Rick and Carol (owners) know how to do things right. Wonderful barbecue with great selection of offerings. I always get a pulled pork sandwich with a side of either slaw or potato salad. You get a cup full of beef that would make two sandwiches easily and choose your own variety of sauces they offer. I love the sweet one. Can't go wrong there. read more

Way overpriced mediocre BBQ. We are from Kansas City, the home of Oklahoma Joes (voted one of the best BBQ in the country), The home of Gates BBQ, and The American Royal award winning Q39 and last but not least Jack Stack BBQ, this place in not even in their league and we can get the same meal with twice the amount of meat,slaw and baked beans for the same price or less. I won't compare taste and seasoning because every one has their opinion on that, however when you charge those prices for so little you had better bring it big time in the cook, smoke and flavor arena. This place not so much. Who puts a pinch of meat in a styrofoam coleslaw cup and charges those prices. DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME AND MONEY. You will be so disappointed. read more

I want my $15 back. As you can see by my picture, the brisket sandwich is sad. The meat was tough, gray and just bad. Easily the worst brisket I've ever had. The "Texas" hot link was just a red hot dog. Way over cooked, burnt and dried out. Straight out of a foodservice plastic bag. Go to Southside in Elgin, TX to taste a real hot link. Rib was the only edible item. Even it was over cooked. Not the semi-good over smoked, fall apart rib; but the dried out over cooked at high heat rib your dad cooked on the Weber. I stopped in coffeyville on my way back to my hometown, and I was really hungry, so I wanted some food, but not from the same old fast food places we humans always frequent. so I seen this place and when I saw "hog heaven", i was eager to see if the food lived up to it's name. I ordered a brisquet combo with sweet potato fries..and as you can see from the photo, this is what I got...only a few little fries that were like pencils to chew, the brisquet was tough and severly underseasoned and the bun was hard. the only thing that was good was the sweet tea, even though it could have used more sugar. and all of this cost me a whopping $9.87!! I like to give mom and pop non franchised businesses a chance, but you have to really up your game if you are going to compete with expensive resturants and popular fast food chains....This hog heaven turned out to be a bbq pit of hell. if you find yourself wanting bbq and you are in coffeyville...either go the grocers and buy your own meat and cook it...or drive somewhere else...drive on by the hog hell. read more

First time here (for lunch on a Tuesday, FWIW) and I'm surprised at the bad reviews. Place was clean, people were friendly, food was fantastic. I had the Piggly Wiggly, and it was the best pork sandwich I've had in a long time. The bacon didn't hurt, but the pulled pork was smoky, juicy, and flavorful. Went through drive thru and it was my first time here. The food was very delicious. I ordered the bbq chicken Sandwich with green beans. I also ordered fries and corn on the cobb. And for the BBQ sauce I requested the spicy sauce. Everything tasted GREAT!! The spicy bbq wasn't spicy at all to me but gave the sandwich some flavor. And they buttered the corn for me (without asking) and I loved that. It's the little things for me. Will definitely be back. read more

Stopped in this afternoon and had the BBQ Beef sandwich combo, which is a sandwich, a side, and a medium beverage for around $7.50 before a whopping nearly 10% sales tax is added. Should have ordered something else. The meat on the sandwich was cut with the grain instead of across, and the unrendered fat hadn't been trimmed so I had to pull off fatty chunks before I could eat it. The top of the bun was dry and crispy, which was nice, but the bottom of the bun was sitting on wet pickles, and hadn't been toasted, so it was kind of a soggy mess. Because of how the meat was improperly sliced, it was tough to chew. Mine wasn't hot all the way through, so I suspect the meat is sliced and refrigerated, then warmed up to order. The flavor was OK, and the sauce was good, so it wasn't bad enough to ask for our money back, but we'll never order that again. It was also a bit smaller and less filling than we expected, so I'm glad we got dessert. The check was a little over $25 for 2 combos and 2 desserts, which wouldn't have been bad if the sandwiches had been bigger and better, but was extremely expensive for what we got. The side we chose was the German Sweet Slaw, and that was better than the sandwich. It wasn't intensely flavorful, but the cabbage, which appeared ground instead of thin shredded, was not wilted. The clear, thin sauce was sweet and vinegary, and appeared to have a few caraway or poppy seeds in it, so it was OK and I would eat that again. The young woman who waited on us was very nice, and the facility was clean. They have a sign that says free WiFi, and there is a large screen TV, too. Each table has several sauces available, and a roll of paper towels. Not the best meal we've had in Coffeyville, but not the worst, either, although it was the most expensive by far. I'm not sure if we'll go back and give the rest of the menu a try, but if we do, I'll be sure to write about it. read more

We travel to KSCY quite often so we're always looking for different places to eat. Checking TripAdvisor we saw this was a 5 for 5 stars for BBQ. We love BBQ. Unfortunately this wasn't the type of BBQ ( if you could call this BBQ) we were used to. It certainly looked like a BBQ place. We should have had some clue when we didn't see any smoker, no wood, didn't smell any wood smoke, and when we went inside there were no bbq bottles on the tables, paper towels, salt and pepper but no sauce bottles. But we didn't. They had a lot of meats and probably 3 times as many sides as a regular BBQ. place. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich combo (drink and a side ) with roasted brussel sprouts and my husband ordered the chopped beef brisket sandwich with onion rings. They had a cold bar with the usual, onions, peppers, dill pickle slices. Plus that is where all the sauces were, 4 different flavors, sweet, original, hot, and Carolina. They also had a homemade soup which was free with a dine in purchase. I tried the soup and it was ok, it had potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, celery and sausage in a watery broth. It had no seasoning in it that I could tell, very bland. When our orders came I was surprised as the meat ( it wasn't BBQ so I'm going to call it meat) was not on the buns but in a small cup, like what salsa comes in in a Mexican restaurant only a little larger. No sauce or seasoning on the meat. No smoke or wood smell, basically I had regular cooked food pork roast and my husband had beef brisket. The buns were toasted and small. The roasted brussel sprouts were good, no seasoning. The onion rings were from frozen and had no onion taste. All in all, I wish I had read the reviews on this place. They were all at least 2 years old and older, checked yelp (after we ate) reviews we gave 2 1/2 stars. Guess where I'll look next time. So partly my fault for not reading the reviews ( and using TA instead of Yelp) snd for TA not advising of old reviews. Based on the reviews we had read we weren't certain that we wanted to try it. We were not wowed but we're not disappointed either. Yes the pork should have been seasoned before cooking but our pulled pork sandwich was good. The okra, green beans, and coleslaw were good also. If we are ever in Coffeyille again we would think of stopping in. read more

Most of the reviews are pretty old, so I want to add my take. I am new to the Coffeyville area, and so far Phelp's Hog Heaven is my favorite restaurant. Everything I have tried -pulled pork, BBQ chicken, the beans - has been great. My only complaint so far is that service is always slow. One night we stood at the counter for 10 minutes while two servers apologized repeatedly but still didn't stop what they were doing to take our order. Hog haven is pretty good BBQ for the area. I always get the pulled pork .. pretty good. Fries kind of soft. I like em crsipy. Hubby gets the little pig... the name of it alone will fool you.. its not little... Its a hot link topped with pulled pork topped with Bologna. Says it is the best you cant go wrong with that. 3 sauces to choose from. the hot has pickle juice in it. I prefer the sweet. There might be four sauces cant remember for sure. I purchased the brisket dinner for 3-5 people on Dec. 19, 2015. I had a horrible experience. First, they forgot the brisket, so I had to drive back into town to pick it up. The so-called dinner consisted of 4 slices of bread, 10 slices of brisket, and 12 pieces of fried okra. Now explain to me how such meager portions can feed 5 people! I can tell you it only fed 2. And the cost for this BS....$30. It's a good thing we ordered extra sandwiches or we wouldn't had enough to eat. I will not be doing business here again. read more

My wife and I have been driving past this place for years and finally decided to go and try some barbecue. We both order the 1/2 rack of baby back rib combo with fries and cole slaw. The fries, cole slaw and texas garlic toast were good, but the ribs were overcooked and dry. The only real flavor to them was when you put on some of the sauce to wet them down so you could chew. It's not bad enough to pay almost sixteen dollars apiece for this, and then get charged another fifteen cents each for a cup of water. Don't recommend and will NOT be going back again. read more

They also offered healthy vegetables as a side - how often do you see that a bbq joint? Their deserts looked fabulous. those RIBS are soooooooooooo hot, omg, im from texas and never had anything like that before, but recently i was there on a job, had the food there and LOVED it, all the guys i workd with have tried the HOTEST ribs they have... well im proud to say im the ONLY 1 from TEXAS to be on that wall of pictures because im the ONLY one that had the guts to eat all 3 of them completely but i refer overall to everyone i know, go to there for the regular food because its OUTSTANDING!!! get a website guys would help with the promotions id love to stop in there again and eat read more
