Came in for routine bloodwork and WOW, it was like a DMV. It was busier this time around! If you're thinking of walking in, DON'T because you'll be waiting 1-2 hours. Make an appointment. Seriously. Luckily, I did, like the responsible adult that I am. Desiree was a gem! She was professional and so good with the needle that I barely felt a thing. I can't stand the sight of needles and blood but bless her heart she made the experience painless and stress-free! Pro Tips: Get the Quest app--book ahead of time and results come back fast, usually within a day. Blood work was excellent per usual!! Thanks healthy vegan diet and lifestyle! :)) Plenty of parking, so at least you won't have to stress about that. The waiting area? Tiny. No windows. No ventilation. An ideal Covid breathing ground!! Also don't forget to check-in using their kiosk system. Saves you time! The room itself will make you claustrophobic. Overall, if you plan ahead and book an appointment, the experience isn't too bad. They'll get you in and out quick. If not... well, bring entertainment and a strong immune system. Good luck! 3.5 stars!

Overall, a pleasant experience!…read more New year and Covid-19 is still amongst us. I've been fortunate to not been hit with the virus or gotten really sick these past 2 years. As flu season hits, you never really know if what you have is Covid-related or the seasonal flu. Symptoms are alike and I started to feel under the weather with a sore throat, fever, and fatigue. I was very concerned and even though I've been vaccinated with a booster there is still a chance I can get infected, especially with the new variant, Omicron which is most contagious. It was difficult trying to find an available PCR Covid-19 test in the community and I was getting frustrated. Fortunately, my friend recommended CovX Labs. The process was easy and stress-free. You can pre-register online and book your appointment at any of the San Diego locations. The closest location from me was in Poway and the building was easy to find. They have their office sign visible up front and plenty of parking available. They also take walk-ins, but I recommend booking ahead of time. They offer a discount code when you schedule online, which I took advantage of. I was the first one there when I arrived. Lucky me! Unfortunately, they didn't look prepared to work. I saw them unpacking boxes inside and nobody was up front to assist me. I finally had to flag down an employee as I waited outside. He asked me if I made an appt. and pre-registered. I said yes, but he couldn't locate me in their system. Doh! He was still able to assist and I had to fill out some basic information on his iPad. They also accept insurance, but I paid out of pocket. He ended up giving me the uncomfortable swab test. My first one! It was quick and not as bad as I thought. He was quite gentle, which I appreciated. An emailed payment receipt is sent to you and he informed me that my results should come in before the end of the day. I liked how you can get same day results and they made sure to provide that for me as promised. I received two emails afterwards that my sample was being processed and they provided a token number that I would need to access my results. The second and final email was a pdf file of my results. I was able to save the document for my records. They also have a YouTube video tutorial of the whole process, which I highly recommend watching. Thanks CovX Labs for the positive experience! This will be my go-to testing site, but I hope I'll never had to go through that again. Crossing my fingers I won't need to. FYI: I'm negative!! HALLELUJAH!!

Not a lot to say. At the moment, finding covid test appointments is hard in San Diego. Overall,…read moreCovX labs was a pleasant experience. As someone pointed out, getting an appointment online doesn't actually speed up the process - you still wait in line along with the walk-ups. However, if you pay online you can use the coupon code and save some money if you're going for one of the upgraded options or not using insurance. For me, I just walked up at 9AM - there was 4 people in front of me, and I left at 9:25ish. Seemed reasonable. The person doing the swabs was very gentle and efficient. No problems there. The companies definition of "same day results" is a little dubious - 12:20AM the next day is a stretch but close enough I'm not worried about it. Website was kinda iffy though - took like 3 minutes to finish loading after submitting the screening form.

While tradition HIV testing like the Rapid Test detects HIV by detecting antibodies, the Early Test detects infection by detecting the virus. One can get both tests performed and both are FREE. Results of the standard Rapid Test will be given within 15 minutes while the Early Test results will take two weeks. The doctor will provide a personalized ID number along with a date to check for the results online (https://theearlytest.ucsd.edu/The_Early_Test/Results_of_The_Early_Test_HIV_Antibody_%26_HIV_Viral_Load_Testing_in_San_Diego,_California.html ) or by phone. For HIV testing at this site, I find it best to make an appointment. Find parking on the street; there's usually plenty within a three block radius on Park Blvd. Lead The Way is hard to miss, it's literally across from the Crypt (http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-crypt-san-diego-2#hrid:If-S8-HYtS143l9lASWtqQ/src:self ). Lead The Way is very different from the two other places I've been to get tested before (http://www.yelp.com/biz/ucsd-antiviral-research-center-san-diego#hrid:4JuCu7uiyaw-lTRY70QAuQ/src:self ). When they say they're trying to banish the sigma of HIV testing, they mean it. It's an intensely relax atmosphere. The decor is modern and definitely sets the mood they're going for. There's one computer station to surf the internet while waiting. I got in right away with my appointment and the whole thing took 30 minutes. After explaining the consent forms and procedure, they pricked my finger for the rapid test. The results are faster than the mouth swap by 10-20 minutes. During the 10-15 minutes waiting time for the results, the worker asked me further questions about my sexual practices and explained things if I needed it. It wasn't my first time at the rodeo, so I didn't really need much explanation. Then, I got my rapid results and was taken into a room to get my blood drawn for the Early Test. Done and done. PS Note that there are limits to every test and know what the results are telling you. While the Early Test detects recent infection well, the Rapid Test detects a wider time frame. It's important to pick the appropriate test for your possible exposure time frame. I like to do both for the overlap.

I was referred to Nourish by a friend. I browsed their web site and read over the 'Providers and…read moreStaff' bios to try and decide which doctor I wanted to see based on my needs. Honestly, it was a bit of a shot in the dark. Prices of visits vary depending on who you see. I called to make an appointment, and was disappointed to find out it was about 3 months before I could get in. I was called and offered an earlier appointment when someone else cancelled, but I couldn't make it, so I stuck with my original appointment time. The front desk staff were always pleasant when I interacted with them. You have the option to visit in person or through an on-line virtual video visit. For my first visit, I decided to go in-person as I wanted to make a connection with the doctor and for her to really "see me". The office is very clean, modern and upscale, although not 'cold and clinical'. The decor colors are welcoming and serene. There is a waiting room and then you're called back to your doctor's office and you walk through a common area with a large table. There's a small restroom and a phlebotomist's room. I left after my first visit (which was about an hour) with my head spinning slightly as I felt like I had some 'homework' to do before my next visit. This included downloading an app, through which to order supplements and ordering said supplements. Organizing getting bloodwork (which, after some research turned out to be less expensive through a 3rd party lab, not through the Nourish phlebotomist), ordering a prescription through a compound pharmacy and purchasing and utilizing a continual glucose monitor through another retail outlet. While wearing the monitor, I had to enter any food consumed and any exercise activity into the glucose monitor app. Communication with your Nourish doctor is done through a 'patient portal'. Any messages I sent were usually answered within a couple of days. I also called the front desk a few times with questions. For my second visit, I chose the convenience of meeting virtually on-line to save the commute time. This visit was about 40 minutes, done through the portal. The doctor I chose was professional, knowledgeable and pleasant, but not particularly warm and bubbly. She didn't smile much. Not a lot of pleasantries like , 'How was your summer?' or 'How was the drive here?' or whatever, just strictly down to business. That's OK, but I like a little bit more of a friendlier/interactive bedside manner. Between two visits, some bloodwork (outside my provider network), several supplements, a compound pharmacy prescription and mail delivery, plus purchasing a glucose monitor, (also out of my provider network), I spent just over $1,100. After my second visit, it kind of occurred to me that the operation relies a little heavily on the recommendation of supplements which you order through a portal they suggest -- obviously they make a commission. (I was told by the front desk to 'Not order through Amazon'!) I didn't feel like the first set of supplements had done much, so I decided not to order the second set that was suggested. I felt I was given very minimal nutritional advice. I'm glad I gave Nourish and naturopathy a try and I was pleased that I was tested/monitored for things that my regular medical provider wouldn't bother testing for, however, ultimately I didn't feel like it solved much for me. There is free on-site parking.
