Massaman of Colorado Lamb
Novia E.

Went here after a long day of snowboarding and driving all the way from Denver before checking in to our hotel. We were so excited to find a Thai Restaurant in the area we were staying in, but I guess this place has a lot of rooms for improvements. It was very generous of them to have crispy chips as a complimentary, and it comes with 2 different sauces too. We ordered bunch of different stuff, we love Thai food ! We ordered laksa, penang curry, Fried chicken, the lamb curry, Thai tea and birch beer. The lamb curry lacks of flavor and I think it's too watery for a curry.. I love my laksa, it's our fave on the table. Penang curry is ok. They can improve the flavor with more spices and flavor I think.. It's a great location and easy parking too!

This review has been lost in my drafts for a few months. This came not long after restaurants started reopening. Rewind your mind & read on. We found ourselves in Carbondale with Thai food on the brain--lucky for us, Phat Thai was ready with outdoor seating, superb service, and innovative takes on Thai and other Asian recipes. Our group was stoked to be seated with hardly a wait. Everyone started out with Thai Tea. I don't think I've ever had this and not liked it, but.. Their version was vibrant enough to consider another. Had I booze on the brain, they feature a decent selection of CO brews, wines, sake, and a full bar. I usually gauge a new Thai joint by trying first the Massaman curry. Here, they favor this dish with lamb. You'll hear no arguments here. Strident flavor notes from both meat and spice had my attention from the first to last bite. The twist? Sweet potatoes swimming in my bowl instead of the usual spuds. Approved. Thumbs up for the Phat Sie Ew, as well. Its noodles were perfect, the protein substantial and tasty. Bonus? Someone ordered the Thai fried chicken. You should, too. Overall, as long as you can deal with a Thai place that allows kimchi on the premises, this place deserves a visit.

Terrible takeout experience! We ordered more than $300 food, but around $80 food is missing. Also this restaurant charges additional 15% takeout fee when we picked up the order. This mandatory additional fee was not informed when we made the order.

Not only was the food so adventurous and flavorful our waitress was so fun and kept up my husband's teasing request to 'fill his beer when it reaches this level'. You know who you are! Thank you for giving us a fabulous night! Recommend Spicy duck Chicken Satay Spicy beef basil Steamed buns with mushroom And that coconut rice gives such a playful twist to any coconut rice I have ever had! Soooo scrumptious we got one to go!

Amazing environment, and really delicious food. I'm giving 5 stars but definitely was surprised by the cost! We eat vegan and adding tofu to my dish was $6. My husband got a beer and it was $10. So just note that it's very pricey. Our service was great though, so would recommend!

My friend is having one of Phat's delicious ramens (comes w a kick!)! I'm having the Phat Thai (again). Also pictured is Thai iced tea!

I moved to Cdale from San Francisco four years ago as a transfer student to CRMS (local boarding school), and Phat was the first restaurant I got to eat in when I first moved here. Over the course of the 3 years I stayed in Cdale, Phat remained my favorite eatery. Their food is delicious-- I'm vegetarian and lactose free and have never had complaints about the flexibility of their menu. The service is amazing-- in my last year living in the valley a friend and I began a tradition of eating there at least once a month. The staff was always happy to see us and extremely kind. They would give us extra sesame rice crackers and free dessert on our birthdays. They never judged us for ordering three Thai iced teas in a row. Their service is prompt. It was always the perfect place to bring my family when they visited. The vibes are immaculate. Their coconut rice is legendary. Their tofu pad thai is delectable. The edamame, perfection. The spring rolls, refreshing and beautiful. The Thai iced tea, decadent. I haven't been able to visit Phat Thai in over a year now (college be that way), and I don't even exaggerate when I say I think about them all the time (Thai fusion in Vermont just isn't the same). Phat Thai holds a special place in my heart. I must have dined there a hundred times at this point, and never once did I have a complaint. They are worth it all and more. If you live in the Valley, please consider ordering takeout from them during this quarantined time so that they stay in business-- they are a staple in this tiny town. I'm agnostic but Phat Thai is god's greatest gift to mankind. This part is most important for those who have never visited: Anybody who gives Phat a bad review was probably very rude or impatient with the lovely staff-- we always called ahead, always asked politely if we wanted to be reseated or preferred our food less spicy, and were met with equal (if not GREATER) hospitality.

Best restaurant in Carbondale--we have lived here almost two years, have tried most things on the menu, and it never disappoints.

The massaman is a go to. I dont stray too far from that after a few adventurous mistakes. Definitely better than most other options in town.

Solid choice. Tasty dishes in a nice little place with a great atmosphere. The Mama Phat (ground pork with noodles) was wonderful.

Service is outstanding, food is scrumptious and the menu is even more varied and delicious when you dine in. We ordered two appetizers, crying tiger and crispy chicken wings. Both came with different sauces, and the one they use for the wings is something I would like to bottle and take home. It's tangy and spicy! I ordered the beef noodle bowl and my husband had the duck red curry that he loves. Fantastic! The restaurant is small but beautifully decorated and maintained. We absolutely adore this place!

There were a few little fountains on the perimeter, turf on the ground, and decorations hanging from the trees. They had a really nice high chair with a tray for our baby. It felt like kids were welcomed even though the vibe felt upscale. They had plastic kids plates and cups. They were very accommodating of our sons dairy allergy. Even though they don't have an official kids menu they were helpful finding something that our 3yr old and baby might like. I got the yellow curry with tofu and it was excellent. The curry sauce was flavorful and warming.

I had crab rangoons ( wonderful!) and delicious hot sour soup which I couldn't finish. The waiter took great care to pout it into a container and then put that in a plastic bag so it wouldn't spill on our drive home. We love the Glenwood Ming's and found the Carbondale location to be excellent, too.

One evening, we had a family rendez-vous here, which worked for both vegans and carnivores. Our friendly server led us through the bar and main room to another dining area that was much roomier. Service was attentive for our large group. The Crab Rangoon appetizers ($8.95) disappeared almost immediately. The vegans devoured the Edamame ($4.95). I ordered the ample Sizzling Beef and Scallops ($26.95), which was spicy and delicious. Even though I ate a lot of it, there was plenty left over for a huge lunch the next day! Everyone else enjoyed what they ordered. I would have written more about their dishes, but they were annoyed that I was taking photos. The restaurant itself is sparkling clean, including the bathroom. A huge parking lot out front makes this a convenient place to dine. Looking forward to returning the next time I'm in Carbondale!

If you're coming off the mountain after a heavy session and need to refuel without the usual lodge…read morenonsense, Thai Chili 78 is a solid play. I hit this spot on a Friday evening, and the space is actually legit--plenty of room to move around so you aren't cramped up while you're trying to wind down from the day. I started with the chicken Tom Kha, which was exactly what I needed to cut through the cold. For the main, the beef Pad See Ew held its own. The flavors were balanced and the beef was cooked right. I've had my fair share of Thai food across different cities, so while I wouldn't call this the absolute greatest of all time, it's definitely high-quality for a mountain town. It's good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a much better move than whatever quick-service options are at the base. If you want a meal that actually matches the energy of a good day on the slopes, check them out. It's a smooth, reliable four stars.

In honesty, I'm giving it one more star simply because eating there, the service was the additional star. The pad see ew is adequate, with enough seasoning to remind you of the classic dish, though it doesn't quite stand out. There is no spice to the dish; the chili crisp upon request was more salty tha spicy. The wonton soup and wonton noodle soup are comforting choices--especially on a cold day--but the flavors could use a bit more depth. It really tasted a little lack luster; more on the sweet side. They also offer boba drinks, though these appear to be powder-based rather than freshly brewed. There are several fried rice options to choose from, which adds some variety to the menu. Seating is limited, so it's better suited for takeout or a quick meal. Overall, a serviceable spot that satisfies a Thai food craving when in a pinch, but not one that feels especially memorable.

Presentation of the food, actually looked great! Server was helpful. Potentially could have better flavor on other dishes, but I'd still think 32 for one entree is pretty pricey.
