Well the inside is showing some age. The food was great and the service was fast. Nonproblem coming back here. Philly was great!! See our YouTube channel Coolest Life.

What others have said - this is a super solid spot for Philly Cheesesteak. Best I've found in Sac so far, just wish it was closer to home (prob better for my waistline). I placed an order for pick-up a few weeks back. Phat Jerry's is just off the Watt Ave / 80 Exit, located in a small plaza with a Starbucks and Fried Chicken spot. Parking was easy and staff was friendly with quick service. Inside was clean with plenty of seating. My Philly was PHAT indeed, I got the Super Philly Cheesesteak, their original 10" cheesesteak with 50% more cheese and steak. It comes with onions, sweet and hot peppers. I also added green peppers. For about $15 it was well worth the price for the amount of food. I split this was a friend and we were both completely full. It stayed warm on the ride home too. Already wanting to go back!

Philly Cheesesteak fries from the food truck

There aren't a lot of options for Philly cheesesteak in Elk Grove so when I saw their food truck at the weekly food truck Friday event at the park near our house, we decided to try it out. The guy calling out orders was interesting. He yelled out my name and I had to put down my drink in my stroller and walk over, I wasn't even that far but he kept yelling out my name over and over without any breaks or actually looking to see who was walking towards the truck. It was actually kind of embarrassing as if I wasn't listening or taking forever to come over, but I was already walking over. That whole situation was off putting. We ordered the philly cheesesteak fries, which came out to $18, definitely expected as standard food truck pricing. It was a good amount of meat on the mound of fries though. I wish they were different fries, as I'm not a huge fan of crinkle fries, just makes me think they were reheated from a frozen bag. Loved the onions and peppers on it though, they were nicely cooked and tender. But I really dislike nacho cheese and I think it's a cop out way to put cheese on something - if you're gonna be cooking the meat anyway, it would taste ten times better if it just had real melted cheese on top! Cheese is in the name of the product and I think it deserves the real stuff.

So I ordered the Super Philly, overall they got some good tasting food. Cheesesteak came out hot and fresh and tasted great. Bread was soft and the flavor was good. The garlic fries were crispy and packed with garlic and I'm not even a huge fan of steak fries. My only gripes were that I thought it'd be more cheesy for having "extra cheese" and the sandwich looked more like a 7 inch than the 10 inch that it said the Super Philly is supposed to be. Other than that though I was pleased with their food.

    Burnt fries!!
    Amy B.

We have been coming here for years. Always the best. We love it!! Not tonight. Burnt dry cold fries that cost over $4. Burnt meat like it had been cooked on a very dirty grill from a busy Friday that had not been cleaned at all in between rushes, and on a soggy roll. Literally the worst ever. I don't know if it has anything to do with ordering near closing time when I got off work, but either way super disappointing!!! What a waste of hard earned $21.10!!!

Onion rings. Not good, too crunchy/greasy and not enough actual onion. Probably just overcooked.

What are the "new" hours? I've come here on 7 different occasions and they are always closed even though the hours were updated within the past 3 months. This is absurd!

Do they make a thanksgiving sandwich?

Not that I am aware of.

This time we order a cranberry turkey (my mother's favorite sandwich) and a Reuben. The Reuben was nothing special. It didn't have any tang or bite. I ordered it on a sourdough roll because my first time here I was disappointed by the sourdough and had high hopes for it which were once again dashed. When you have the word sourdough in your name it better be great bread. This bread was not great. My mother's turkey cranberry was good but she said she's had much better. She had the same complaint about the sourdough. I don't know if we are getting there at the wrong time or what but we just aren't getting fresh tasting sourdough with any bite. Occasionally, we have all received the wrong order, preparation or incorrect pickup time. Granted, it's not fun when it's your order. But this can happen anywhere - from wrong sandwich to improperly cooked steak. Luckily, I have not had that experience at WCS. In fact, I sometimes ask myself why I don't order from here more often. I LOVE that WCS has many options for cheese - seven (American, Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Pepperjack, Mozzarella and Provolone. I love Monterey Jack on my Turkey sandwich. Not many other sandwich spots offer that. Additionally, as someone who hates pickles with a passion, I don't get pickle juice in my bread because you have to REQUEST pickles. Finally, the sandwiches are tasty. The cookies here are huge and tasty. My favorite is the chocolate chip. I usually eat it over multiple days due to the size. I recommend trying. You can get a roll or sliced bread. I like both.

La Porta Came here…read moreon a Saturday for a friend's birthday with a large group of 17, and we didn't have reservations--so we knew it might be a bit of a challenge. At the time, they had one cook and a manager who was also acting as the bartender and server for the whole floor. You could tell he was a little nervous at first with such a big party, but honestly, he handled it really well. He was friendly, energetic, and super transparent about what they were out of since everything is made fresh. He also did a great job explaining the dishes and cocktails, which we appreciated. Our group was pretty easygoing, and overall the experience felt fun and relaxed. The food came out looking (and tasting) amazing across the board. I ordered the gluten-free hot honey pizza, and it was a standout--perfect crust, nice balance of sweet and heat, and loaded with cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. Definitely a win. One of my friends also ordered gluten-free and tried the pesto chicken pizza. Unfortunately, that one missed the mark--the chicken was overcooked, the pesto flavor was off, and the pizza itself was a bit bland. However, when she mentioned it, the server immediately made it right by remaking her pizza and not charging for it, which we really appreciated. The space itself has a great vibe--cute aesthetics and it sounds like they host events during the week like DJs and art nights, which is a fun touch. Parking can be a little tricky since it's on a busy intersection, but manageable. Overall, a really solid experience, especially considering our group size and no reservation. I'd definitely come back and would love to see gluten-free pasta options added in the future!

It was fun trying somewhere new as we usually go to our favorites. For the past several years we've been going to Scott's for celebrations, but that has gotten old so thankfully we found somewhere new and loved it. I highly reccomend this restaurant. The ambiance is spectacular. If you can get one of the side tables under the overhang with the wine bottle chandelier you'll love it. Here's what we ordered: Borscht with Beef: Traditional red soup made with beets, beef, garden vegetables topped with sour cream- To me it didn't look appetizing, but it's a traditional dish so we split a cup. We didn't have much hope that would be edible. We were blown away trying it. It was actually good. We were shocked. It was so good. It was filled with pieces of tomatoes and beets and huge tender chucks of beef. Spinach Blini-Gluten free, vegetarian, 6 blintzes filled with spinach and creamy white sauce. We really enjoyed these Spinach Blini. They were very rich. I could only eat two to them and took the third one with me to share with my husband. He really liked it and wish there was more. I really wanted to get the Cherry Blini, but we were too full even though we shared an entree. I'm so disappointed as they looked so good. We needed a couple more people at our table so we could have tried more dishes and eaten everything family style. Beef Stew-Tender chunks of beef meat, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms and this good things stewed in perfectly hearty cheese gravy baked in clay pot and served with tortilla on top. We split this dish and it was the perfect amount for us. It was really good. The chunks of potatoes and meat were huge, the mushrooms were firm, and the flavor was really tasty.

That all you can eat is about $17 We also got a surf and turf kind of plate that was so good put it this way I was so full. I could not finish food. I was really bummed out that they did not have the baked potato in the salad bar because of that alone I was gonna drop this entire place a couple stars I explained to Cesar that I was asking where the baked potatoes were, and he explained about the fact that they did not have it for the salad bar I was able to order mine quickly and have it back and it was delicious I really wish I could have some broccoli on top of a baked potato. I don't know if anybody remembers the old Carl's Jr.. They used to have an old Ca-Sacramento and you could just like totally do your baked potato. It was amazing. So back to the food the shrimp was so good. The fish tasted well. I wasn't a big fan of the tartar sauce, but that's just me. My husband liked it. My salad was great. There's a lot of different kinds of salads you can choose from. The crab salad was really good not overly done They did have spaghetti for kids and chicken nuggets and stuff. I wish they had a little bit more variety to be honest with you. Like I said, the whole place being well opened and well lit and comfortable to enjoy your company and have a conversation without being in somebody else else's conversation was really nice The food did not take long to come out I was really bummed that they didn't have the BARQ root beer lol if you know, you know!
