The Philly Steak house on Aigburth Road is something of an oxymoron: there is nothing remotely Philadelphia-esque about it and at the time of dining there did not offer any steak!!!
We instead opted for grilled chicken, which had clearly been fried, was smothered in an unrecognisable cheese, and had saturated the bread till the base of the sandwich was of a similar consistency to wallpaper paste.
The walls looked like they were last painted in the 1980's, there was abolutely no food or salad in the usual display at the counter, and the floor resembled something from a 19th century abbotoir!
the smoke from the kitchen (which looked like it was in dire need of scrubbing) bellowed across the room and out onto Aigburth Road, and for a moment I thought I had actually walked into a blacksmiths shop!!!
Avoid this place like the plague....in fact I think I have already contracted said disease from the deep fried sandwich I only managed to half consume... read more
