A-OK is a great way of summarizing this place for me. I've had worse and better pho in my life, and this place sits somewhere in the middle all things considered. I got a small bowl of the combo pho and split the appetizer rolls with my hubz. Pros: -yummy spring/summer rolls (the clear wrap with shrimp inside and served with peanut sauce, don't know the actual name of these) with solid sauce that is better with Sriracha (pro tip) -huge portion of noodles and meat for a "small" bowl! -one of your only pho options in Charlottesville -cute little restaurant with friendly service Cons: -something lacking in the broth - just doesn't fully hit that craving on a cold rainy day. This restaurant is kind of in a hidden location. Not much visibility off of 29 as it faces the AMF bowling alley. Upside is that there's ample parking. We ordered the sriracha wings which I thought was pretty good as well as the spring rolls. I opted to try their bun bo hue instead of their pho. The bun bo hue broth was served at room temperature with a light flavor, the meat had an odor to them and my noodles were still cold and hard. My friends got the pho and also found the flavor to be subtle. The pho broth and noodles were hot though. I also ordered the avocado smoothie which taste more like a milkshake, with a very subtle avocado flavor. I took my bun bo hue home and ate it the next day and the noodles were the right texture even after being soaked in the broth for a day. I have been to them all in Richmond and NoVa and wherever I travel. This isn't as good as the ones on Rigsby Rd in Richmond but it is the best in Charlottesville. I gave the restaurant a second chance. The pho is unfortunately some of the worst I have ever had. The broth is too cloudy, the garnishes are lacking (no green onions, white or cilantro), the meat is of poor quality. The prices here are outrageous for pho. The owners do not know what they are doing. Please go to either Vietopia in Harrisonburg or Pho So 1 in Richmond for authentic pho. It doesn't help that the service was unresponsive. I want Charlottesville to have a real pho restaurant. I want this restaurant to succeed and improve - I haven't necessarily written the restaurant off, but please make the drive out to Rigsby Rd Pho So 1 - take notes and understand what they are doing so well. My wife and I were excited to find a Pho joint so close to home. I expect we will be regulars. Having spent time in Vietnam, I'm a bit of a Pho connoisseur and Pho 3 Pho did not disappoint. Very simple menu which was actually a welcome and refreshing change for two reasons: 1) I am sick of having to make decisions and 2) a Pho restaurant shouldn't really serve much else :-). I don't drink but there is a full bar and excellent beer selection. Ok - just for humor points - I will point out that the music was bizarre. While dining I heard everything from HipHop to Metallica. Now don't get me wrong... I love Metallica. I'm just not sure how I feel about it with Pho. I'll stew on that for a while and get back to you. read more

Oh my gosh. This is so good. Order the small though. The large can feed like 3 people. I got the combination bowl and everything in it was dress and delicious and perfectly cooked. I love all the sauces they offer. My daughters chicken and rice dish was pretty awesome too but she seemed to prefer my noodles for the first time ever. Give this place a shot, I wasn't disappointed. While waiting for a vet appointment to wrap up I decided to treat myself to a Pho lunch to go. I was so happy with my meal!! I ordered the Pho Nam which is Noodle Soup w/ Brisket and on the side came cilantro, onions, beansprouts and spicy peppers, the two sauces I don't have names for but that Red spicy sauce was aahhhmazing! The broth was flavorful and the whole dish made me happy! I also ordered a Vietnamese Coffee. I HIGHLY recommend it. Strong slow drip coffee over condensed milk = heaven, over ice just made it better! The gentleman making my coffee kept apologizing for the wait but I really didn't mind I mean first of all "slow drip" its not an espresso shot from Starbucks lol well worth the wait and secondly the atmosphere is lovely. If I could indicate zero stars I would have. We've lived in Charlottesville for 17 years and this may be the worst food we've had since we moved here. We ordered Pho, and the meat tasted so peculiar I couldn't bring myself to actually swallow it. We ordered for delivery, so all I could do was throw it away. The spring rolls were unidentifiable. There was a slice of meat that was inedible because of the disgusting flavor, and I think the rest of the roll was lettuce and congealed noodles. My husband and I threw those away. He ate the pho because we didn't have anything else in the house. He had heartburn a few minutes after he finished I found some very old frozen sweet potato fries and ate them. We're out $50. You have been warned! BTW, there are other pho places in Charlottesville that are good. Thai Cuisine is one of them. Unfortunately we live in the sticks and can't get delivery from them. read more

But the server brought us two medium size. they changed one to a large size, but they seem to have changed the size of the bowl. I was excited to hear about this place, but it was a bit disappointing. I like that they are trying to bring pho to cville, but it didn't feel authentic. The waiter forgot our utensils and we had to remind him of a couple things, but he was quick to respond. The spring rolls were tasty. I got #3, pho with brisket. The noodles and sprouts were good, but I think the broth was lacking in quality. I'm not an expert in how pho is made, but this broth was just missing something. The brisket was fine, if a little fatty. My friend also wished that they had tripe, which is her favorite. This is the only place to get good pho in Charlottesville, so if you like pho (who doesn't?) please support this little restaurant in a charm-free strip mall on 29 North. There is better pho in NoVa and Richmond, but Pho3 Pho is way above the bar for a place I'll return to: excellent broth, full of flavor and not at all greasy, good quality beef ingredients (though none of the more unusual cuts like tripe and tendon that you'd get at a more authentic pho joint), good toppings. The restaurant is immaculately clean, the service was friendly and competent, and the prices are low ($10 for a bowl big enough for a hungry person's dinner). The eight TVs behind the large bar and the somewhat loud music are not to my taste, but the pho is, which is all that matters. read more
