Philz is always such a great treat; I don't have any near me so I like to pop in whenever I find one while traveling. This Aliso Viejo location was great - I missed getting the name of the cashier but she was friendly, chatted with us about the neighborhood, and also gave me tips on how to best use my rewards account. My very first encounter discovering Philz Coffee was when I was visiting my besties in SF and boyyy did they have me hooked at my first sip. I'm a bit of a self-proclaimed coffee addict, so when I heard all the hype and reviews about this coffee shoppe, I HAD to give it a try. My ultimate fav, go-to drink is the deelish iced mint mojito. OMFG..it's sooo good. The fresh mint and coffee combo just hits you like no other. It's perfectly sweet and creamy, no adjustments are ever needed. It's smooth like a criminal. On days when I need a breakfast on-the-go, I grab a butter croissant, ham & cheese croissant or a banana bread also. All satisfying options, in my opinion. You can never go wrong with their warmed up pastries. Fresh and yums! I was particularly super excited when this Philz Coffee opened up in SoCal ~ because it meant that I didn't have to wait to visit SF to get another taste or drive all the way to South Coast Plaza (their other OC location). Now I could indulge in a cup when I eat next door at Marugame and/or visit my mom (who lives in the area). The best of both worlds. This store is located in the up & coming new Commons at Aliso Viejo plaza ~ next to the likes of Marugame, OMOMO and 99 Ranch. Parking is plentiful, so need not worry friends. The store is spacious, open and inviting. There is cute, happy vibes decor on the wall. There are plenty of tables to chill or study ~ inside and/or on the small patio. The staff were super friendly & efficient. And the prices are comparable to Starbucks and other usual coffee joints..so I don't mind paying for quality brew. Philz is known for their good coffee and good coffee takes time! However, on a Sunday morning, doing mobile order, there was no wait!! I walked in right as the barista was pouring my coffees. The parking lot is huge, with some several 20 minute spots, EV charging stations and carpool stops. Most of the businesses in the shopping center are new and just opening, so parking was a breeze! The ambiance of the Aliso Viejo Philz is bright, warm and friendly! The baristas working had a fun banter and engaged with customers well! The bathrooms were clean and easy to access with the code. Seating was comfortable and there was a variety of seating options inside: coaches, tables, and different types of chairs. Outside seating had umbrellas. This bright spot in the beige landscape of the Commons is a beacon of light serving delicious coffee, one cup at a time! My favorites are the mint mojito and honey haze. I recently tried a sip of the iced coffee rose which wasn't for me, but my husband liked it. He even asked for more rose flavor. I was surprised that there wasn't a large crowd waiting inside during the morning rush. They were quick, friendly, and gave suggestions with new Fall drinks. Newly opened in the Commons plaza. Surprisingly enough, you were able to already mobile order on the app for food and drinks! As to be expected on opening day, they were a little behind (won't fault them for that). What we got: - Honey Haze (2/5): I've had this drink before at other locations, which is why I'm giving it at the lower end of a rating. So, I "know" what it is supposed to taste like. When I tasted it, it tasted a bit burnt/bitter and lacking of any sweetener for something called honey. - Iced Coffee Rose (5/5): This drink didn't taste burnt AND had sweetener. I love rose coffee and will be ordering this from now on. - Crookie (2/5): Yeah uh... to me, this pastry tasted kind of stale? The croissant part was not flaky and the cookie part tasted odd. I don't think this would have even tasted better if it were toasted. The store itself is spacious and plenty of seating. Went to Philz this morning Everyone working was super nice, friendly and helpful! There were lots of samples being passed out (mint mojito/ crookie- croissant & cookie) and all were delicious! I ordered the Honey Haze, I didn't see it was iced, I expected it to be hot (the ice cubes are huge so I feel like I paid for less coffee in a large.) Next time I'll be asking for no ice lol the drink was absolutely delicious regardless. I also got the turkey sausage breakfast sandwich, which was okay! Came in around 545pm on 4/25. I pre-ordered a bottle and larger iced. Waited for about 15 min for the bottle only for the lighter haired employee to tell me they didn't have a bottle and to come back and just "tell the manager you bought it". I asked for a refund but she said she didn't know the code to do it. I asked for a gift card and she said she didn't know the code. I came here with my mother and wife. We ordered a Mint Mojito Iced Coffee and a Iced Coffee Rose. Both were indulgent, on the sweet side, but a nice way to deal with summer. The Mint Mojito delivered on the mint flavor and the Iced Coffee Rose on the rose flavor. The gentleman who served us at the counter was very friendly and we helped ourselves to samples of cold brew coffee and poppy seed cake --- both delicious. The ambiance of the cafe was very chilled with comfortable chairs and tables to sit at and a light, airy decor with a long panel illustrated with squirrels munching on acorns. I curiously came in here during my lunch break to see if the people frequently coming and going from this place was legitimate ....sure enough it totally is!!! Been waiting for this location to open for months so I am so happy they are finally up and running! Welcome to the neighborhood Philz! Service was great for it being their first week open and it wasn't particularly busy when I went Saturday morning. Plenty of parking at the Commons right now but I anticipate that changing when the other major shops begin to open. Overall I've been a Philz fanatic for over a decade so no notes on the menu. Excellent coffee and pastry selection though this time I opted for a breakfast burrito. Nothing crazy just a standard reheated convenience type of food they have at most coffee shops. I have been to Philz almost every location in LA. I would say this near Laguna beach location definitely is the best of the best. !

So I hate writing bad reviews but comparing this location to others I shall warn you Philz lovers this location is nothing like the others...on almost every occasion I have ordered my drink something has gone wrong, they forget the food item...the get the drink wrong but the worst thing is the fact that they just don't make the drinks right. The coffee is always too strong (believe me I love strong coffee) but this is to the point where you just can't drink it. I always order "creamy almond milk" and every single time the coffee is still black, the barista literally puts a splash in. Normally this wouldn't cause me to write a bad review but last week I ordered a "creamy" "sweet" drink and it and I couldn't even drink it. The coffee was brewed overbearingly strong and she didn't put any milk you could see in the color. I ran back in since they always say "let us know if you need adjustments ". I walked in quickly and the barista yelled at me; "WE'RE CLOSED" and I replied "I'm so sorry but can you fix this..." before I could even finish speaking she yelled back "WE ARE BEYOND CLOSED YOU HAVE TO LEAVE" I honestly felt so bad, the way she yelled at me I will never go back into that location, it was beyond rude to the point where I wanted to cry. So if you're in the mood for Philz and if you're up to the drive, go to the Mission Viejo location by target, they are unbelievably nice and they get the drinks right every single time. read more

The workers here are so friendly. I'm very particular about my drinks, but they always help me modify it the way I like. I always get shy asking for my drink to be altered/remade, but they are so sweet and don't make you feel like an inconvenience. My husband and I stopped in this morning knowing that Philz had just opened up in Aliso Viejo. We ordered the Mocha Tesora (hot), the iced Honey Haze (less sweet with cream instead of oat milk), breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage, and a chocolate croissant (warmed). Our cashier was great and she was patient with our order. We had to ask for the code to the restroom in order to wash our hands. The sandwich was ready before our drinks were and the chocolate croissant was the last item to be retrieved from the counter. The breakfast sandwich was okay but not worth another try. The chocolate croissant, while warmed wasn't warm all the way through. We had some cold spots. My husband enjoyed his mocha drink while I really enjoyed my honey haze. Stopped in to try their breakfast food. I couldn't decide between the egss sausage muffin or the breakfast burriito so I asked whay was recommended. The last said the breakfast burrito was her favorite. So i got the bacon egg cheese. Paid for it, sat on a bench right in front of the to go counter. I waited and waited wondering what is taking so long to make a breakfast burrito. All these people's orders came out and left I got up walked around the side did not see anyone preparing my burrito. Or nor did I hear them call my name once. I then see a small bag and thought that couldn't possiblyA burrito in that tiny bag but I looked at the label and sure enough it was mine order. Annoyed by the wait time i go to my car to wat it before running off to run my errands I don't want to slam this place because they just opened. However, this had to be the worst burrito I ever had. It was the size of like 2 OR 3 fingers. It seemed Pre processed like they cooked it in the microwave with the paper because the tortilla stuck to the wrapping. When I bit into it it was basically all mushy potato with bacon I barely saw any egg and cheese. All tortilla .. I love this Philz, they are always so welcoming and kind here. They remember my dog whenever I come in and offer him an abundance of treats! Last time I was here, I ordered a bagel and it was taking a little longer than usual (really not that long) and they apologized for the wait and included a free pastry! Really kind people here and super yummy drinks. My fave is the honey haze and love in the Fall when they have the spiced vanilla soul - wish they had it into november / december!
