We came in last Saturday night for dinner and I was so bummed that we had an unpleasant visit for our first time dining there! The positives: The appetizers we got with the fried bow tie noodles and crab dip along with the cheesy bread were really good and it was plenty of food for a group of 5. The negatives: Overall the restaurant was very loud and bright and our server seemed to be disgruntled and not very happy to be at work. I ordered the Catfish meal which was lacking in flavor and the mac n cheese was very watery. My family said their meals were also lacking in flavor and my nieces entree came out wrong. To top it off they seated us right near the kitchen and server station by the bathrooms and began mopping with a heavily concentrated cleaner in the kitchen that stopped all of us from eating and a couple of us leaving with a headache. Unfortunately we will not be back after this experience : (

I'd been wanting to try Phil's for a while. When I pulled up, the parking lot was full. I walked in and was immediately seated. Had 1/2lb or royal reds for an appetizer the snapper deveraux which is in some sort of sauce with shrimp. Man, that was good. My waitress was awesome and the prices were reasonable. Definitely recommend

Oh my god this place was so freaking good and our server was fantastic!!!! My husband got the 24 shrimp special and I got the kids jumbo shrimp so we could share and they were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. Especially with their gorgeous view our back

Although the scenery is breathtaking, the actual dining experience at Phil's Marina Cafe leaves much to be desired. We had to wait over 30 minutes for a table and another 20 minutes just to be served food. This place seems to be really popular among the locals but I was so unimpressed with the taste and portion sizes of the meals. I ordered the fried snapper as my entree but the sides were bigger than the main dish. Thankfully, one of those sides was the mac-and-cheese--a creamy and delicious bowl of goodness topped with that extra layer of golden brown cheese. The gouda grits was a close second with its buttery and simple execution of a classic Southern staple. But the actual fish itself was dry and unseasoned, and had to be aided by the accompanying tartar sauce. Not bad but not too good either and for the price point, I could probably just fry up my own fish at home!

My husband and I have eaten here several times and the food has always been delicious. However I was a little disappointed tonight with the baked macaroni. It was very bland. The Snapper Pontchartrain was decent. It could have been less salty. My husband's food was great! He always gets the home made onion rings and fried shrimp special. Delicious! We had peanut butter pie for dessert. It was great!

I've had food from this place a few times now on my visits to Louisiana and this place is very consistent. The food always comes out timely and of great quality. The servers are very nice too. I heavily recommend the crawfish bread; Super Good! The crawfish pasta was also good. There's also a nice view of the water and boats while you eat. I'm probably always gonna go to this place on my visits.

This is a fun restaurant. Great location, food, and service. We got some oysters and shrimp while we waited. Food is really good. I got the Snapper Pontchartrain with Gouda Grits. It was outstanding. My meal was really filling. I recommend this restaurant and would eat here again.

We stopped at Phil's Marina Café for lunch on our way home from a night in New Orleans, and let me tell you--it was the perfect sendoff. I had the fried crawfish tails, and they were golden, crispy little bites of Louisiana heaven. Perfectly seasoned and fried just right--no grease puddles, just flavor and crunch. Malinda had the fried catfish strips with sweet potato fries, and she didn't say much once the food hit the table--which is how you know it was real good. That fish was flaky and tender inside with a cornmeal crust that could win awards, and those sweet potato fries were everything--crispy edges, soft centers, and just the right kiss of salt. We split a simple side salad with ranch (because you need something green when you're deep in fried seafood joy), and even that was fresh and cold, the kind of salad that doesn't feel like an afterthought. The ranch was so yummy. Phil's is casual, friendly, and full of folks who know how to feed you right. It's the kind of place where you feel like you've been before--even if it's your first time. Our server was amazing!

This is an interesting one....we picked this place based on stars and, late afternoon pre-dinner, it was a really fun, laid back, bay view restaurant. I believe that the fun vibe & cool view of the storm rolling in made me enjoy this place more than I ever would have, seeing past the dirty windows with greasy kid prints all over it (cleanliness is usually one of my tops!) and just "okay" food! The tuna (w/butter) was good, the 2 baked mushroom appetizer was okay but the 1.5 pounds royal reds, although edible, were very overcooked and needed lots of lemon/cocktail sauce to get down. I grew up with Gulf Coast seafood and it just wasn't all that great. What was great besides the vibe and the view was the Banana Bread Pudding w/Rum sauce - yum! Even our margarita was just okay. Our waitress was super chill & nice but we did not get one refill on our ice tea?!?! I didn't hate it but I didn't love it.

We were looking to try another seafood restaurant on our way to the New Orleans airport so this was our first time at this place. We arrive at 11 when they open. There was already a line at the door. We tried a couple dozen raw oysters, crab claws, and crab cake. It was all delicious! I keep getting shells in my oysters but my husband did not so we will be back. It was probably a fluke. Our server was great! Great place to stop for seafood. Enjoy!

This is a really great place to dine! The panoramic views are gorgeous. They have lots of seating and can accommodate groups large or small. The menu offers a wide variety of delicious options. I chose the blackened red snapper with the house salad and the steamed veggies. The meal was excellent. The portion was perfect and the price was appropriate. The employees are all friendly and upbeat. They provided excellent service for our visit. We will definitely be back!

Neutral Ground is still holding it down in Slidell. The food hasn't changed thank goodness because…read morethe seafood bread is amazing, and the yakamein stays delicious, just like you expect from a spot with real NOLA roots. There's been a shift in staff, and while they're still friendly, they could use a little more training and attention to detail. Nothing wild, just tightening up. Overall, the kitchen is still doing what it's supposed to do, and the flavors are still very much home.

What a cute spot! We stopped in on a cold Saturday afternoon and they were busy! We scanned the…read moredining area looking at what people were ordering and it all looked so delicious. We started out with an order of seafood croquettes. They were good, but not our favorite. We also had an order of brussels sprouts and they were perfect. My husband ordered their shepherds pie. It was a massive portion. The whipped potatoes on top had just enough flavor to complement the beef and veggies. My daughter ordered the seafood, stuffed potato, and boy was it stuffed! Rich creamy sauce with lots of shrimp and crawfish. The yakamein was calling my name! It was perfect for a cold windy day. I had a little bit of a kick and just enough noodles and seafood to make me happy. The portions are very generous, so be prepared to ask for a to go box. This place is definitely worth checking out.
