Menu. Tacos are 3 for $12. Drinks $10 each

The food is like Portland'a food trucks, but hidden in the snow and trees. The price is decent compared to the lodge but expensive no less for a "food truck". The kitchen area is small so they only offer 5 options of tacos and 4 kinds of hot sauce to choose from. The tacos are 3 for $12/ $4 each and worth every penny, they are larger than street tacos and filling. The mixed drinks are $10 each and the huckleberry is sweet but delicious. The canned beer options change based on supply and demand but are brewd by Mt Hood brewing. They offer two towns cider by the can for $7, wine for $7.50, and cold or hot drinks for $3.50. Everything is premade at the main lodge and brought up each day. Last call is 3pm. There is a fire pit out front and the signs are off of pucci but have to keep an eye out for it. There is a warm fire inside but minimal seating more of a standing bar to keep people moving. The cabin is a refinished boys scout cabin from 1930. It's well refinished but it's also still new and a best kept secret. There are convenient hooks next to seating for gear and at the entrance for coats should you choose to stay longer. The music is legit and can be heard outside and in but doesn't give away the location.

This mid-mountian taco hut is warm and cozy. The perfect place to get out of the wind and enjoy a beer and some delicious gourmet tacos. David the barkeep is super friendly. I'll definitely be making this a must stop at place during every trip to Timberline.

Ask the Community - Phlox Point Cabin

Do they have tamales or pozole, or just tacos?

Just tacos. It's a tiny little ski-in-ski-out cabin.

My fiance planned a wonderful mountain getaway for us, and lucky for me- we had dinner reservations here. It was so chilly in December, We had a cold mountain day, and we bundled up to go to our dinner reservations and I have to say- I wasn't expecting much when I heard the name "Grill". I was thinking- burgers, fries, your typical post-ski grub. I was wrooong! We strolled into the coziest little restaurant and were greeted by the two lovely people working there. Felt like I very sweet family vibe. They steered us in the directions of the pasta dishes we ordered, and we had the Soup of the Day to start- I believe it was some kind of Tomato bisque and that hit the spot. The Hazelnut pasta was a hit for my fiance, and I loved that he got to try such a classic Oregon flavor in a pasta- how fun. My chanterelle ravioli filled me up so fast, I also loved being able to try chanterelles in this format. Both dishes felt very creative and full of so much Oregon pride! Delicious!

Prices are pretty high but we've found that the quality is consistently good, though this year felt a bit less. I enjoyed a patty melt with sweet potato fries. Kids grilled cheeses also were enjoyed. Hamburger was good, though I liked the patty melt more. The alfredo and cod were just average. For desert, I got the chocolate torte, which was a big letdown (especially since it cost $15!). I may decide to try a new place next year.

Crooked Tree Tavern & Grill - "Mountain Veggie Wrap" - all I tasted were the "ancient grains," the mostly mayo aioli, and the mixed greens.

The coffee was also so light, it seemed as if they had no idea how to make good coffee. My son ordered their "French Dip," which looked like overcooked and burnt roast beef on a "sub" roll that he dipped into a small bowl of au jus to make it edible. At least his french fries were decent. This to me is more of a bar than a restaurant. Its most obvious strong point was atmosphere. We ate outside on a beautiful sunny seventies day. A stained glass window was behind us with hanging potted flowers on both sides. There were trees and grass. Our two servers were nice and attentive. We were tourists on our way to Mount Hood and our GPS misled us here.

Ordered a fried chicken sandwich with a 2.00 upgrade for onion rings. What I received was undercooked onion rings with NO seasoning at ALL (not even salt). On the flip side the fried chicken sandwich was overcooked, hard to eat, and NO seasoning whatsoever! (again, not even salt). My spouse got the French dip with fries. Guess where all the salt from my meal wound up? yep... her Au Jus was super salty!!! The beef was so chewy we wound up spitting it out (embarrassing, but discreetly). We could not eat any of it, so we left, 60.00 poorer and unhappy. Hope it was an off day, because the location was lovely.

Really solid experience all around…read more The baked dish was rich and well done--great depth of flavor in the sauce, and the melted top layer added a nice texture without feeling heavy. Comfort food, but clearly made with care. The shrimp dish stood out too. The shrimp were tender and fresh, with a clean flavor that paired well with the tomatoes and light seasoning. Simple, balanced, and executed well. The wine pairing complemented everything nicely without overpowering the food, which I appreciated. What made the biggest impression, though, was the service--especially from the owners. They were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely engaged without being over the top. You can tell they take pride in what they're doing, and it shows in how they treat their guests. Overall, a place I'd definitely come back to and recommend to others looking for a quality meal in West Linn.

Located right on 2nd Street in The Dalles, it's a great place to stop if you're wandering the various tasting rooms and bare pubs in the area. Since it was my first time here, I did the flight. The first wine, the Locomotive, had me with the very light taste with hints of honey and papaya. Not one to typically drink whites, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. On a warm or even hot day, this would be perfect. As I made my way through the tasting, I found that I was enjoying several of their wines. The High Tension, their club favorite, was a full bodied blend of Syrah, Merlot and Barbera. A perfect everyday drinking wine And good for parties where you need a wine that pleases many palettes. The other standout for me was the Barbera. Very smooth, full body and slightly jammy. Since I'm in a Barbera club at Cascade Cliffs, I left with the Locomotive. I'm looking forward to a warm spring day to sit in my deck and enjoy with friends. The tasting room inside is small and simple. A picnic tables and seats out in the paved area out front, nice on a sunny day. I'll definitely be back.
