Went through drive thru while on a road trip from NE to OK. Food was good, and service was fast and friendly. What else can you ask for.

I tried something different each time. Was not impressed by the pizza burger. It wasn't bad, but it didn't taste like pizza at all. The other burgers I tried were awesome. I think I was most impressed with the sides, though. Anything fried, whether it be onion rings, tater tots, or fried mushrooms, was always perfect. And I mean PERFECT. I don't know what the secret is, but the batter never fell off my mushrooms or was soggy in any way. I love the fact that this is family owned since the 50s and operated out of an old trailer, like the old-timey 50s diners you see in movies. It's cute and quaint. But they only have a few booths, so don't expect large group seating.

And let's not forget the food! The club burger was a combination I've never tried before and it was wonderful. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly and tasted just as good as, if not better, than the $18 "gourmet" wagyu burger I had the day before. Might be the first time I chose to finish my burger rather than my tater tots. Wishing them much success in the future (and wishing we lived closer!).

In true fashion, I went with the 2-meat plate and two sides: sliced brisket, pork ribs, mac and cheese, and potato salad. Portion sizes were generous--plenty of food for under $20, which is a solid value. The ribs were the highlight: smoky, flavorful, and even better with the BBQ sauce on the side. The sliced brisket, on the other hand, was underwhelming and reminded me more of roast beef than true brisket. As for the sides, the potato salad tasted like something you'd pick up from Walmart--nothing special. The mac and cheese, though, was delicious: thick, cheesy, and comforting. I even mixed in a little BBQ sauce by accident, and it turned out to be a great combo. Overall, Smokey Joe's scratched the itch for some BBQ, but it didn't completely hit the mark. I'd give it 3.4 out of 5 stars. Next time, I'll swing by their actual restaurant in Nowata to see if the full experience lives up to the name.

One young woman was working all alone at this restaurant! So careless of the owners--not only bc customers' experiences suffer, but that poor girl! Nobody should be left to run a restaurant alone. Also, the brisket sandwich had the toughest and least flavorful brisket on it that I've ever had. One bright spot: the sides were not terrible. Save your money and go elsewhere for BBQ. Owners need to step it up and staff their restaurant appropriately and find someone who knows how to smoke meats. I don't plan to return to Smokey Joe's.
