If you don't have the answers she wants right then, she cuts the call. I went to the showroom to get a quote on a Lanai Door. Roman the salesman showed me some options and I chose 1 door which he emalied me a quote that afternoon. The following day I went to the showroom to give a deposit but wanted to make sure the door he quoted was indeed the door I really wanted. Upon entering the showroom Roman approached me and when I told him I wanted to look at the other doors again he became very rude. Saying I showed you all these yesterday. You took pictures to show your husband. His demeanor and his tone was very very rude while he was showing the other doors again. He made me feel very uncomfortable the way he was talking to me. I for one think it's my right as a customer to be sure what you are ordering is in fact what you want. You should be allowed to go into the showroom to look at the products as many times as you want and not feel as if you being treated like your stupid or forgetful at what you are placing an order for. Ultimately you are the paying customer and salesman should treat you with respect. Not be unprofessional and rude as I was treated. read more

Initial service on installing 3 storm shutters on my sliding glass doors was OK but when I called for follow up service to address a problem with the locks, the woman who answered my call was very rude and not at all helpful. Basically she told me there is nothing they could do and even if they would grace me with a service call it would not be for 4-6 months down the road. I recently had a garage door installed. Wait time is long from when the permit is issued; but they are busy. I could not be happier with the installation. My installer was one of the best; Dave. I just called to schedule an estimate for shutters. Woman was rude and gave me their showroom number to call. Okay....I called that number and spoke to Roman. What a condescending arse! I am trying to set up a time around my busy schedule to accommodate their three hour window they want for just an estimate. He acts like he is doing me a favor, when I tell them what my schedule allows, to come out to me. You know what, F them. I already have three other appointments with other companies. Very disappointed with Active Door and Window.  I had a $30,000 contract for windows and a triple slider.  When they put in the $7500 triple slider they did not level the sill that the bottom track sits on.  This is the most important step and they blew it.  Once the track is installed it is impossible to get it right because it's caulked in place.  The jamb on the latch side of the door was not plumb which made everything worse.  From day one I tried telling the installers and the office there was a problem and on the third visit they made a half hearted attempt to fix it by cutting the caulk and bending the track up in the low spot.  It is still not the way it should be but this is just what you get from Active Door.  Get in, get it done and get out seems to be the way they operate.  I do not think the installers are to blame because I believe they are doing what is expected of them.  I spoke to the management / owner and it fell upon deaf ears.  Forget about quality control with Active Door and Window, I would not recommend this company. read more

We decided on Active Door due to Steve's honesty and experience of working with the company for 20 years and his taking so much time with us but also knowing the company has been around for a long time . Time was set up for when they could install and they were even sooner than later. Installers Eddie and Dan were fantastic. They worked very diligently and informed us as to what they were doing as well as how to operate the storm shutters and went over it several times with patience. They worked as a team and it showed they were very proud of the work they did. We were very impressed as to how courteous they were..We would recommend Active Door & Window highly. Impossible to do business with! When I stopped by to purchase (7) additional storm struts (costing ~$250) to reinforce the CHI garage door (model 4251) that Active Door & Window installed 3 years ago, John, the counter guy, treated me like an idiot. First he says "we cannot guarantee the wind rating in writing", which I never asked for. He then said it would cost $500 and they needed an engineer to analyze all the parts that I needed, including new torsion springs, etc. I asked John if what I asked was too hard for Active to do. John said "Oh No, they could help." I informed him that I was a graduate Mechanical Engineer with 40 years experience, that I have CHI's recommended modifications, that I installed (2) similar garage doors in our Delaware home just recently, and that all I need were the parts. I left my cell number, in addition to emailing the Active Door rep listed on their web site when I got home. John said someone would get back to me after speaking to the CHI rep. It's been a week and no word by phone or email. It seemed like John wanted to sell me a new hurricane door, at a much higher price, because their workload was slow in the Summer. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ACTIVE FOR THEIR LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

I had two doors installed. It took 7 weeks for Active to get in the doors. Finally installed and one door's weather stripping is tattered along the bottom. The other door's knob doesn't catch. I have to use the deadbolt to hold it closed. $1100 total and they won't come out on a Saturday or after 3 pm to fix it. Install was in September 3 months ago.
