This place really surprised my with the quality of their food. I'm from California so I'm spoiled with a lot of Asian food but I was traveling Europe for a while and haven't had decent Vietnamese food in a while. I didn't have high hopes when I came here but they blew me away. The place is quite modest but the food is really good. Real authentic homemade Vietnamese food that you can taste. I was really starving so I ordered a little bit of everything on the menu which wasn't too expensive especially in Prague. I got the stir fried noodles, pho, and a rice dish and they all were delicious. The staff were also very friendly and nice, and answered all the questions we had as tourists. Guess I was expecting more because read some reviews where someone was from California and really loved it. I'm from Cali and thought it was decent. It wasn't horrible, but not the best. It honestly tasted like just beef broth and throw in Viet ingredients (like noodles, some bean sprouts) and call it Pho. The beef broth wasn't the strong flavorful Vietnamese broth- like with like star anise, cinnamon, cooked down beef bone, etc. tasted like regular beef broth from a can. My first pho review in Czech Republic, woot woot! This place is a hidden gem. A small family run restaurant attached to a mini mart. We spotted it walking by and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to review pho in CZ. We started off with some fresh rolls and fried Saigon rolls. The fresh rolls were somewhat loosely wrapped but still delicious. They did lose points because it had bell peppers in it which I do not like and came with fish sauce instead of peanut sauce. The Saigon fried rolls were amazing! I love it when they're made with vermicelli noodles instead of just being stuffed with a ton of cabbage. Let's get to the phonalysis: My friends ordered the pho bo and I ordered the special beef pho. I was expecting steak, brisket, and tripe... But instead mine had the steak grilled kind of like a Bo dish. Let me just tell ya, I've never had chargrilled beef pho but it is delish! Their broth was spot on too. I'm definitely coming back here before I leave Prague. Oh and a word of advice for Americans addicted to hoisen sauce like me, don't even ask for it. They don't use it or have it. Otherwise, don't let the mini-mart and the not-so-fancy entrance throw you off. This place is legit! read more

There is practically only a single choice for beef pho. The broth lacks flavor, which is the most important part of Pho. The noodle is over cooked and not al dente. The beef are too lean for me. If you're the adventurous type, you'd find the lack of choice to be a negative. A more authentic Vietnamese menu of Pho would definitely be better in my humble opinion. We wantes to try this restaurant after seeing the good reviews and boy were we disappointed! The restaurant had 4 customers in the 1.5 hours that we were there. The interior was horrible and dirty. The tables and chairs were dirty and dusty. The prices are cheap yes, but the quality of the food is also cheap. I had beef with fried noodles. The beef was not fresh, but from the freezer. The noodles were okay, but there were hardly any vegetables in it. It tasted like a cheap Chinese takeaway restaurant that you would order from after a night of drinking. There are better Asian restaurants in Prague than this one. Pay a little more and get great food instead of this basic crap. read more

OK - so we have to put this review in perspective. As far as pho goes in Prague? Four stars. As far as pho goes compared to California? Two stars... at best. The noodles here aren't actually real "pho" noodles. The broth is decent, but lacks the rich umami flavor. The ingredients are fresh and the people working there are exceptionally nice. Cheap. Excellent Vietnamese noodle bowl (bun) here. My dining partner was quite impressed with the pho, as well. It's an interesting little spot, out of the way of the tourist path. The upstairs was cozy. The service was just a little slow, but the restaurant was busy. I was glad we made contact with the waitstaff before we went upstairs, because we watched another couple sit there for a long time without being helped because they came in and sat back in the upstairs corner without saying anything. Good food, great price. If you're living in Europe and visiting Prague, take the opportunity to get your pho here because you won't find it this tasty in many other cities. read more

My third vacation in Prague and my third time eating at Bistro Pho...this time with my wife and kids. This last time we went (3x) over 5 days Yes - this is the classic hole in the wall but a real treasure find! I've had pho around Europe and California and I will say it's one of best pho and rice plate place I've found. Try the pho with the fried beef - instead of the regular beef in soup. It has a wonderful taste! Also another favorite is the duck with rice. Loved it and my family who have had their share of Vietnamese restaurants agree. This place is small and their food is not authentic. To be fair, I believe it's because the Vietnamese ingredients and produce is not readily available in Praha. I tried their pho Bo and my rating will just be for taste of the noodles and broth. The pho Noodles were the fat chow fun kind of noodles from dried noodle bags. I'm sure this was the only thing available around here. Their broth tasted like water mixed with the flavorings from an instant noodle bag. Their pho had no pho smell or taste. They put 8 strands of bean sprouts in my bowl and although I was willing to to pay for extra, they wouldnt offer it. There is no such thing as hoison sauce over there. I normally do not eat this but the pho flavor was not good. They did have authentic Sriracha/ rooster hot sauce though! They did not have basil or culantro herbs either. They didn't have Nuoc mam (normal kind) or Nuoc mam Gung... Again... The broth was hard to take down. Their prices are cheap... Roughly $4 US dollars or about 90 cz/ crowns a bowl. Service was really slow, even though this tiny hole in the wall had only 3 other tables who already received their food. I attribute this for the way things are done here. Culturally, I don't believe they like to rush. Friendly family...but pho was hard to swallow down. It was OK for the location I guess? Family owned and they're Vietnamese. It looks like the mom cooks, the daughter is the food runner, the father is the server, and the son cashiers at the conjoining convenient shop next door. This tiny little place was a bit difficult to find since it's so small! I was living in Prague for a month last summer and when I had a craving for pho (and didn't want to venture all the way out to the Vietnam town), naturally, I looked to Yelp. I found this little whole in the wall and was not disappointed! This place is clearly a mom and pop shop, and they are all really friendly. After we finished our food, we were directed with great hostility to an ATM to make a cash withdraw with atm fees just to pay our food. After dining on very solid Czech food for several days, we felt the need for something lighter. Prague's Bistro Pho ably provided that change for us. Fresh spring rolls were stuffed with fresh, crispy veggies with numerous shrimp on top. My bowl of pho had numerous chunks of roasted beef mixed with the greens and noodles. As with most other phos, the flavor developed throughout the meal as the ingredients melded together. This is a super hole in the wall type of place with the yummiest pho! I've had many variations of pho in the states and this was wonderful. I got the chicken pho which had a great, flavorful broth.
