Glass is dirty inside of my hurricane windows from Suction Cup lifters and PGT black caulk. No way to clean it now after installation.

PGT sliding doors look good, but performance hasn't held up. I've needed multiple adjustments in under two years just to keep them operating properly. More concerning, insects are getting in under the main door (not just the screen), likely due to large weep openings and poor bottom sealing. The interior track regularly fills with bugs and debris, and some window hardware is already showing corrosion. For a premium product, this is disappointing. read more

replaced my windows years I thought that I'd be good and I never expected to have any problems. Most of the windows I had put in the rubber seals inside the glass are all sagging in between the two panes of glass. I don't know if this is something that but when I went to try to get it fixed, it was gonna cost me a couple thousand dollars to replace the glass because it was a prorated warranty. I couldn't afford it at the time so these years with windows with sagging rubber in between the glass. I wouldn't recommend these windows. The qualities is very poor. read more

We purchased a resale home and noticed that a seal in one of the PGT windows went bad. It's completely fogged! I reached out to their warranty company immediately to try and have it replaced. For what you pay for these windows and the size of their company that manufacturer impact glass, they ought to replace it, but instead they refused to replace the window stating that we were not the original owner and therefore it's not covered under warranty. Really? Had the owner reached out prior to us purchasing the home they would have had to replace it, but now they don't have to do anything. Bad business for PGT. The seal around the window on the outside is curling off all four windows and sliding door. PGT Venice sent the installers the replacement seal but I had to pay $600. to have them replaced. The exterior seal only lasted 2 yrs. This is a manufactures default. The windows are hurricane rated and supposed to be the best you can buy. They were extremely expensive, you would expect better quality. I will report this to the BBB and the States Attorney's office. read more

We had PGT double hung windows installed throughout our house in 2011. Recently one of them cracked during a cold snap. Our warranty has lifetime breakage / replacement but the company that installed our windows is no longer an installer and PGT won't replace our window without us going through an active PGT installer, and there are none in our area. Very poorly designed product: I had three sets of sliding doors installed, and besides mediocre esthetics, the doors had to be adjusted numerous times, because they get out of balance, don't open, don't close , difficult to operate. To make mattes worse, there are too many opening on the bottom, supposedly for them to breathe - it allows water, dust, debris, insects to enter the house. it's impressive how well PGT markets this product , considering how inferior it is to other doors. read more

I purchased PGT windows and a sliding glass door every window had to be replaced or repaired and the sliding glass door I had to refuse, these windows and door looked like they were purchased from a reject store and that they were constructed by a 6 grade shop class, from scratched glass to separation on the frames to missing glass beading just total junk they were definitely built by unskilled labor. PGT did repair or replaced everything in a timely manner with satisfactory not great product all their workers that came to my home were Mexican or central south america so communication was poor at best. I was very disappointed with this company and hope these windows and door last and they back up their warranty if ever needed, there are several other options out there I would not recommend this company. read more

I had a horrible experience with Home Depot Tampa with PGT window installation. For anyone looking for window replacements in Florida, we have many options, and I agree, prices vary by $100,000, with Anderson being the most expensive. Home Depot was not the cheapest, but not the highest, and seemed like a great choice with PGT windows. After spending $70,000 in August (HD requires you to pay up front), we are still waiting for the job to be complete in March. PGT and HD continue to blame each other for wrong parts, missing parts, etc. The portion of the job that was completed failed inspection and had to be redone. The contractors hired have not been the issue; it's the missing parts, wrong items ordered, and even some items we paid for but were not even ordered until the day of job they realized were not here. So here I sit, another day having to work from home with hammering and dust all around because all the window work orders are completed during the week, and someone must be present. Maybe Lowes or Weathertite would have been a better choice to save my sanity. read more

We recently purchased a six year old home in Dell Webb at Lakewood Ranch. What we thought were dirty windows turned out to be seals that are shot on the triple slider. We called PGT and we're informed that only the original owner would be covered. That makes absolutely no sense. It is not likely that an owner in a 55+ community broke the sliders. One star is TOO much for PGT windows & doors! We've had an on going problem with fogging since year one of installation. The same thing happens each year. They come out and replace the glass. But the same problem occurs several months later! Obviously it's NOT the seals! Now they want us to start paying for labor! Are they crazy? 6 months for one window and it's still not here. Now I'm being told mid-April. What confidence do I have that it'll be here at that time? NONE. I understand Covid has caused issues but I don't think that's the problem. The problem, since they've given no other reasonable or for that matter ANY explanation, is it's one window (even though I ordered 25 windows from them in the past without issue) what that tells me is I'm not a priority for them now. When you call customer affairs you hold for 1/2 an hour while their automation tells you your space in line, then when it's your turn it says their system is down and they cannot process your call and hangs up - a huge waste of time. Their Facebook page says they're in the 101 best home Improvement companies in Florida. Well if they truly are and they're not just bragging then that is a sad states of affairs for Florida. If they're one of the best that must mean the majority of businesses are abysmal! In 2020 after the rest of my windows were installed I would've rated them a 5. If we only knew. We purchased 8 windows and 2 sliding doors and the doors are useless. We replaced the original doors that were over 35 years old. In the 30+ years we have owned this house we never had a problem with lizards and other critters making their way between the glass and screen doors. Now with these new doors it has become a common occurrence. We cannot open these doors for fear of what may come in. We have spoken and written to PGT with no success in resolving our problem. Even writing to their president and chairman has accomplished nothing, not even an acknowledgement of our email. These doors may be storm proof, but not critter proof and PGT has done nothing to fix this known problem. Look somewhere else if you want to use your doors and not just look out them. read more

I had PGT impact windows and sliders suggested by the installing company. I did not research myself.I would NOT recommend their products ,(or my installer-hopefully you can learn from my mistake.) 2 sections of the door came scratched which I did not see until installed. Once product installed, owner must deal directly with company. I dealt with one guy until he either quit or was fired, then had to start over.They brought I door out for replacement, it was the wrong size. I bought two large slides from PGT. One 9' and one 12'. First, the installers were not installing properly; they appeared to not know what they were doing. They put NOTHING between the wood frame and the doors, no flashing or anything. My husband noticed and demanded they stop and put flashing on bottom. They put no sheathing or any other covering on the bottom, top or sides. From there we learned that these patio doors let water into your house! PGT told me that They are actually DESIGNED to allow water into your home. How crazy is that? Water comes in and onto my hardwood floor! Their solution? Put risers up on the inside so you have to step over this thing, but again, it is not water proof, just a thing to try to keep water from overflowing quickly so most of it can flow back outside! What a joke! This is the ABSOLUTE worse design anyone could have come up with. Just tell me, why would you design a patio door to allow water to go into the house? They need to make this VERY CLEAR when they are selling these things!!!! I now have to figure out how to come up with $20,000 to replace these stupid patio doors. I order 12 PGT windows thru Weather Tite. The last 3 windows being replaced was a triple window. Weather Tite indicated that they ordered the correct size but PGT suppled the wrong size. Would be zero stars if I could. Order of 13 high impact windows took 15 weeks to be manufactured. One of the windows was produced in the wrong size. I'm told by the window vendor/installer that it will be another 8-10 weeks to produce the correction. In the meantime my house is torn up to allow inspector access to the installation (which, of course can't be done until all windows are in). Seems like a shady way to do business -- why isn't your mistake moved to the front of the queue so I can get this job done? read more

Don't buy PGT windows. Parts of the locking mechanism rust within a year but because it's a "naturally occurring process" PGT exclude it from their warranty. Just totally unacceptable to see rust so quickly in all the new impact windows. read more

Don't buy these windows!! We bought a 8 unit in Rotonda West Fl. 2019 which was built in 2006. All the window had problems opening or closing . We called the company and they told us because we're not the original owner they wouldn't guarantee the windows and they discontinued making the windows we have. At our expense we had to have all the windows repaired. Then we bought another 6 units 10 min away in 2020 build in 2004 again all the windows needed to be repaired. The windows wouldn't open or wouldn't stay open and the tenants had soup cans holding them open. Again we had to fix them at our cost. In 2018 we got replaced all 10 windows at our home to impact dual pane glass with Vinyl window frames made by CGI/ PGT windows, sold & installed by Lowes Home Improvement. Installers did a great & clean job in timely manner and was pleased to note there are no leaks compared to some of complaints I heard from other people. Only major complaint I have with these windows is that with within a year couple windows opening was slightly tighter than others, I called Lowes customer service who mentioned to me that since windows are still new and takes some time to loosen and to open & close frequently and I left it alone. after about two years suddenly one window got stuck and could not even open again called Lowes and since at that time we were going through Covid Pandemic was difficult to get someone over phone and even store had limited staff and different managers but then they referred me to contact PGT since their warranty was for a year... I called PGT same thing even they said their warranty was for a year and they provided me with 4 contacts of their authorized window repair centers and was told that I will be responsible to pay for labor to repair, I called repair shops one was out of service and two were out of my area range last one wanted $200+ per window to examine since by this time I had 3 windows in a row that did not open and recently one of large window suddenly dropped, I almost injured my hand while cleaning frame. Meanwhile, I noticed reason why windows are failing due to a cheap plastic clip that hold window spring inside their frame that is brittle and snaps, have four some plastic pieces that came out from frame. Bottom line is they are using inferior plastic part in these expensive windows and are not willing to responsibility. Now I learned from one of Lowes installers that Lowes have stopped selling these windows due to frequent complaint about same problem. Have filled complaint with BBB, finally PGT sent email to BBB promising that I will hear from someone within 24 hours to resolve my issue, but no one have approached me in last 20+ days since complaint filed just empty promises... I would not recommend anyone to use Vinyl windows due to cheap parts that fail... original windows that came with house 26 years back never had any problem and now in 4 years 4 of windows have failed.... read more

I have purchased 5 double panel hurricane sliding glass doors through a contractor that are PGT. They are poorly constructed, the coating is so thin you actually seen the underlay. One door is even coming apart. Repeated calls went unanswered and I received one email from the complaint dept. saying I should contact the contractor. We had all the windows in our 1970 Fl Ranch house replaced with Pgt Windows. We went with a installer that was referred from PGT. Better than excellent service very professional and a fair price considering it was in the middle of the pandemic. We have pets they worked with us to insure everyone was happy and there were no mishaps. Now after living with the windows for almost three years and a Hurricane later, I feel I can write a review. The windows have held up and preformed beautifully. I have one and only one complaint. If you are someone who enjoys fresh air and opens your windows frequently I would avoid their single hung windows at all cost! They are extremely difficult to open. I am a sixty your old man that works out regularly in the gym and it is all I can do to lift the window open. Not sure how this is going to work out as my wife and I age. it seems they need to improve their counter balance system. I have spoken with them and they tell me it is the nature of impact windows. If you are not someone that opens your windows then I highly recommend PGT. If not you enjoy fresh air than i would seek out another solution... read more

PGT Windows, South Windows and all subsidiaries should be shut down and investigated for fraudulent business practices and service. I am over two years without completion of my window project with a permit still waiting sign off. Called day before appointment to confirm my 11:00am appointment that was scheduled months prior; was told all set to go. Then at 9:00 am day of appointment answered call from a hot shot corporate guy telling me there was nothing they could do about gaskets missing from in between glass (5 widows with gasket - 2 windows without) and screen replacement. Asked him yes or no are they coming out today he said he'd call me back. Hour later no call back. I called them. This time I was directed to a different hot shot who placated me by telling me the guy had to go get screening because they don't carry that in there shop. Well the "guy" was the person who took pictures of the screen when he was here the month before. A whole month and they are just picking up screening day of appointment? Now 11:30 no call, no guy showed up. This has been happening since the installation. Yes, I am paid in full as they put a lien on my house. In order to get a bank loan I had to pay in full before they would remove the lien. I specifically mentioned to the sales reps that I was in process of getting a loan when I signed. He mentioned nothing about a lien. They had me over a barrel. Horrible company to do business with. Run as fast as you can and do not stop! read more

Then when my contractor here in Clearwater Fl tries to get the representative to come by an see the issues regarding fit, finish, and NOTHING related to installation, it is taking months! 11/27/23 On 4/11/22 we ordered new windows and doors with Home Depot and as of today the job has not been completed. The installation started 9/16, 2022 and we were advised it would be for the next 3-days. I was then informed the installation on the 17th and 18th would need to be rescheduled for the following week. After that part of installation was completed, there was noticeable scratches on frame as seen in the pictures and substance in the middle of the glass panels. The sliders for the living room were measured incorrectly and were not installed at that time. I received a call on September 26th telling me that they wouldn't be able to complete the installation till the first week of December. I requested to speak with a manager and as of today, I haven't heard from anyone. This was the second attempt I've made this request. We have had all our window treatment down in the living room for 8-months now. The first week of December they came out to install the living room sliders 3-of the 4-doors have scratches on them. They wanted to use the lintel between the sliding doors and the windows above after I had already paid for a new one it's not even to same color. The replacement family room sliders had scratches on them, the screen door for the master bedroom was the wrong size for the second time and they didn't have the 2- replacement windows. I received a call from Jay Arnold on December 8th. He didn't even know what was going on with all the issues. He had told me in September that they were going to replace 2-windows with scratches on them, the 4-slders in the family room that substance in the middle of the glass panels, the broken screen in the master closet. He told me on the September 8th he would follow-up with me I never heard back from him. I have called Gregory Humphrey the Sales Manager with Home Depot several times with no call back also. On 2/23/23 installers came to complete the install they had the wrong transom windows and none of the other items. In March Alfredo Lopez came out to the house and told us he was the guy that was going to fix everything I haven't heard anything from him since. On 5/18/23 Home Depot was scheduled to complete the installation they called me on 5/17/23 and canceled the installation telling me there were impurities in the glass. Alisa B. The Home Depot Executive Escalations Specialist sent an email on 5/18/23 saying someone would be reaching out with a date to complete the installation as of today I haven't heard from anyone. On 7/24/23 Home Depot was scheduled to complete the installation of the transom windows were installed, and all 8-sliding doors were bad and not replaced. On 9/19/23 some scratched windows were replaced all 8-sliding doors were bad and not replaced. On 10/12/23 Jay Arnold and Santo Pagan from PGT came to my house it was rain and dark out. After reviewing the issues Santo told me that he was only going to replace 2-out of the 4-family room slides and 1-out of the 4-living Slides. Both Jay and Alfredo had told me they would be replacing all of them. They have tried 5-times but the ones they sent were worse than the ones I already have. Santo said he could see the substance in the middle of the glass panels but wasn't going replace them when the sun is shine in there lot more noticeable. All the plastic handles on the screens are breaking off Santo told me that just the way they are and said that problem is above his pay grade. This unacceptable Home already has been paid in full. Santo also told me that someone from quality control would be reaching out to me from PGT. It's been crickets. This is not the customer service I expect from Home Depot. I would have thought someone from their Senior management team would have reached out to me by now. read more

PGT is the worst! We purchased 3 sliders through one of their distributors (Karoly) and 1 of the sliders is totally fogged up every morning. It took multiple calls and emails for them to finally send out a rep to look at the issue. Someone was supposed to follow up with me and never did. Karoly was finally able to get a response from them and they say the fogging is normal. I have no issue with their distributor but PGT apparently is notoriously difficult to deal with so if buying through a distributor be sure and ask who the manufacturer is. read more

Wow! I had not read these posting before. They confirm what I have been experiencing with PGT backing up their product and the design. Bottom line - - do not buy PGT windows. While my doors are 15 years old, the design requires a massive undertaking to replace a seal. I contacted PGT and they had me contact their distributor. Distributor told me that they had the seal, however, to replace it required that the French doors be taken out including the frame. This required breaking the stucco surrounding the door frame and taking the door frame apart. Once the work would be completed each door would need to be reinstalled, the stucco refinished and painted. I was told the cost would be several thousand dollars per French door. This is ridiculous. How could PGT design a door that has a seal that requires the entire door to be taken out and disassembled? What a horrible design (BTW - - they still use this design). I then contacted PGT again (via email and phone) on numerous occasions and they will brushed me off and now will not respond. Bottom line, my doors are not lasting and I will need to change them. For sure, I will not replace with PGT (or other names they own)! read more
