He gave a thorough and comprehensive explanation of every aspect of the window, sliding door, and front door replacement. Our first estimate did not include replacement of three trapezoidal windows and one rectangular window above the front door. Once we realized that these existing windows were not impact-resistant, I requested that they be added to the job. Rob came and did extensive measurements, then he returned again with an even more experienced expert to confirm everything. The preliminary work must have been spot on, because these trouble-windows went in with little difficulty. Except for the large section of termite-damaged wood that the installer uncovered and, of course, completely removed and replaced. Given the special geometric and installation requirements, the finished product is incredible. The installation crew was technically expert. In addition, each one had a real concern for the extensive interior memorabilia throughout the home that we were unable to relocate before the work. Everything was covered and protected from both dust and inadvertent contact. This gave us the confidence not to worry about damage, and of course there was none. The final process involved filling holes in the stucco made by the removal of ancient sliding shutters, installing new trim around the three trapezoidal windows, and touch-up painting, including the new front door. Once again, extreme care was given to protecting the inside of the house near the door and the exterior screened entrance. The work was neat and thorough, and the final cleanup was total and complete I can't recommend Armored Dade highly enough. In my relatively brief stay in Florida, I of course have not avoided the countless TV commercials for window replacement: 0% off; buy 1 get 1; get 4; etc. Rob made no mention of any "deals" at his initial visit because with a top-quality product installed by a top-quality firm, there is no need for gimmicks.

(I knew where this was going) Immediately she went into a sales pitch about replacing all of my windows and throwing in an obviously rehearsed sales pitch. When I told her I didn't have the money to replace all of my windows now, she said, well I have to tell you we are booking out to 8 weeks. That's the same as getting a ridiculously high quote for a job a contractor doesn't want to do. I guarantee you if I wanted all of my windows replaced, I would not have an 8 week wait. If you're looking to replace all of your windows and doors, perhaps this is a good option for you but clearly they could not be bothered with a "small job" like mine when there's bigger fish to fry. So when it's time to replace my windows, and that day is coming, because they didn't want to help me now, I won't go to them for the big job.

This past Friday I met the guys from "New South Window Solutions of Sarasota" Brett the "Corporate Trainer" was training this "African" guy. Yes, I thought "Aussie", he corrected me. So, this it how it started: The old bait and switch! On Friday this guy's boss (Brett Ray, the corporate trainer) wrote a contract for 13K for the patio door replacement. They made a mistake on the contract, they forgot to include the discounts (the discounts weren't applied, yet the contract showed the total being $13421.00 for 6/8 French doors, hurricane rated.) On Monday the trainee returned. To make a long story short he raised the price up 10K to a total of 23K. The sales guys said it was because the opening was 96X72, so therefore would cost more. The original contracted clearly stated 6/8 which is, let's do the math: 6X12=72 8X12=96. Nothing changed except them raising their price.
