Dropped in for a quick second to get some dog food and found just what I needed without any difficulty. Repeated bad experiences at this location and today, today was bad enough to leave a Yelp review. We were n the store for at least 30 minutes shopping around, we have a dog on his last leg and there was a specific product we had had trouble locating at their other locations, mind you this was our 4th stop n the springfield Nixa area. We were finally ready to check out and stood at the counter for several minutes before an associate, a young lady comes walking up and just says "our systems are down" so what does that mean, no idea this was the only information provided. "Ok do you just have to reboot" "No it's down we can't make any transactions". Gotcha so I ask "well we can just do a cash transaction no problem ya" " NO , our system is down" another associate walks up and chimes in "we can hold it for you" appreciated but we live a lil ways outside Springfield area so it's not just a hop in the car. "Do your other locations have this product that you can check" " No I don't know, we are just going to close," young lady then tells other associate to lock doors and turn off open sign, they are supposed to be open until 8. There have been several issues with this location from customer service, lack of product, and worse is the condition of their dog bath station, that has not had there hot water properly fixed in a year, if I'm bringing my dog to a place to bath them, it means I am likely putting my dog on a pretty high priority level and not looking to wash them in frigid low pressure water. Holy shrimp. This place is horrendous. I left feeling like I had just watched a horror movie. In the mice tanks there were several dead ones from multiple containers that needed to be removed. We let them know and it didn't seem like a big deal to the employee. And then one of the worst disgusting things I had seen was they had put one female hamster in with 10 or more males and the tank was marked not for sale. The male hamsters were raping and biting the female whom looked half dead. They were chewing her and she had wounds. It was horrifying. They had a huge fish that only had enough room to swim from top to bottom, if you can even call it that. I will never go to this location again. This is cruelty and I feel sick at my stomach. We have an 11 week old puppy and have been to a couple local places getting some things for him. Toys, treats, food...etc. Went here for the first time today and was completely won over with the prices on food, treats and chews. Also, the guy that helped me was super friendly and helpful and didn't try and sell me everything under the sun and just told me straight up what was BS and what wasn't. Got the little one some buffalo bones he recommended and was maybe the best purchase we have made yet. He loves and has carried it all over the house. So I'm not usually one to post negative reviews and I want this to come from the most constructive place that I possibly can. I usually shop at the battlefield location because I've built up awesome relationships with the staff there and they do an excellent job of sharing knowledge and in particular the arachnid/reptile guys Alec and Nathan take exceptional care of their critters. I was shopping at that location and heard that the Glenstone location had some species of arachnids I was interested in so I stopped in to check out their stock. The guy that helped me simply left me speechless and not in a good way. They reeeeaally need to do their homework before carrying tarantulas, almost everything that the young man said was wrong. I checked his name tag (Kyle) before I left because I want him to improve so that he doesn't repeat this information with someone who does NOT understand tarantulas. Where do I start: 1.) he said the spider was already growing it's hair back after kicking urticating setae - Tarantulas do NOT grow their hair back until they molt into their next exoskeleton - they aren't mammals 2.) he said to give the spider 1-2 pinhead crickets and the spider was a 2 inch specimen - it wouldn't be able to find the food at that size and should be fed 1-2 feedings of small to medium crickets per week if it took them because it was an arid species with a low metabolism but not that low! 3.) he then opened another container with an arboreal (tree dwelling) species in a terrestrial container. -keep arboreal spiders in vertical enclosures 4.)The container was also much too large for the specimen and it could easily have squeezed through the cracks in the lid and been off into the store, where it would most likely die due to dehydration. -Never keep a spider in an enclosure where its carapace is smaller than the holes in the top of the enclosure. It does not matter how far it's abdomen is, trust me, it can squeeze through and it could be off to the races. 5.)It was a rainforest species kept without access to water and without some moisture in its enclosure. -Do not drench T's but give them a little moisture and access to water because as a spiderling they lack a waxy coating that protects them from desiccating due to dehydration. Their care is different depending on the species. 6.) He used his fingers to move a Psalmopoeus Irminia - Venezuelan Sun Tiger sling to show me the spider. -THIS SPIDER IS DEFENSIVE AND SKITTISH!!! It also has higher venom potency than many other new world species because it lacks urticating hairs(these are barbed hairs which most new world species use as a defense mechanism) which also further should inform the keeper that it is more prone to biting. He was very lucky not to get bitten and the spider was very well behaved (thankfully). Now I absolutely love taking care of these captivating animals and have really enjoyed shopping with Petsway and will continue to do so because I believe it truly has some of the best variety and goes leagues above any other pet store in the world of exotic pets. However, it is incredibly important and prudent for the staff to be knowledgeable and responsible in selling and keeping these animals. Spreading misinformation or selling animals in an uneducated manner puts the animal and the owner at a disadvantage. I'm worried that this store may get a more defensive or venomous species in without knowing it's care or temperament and causing other stores in the branch that are doing it responsibly to lose access to these beautiful and interesting exotic animals. I want to continue to be able to buy more unique and interesting arachnids from knowledgeable staff like Nathan and Alec but the other locations really need to get their husbandry and understanding down or they will end up with more dead spiders or someone getting hurt. Thanks for hearing me out and again I don't want this to scare anyone off from buying but doing your homework is essential when you take care of animals! And for now, if you want to buy arachnids, BUY FROM BATTLEFIELD. They know their stuff and I trust them to give people good information in both their reptiles and arachnids! read more

Sadly, I have shopped at this store since it opened a couple of years ago. I don't anymore. Petsway Glenstone is typically under stocked - carrying only minimal product depth i.e., they're typically out of whatever I need. The manager's standard response is to blame the distributor or to remind me that, if I call ahead of time, they will have what I need. Here's a thought Petsway owner - how about you do your job and carry a better inventory and then I won't have to call. The Pet's Way store at 2920 East Sunshine In Springfield Mo has to be one of the worst pet stores I ever had the displeasure to shop in. Went into the store on 12 10 2020 to purchase some litter and a new litter box for my cat. There were four employees in the store and none of them asked me if I needed any help. They were all standing around doing nothing. When I finally got the attention of one female employee I asked her where the litter boxes were she just gave me a look and pointed to the back of the store and said'' There back there'' No ''Sir let me help you find what you are looking for'' Just a point to the back of the store. The prices for cat litter at this store is insane. TWENTY dollars for the same size Arm and Hammer cat litter I can purchase for six dollars at the Dollar General store just a few doors down from this store. I did purchase my cat's litter at the dollar store. However the dollar store didn't have any litter boxes if they had I wouldn't have bothered going to Pet's Way. 32.99 for a litter box. When I looked at the dip shit cashier that finally came to wring me up after ten minutes of standing at the counter waiting for them one of them to acknowledge me and she quoted me the price for a simple plastic litter box with a plastic top I thought she was joking. Nor did she say sir Let's go in the back of the store to see if there is something a little less then that. Nope Just 32.99 please. So to put it simply this store sucks. I'm also going to find there corporate office number call it and let corporate know how rude there employees are at this location. HORRIBLE STORE. read more

I made an appointment to get my dog groomed. I showed up and the groomer wasn't there. They told me they could shampoo my dog and make another appointment to bring her back to get her hair cut. I agreed and was told to pay half that day and half when I brought her back. I paid 20$. Today I dropped her off to get her hair. It and when I picked her up was told it would be 40$! I explained that I had already paid half and they went and got a manger. The manager told me that I need to pay the full amount which was 35$ I'm still unclear why everyone was telling me to pay 40$. I told her I thought that was unfair because now I'll be paying over what it cost to get a dog shampooed and cut. She didn't seem to care so I told her I would not be coming back and she wait that's fine. I am ashamed of this petsway. I bought two map turtles with excitement as I brought them home and put them in my clean and well filtered 10 gallon tank. Minutes after I put them in the tank, they started to look sick and 24 hours later, one of the two turtles died. Later, after a week, the second one died. I wasn't sure if it was my fault or the pet stores. I returned both turtles back to the store, and they gave me 21 dollars of in store credit. I was going to buy another turtle thinking it was my fault, but I looked in the tank to see another two dead, floating map turtles. It wasn't just the turtles that were sick, some of the other animals looked sick as well. Don't ever buy animals from this petsway. Other pet stores take proper care of there animals. My friend Nathan bought his turtle from Theturtlesorce.com and his turtle was shipped in 6 hours and it was healthy and very active. Please avoid this petsway or all petsways. read more
