable, especially considering the generous portions and the quality of the food. I didn't feel like I was overpaying at all, which is always a huge plus in a popular city like Prague. One of the highlights for me was the coconut lemonade--it was so unique and refreshing, and not something you see on most menus. It balanced sweetness and flavor really well and paired nicely with the meal. I tried the lasagna, which was flavorful and well-made, though it was a bit heavy overall. That said, the zucchini in it was sliced incredibly well, adding a nice texture and showing real attention to detail in the preparation. It made the dish feel more refined even if it was filling. The staff were kind, friendly, and helpful, which made the experience even better.
