Chicken pho
Marissa D.

The pho is delicious and the chicken and beef are cooked perfectly. The egg rolls were also yummy. Very filling and delicious for a really great price.

My first pho review in Czech Republic, woot woot! This place is a hidden gem. A small family run restaurant attached to a mini mart. We spotted it walking by and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to review pho in CZ. We started off with some fresh rolls and fried Saigon rolls. The fresh rolls were somewhat loosely wrapped but still delicious. They did lose points because it had bell peppers in it which I do not like and came with fish sauce instead of peanut sauce. The Saigon fried rolls were amazing! I love it when they're made with vermicelli noodles instead of just being stuffed with a ton of cabbage. Let's get to the phonalysis: My friends ordered the pho bo and I ordered the special beef pho. I was expecting steak, brisket, and tripe... But instead mine had the steak grilled kind of like a Bo dish. Let me just tell ya, I've never had chargrilled beef pho but it is delish! Their broth was spot on too. I'm definitely coming back here before I leave Prague. Oh and a word of advice for Americans addicted to hoisen sauce like me, don't even ask for it. They don't use it or have it. Otherwise, don't let the mini-mart and the not-so-fancy entrance throw you off. This place is legit!

Pickled garlic

Good food, mellow ambiance, priced accordingly(in my travelers budget, about 115 for pho) Not they most authentic pho but hey, it's Prague! Try adding the pickled garlic to your food, it's a treat to your taste buds ;)

Chicken rice noodle soup

It totally settled down my Asian stomach after 10 days trip in Central Europe. Chicken noodle soup is tasty, spring roll is good, too! Price is even better.

Their pho bo
Lily T.

This place is small and their food is not authentic. To be fair, I believe it's because the Vietnamese ingredients and produce is not readily available in Praha. I tried their pho Bo and my rating will just be for taste of the noodles and broth. The pho Noodles were the fat chow fun kind of noodles from dried noodle bags. I'm sure this was the only thing available around here. Their broth tasted like water mixed with the flavorings from an instant noodle bag. Their pho had no pho smell or taste. They put 8 strands of bean sprouts in my bowl and although I was willing to to pay for extra, they wouldnt offer it. There is no such thing as hoison sauce over there. I normally do not eat this but the pho flavor was not good. They did have authentic Sriracha/ rooster hot sauce though! They did not have basil or culantro herbs either. They didn't have Nuoc mam (normal kind) or Nuoc mam Gung... Again... The broth was hard to take down. Their prices are cheap... Roughly $4 US dollars or about 90 cz/ crowns a bowl. Service was really slow, even though this tiny hole in the wall had only 3 other tables who already received their food. I attribute this for the way things are done here. Culturally, I don't believe they like to rush. Friendly family...but pho was hard to swallow down. It was OK for the location I guess? Family owned and they're Vietnamese. It looks like the mom cooks, the daughter is the food runner, the father is the server, and the son cashiers at the conjoining convenient shop next door. This place was messy and a little out of place.

Ah, not great food but not super terrible. Good enough for a cheap feed whilst being surrounded by potatoes and bread.

Classical Vietnamese bistro that has all the common Vietnamese dishes on their menu. It's actually really good for a reasonable price.

Four of us have had great Vietnamese meals in Paris, Berlin and California. Two of us travelled extensively in Vietnam, one worked in Vietnam. It was a Saturday night, nice crowd, tasteful restaurant. Food and service were overall disappointing. Tom Yum soup, which is actually Thai, had no chicken or vegetables. The Goi Coun (soft rolls or summer rolls), lacked any herbs or greens for which are key, just noodles and meat. Served with nuc mam, no peanut sauce or spice. Very bland. Then we waited an hour for the next courses and had to remind the waitress that others arrived after us, were served and finished. The final dishes came which were good or very good. Lemongrass grilled pork and cucumber salad - okay but better in Paris. Banana leaf duck, very good. Caramelized catfish (basa) very good but had better in California. Even though the restaurant was emptying out, we could not get refills on drinks. 3 of us are African American, one white. Seemed that the black folks were ignored. I had to think that's the reason for the poor service. After complaining, and we rarely complain, they did offer a 10% discount. It was so disappointing since this was something we were looking forward to. We've had great service in other Prague restaurants.

This place is a total sleeper. If you go here expecting to be met with what most people know to be…read morepho, you are going to have to expand your expectant palate a bit. In my eating experience, southern Vietnamese style pho is much more prevalent to western markets and, at least from the US perspective, is what most people are familiar with when they think of pho. I have read that in the north of Vietnam (such as in Hanoi), the style of pho is different. Not necessarily better or worse, just different. This place definitely uses a northern style recipe and I was not prepared for it to be as good as it was. It blew me away in several ways. First, the broth seems to have a lighter style to it than pho from the Ho Chi Minh City area in the south. Not in taste but in mouthfeel. Given that, it also doesn't leave you with that greasy tongue sensation either which was a plus. All of the beefy taste was there and there was even a hit of ginger coming through after the star anise which really made it interesting. I've actually never tasted broth like it (I have never had northern style pho before) and in some ways, I almost prefer this. Second, the herbs are chopped up and already added as a finish during assembly. They do not bring you a large plate of leaves, sprouts, etc. However, what they did bring more than made up for my initial disappointment. A small condiment dish of chopped hot chilis, a lemon wedge, and best of all, a container of sliced raw garlic swimming in vinegar. That condiment alone was an amazing hit to an already great bowl of noodles. I actually could not stop eating it and must have ingested at least half the container on my own. I feel kind of bad because I alone probably ate about 30 minutes worth of garlic slicing and now nobody wants to stand next to me in the elevator but that's ok, it makes me feel like a rock star that I get my own personal elevator car even if it is only because of a toxic cloud of garlic off-gassing out of my pores. Third, the service was great. This seems to be a little family run joint. A nice woman was manning the front of the house and her son was at one of the tables entertaining himself. I am sure that there is a hard working family member running the kitchen too and they managed to serve a fairly full dining room with courtesy, speed, and accuracy. I am sure that running this kind of small family business is never-ending, back-breaking work so to do it with a good attitude really shows the effort being put in on their part. There is nothing to dislike about that. Finally, it was affordable. Very affordable. I had 2 shrimp fresh summer rolls, a bowl of sliced rare beef pho, and a mug of beef all for 239 Czech Crowns ($10.18 USD). I also got to use the secure wifi they have available during my meal (ask and they will put the PW in for you). All of that is a bona fide steal in my opinion. For an ethnic eatery in the middle of Prague, this one really bangs out the good stuff.

So a quick Yelp search showed us that Mr. Banh Mi was a 5-minute walk from our hotel. We were a little iffy about how good Vietnamese food would taste in Prague, but we decided to give it a try anyway. We got there at around 9 and there was one table dining there. It's more like a hole in the wall than an actual restaurant. Most people were getting takeout or delivery. I got the Original (stewed pork Xa Xiu, homemade pate, pickled carrot and daikon, fresh cucumber, homemade mayonnaise, coriander). It was actually pretty good, and definitely better than what I was expecting. The pork was a little too salty but overall, it was exactly what I was looking for at the time. It's definitely not as good as the banh mis back at home in NYC but it was a good option for a quick meal.

We ordered veggie wraps, fried chicken, pho with chicken, chicken soup, and Pad Thai. The fried chicken had a strange texture, like it wasn't breaded properly. The pho had a weird flavor and was drenched excessively in purple onions. The chicken also had an unusual yellow color, which we later learned was because the chef seasons it with turmeric--something that looked quite bizarre. The chicken noodle soup contained egg, even though the menu didn't mention it. Honestly, it looked more like egg drop soup mixed with chicken. The Pad Thai was okay, nothing particularly special. The restaurant is very clean and has plenty of seating, making it a good spot to hang out with friends. The waitress was nice and attentive.
