Having your animal's best interest at heart should be top priority when boarding, and initially the staff at PetSuites was a place that I believed did this and seemed like a good place that I could trust. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case for me after just 2 stays for our dog - and now our last. Might I add, this was also our first time ever using a dog boarding facility. Simply put, I was scheduled to pick up my dog, S. at 7:30pm last Sunday. However, I was coming from the DC area and got stuck in very bad traffic due to a bad accident on I95 (go figure, right?) So if you are ever running just a FEW minutes behind due to an unforeseen circumstance to pick up your animal before they close - and despite your constant effort to try and get there before close and constant communication of your location, they will DENY you your pet even if you are ONLY 4 minutes late! On top of that, my dog peed in his bed after he was forced to stay that extra night and I'm confident they did not take him to the bathroom because he was expected to be picked up at 7:30 and did not consider the circumstances. At first, I would've left this place 4 stars for being convenient, clean and having pleasant staff, but to have zero grace and understanding to an unforeseen circumstance and rather make our dog spend another night alone outside the comfort of his family and home when he easily could have is just wrong and unacceptable - especially over 4 minutes. In addition, they even tried to charge us for the extra night!
PetSuites, l I hate to leave a poor review, but it's important for potential clients to consider what I experienced before trusting to leave their dog/cat with you. I could not have been more disappointed by Raven and the other 2 male employees who were working last Sunday evening. Raven at first was very pleasant the first time we had Stryker stay with you all 2 weeks ago, so I am not sure how suddenly her sense of customer service got lost. I called Sunday evening with plenty of notice that we obviously were late for our pick up time and asked if it'd be okay to pick S. up a few minutes past close, and that we are on our way. I was caught off guard when they said "no" and said we had to be there by 8pm. Despite that, we still drove as quickly and safely as we could to try and get there at 8pm and I was texting the staff on duty updates on where we were turning, but red lights defeated us and we pulled into the parking lot at 8:04pm. After driving 5 hours and sitting in traffic most the drive, my husband, 3 young children and I were eager to get our dog and go home. To our dismay, when we attempted to open the building door, it was LOCKED, but could still see 3 staff members inside - yet no one came to let us in and they KNEW we were coming! We waited a minute or so outside the building, still hoping to get S. and when Raven and the 2 other staff members walked out, we asked. Again, we were told, NO, and that it was out of their control. Explain to me how that is? The pick up process takes 5 minutes at the most! I was irate for several reasons, but what really killed is my 3 yo daughter who started crying when we had to pull away from the parking lot without S. The staff completely FAILED and it cost them a new customer who would've given a lot of business!
The icing on the cake: when I went to pick up S. the next morning, I was able to walk in 4 minutes early before they opened and purposely got there early to see if this was possible. (So you can't walk in 4 minutes late, but certainly can 4 minutes early.) The Manager was there and when she heard me tell her employer that I was NOT paying for the additional night S. stayed when I was here speaking to 3 staff members ready to pick up my dog, she quickly apologized and told me she'd find out why it happened and that it was unacceptable. She was nice and I appreciate that she apologized and did not charge me (just as I'd expected from a Manager) but where I feel let down is that I felt I deserved an explanation and I've reached out for one ever since this matter occurred and have not heard back. What was the staff's rush? Why couldn't they wait? How was it out of their control?' I read your policy and waiver and NOTHING in there states anything about running late and forcing your dog/cat to stay another night or charging for the additional night. Why were the staff's needs put before S's to get home with his family that Sunday evening? They knew my every turn and that I was on my way. And if you were going to close and knew you were keeping S. overnight and not letting him go home, why did they not let him out to use the bathroom? I cannot trust Raven and the 2 other staff members to ever watch S. again and will go somewhere else that is more gracious and understanding and not deny me my dog when you're fully capable of letting him go home with his family. read more
