Went inside, to try the place out. I guy in front of us...did not waited to be seated and sit by himself on a table for 4. Waitress noticed him and spoke to him and then he was allowed to sit there and was given the menu or something. Then me and my wife patiently waited for our turn. To our surprise, this same server decided to have us seated and share table to random loud people, sharing with a big round table. My wife asked her politely if we can seat at the other vacant tables which she denied. We saw vacant table for 6 and vacant table for 4 and yet the server wanted us to seat with other people we don't even know. This has been my Pho Ga spot after the Turtle Towers closed. Their version is as just good, notably the order with gizzards and livers. A large bowl should fill you up. I would go out of the way to have it here. The Deep Fried Wings were decent and should go well with rice. The Bun Rieu was decent though broth was on the sweet side. Bun Bo Hue I'm not sure would get it again. The Spring Rolls are also big but is full of lettuce and rice noodle as fillers. As a result, it's bland and the dipping sauce was just okay - could not saved it. Plenty of metered and residential street parking in this busy area as there are many eateries around. read more

5 spice chicken: Decent piece of chicken but is it really 5 spice. I swear they're just buying the seasoning for my past 2 dishes from hoi wah. Pho #1's garlic noodles $14 are only OK. The last time I was here, the waitress said their version of garlic noodles are better than the ones at PPQ. It is not. Pho #1's version is greasy without a good garlic burn and came with sliced onions. PPQ's version has grated parsley with a hint of butter plus a thing of lettuce and pickled sliced carrots on the side giving it a contrast between the carbs and the meat. The beef at Pho #1 had good wok flavor. Other than that, this is just chow mein without the characteristics of Vietnamese garlic noodles. I hope they survive because I was the only customer dining indoors on a Monday at dinner time, 6pm. You kind of start worrying about a restaurant when the employees outnumber the guests. This review is solely based on their bun rieu. I'm such a fanatic for this dish that I honestly have no interest trying anything else on their menu LOL. Since the pandemic, I've been satisfying my almost weekly cravings of bun rieu from this restaurant. This one surprisingly does not serve it with any pork cake, sadly :( (and porks blood) like most other places do BUT that's okay. The taste and authenticity makes up for it. I usually order a small/regular portion and it usually comes with enough noodle and soup to feed TWO people. Sometimes if I'm feeling fat and mighty, I end up eating the whole order to myself which ends up into a major food coma...definitely do not recommend doing that if you want to have a productive day hahahaha. No need for a large unless you are super hungry, but for some perspective, a small fed my 6'3" guy friend fine. The chicken pho was really delicious! The broth tasted clean, and the chicken was nicely shredded. The flat rice noodles tasted fresh, with a great chewy consistency. Perfect for a chilly day, recovering from a cold, or satisfying a need for some comfort food. I also ordered the 3 Color Drink. I think the ratio of toppings to drink was a little off for my liking. I ended up tossing half the drink because it was just the toppings in the end with no liquid. Is this place run down and slightly dirty looking? Possibly. For the neighborhood its in, its already pretty fancy. Inside is pretty spacious, so if you're like 300-400 lbs (not judging-just informing) you can fit in with no issue. Seems like they did try to update the place last year or so. Its not the best I had, but sometimes I like to change it up. The price did also go up by like 25% last year. 3rd go to item is their "chicken glass noodle" dish but they did change the glass noodle brand or different package they purchase (it just wasn't as good anymore) so now I just stay with my 1st & 2nd choice. Been coming for years. I used to live close by and this was my morning savior pho joint. It's more of the wide rice noodle (haw fun) type of pho. My wife and I love this place for their #8 chicken vermicelli. The soup is bomb. We live an hour away now but whenever we visit the bay area, we make an effort to stop by for some pho because we love this place so much. Aw this place should have higher reviews! I was ordering via Ubereats and I used yelp to make sure "spicy beef and pork" soup was bun bo hue- which it is! And then I also saw all the bad reviews it got. I also believe the yelp critics here had no idea what they got themselves into. Bun bo hue isn't pho and If you knew that, I'm proud of ya. I give them kudos for trying but I do partially blame the restaurant for not selling/ educating what Bun Bo Hue really is! It's a waaaay different, complex soup with a lemon grass, rich pork flavor with tendons (not fat) and sometimes coagulated pork blood. It's more of an acquired taste and not as forgiving to cook like pho - meaning people only like their mamas bun bo hue and will critique everyone else. I thought Pho 1's bun bo hue (again, spicy beef pork soup) was pretty solid, lacked lemon grass but it's better than a lot of places! As a Vietnamese restaurant, we can do better and educate our culture to the community! Not saying everyone will love it, but they should know pho is a soup, and not all soups is pho. I am updating my review because I have fallen in love with their Pho Ga (Chicken Pho) with fresh, broad, flat rice noodles. It is an unassuming bowl of chicken broth, strips of chicken breast, and little else. But it is just the thing to quaff when your feeling just a bit off. I am a firm believer of knowing what's good at each place, and while I have not discovered anything else I am a fan of here, the Pho Ga is what I crave and I will continue to return.
