    French Dip Sandwich
    Aimee Y.

Restaurants win when their people make you happy before you've read the menu! The minute we walked in, we were greeted by three super nice smiling ladies. We asked what their personal favorites were and they fessed up to enjoying their own French dips before we came in. Cool. We are always down for a delish French Dip. Drives me crazy when there's no horseradish available though. After a nod to horseradish, we ordered a couple French Dip sandwiches and two different side salads to try out. The sandwiches were filled to the brim with tender lean meat. They don't short you on ingredients here. Their horseradish is the real deal too and not a wimpy sauce. Our dill potato salad was incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed a yummy broccoli salad loaded with cranberries and sunflower seeds. There's beer on tap, not a giant selection but a great one for all types of beer lovers. (Love me some Space Dust!) Although I never hold a place responsible for my dietary requirements, I do have to say that the delicious food leaned on the salty side which I am supposed to stay away from. My taste buds love it, my heart can't handle it. Next time I'm trying the turkey avacado which looked amazing. The theme is local sports with framed Kings jerseys on the walls and sports on a large screen in the dining room. When we walked in, it was empty and by the time we left, you could tell it was full of locals because they all seemed to know each other. Overall worth a stop if you are near. Great tasting grub. Excellent service.

We really enjoyed our experience here for a Friday lunch!…read more The restaurant is spacious, contemporary, & bright with a wall of windows that have effective shades. There are tables with chairs & bench seating. All the seating is cushioned. Art is on the wall, as well as a TV that had sports on. Mellow pop music plays in the background. We were greeted & seated as soon as we arrived. We received nice hospitality throughout our meal. Our friendly server was attentive, invited questions, checked in on us, cleared plates quickly, kept our water filled, & chatted with us. Lunch is within the timeframe for happy hour pricing for some items. Our eats-- BBQ Albacore--presented as slices versus chunks, flavorful with a nice sauce Salmon Teriyaki Bento--a lot of tasty food, every component was yummy, the salmon was a nice, thick piece that was cooked well Hot Snow White Roll--the mister really enjoyed this & said it was so close to being a perfect roll for him, but the fried jalapeños felt like they sat around & weren't freshly crisp Volcano Roll--a massive roll that was hearty & spicy, a little over sauced on some pieces, you have to finesse eating this one & negotiate it's big pieces, (personally wouldn't get again) Double Toro Roll--SO deliciously unctuous, ranks highly in my top rolls because I loves me some fatty fish, the freshness of the greens & pickled wasabi added brightness A couple of things really stood out. The dishware was beautiful & made the meal feel more special. The workers kept the place clean, tidying & organizing when they had opportunity. I would HAPPILY come back here to eat!

My husband got the Thai soup, which he thought would be different. I liked how the waitress kept asking if we wanted more broth. I love drinking a lot of broth, so I assumed it was unlimited. I think the burner keeping our pot boiling may have turned off, because I ran out of soup and she never came back to ask if I wanted more broth. A table behind my husband, who arrived after us, kept getting asked if they wanted more broth. At one point, we made eye contact, but she didn't come back to check on our table, so we just asked for a to-go container since we don't like wasting food. Luckily, another waiter noticed my bowl without broth and asked if I wanted more, and I said yes. If we were to come back, we would probably try a different soup other than Thai but I would order the cheesy milk again.

Sometimes this spells out trouble because I want to order the whole menu instead of a sensible amount of food. On my latest visit I ordered takeout and got the Tom Kha Soup with tofu ($13.50), Green Curry with tofu ($13.50), Kao Soy ($13.50), House Chow Fun with tofu ($13.50), Thai Tea ($4.50), and Thai Iced Coffee ($4.50). It was a lot of food, but I've learned House of Thai Rice & Noodle is best enjoyed family style where you get to enjoy a few things. The pricing is very reasonable for the portions and the flavor on the dishes is so good! I don't know what they do with their Chow Fun, but the noodles were so flavorful, soft and fluffy and didn't need any extra sauce. The Tom Kha soup is a comfort food for me and this is always a great option. I forgot to order rice with my curry, but eating it like a soup is equally satisfying. The Kao Soy was flavorful and the noodles were great with the broth and toppings. I've dined in and gotten take out and both are great experiences. The team here is so friendly and welcoming. When I order takeout, I typically order at the restaurant and wait and they always have me sit at a table and offer water or another drink while I wait. I do love dining in because the dishes are at their freshest and it makes for better photos. The dining are has plenty of seats and it comfortable. The plaza also has plenty of parking, but the spots nearest to the restaurant tend to fill up. If you're thinking about stopping here, try it, you won't be disappointed!

I've tried a lot of spots around here since I work nearby, and this has been on my list for a while because of how highly it's regarded. It was busy at lunchtime, but we were seated immediately and brought iced waters. The menu is huge with a lot of great classic options. We ordered the angel wings (personal favorite), pad see ew with fried tofu, and red curry with fried tofu and rice. Everything came out very quickly and was nicely plated. The curry had a great mix of vegetables, always love the tender eggplant the most, and it was rich, but not overly heavy, with great flavor. The pad see ew was also delicious, smokey, and had a nice mix of cabbage and broccoli, which I've never seen before but actually really liked. It was nice getting something other than just straight noodles. Angel wings are a longtime favorite and brought me right back to childhood dinners at Thai restaurants with my family. Not every spot has them, so I had to order them when I saw them on the menu. They were delicious, just how I remembered, and plated nicely with a light, flavorful sauce. The food overall was excellent and service was attentive. My only note is I should've asked for spice. I think they assumed we didn't want any heat, which is probably typical for most people, but I definitely prefer some spice in my Thai food and I appreciate when they ask. We were also two people at a six-person table since that's all that was available, so felt a little bad about that. Toward the end, they sat a single diner with us, which was a bit awkward to be honest, but luckily we were finishing up. Overall really good experience. Just remember to ask for spice if you want it, and maybe consider takeout if it's busy and don't want to share a table.

I've been to plenty of places around California, and while I'm not entirely sure what the best of the best is or what sets a high bar, I can say that this place is very solid compared to everything I've tried. Their rice plates are also really good, along with their nước chấm fish sauce, which is tasty as well. The service is just okay, nothing amazing, and the bathrooms could be a bit cleaner. That said, they did renovate the inside -- it used to be pretty boring, but they cleaned it up and remodeled it really well with a lot more decorations and seating. No complaints if you just want a solid place for pho when you're sick, hungover, or just craving it -- this place is a good go-to. The biggest red flag, however, is their chicken wings, which I highly do not recommend. As you can see in the photo, they're heavily battered and have pretty much zero flavor. For me, I've always stuck with just their pho, soups, and rice plates, which have always been good. Warning: do not try their chicken wings.
