Philz has long been one of my favorite coffee shop chains, and I am glad to say that this location is solid. Staff here are always friendly and social, which I appreciate and drinks are well made. My go to drink is the iced honey haze, and I love how sweet and creamy the drink comes out. One think I appreciate about Philz is their attention to making sure the drink is correct, I love that they also ask how it tastes and offer to make any modifications when handing out a drink, while it's almost always how I like it, it's nice to have the affirmative invitation to adjust the drink if needed. I came to buy a giftcard from here and thought I'd try a drink out for myself since my friend swears by it. FOOD AND DRINK 4/5 I ordered a small Iced Coffee Rose with Oatmilk and medium honey. I also got the bacon and cheese egg bites. The coffee Rose was 5/5. The description on the menu described it as a walk through a garden and when I took my first sip that's exactly what it felt like. It was a perfectly balanced combination that resulted in my eyes closing to savor the moment as I took my first sip. It had the subtlest taste of coffee which is exactly how I like it. The bacon and cheese egg bites were okay, I think I'm just spoiled by how Starbucks egg bites taste so I'd give these a 3/5. SERVICE 5/5 The service was AMAZING. I came in not having a clue what I'd like, and Bella was very helpful, patient, and gave great recommendations. I told her what kind of drinks I typically get and she pointed me in the right direction. She was also SUPER friendly and all of the staff working were welcoming and were my kind of people. When I picked up my drink from Jared he told me to try it and let him know if he needed to make any adjustments and that he'd gladly do it. The drink was perfect so none were needed. This guy must have had a passion for drinks because I could taste his knowledge for drink mastery 5/5. AMBIANCE It was a cool hipster place. When I came around 9AM there were just a few people there enjoying the space. There was background music playing, plenty of places to sit, and no line. Tons of outdoor and indoor seating for whatever suits your fancy. Staff is friendly here and drinks come out quickly. I love that I can go to any Philz location and always know I'll get an excellent cup of coffee. Philz on Sunset did not disappoint delivering the rich, creamy caffeine I'm accustomed to. I actually tried a new seasonal drink on menu, the Spiced Gratitude Cold Brew. Being appreciative is a focus of my life, so the name alone called out to me. The coffee blend was delish though with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Legit subtle flavors though that only enhanced the coffee. Loved it! While out and about with the fam running errands I needed a good cup of joe to get my day started. We stumbled across this place. Very nice trendy coffee shop, right in the heart of Hollywood. The staff was very sweet, everyone greeting you with smiles and cheerful personality. This was our first time here so I asked the barista what she would recommend. I ended up ordering the Philtered Soul which is a hazelnut flavor and chocolate, very tasty and strong! They also have a nice selection of breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Did some work here. I was running late to a meeting and lowkey sat for like an hour before buying something and they didn't kick me out which was nice. It got pretty busy around 11:30. And I see why, it's very yummy smooth coffee. I got the oat meal cookie one. And it was ready in like 30 seconds. The guy who took my order was a bit exasperated, but observing him all morning he just seemed a bit disheveled and downcast overall, so I didn't take it personally. The bathrooms are alright. The sink is on the outside of the bathrooms which was fine as I always wash my hands lol but I just felt a bit perceived in what is usually a private moment. read more

I normally only enjoy lattes but have heard that philz coffee is super good. I decided to give it a try and I'm so glad I did! I did not stick around but there is a ton of seating and there were a lot of people hanging out and studying/working. The baristas were incredibly friendly, explained how to order with them as it is not as simple as most coffee shops. I got the mocha coffee and it was delicious! I normally don't write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my negative experiences from my last two visits. During my first visit, I ordered a large mint mojito with no mint topping. The employee made it as a small, so I politely let her know I had ordered a large. She gave me a dirty look, said nothing, and took the drink back. When she remade it as a large, she added mint topping despite my request for no mint. I chose not to say anything further, but she then loudly said "you're welcome" in a rude and unprofessional tone. That experience made me hesitant to return. A few months later, I decided to give it another chance. Unfortunately, today's experience was just as disappointing. The woman working the front counter did not acknowledge my "good morning" and appeared visibly unhappy to be there. I ordered a large mint mojito with no mint leaves, explaining that the mint gets stuck in my mouth when drinking it. She rudely responded, "So you want an iced coffee?" I clarified my order, and after entering it into the computer, she walked away while I was still in the process of paying. The guy who made my drink was nice but because the girl who took my order didn't ask if I wanted it sweet & creamy... it is not the enjoyable, tasty, mint mojito I usually have from Philz. It's disappointing. Both experiences were unprofessional and left me feeling unwelcome as a customer and I will not be returning back to this location. read more

Just moved around the corner and I love Philz. I came in for my usual a mint mojito and a burrito. I asked for hot sauce and the lady (she has braids) said they're in the bag, so I looked and said no there isn't any. And she grabs my bag to look inside like I'm lying about hot sauce and grabs them then says you need to ask for these before ordering. I said you can't just give me hot sauce? She said we have to keep track of every single one..... WHAT?! Since when does Philz have a hot sauce patrol and since when did workers become rude?! I walk in the guy at the register Donavan completely ignoring the line behind the person in front of me. While he banter his coworker about not liking woman and goes on the one sided conversation until he sees me. When I ordered, he kept pushing me to order something else until I said. "I like what I like" Took about 10 minutes for the order to finish, while waiting the few individuals who ordered behind me got their order first. This is a big revelation to for me to make, but Philz delivered a great experience. Pick your coffee and It's ground and made at the same time, boom!! That's crazy. It was very good, you just can't beat fresh ground coffee, yes! It matters that much. The taste just becomes more rich, subtle notes become more subtle. Just an altogether better way to drink coffee. It's hard for me to say that, life long Starbucks fan here. When I go to Starbucks I always hope they are out of dark roast, just so I can get a pour over. Now let's talk food. Scrumps!! it was really great. Just fresh tasting and full of flavor, biggest difference it didn't look like a sad sandwich thrown into a bag. Cheese and jalapeño bagel double great. None of my Philz reviews are objective. As a longtime San Franciscan, I have been going to Philz since before it took over the world :-) I am in SoCal for a short-term gig, so I have been visiting the Philz stores in the area. While many of the newer locations may be fancier than the original, the coffee and staff never disappoint. Over the years, depending on where I have lived, I have made it a point to get to know the baristas as they are always interested and lovely humans. If you have ever watched a training, they are wicked smart and always send a positive vibe out into the world. Kudos to the staff at all the Philz! The Hollywood store does not disappoint; excellent staff interaction, an inviting store vibe, and consistent drink prep (Hack: "cinnamon in the Philter"). While this store is not super-close to where I am staying, I'll prob be back whenever I'm in the area. read more

Came here for the first time to this Philz location around 1:45 pm last Sunday on Halloween day! 5/5 iced mint mojito 5/5 customer service Ordering experience When I arrived, was only 1 person ordering in front of me, and about 6 customers to the right waiting for their drinks. A total of 3 staff members were working that day (1 at the front taking orders, and 2 baristas making drinks). My interaction with the staff member who took my order and the barista who made my drink were wonderfully pleasant! I was honestly surprised by how genuine and friendly they seemed. I could tell it was really busy on Halloween day with all the in person/mobile orders coming in, yet despite how busy they were, they still seemed cheerful and happy. I really appreciated that! The drink I always order a medium iced mint mojito with almond milk - sweet and creamy is how I like it. The barista who made my drink did a wonderful job--very consistent with other locations! When he called my name to pick up my drink, he even asked me to try it to see if any adjustments needed to be made. While I declined the offer, I appreciated how he asked (Philz used to do this all the time, but I understand some locations have stopped due to the pandemic!). Overall - would definitely come again! Not sure about how parking works though, and I have to confess that it was quite scary walking along sunset blvd to get there as there are sadly lots of homeless people live along the streets. I just wish there were more Philz locations between Hollywood and Santa Monica... anyway I recommend giving this place a try! I hope the next time I come here again the interactions and drink is just as pleasant! read more

The customer service is always on point being patient, knowledgeable and kind. And as for the coffee, their iced rose latte is light, creamy, floral and decadent. I ask for it extra creamy and honey instead of sugar. The iced gingersnap is another favorite which it's creamy , strong and you can taste the spices as well. Always a home run here. read more

Sweetened just right by the baristas if you require, the service is as refreshing as a touch of mint in your pick-me-up. They have an excellent selection for different moods and tastes.
