Fried green tomatoes
Joanna W.

First time eating here. Got the mushroom Philly cheesesteak. Comes with lean steak, onions mushrooms and cheese. Also ordered fried green tomatoes and Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. All of the food was so delicious. One of the best sandwiches I have ever ate before. The tomatoes were crunchy just the way I like them. So juicy. Will definitely recommend this restaurant and would eat there again. Inside the restaurant was clean and food was cooked pretty quickly.

Food is good and service is good. Small seating and limited parking. Haven't tried everything.

Horrible. Ordered the original Philly all I got is ground beef. And onions cooked in it. Bland and not good at all. Won't eat there again

My wife and I had to stop by the Plaza to pick up a couple of things, so we stopped in to pick up…read moresome lunch. This location looks very clean and almost new...although they said they had been in the location for two and a half years. Clean and airy has always been important, so this was a pleasant place to be. This atmosphere is enhanced by the good vibes from the counter guy. He was dressed in business casual, and was very pleasant to interact with. We not only got good food, but exchanged some interesting data, in the process. Good customer service can be a challenge to find, but this one has it in all aces. I had the Italian Sub, my wife had the Reuben on dark with a side of onion rings. The food is very, VERY good. All the sandwich components are excellent quality, and very tasty. We also had a couple of minor tweaks that they were happy to include in the process. There is an option to get a "supersized" (not what they call it), sandwich, which adds a lot more meat and cheese and includes bacon. It produces a sandwich which is just about sufficient for two meals. Overall, a "Two thumbs up" for the food quality and taste. Now then... what was I not thrilled about in this moment. 1) while it was not terribly busy, it took a fair chunk of time to get the order ready to go. Now, this might have been because the onion rings were in the fryer, and that process cannot be sped up and maintain quality. Also, there were a couple of to-go orders that apparently came in ahead of us. 2) The amount of Sauerkraut on the Reuben was a bit slim. I have come to expect that the layer of Sauerkraut to be as thick as the layer of meat. When we go in next time, I shall try and remember to get that done. 3) The sandwiches are a bit pricy, at $10 for a basic, 12" sandwich, and another $3.00 for the up-sized option. While I am sure that some of this is a result of the supply chain issues caused by the pandemic, it was quite a bit to pay out. However, having digested the experience a bit, I also realize that for quality like this, it is not OVER priced...just on the high end of the scale. Overall, while I would not rate it as the best deli in the Knoxville, TN area, I would put this small, local business up near the top. Luckily I did have enough to afford this treat, although it was not inexpensive. Will I go there every week or every month? Unlikely...but, I can easily see going there at least four times a year. So, if you want an excellent place to eat, that is not the most expensive around, I strongly suggest you make your way to the Sunrise Deli!

My excitement started fading quickly after I arrived to pick up my order. You see, I was disappointed in myself because I was almost 20 minutes late. I was worried about the freshness of my order. I waited in the line marked "order pick up" noticing that my sandwiches were sitting on the counter. After being ignored by all 4 employees for over 5 minutes (including 1 that was standing within 3 feet of me) I said something to get some attention. She politely explained that the fries just went down. What? I thought to myself. It was supposed to be ready 20 minutes ago. Oh well, at least the fries will be fresh, and it was, after all, partially my fault for being late. However, the Cheesesteak with extra steak and cheese will soon be a block of cheese just sitting there on the counter. What I didn't understand is why I was still waiting after the fries had finished cooking. All I could think of what that cheesesteak sitting on the counter. Another 5 minutes passed before I approached the counter again. The employee stepped up and explained that "it is almost ready." I said those fries are almost ready? Pointing to the full bin of fries that they just filled an order out of. She said nothing, turned around, finally filled my order, then turned back to me and explained that she had "forgotten all about me. I was 1 of only 2 people in the place at the time of that comment. At least she was telling the truth. The entire time I was in there I felt ignored and forgotten. Two ladies waiting on their order made it clear to me that they felt the same way....... Finally home and time to unveil the sandwiches and eat. The Grilled Turkey Provolone is described as "Oven-roasted turkey breast, provolone, lettuce, Roma tomato YOUR CHOICE: mayo, spicy brown mustard, honey mustard." I guess they misspelled the words "Your Choice" because it should have read "Their Choice." I say that because they decided to leave the lettuce and roma tomato off the sandwich entirely. While I was waiting for my order a guy came back in the store with his bag because his order was also wrong. They had given him toppings he asked to leave off. I think anything but meat and cheese confuses this crew. Toppings seem to be where they struggle. As mentioned above, I ordered extra steak and extra cheese on my sub. I had to look for the steak in this roll of bread. Glad I ordered extra because regular amounts would have led to a bread sandwich with the smell of steak at best. I have been to Penn Stations in four different states, and they were all consistent. Until this one. I don't even recognize this as Penn Station. If you would have handed me that Cheesesteak without me knowing where it was from and told me it was Penn Station, I'd have called you a liar. Disappointing meal to say the least. The service was terrible, and the quality control was nowhere to be found. This all points to a subpar staff which is usually caused by lack of training from poor management. This place is newly opened, and they need to get it together fast or it will be quickly closed.
