I hired this broker through Uship.com to pick up my 64 impala in los angeles and deliver to Kansas, the driver wrecked my car when he was loading it, he side swiped my passenger quarter panel. I left a review on Uship.com stating what happened. 5 minutes after I left my review the owner of philam transportation called me and accused me of lying and cussed me out then hanged up on me. This company as no real customer service. I sent him pictures of the damages and a written note thar was signed by his driver stating that he did in fact do the damages. Stay far away from Philam "transport". They are NOT a carrier and literally my car was picked up by a carrier that they booked but the destination was changed from Miami to LA and was being delivered to someone else. I ended up paying the carrier to return the car to New York AND pay another carrier to take the car to Miami. And Philam won't return the funds they were paid. This is likely a theft ring and the police have investigated and now has been turned over to the FBI. We almost lost a new Rolls Royce and expensive items that were in the car. I needed to ship a car for the first time. I was put in touch with Gilbert at Philam after getting the runaround from the transporter I had originally decided to go with. Not only a super nice and fun guy to talk to, he actually took the time to explain how things worked in an industry that's full of sketchy practices (like shady dispatch companies that offer you lowball quotes, only to jack up the price once they have your deposit). The insight he gave helped me make sure I didn't get taken advantage of. Wish I had found him first. Dispatch companies all use the same software and work with the same drivers, but finding a dispatcher that wants to help you (vs prey on you) is the hard part. Gilbert is one of the good guys. John reached out to me to offer a discount if I ship with them directly and that I wools pay at pickup. I e-mailed them on April 29th and May 4th as day of pickup was May 5th. I never heard back, left voicemail and called all numbers listed in email and didn't hear back. Today is day of pickup and I ended up booking with Montway. John/Patrick at PhilAMtransportation agreed to one total price in which a deposit was paid. That information was not giving to the carrier United Auto Trans Corp which charged another price point after initial agreement. I had a terrible experience with Philam Transport. From the start, their representatives weren't very clear about many things and unprofessional. Communication was poor, very rude and eventually, they completely stopped responding to my messages. To make matters worse, they charged me more than the original quote without any explanation. When I asked for a refund and to pick up my car from the lot bc I wanted to go with another reliable company they wanted to charge me $200 to pick up my car from lot and denied my refund of my deposit (which they never mentioned it was non refundable). Gilbert at Philam found me the best rate for shipping my car cross-country. Understand that they're a broker, so they're not the ones delivering the vehicle, but they saved me at least $300. I was a little taken aback by how casual it seemed e-mailing Gilbert, who replies quickly with one sentence replies. I can understand others who are put off by this, but it's efficient. There was one miscommunication where my car was a GTI but the carrier expected a Jetta, but it didn't make a material difference. I felt a little anxious being told I wouldn't have confirmation of a carrier until 72 hours before, but he got it confirmed a week in advance, which put me at ease. My car arrived on time and no damages. However, someone checked all the things we left in the car and took the hidden bag of DeWalt cordless drill, which was the last item we used and had to go with the car. The bag contains the drill was still in the car and other household items where still there. Update: I am sorry that I made a terrible mistake: I have misplaced the drill and it was found. This was my very first time using a transportation broker or transportation service to deliver a vehicle. I purchased a motorcycle in Florida and need it delivered in Washington State. I received a phone number for this company from a friend and was extremely happy with all of the service and help that I received from them. Gilbert was excellent! Myself and Gilbert had some difficulties with the dealer, but he was great in assisting me with getting my motorcycle to me. Terrible and very shady transport company, with extremely unprofessional customer service. Worked with Gilbert to transport a car. Seemed ok at first, but things turned south. We were having issues delivering a car due to the weather which is understandable. His hired driver couldn't give me a confirmation on whether he was going to stay and wait for the storm was over to pick up the car or not. Gilbert went ahead and canceled on the driver, and hired a new driver. He lied to the original driver saying I no longer needed the car transported (That was a lie he used so he wouldn't receive a bad review and have the $100 cancellation fee charged to me instead). Goes without saying the original driver was extremely angry, called me to try and figure out what is wrong. I informed him on what is happening, that Gilbert canceled on him and hired a new driver. Soon after my phone call with the original driver Gilbert called me very angrily yelling at me and asked what I have done. He was completely unprofessional and was cursing at me over the phone and complaining about the terrible review he was getting from the transporter. He got so upset and abruptly hung up on our phone call. After this I could no longer work with Gilbert to transport my vehicle. Avoid this company completely to ship your car. I used Philam Transport to transport my car from Staten Island, NY to California. I was hesitant at first because I have never used any transport services before but the owner Gilbert was reassuring and has been honest with me regarding possible delays with the transfer especially if the weather does not permit. I got my Toyota SUV without any damage and I managed to sneak in some personal items without any trouble. I was informed that this is not allowed but leave it at my own risk he said as breakage of any fragile items can not be avoided. Of course leaving oversized items is never permitted as it is totally against the contract. I wished that others have the same experience as I had. Everything was smooth and was less stressful to me. If there were a way to give no stars at all, I would certainly do it. I spoke to Gilbert, the owner. He's a fast talking guy who tries to reassure you that he's doing you a fantastic service by giving you his login information to all of his shipping sites, etc. Well, I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. He takes a "deposit" to make sure he gets paid up front. He tells me the transaction will be $149 to ship my car. He also says he does not take any money until the car is picked up. He wants a card "just as a reassurance". He states he will call before the card is charged if you want to change the card to something else. I wake up the day the car is supposed to be picked up and he has charged my card $175. I didn't want it going on the card I gave him and he never called to get a different card as he stated. He states this is an error in his accounting department, which doesn't actually exist. He is a one man show. No one else works at Philam Transport. He refunds the money and charges my other card the correct amount of $149. Just as an FYI - I include the following because even though Gilbert doesn't own the trucks or have anything to do with the driver, it lends to the overall situation of the transport and as the broker, he should hold some responsibility as to who I paid him to hire to transport the vehicle. The car is picked up by some shifty immigrants on Friday. Gilbert states on the phone that the car will be there on Monday or Tuesday. Those days came and went, no car. Wednesday - No car. Thursday - driver calls and tells my wife he wants to meet her in a vacant parking lot at 12:30 AM with no lights. No go. Finally scheduled for Friday morning. Wife arrives and then the driver tells her that he isn't giving her the car unless he gives her an extra $100. I call the actual transportation company and get all of that squared away. Please keep in mind, this entire time, my wife has a ONE WAY rental car to the tune of $350 because the car didn't arrive when Gilbert said it would. After multiple calls with the transportation company, they send me the original contract which states that the car can be delivered within 2 days of when Gilbert promised it would arrive. So, in the contract it states the car could have been delivered on Thursday with no penalty. Gilbert never mentioned this, and thus LIED about when the car would be delivered and knew up front that the transportation company was under no obligation to deliver the car when he promised me it was to be delivered. Fast forward to Friday morning - I now have an ADDITIONAL $149 fee on my credit card as Gilbert stated that he "refunded the original $149" for some reason that no one knows. I will be calling my credit card company today to dispute all charges and cancel all cards he has access to. read more

Having your car moved can be a somewhat "nervy" experience, but the team at Philam explained everything and did a great job. While traveling we experienced an engine failure which required a 500 mile transport to our preferred mechanic. Gilbert was extremely helpful in navigating the transportation business. First transportation company "we"chose was a bust. Quickly found success with transport company #2. Gilbert was patient and persistent throughout. Most people giving 1 star really do not understand how the overall business of open market shipping works and the limitations companies like PHILAM have. I am sorry to say that I cannot give Philham Transport a favourable review. The owner Gilbert didn't really do anything to assist me with the problem of my car being damaged during transport. The driver Surjay was the issue. I had my car shipped from Orlando to Chicago area in October. After delivery, later that same day, I noticed my radio antenna was broken. I notified Surjay and Gilbert immediately. Upon taking my car to a auto parts store I was told that the damage was more extensive in that not only have the antenna been broken off but the base of it as well. I was told that the damage was so bad that in order to have a radio in my car I would need several hundreds of dollars to get it fixed. I found a radio shop that ads radios to cars who drilled into the base instead of taking off the panels. They fixed it and I got a new antenna for $96. I sent the bill to both Gilbert and Surjay. I called Surjay who was very rude and yelled at me. I advised him I took it to two body shops beforehand and both wanted several hundred dollars due to removing the panels on the car. I told him this was a much better deal to get it fixed. I did received a check for only $30, (the cost of a antenna only), despite explaining the situation to Surjay. Gilbert has said it is not his problem and to deal with Surjay only. I feel that Gilbert or Surjay should pay the extra amount ($60) in that this was the damage done during transport. Because of this issue I cannot recommend them as a company that is honest or truthful to its customers. I really thought I was doing do diligence researching and finding a reliable transport company. Pat was outgoing and informative on the phone, reviews were good(for a transport company). I agreed about a month ago, was in constant contact with Pat until the week my truck was suppose to be picked up. First I received an email that it would be picked up over the weekend, the weekend passed, with no pickup of my truck. Then I was told by Pat verbally to expect pickup on Tuesday afternoon and he was sending me an email. The email never arrived. I left several voice messages and emails. No response. My husband was able to get thru (using his phone) to find out there was no scheduled pick up and that they were still unable to find a driver. I have emails stating I would have it delivered on the 24 or 25 of June. They have had a month to find a driver. If the bid we too low, they should have contacted me immediately. The owner Gilberton offered to take my truck and store it until they find a driver. Umm I dont think so. In summary, the drivers will always choose the higher bid. It was very scary and I was getting lots of high pressure sales calls from companies claiming to be the best but then seeing terrible reviews for them later. I talked to Gilbert on the phone and he was extremely up front and honest with me. I could sense that he was different and he could be trusted, so I told him to find my transportation. I finalized the purchase of a new vehicle on a Friday and Gilbert had a trucking company with an enclosed trailer out of Missouri that said they could pick it up on the next day. It could not have worked out better as I sold my vehicle on that Monday and my new vehicle was delivered on Tuesday so I was only without a car for one day. Don't waste your time contacting a bunch of these companies and having them pester you with high pressure sales tactics and false promises.
