I know it can be done because I had it before by a stylist who moved to Arizona. It helps me to add body to my hair with big wave curls. She pretended to understand and proceeded to chop away and gave me shelf layers. The results- I looked like Carol Brady ( Brady bunch tv series). It has finally grown out. I haven't had a decent haircut in years. I usually just cut it myself straight across with no styling. It's always so expensive and never looks good. So while this is a negative review for Rain, it's also a review of most salons where stylists only know how to do the basics even when they charge a fortune. I've tried several salons all different $$$$$$

I love having an excuse to go out to Los Ranchos. It's a little bit of a drive for me, but I just love the area. My most recent visit was for a prescheduled haircut. I've been trying to get on a more regular schedule and they recommend you get a cut just about once a quarter. I really didn't feel like I needed a haircut and I was almost regretting even making the appointment but once I got finished, I was amazed at how much hair she took off. We didn't do anything dramatic but my hair is on the thicker side it's great to get off the deadweight.

After looking through other 1-star reviews, it's clear this is a recurring issue for many loyal clients who were treated the same way. What makes it worse is that there are reviews where the owner admits they cancelled clients' appointments because a stylist was sick or to adjust their own schedule, yet they do not offer customers the same consideration. The lack of consistency and fairness is very disappointing. The receptionist I spoke with was unprofessional and unnecessarily harsh. Instead of showing any understanding, she repeated the policy in a condescending tone and made guilt-tripping comments like "these are the stylists' careers" and "you're affecting their income." That is not an acceptable way to speak to customers, especially when emergencies or illnesses happen. A good salon understands that life happens and handles situations with empathy and flexibility. Unfortunately, this business seems more focused on enforcing fees than providing good customer service or retaining loyal clients. If you value fair treatment and professionalism, I strongly recommend choosing a more reputable salon that treats customers with basic respect.

This is the worst experience I have ever had at a hair salon…read more DO NOT LET GINA OR TAMI TOUCH YOU. I went in for a simple highlight touch up. I should have been alarmed when Tami was telling Gina what to do when she was putting the color foils in my hair, and didn't know how to mix the color but I figured that Tami knew what she was doing and they surely wouldn't let someone do hair that didn't know how to. When it had finished processing and I had been blown dry I couldn't tell a difference from when I came in other than my blonde was now yellow and brassy. I still had the same amount of roots in my hair that were now more pronounced because they had changed color. Gina didn't tone my hair at all after either. She also mentioned that it probably messed up because I wasn't Mexican. That she had only done Mexican people's hair. Since I wasn't pleased Tami came over and said that she saw the problem and could fix it. I trusted her because I saw the woman before me leave that she had colored and it looked fine. Once she finished she dried my hair and turned me around. I was platinum blonde with orange hues. I have never cried so hard in my life. She said she thought it looked great. All I wanted was a touch up on my highlight. They turned me entirely platinum blonde. I ran out of there crying and went to go see the manager Joanne at their sister salon elements on Peggy road. When I got there she told me how sorry she was and offered to fix it right then. She mentioned that Gina was brand new that she had never let her do color before and she didn't know what she was thinking. I told her about the comment she made about the fact that I wasn't Mexican and she seemed to be extremely embarrassed. All she could do for me was put some toner on it and make me brunette until the following weekend because she wanted to let my hair rest. It made sense to me so I said okay. Feeling a little bit better with an appointment set for the following Saturday, I went home with brown hair, not at all what I wanted, but I didn't look like a circus person. Saturday came and on my way to my appointment I got a call from the salon cancelling my appointment because they decided to take another client instead. Didn't ask me to reschedule just said that I could not get in. This was 30 minutes before my appointment. I just waited and went to my usual girl here in Wisconsin. I will never go to another salon in New Mexico. Extremely unprofessional and just terrible stylists. Go at your own risk. Message me for before and after pictures.

After my appointment, she acknowledged that there was some banding and told me I could come back to have it fixed for free. I really appreciated that and scheduled an appointment, but it ended up being canceled and needed to be rescheduled. I definitely should have followed up sooner after that, and that's on me. I was honestly just nervous about reaching out and asking about it. But I originally paid around $160 plus tip, so I was disappointed when I reached back out and was told it would now be $165 to fix the banding because it had been over a week (around the two week mark). I completely understand that time had passed and I should have communicated sooner, but the main issue for me is that this just isn't what I wanted my hair to look like. Now I'm stuck with noticeable banding, and the only solution I really have at the moment is to get a box of dye and try to DIY it myself into a darker color. But I really loved the cut, and she was super sweet, which is why I'm just disappointed with how everything ended up.
