Philly with curly fries

Very clean establishment with pleasant staff. Philly was unbelievable! I'll be back often.

8" Original

This small, no-frills storefront offers a fairly-priced, tastey, hot sammich on soft, fresh-baked bread that serves as an appropriate homage to this Philly streetfood staple. I had the small (8") original with no sides. It was the perfect size for me, and satiated my appetite. But if I'd been hungrier, I would have totally added some onion rings. Maybe next time. There's nothing fancy here. But it offers up great flavor!

The Philly Cheesesteak Corner is a great place to get a tasty twist on a classic sandwich. They have traditional classic and some custom sandwiches. The pizza cheesesteak is a wonderful idea. You need try it. How has it not been done before? Not in Philly or in NYC. But in Bastrop!! This place is a must try.

Want a great cheesesteak sandwich? We'll look no further this place is so good! Our 2nd time here and will keep coming back very consistent and pack of flavors and full of meat I mean just look at the photo you need a fork and plenty of napkins I got the authentic Cheesesteak combo it has mushroom, onion, green pepper so tasty reminds me of PA street cart style sandwich, curly fries are the BEST!!! Chicken philly was juicy and seasoned well They don't only have cheesesteak they have burgers which is also amazing and huge burger. Top everything off don't forget to get a jar of Queso for $7 so worth it Service friendly staff, quick and even brings your food to you just don't forget to tip at the counter, they so deserve the tip.

Can't get enough of this place! I come here at least once every other week and am never disappointed. I love the authentic combo- my go to order, but everything I have tried here has been yummy! Friendly staff and quick service! This is an awesome little hidden gem that most wouldn't look twice at.

Delicious!

Decided to pick up an 10inch #4. The authentic with mushrooms, onions and bell peppers. The dining room is tiny with about 4 or 5 tables. There is an order window. Simple menu. You can see the kitchen and the Hispanic ladies back there had the place smelling fantastic. There was one order in front of me and mine only took about 10 minutes at most. I got the 10in philly upgraded to curly fries and added the cheese sauce and a drink. Total was just under $17. A little steep, but I did go for the extras. My sandwich looked as amazing as it tasted. Soft chewy bread. Delicious, well cooked and seasoned meat. Perfectly cooked fresh veggies. Just heavenly! Really. A great, great sandwich. The curly fries were tasty, and just the perfect crispy. Maybe a little skimpy on the amount, but satisfactory. My only issue overall, is that they are advertising a 2oz cheese sauce, but are only using a 1oz container. Delicious cheese sauce, but false advertising is terrible. Maybe it was a mistake, maybe they were out of 2oz containers. Even so. I was told nothing and allowed to pay for what turned out to be half the product. 1 star off for that.

Pulling up to Roadhouse felt like I was about to film a low-budget country music video. The aggressively unpretentious energy was immaculate. The all-dirt parking lot said everything! No curated patio, no aesthetic succulents just straight up vibes and dust. The place was packed at 1 p.m. Our server, Raven, took great care of us from the jump. Rave was very efficient, friendly, and had zero attitude. We ordered a basket of fries, a portobello mushroom burger for me, a cheeseburger, a Philly cheesesteak, upgraded side salads, and, of course, their famous carrot cake to share. Now, let me confess something: As a Californian, I walked in with absolutely zero expectations given the facade. And yet... the fries were perfect. The portobello burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and very satisfying! My friends inhaled their cheeseburger and Philly like they were participating in a competitive sport. Lol. And don't even get me started with their carrot cake. It was disrespectfully delicious! This was seriously the most humbling "don't judge a book by its cover" moment I've had in a while. Roadhouse doesn't need any curated lighting or a reclaimed-wood Instagram wall because the food and service speak for themselves. I drove into a dirt lot with skepticism and left faceplanted by my own bias. Consider me corrected, Bastrop!

That's fine because it allowed us a bit of time to check out downtown Bastrop. Once seated, service was American cafe classic. Very friendly and full of memorabilia on the walls and decore. The evening cleaning crew left us an upside down dead . . . Yup, you guessed it. We told the server, they might want to clean it up before seating the next guest at that table. Rule of restaurant opening is to sweep before the doors are opened. We will probably be back because it's still a great place for breakfast. CritDicks

This place is SO awesome, definitely worth at least stopping by and checking out…read more My partner and I were looking for a spot for him to grab a bite to eat on our way to our cabin. Just happened yo stumble upon The Gas Station and decided to check it out. If you love horror films, you'll dig this place. They have so many cool things inside. Tons of rad horror toys and posters and just stuff! I had so much fun just checking everything out. We were quick to find out that it was also one of the filming locations of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The gentleman at the counter was so enthusiastic and informative! It was awesome hearing him geek out over stuff with my boyfriend. After we geeked out over everything, we ordered a brisket plate with a side of coleslaw and beans. Food came out pretty fast. They don't have a dining area inside, but out back they have some picnic tables. He dug into his plate on site. Everything was pretty darn good, especially for a place called 'The Gas Station' hah. Recommend checking out this spot whether you looking for a bite or looking for some cool horror stuff.

You would never think this place sells decent barbecue. Honestly not half bad. They had just finished roasting chicken when we got there and the breast I was given was massive!!! I couldn't finish all of it lol. I also had the brisket which was super yummy! They have two bbq sauces- a regular and a ghost pepper one. I only tried the regular but my friends like the ghost pepper one. The sides were ok... I would opt for potato salad. Chili was meh. Overall not a bad experience. Food came out quick and the outdoor patio out back is nice enough, a lot of flies though.

I genuinely cannot believe I've never written a review for Paw-Paw's Catfish House because we have…read morebeen coming here for YEARS and I love this place so much. There are restaurants you try once because they're trendy... and then there are places like Paw-Paw's -- the kind that become part of your family's story over time. From the fried deviled eggs, to the seafood platters, to the chicken tenders, to the genuinely wonderful staff, there just isn't a better spot for this kind of old-school comfort food experience. And the staff? Always SO friendly and welcoming. Every single time we come in, it feels less like "customer service" and more like old friends excited you finally stopped by so they can catch up with you awhile. That kind of warmth cannot be faked, and it makes such a difference. Now let's discuss these fried deviled eggs. Because respectfully... who allowed them to be this good? You think deviled eggs have reached their final form and then Paw-Paw's comes in like, "Hold my beer." Crispy, crunchy, creamy, flavorful perfection. We start most meals with them because not ordering them would simply be poor decision making at this point. I usually get the chicken tender basket and LISTEN -- these aren't sad little freezer tenders pretending to be a meal. These tenders are literally as big as my hand. Juicy, tender, flavorful, cooked perfectly every time. My adult kids are obsessed with the seafood platter: three pieces of fried catfish and three jumbo fried shrimp with fries, pinto beans, slaw, hushpuppies, and homemade tartar or cocktail sauce. And when I say the catfish tastes CLEAN, my fellow seafood people will understand exactly what I mean. No muddy taste, no weirdness -- just fresh, crispy, perfectly fried fish done right. And the portions? Paw-Paw did NOT come to play. Nobody is leaving hungry unless that was a personal choice. What I love most, though, is the feeling of the place. The small-town care. The heart that clearly goes into the food. The old-school comfort vibe that feels increasingly rare these days. Places like this matter. And Paw-Paw's is absolutely one of them.
