The best pansit I've ever had
    AJ S.

I used to have Phil Me Up every Saturday morning when I worked as a vendor at farmers markets. I could not recommend them highly enough. Even just the thought of their lumpia got me excited to go to work at 5am (a VERY impressive feat). And there isn't a week that goes by where I don't crave their pansit. My praise doesn't stop there though, because not only is their food unfairly delicious, but the people on their team that I have gotten a chance to know are some of the kindest people I've met on the job. If you haven't had Phil Me Up before - or even if you've never tried Filipino cuisine before - please do yourself a favor and give them a shot. They will not disappoint.

Came across Phil Me Up at the Oak Park Farmers Market on Saturday(s). I saw they offered Vegsilog and asked if it was vegan and was told they just leave the egg off to make it vegan. So, that's what I had! It was a to-go box with saucy faux meat, rice and pickled cucumber. It took a few minutes to prepare so I put my order in and came back.. Thanks for having a vegan option! (I also had a breakfast taco from Bambi Vegan Tacos and it was stuffed so the overflow of tofu eggs went on my Vegsilog.)

I'm always excited and supportive when I see my people (Filipinos) serving our food. I had the beef tapsilog and it didn't disappoint. The beef was tender and I couldn't get enough, the pickled cucumber had just the right amount of sour vinegar like a true Filipino loves and the over easy egg was hot over my rice. However, there is room for improvement on the "garlic" rice, I didn't really taste or see a visual of any garlic. The staff was friendly and attentive, I even noticed a paper on how to sign "beef", "Chicken" etc. In Sign Language. I love this not only because someone associated with Phil Me Up maybe deaf or HH but also it educates others and provides the opportunity to communicate. I'm smitten to the fact that I can order in Sign or Tagalog here.

I just tried their vegan lumpia and it was delicious! Highly recommend. Half a dozen vegan lumpia is $8.

    Pancit special

I had their pancit special at the Midtown farmers market this weekend. They had about 3 set meal items + this pancit special and lumpia. The pancit was delicious, though I wish I had sriracha on me to add some spice. I hope to run into this truck again to get some lumpia from them to try.

Tastes good but when they raise their prices by nearly half of the previous price within a few months, it's a turn off. Won't be going back.

The price of rice everything added up quickly, and I was a bit sticker shocked when the bill came. It is made of grilled pork face and ears enveloped in a citrusy layer and sweet onions, topped with fried egg. This version is very close to the original recipe in the Philippines. My only negative comment is the steamed rice is $6 for a single serving.!

They told us that their parents are Filipina and Chinese, resulting in the restaurants dual heritages. Their father is the chef and his food is amazing! We tried the vegan kare kare which definitely exceeded expectations. Super rich, almost like a curry, but without that specific spice. The sotanghon is their version of chow mein with jelly noodles, also really delicious. It usually comes with three types of protein, but we only tried it with shrimp. Still delicious! They also make their table chili oil in house and it is delicious. Not as spicy as most but very flavorful and added to every dish, makes everything super yummy. I also got to try their chicken lumpia. Standard, crispy, and savory. I would like to come back to try their chicken wings, I'm hearing that it is a best seller! They also sell lechon here, one of the only places in Sacramento where you can get a whole one!

This restaurant is a gem!…read more We've been passing by this restaurant for years and had been curious as they serve both Chinese and Filipino food. We were really more interested in the Filipino food, as there aren't many options in Sacramento. My husband says that the Filipino food has a Chinese influence here. It's definitely a more hole-in-the-wall place. We came at around lunch time and were warmly greeted by two ladies. A couple of other parties came in after us. We ordered 4 dishes to share, and they came out pretty fast! 1) Pinakbet - probably my favorite dish. It's a simpler dish with vegetables including eggplant, bitter melon, okra, tomato, kabocha, pork. I liked that the bitter Leon had a but of a wok char flavor. The eggplant had a bit of an oil taste but I'm aware that restaurants will fry the eggplant and then stir fry it into the fish to maintain the color...I actually liked that oil taste haha. 2) Kare Kare - it's a peanut butter stew with vegetables including eggplant, bokchoy, green beans, and oxtail. The oxtail is so tender. They also provide a shrimp paste and that adds some salt and pungent flavor. 3) Pancit palabok - as you'd expect with the addition of tofu. I wished they had more chicharron on there for texture 4) Bopis - diced pig ear with some jalapeños and peppers. This was seasoned so well and goes well when mixed with rice. We ordered rice to go along with the dishes. There was sooooo much food leftover. Great value! I am totally looking forward to the next time I get to go here!

(I've been here before and had much better experiences.) The tapsilog and tocilog were not at all like the pictures or what I've had before. The tapsilog we got were chunks of the cheapest cut of beef. Very tough and barely marinated. It felt as if oppose to telling us they were out of tapsilog, they decided to just cut up some beef and sell it to us. Absolutely disappointed! The tocilog was not any better. Tocilog is a sweet cured pork. There was not sweetness to it. Lacked flavor! The eggs in both silogs were overcooked! The only thing salvageable was the pork lumpia, 10 pieces for $10.99. I feel cheated as a customer and will not be returning. Food is overpriced and inedible!
