Worse place to go to the guy yelled at us because we were at the wrong window, he seem like the cook or something. Don't come here worse customer service. Been here waiting for over half an hour.

One of the worst cheesesteaks I've had. Meat was so tough and chewy I couldn't even bite through it. Booooo meat is literally stuck in my teeth. Booooooooo they also gave us unsalted fries

Classic cheesesteak joint on the corner in a seedy neighborhood, gotta love Philly! Maybe if I didn't know any better, this place would receive more stars, but we're looking at is pretty average stuff here. Shaved ribeye isn't too thick and certainly not chopped. Therefore, NO MELT! Fail! Now maybe if the meat had a flavor that could stand-out on its own, we could allow this to pass, but this is only a step or two above boxed frozen crap from the supermarket. Not enough salt and just an average meaty taste. Some of the onions were cooked perfectly while some were nearly raw. The difference in textures was distracting and raw onion is not as good as cooked. Mayo was available in a self-serve condiment pump can and was absolutely disgusting. DO NOT use this mayo, it will ruin anything it touches. Free hot peppers always recommended. There are two windows for ordering, and you need to know which one to go to to order steaks or side orders. Luckily, this rookie rolled up to the correct window by accident, and was able to figure out the process by watching others make mistakes and then get corrected by all the pros who were there waiting for their steaks and fried foods near their respective windows. For a cheesesteak place that's open 24 hours, it's a nice location off the highway and not a bad option. Just not going to be one of my regular stops.

I've been to Philip's a few times and I've had different experiences but most were very positive. In fact, this is a Top 10 cheesesteak in the city of Philadelphia and by far my favorite slab cheesesteak. Sorry Steve's lovers. They need to be more consistent but when they're good, they're really good. (I rate Cheesesteaks all around Philadelphia on my web series "Cheesesteak Run" on YouTube. Foodie Life Mac is the page on YT and @foodielifemac on Ig)

I ordered through Uber eats on a Tuesday evening. The food came quickly and the order was correct. I waited about 30 minutes. The French fries were great! Everything anyone could ask for concerning French fries. They were fresh, crispy, big and hot. The cheesesteak however, was the worst cheesesteak I've ever had in Philly. I don't like that they don't chop up the steak or trim the fat. Also, the meat was a little stingy. I couldn't even taste the American cheese. I took about 4 bites and threw the rest away. The roll was the best part. Total for cheesesteak and cheese fries=$17.47. Not including tip or the delivery fee. Learn from a pro: don't order thru Uber eats or grubhub because they will charge you more than Philip's delivery fee, which is $1.50. Call them to order delivery. I probably won't order from here again.

Growing up on Philly cheesesteaks, I would give Philip's a solid 3 for cheesesteaks. They have parking, friendly staff, and are fast and efficient. RJ thought it was great, but he's from NY. The steak is too thick and chewy, and a little skimpy, and the whiz isn't my favorite on a cheesesteak.. It was still tasty though, However, both the cheese fries and the inside out pizza were banging, and bumps this up to a solid 4. The fries were fresh, hot and crispy, and a large portion smothered in the whiz, which I'm fine with for fries. We had to take the inside out pizza home but even heated up it was fantastic. Crispy on the outside with sauce and melted cheese on the inside. We were sad when that was gone!

I was surprised at how good this cheesesteak was because of the reviews. I ordered my steak and waited a short time for it which was nice. The steak was flavorful and fresh. The meat itself was not too fatty which I appreciated and the bread was soft. I'd return since it was yummy and close to home!!

Tasted as bad as it looks. Those are suppose to be fried onions. This had to be the worst cheese steak I ever had.

This place deserves no stars. This place use to be the only place in the city for cheese steaks. They should be ashamed of themselves putting out a product like this. I can not believe I am saying this I would steer clear of this place. Sad

I miss these steaks so much. They do it the original way (not chopped) and the bread is the best. That hot sauce is next level too.

The pickled red onions really elevated this dish. 5/5 The grilled salmon had a great char and crunch. The Love is better. The space is beautiful, the service is consistently warm, and Stephen Starr's fingerprints are all over it. I love the painted white brick, the floral artwork along the walls, the street-level energy, and the outdoor seating. I also remember taking the elevator upstairs once. I can't remember whether we actually stayed and ate up there or asked to move back downstairs, but the space was charming and extremely private. It would be a great setting for a group dinner or event. Personally, I prefer downstairs. It's darker, livelier, and I like being at street level. The menu historically leaned more heavily into elevated Southern comfort food, which has never been my favorite style of cooking. That's probably why I've tended to prefer The Love for lunch over dinner, especially when Philadelphia has so many Starr restaurants competing for the same night out. I used to get what I remember as a salmon and farro bowl, although the menu appears to have evolved since then. Whatever the exact iteration was, I loved it. Fish and farro are both right in my wheelhouse. I've also enjoyed the kale salad and other lighter dishes. The thing I remember most vividly, though, is the cornbread. It is outrageously good and reason enough to order something for the table. I also give Starr credit for continuing to broaden the range of food styles in his portfolio. Once you've built restaurants across Italian, French, Mexican, English, steakhouses, seafood, and the rest, there are only so many obvious boxes left to check. The Love feels like its own lane: distinctly American, approachable, comfort-driven, and still polished enough to feel like a Starr restaurant. Looking at the menu now, it seems broader than I remember, with more options that appeal to me, and I'd be psyched to go back. The Love probably isn't the first Starr restaurant I'd choose purely based on cuisine, but that says more about the depth of his Philadelphia portfolio than it does about this restaurant. The room, hospitality, location, and execution are all excellent. I'd happily come here any day. Starr doesn't miss.

We asked for the toppings on the side because, you know, kids, but WOW. The vodka sauce was delicious, and the pickled tomato concoction that came with them? I could've bathed in it. The calamari was perfectly crisp and came with the unexpected bonus of onion rings, which were ever-so-lightly battered and perfectly crunchy. And once again, the sauces were superb. The boys shared a cheese pizza, half pepperoni, and really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the burger, and yes, I stole a bite--and yes, to no one's surprise, it was amazing. We also ordered the charred broccoli after seeing everyone rave about it online. They were NOT wrong. Creamy, smoky, charred perfection. And finally... drumroll please... the 10 oz. smoked Duroc pork chop! OH. EM. GEEE.
