if i could give this a -100 i would. back in january my groomer up and moved to lexington out of the clear blue sky. i meant so she needed groomed badly so i took her there. i had taken my schnauzer. were there several years ago before i found a groomer close to me and they did a pretty good job. but then they had one person that would stay with the dog all day long if you pay extra, which is what i did and now they don't do that. i did not know you did not have to have a license to be a groomer in the state of north carolina the vet tech when i had to take her to the vet, which i'll explain in a minute told me that they show them videos for eight hours and turned them loose to what happened was her neck got cut it was like a z shaped cut they did not tell me they had cut her neck. that was my main beef. i mean, accidents happen, right if they would've just told me look, we're sorry we cut her neck but i checked out, looked underneath her neck and around it and everything and evidently they had combed the air or something so i couldn't immediately see it and then i noticed her scratching and it really really bad and when i went to look at it. it was like there was some kind of goop on it that made it hard. evidently, they tried to glue. that's some kind of glue on it. when i finally got the goof off for the glue which took a while and looked at it, and i saw a z shaped cut. it was obviously done with scissors so my vet said anyway. that was the next day. vet sorry immediately confirmed my worst nightmare. luckily it didn't require stitches because they said they had put the stuff on it that sealed the cut and i'll say with anabiotic fluid in it so that it didn't get infected and they provided me with the meds that she needed. they freaking should've told me and i wouldn't be giving this scathing review. i will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever getting back together with petsmart because of this i will never ever even go in there and buy anything for my dog or any other animal that i know they will never get one sent from read more

I've been ordering my cats food and treats for a very long time. I'm always happy with the service I receive.

I dash a lot from them. I go in when I have the chance but with my busy life it's hard sometimes. I have a lot of animals and their stock is pretty high in quantity so I rarely have an issue getting what I need. And when I can't put my eyes on it first hand it's nice to know they are sending quality feeders and dasher is able to find product. read more

First, sorry for the long review but I want to be though. I took our 1 year old German Shepherd Rescue for his first class this past Sunday. Mind you, we previously had a Belgian Mali mix and prior to that a German Shepherd -Husky mix. Hence, we are not unaware of the breed. We have a quiet household and when we went inside the store he got totally overwhelmed with all the stimulation. I get that. The trainer approached me and told me that he would probably do better with individual training sessions. Ok. She saw me struggling to contain him and offered NOTHING but criticism about what I was doing wrong. There is NO way I would ever return. Karen, the trainer, is not someone that I would trust, have confidence in nor want to help me train my dog. read more

dog lovers BEWARE! stay away from the grooming salon at this location and specifically HEATHER! i have been visiting this location a few times for grooms in the past, never had an issue. i was just there 4 days ago with one of my other dogs. was it an $80 groom? absolutely. did it look like an $80 groom on a schnoodle? no. but i did not complain as i normally don't and proceeded on. nothing had happened that made me feel uncomfortable that day, which is why i felt comfortable making another appointment for my other dog to be groomed yesterday. my dog is 7 years old and is a havanese. she is a wonderful dog with amazing temperament and personality. she has been groomed since she was old enough to be and has been through the process hundreds of times. i dropped her off yesterday thinking everything was fine. my husband and i went through the normal procedure of check in. we went over everything, we just wanted the same type of haircut she always gets. shorter body with a teddy bear face and feathered tail. i get a phone call about 3 hours after and they left a voicemail saying that she was ready to be picked up AND at the end, the guy said they decided to shave my dog's tail off. i was beyond words. we get in the car and rush over. inside, we stand and wait in the grooming salon for at least 7 minutes, waiting for them to bring her out. i saw a strange looking woman, hunched over in the back, shaving a schnauzer down to its skin. i mean it looked like a hairless cat, it looked so bad. i had a feeling by what i saw her doing that she had done this to my dog, but wasn't sure because i booked the appointment with a heather, but we didn't get to talk to her during any part of the grooming process at all. a man with a mask on handled everything from start to finish with us. regardless, we trusted petsmart grooming as always, no matter who did the groom. the moment my husband and i saw our dog, we were in absolute shock. the pictures speak for themselves. i said "this was not what i was expecting at all. why wouldn't you call me if you needed to shave her down and ask me if that was okay?". this is what i could not figure out or get an honest answer on, why wouldn't you call the dog's parents and ask for permission before doing something completely different than was discussed with our dog? all of a sudden, the pathetic looking woman in the back starts yelling at me like an animal after i said that. she said she did the groom and it's my fault that my dog looks the way she does. she was arguing, telling me that they did call me. i said "a man called me to let me know she was ready and in the message he said she was shaved down, that's it". so she starts yelling so loud at my husband and i, the other associate called the store manager in. she starts claiming when the manager was there and as she is LITERALLY SHAVING A DOG DOWN TO ITS SKIN, that my dog was biting her and she had matting down to her skin. she was literally just groomed almost a month ago and is brushed out constantly. obviously this is not true. in my 7 years of having this dog, not ONCE did another groomer do this to her. she has never bitten anyone ever, not even me, my husband, children, and certainly NEVER A GROOMER! how dare you make such a false accusation. i finally had to tell her "hi, i'm the customer who is expected to pay for your chop shop job. you get to stand there and get paid, please stop screaming at us, trying to defend why you are shaving dogs down to the skin instead of using SCISSORS! i asked that question too, it made her even more made because she knows she is wrong! she even cut her face uneven! heather (if that is her name) is apathetic, lazy, and cruel. why are you shaving dogs down instead of using scissors to cut? is it because you are rushing? do you go to work every day just to be there or do you care about people's family members that we entrust to your care and you rush through the groom and it looks terrible but i'm not supposed to complain. the before and after photos speak for themselves. corporate has been contacted. read more

The service here is horrible, especially customer service. I was running five minutes behind from an appointment prior to my dogs grooming appointment... It was scheduled for 230 and I was not able to make it there until 235. The lady gave me attitude on the phone saying I needed to be there at exactly 230. My 3 dogs, a Rottweiler, a Poodle mix, and a Brussels Griffon went for grooming. All 3 dogs were treated well and appeared relaxed when we picked them up. My Rottweiler never likes her nails trimmed and fights the procedure. Both groomers were kind and patient with here. I've never used a pet store for my kitty bcuz with Amazon I can usually get a better price, you know. Well, I needed a better wet food choice for my young lovely kitty. I did my research finding a few good brands that were reasonably priced. My girl is a picky eater, and I don't mind that bcuz after all, I want het to enjoy her meals, that's part of taking care of her. Petsmart has every brand and flavor under the sun at reasonable prices, and starting out I didn't have a clue which flavor my kitty would prefer, so then and still, if I want to try something new I'll buy 3 or 4 cans. If she likes it then great, but if not so much, the next trip to stock up, I return the unopened cans of those that weren't a hit, and its never a problem for the cashier. Best too is the exceptional customer service, and always being able to find an associate to answer questions. So glad this is my store read more

I am a fan of this PetSmart! Everyone is usually quite friendly and you can always find what you need. The last time we were in there was an issue with returning something because we had lost the receipt but eventually they let us do it for store credit which we were fine with. Your really can't beat the selection. They have the most variety of all natural dog foods and treats in the area. The training was a bit pricier than others in the area, but we did go to a meet the trainers session and the trainer was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. Always be sure to look at the website for coupons because they usually post them for holidays and things like that. read more

Very clean and very organized store and very helpful workers. This was my first time visiting since I had a coupon for a free bag of cat food. The cons is the store is full of over priced stuff. Petsmart is probably one of the few brick & mortar places around now that has the biggest selection of pet supplies. Outside of them, I'll have to say that you have to go to boutique stores. What's interesting about them is that while sometimes its pretty expensive there, usually there are pretty good discounts through their rewards program, and they have sales all the time. And if your pets are picky about certain types of foods , toys or whatever, be assured that there's probably something at this store for them that they'll like. read more

I took my dog to get groomed about 3 weeks ago. I ordered the chi package for him. They were supposed to wash, groom, bush his teeth, grind his nails; the whole nine yards. I will never be taking my baby back to them. They cut him several times on his back and then gouged him pretty deep on the inside of his leg. They never brushed his teeth and they also didn't grind his nails. Yet they still charged me for it all. The staff acted like they were bothered to have to actually do their job. Horrible and unacceptable are the only things I have left to say about this experience. If I could walk back in there and give them a piece of my mind I would. Please don't take your dogs to these people. read more

I took both of my dogs to be groomed. They are doodles, one of which needed a haircut and one just a bath and sanitary trim. I dropped them off at 1:50(appt at 2) I'm told they close at 6 and it takes around 3 or so hours. I come back at 5:30 and they have Obviously JUST started on my dog, which I let her know I know this and find it ridiculous that my dog would just be getting groomed 3.5 hours after I dropped her off. My other dog has been sitting in a cage since shed had her bath so basically 3 hours and nobody had called. Sarah then cuts me off to interrupt to say she had matting at which I pointed out, it was her job to deal with those, bc she was grooming the dog, and that doesn't explain the timeline for the haircuts! She then had the manager come who was 100% rude! I was having friends to my house and told her so and that I was very upset about their time management Obviously and she then tells me "maybe you shouldn't plan events the same day you make an appointment to groom your dogs" to which I replied maybe she should handle appointments appropriately and NOT tell your customers how to live their life! I also watched them through the window be extremely rough with the dogs! I will NEVER be back! read more

If I can't find anything I need at a local pet business I usually hit up Petsmart. This location in particular, I'm not a big fan of. Customer service is not polite. They would not groom our handicapped dog that cannot stand due to weak back legs - would give NO stars - not accommodating of a senior dog.

This Petsmart is the busiest and biggest store in the region. With that being said, yes the lines are sometimes long, but the cashiers do their best to get the lines going through quickly. They do call for back up and try to shorten lines, but other employers are sometimes busy helping other customers. The place does run out of stuff quickly, but again, they are the most busiest pet store around. If you can't find a product, they do try and help you find somewhere that does have it. Employers do their best to be helpful and try to educate others with animals or products. Also, Petsmart DOES PRICE MATCH!! If you find it online and it's the EXACT SAME product, they'll change the price for you!! No more expensive, fancy products. read more

I made an 11:30am appointment for my dog to get groomed. When I arrived, Breanna was the nastiest person that I've ever encountered in my life! She asks me what type of haircut are we going for today and I showed her a picture of how I wanted my dog to look like. Well she takes my dog, looks at Brooke (the other groomer) and whispers something to her and then Brooke looks back at me and states that she cannot service my dog today because he had slight matting. Here's the thing, my dog has had slight matting before and Brooke and the other store associates still groomed him. Breanna is a racist and she definitely showed that today! She and Brooke dike ass is lucky that I didn't cuss them tf out! I will NEVER visit Pet Smart again and never will I do service with them. I can see why they have so many negative reviews! If you're not able to service slightly matted dogs then don't do it at all! Don't make an exception to do it here and there because that causes a lot of confusion! Breanna your racist ass does not need to be working here with the attitude and personality you have! I have already contacted corporate and I am demanding that something be done about this! To people who are reading the comments please do not bring your dogs here. There was many other great places you can take your dog too!! Screw Petsmart groomers! read more

They carry the brand of food we use, Simply Nourish, and even though it may not always be on sale it's worth it because we no longer have issues with diets. I love that they now have online booking for grooming but also you can do in store pick up for items you pick online too such as food, treats, etc. the lines aren't usually long if you come early AM or mid-afternoon. The staff is always willing to help find something if you aren't sure what you need too.. Or if they've moved things around! I always come out with something extra to treat my kitties. I did use the grooming department when we had a previous dog and they were great. I purchased fish tanks, tank decor, food, and 4 fish on 4/22/2021. The tank decorations were marked buy one get one half off but I had been charged full price for all of them. I would have debated about while I was there but I was so upset by the customer service from Elizabeth who had gotten our fish from the tank. She had noticed the new tank in the cart and asked if the goldfish were pets or feeder fish. Keep in mind my 4 small children were all excited to pick a fish and were with me. I replied pets and then she said that I couldn't put them in the tank I was purchasing for three days because it wouldn't be set up properly. I can appreciate the training the associates receive on pet care but basic customer service needs some improvement because she then said in front of my kids that I planned on killing their fish. She never gave me a chance to explain I have other tanks and experience with fish. The next three hours were fun trying to reassure the children their new pets weren't being brought to die. She then wouldn't speak to me after that and wouldn't allow the kids to pick which fish they were getting. So we ended up with a one eyed fish and two other little guys out of the goldfish tank. By the way all of them are alive and well 2 weeks later. Better off than the dead fish they had floating in their tanks at the store. Maybe Elizabeth should clean out their tanks before criticizing mine. read more

i buy my guppies from this petsmart as there are not many places to choose from around here, so I started my aquarium back up and bought two batches of 5 guppies and 2 black mollies, they did/are doing great except the black mollies who had ick and spread it throughout the tank and as I treat them one of the mollies started to look like she was peeling skin until she died, I figured 11 of the 12 fish survived that's good! so after the ick was gone I decided to add a few more guppies and went down there Monday 10-10-22, I got 3 females and 2 males, brought them home and they were fine til today when I got up 3 of the 5 had died, both males and a female. I took them back to get replacements and started looking at the tank, 3 tanks had "being treated signs on them, there was a tank of black mollies w 3 regular mollies in it and the 3 were completely covered in ick, I mean really, really badly, I looked in the tank I'd gotten my two males from and there were several dead in the bottom of that tank and the ones alive were not acting right u could clearly tell something was wrong with them, I told the lady she said "I'll make a note" so I decided to get new ones from different tanks then before as I'm sure something is wrong with the tank of the first males I got, I get them home, two completely different types of males and 1 female, I drop them in my tank and one of the males had an ick spot, I immediately removed them and put them in a quarantine tank, but my point is the Petsmart on Hanesmill needs to take better care of their stock of fish and stop letting people buy sick fish, it could cause someone to lose their entire stock at home!!!! read more

We have been taking our dog here for years to be groomed and he has come back injured several times. On at least two occasions we have found scabs on his skin where the groomer obviously has clipped his skin causing it to bleed. The last time we took him here in march, he came back with a cut on his left foot, visible in the photo, at least a few inches long. The groomer did not let us know about the injury and we only noticed it after getting home. Not only has he come back with cuts and scabs, but I often notice his coat is cut unevenly, where they miss spots usually on the back of his ears or face. We would often come here for convenience but will not be returning. I recommend FUR in downtown Winston which has a cheaper schnauzer cut and our dog has never come back with a bad grooming job or injury. read more

Don't waste your time or money getting your dog groomed here. They don't care what you want and cut your dog however they want. If you attempt to instruct them how you would like your dog cut they will argue with you tell you how you are wrong. They pick the breed of dog they want to cut your dog like regardless of your instruction. What happened to customer service and the customer is always right. It's my dog and I have to live with him- not you so please cut it they way I am paying you to. I don't mind paying more if it's to get what I want but they don't even care. If you do go- ask for any groomer other than Emily. She will argue with you and clearly doesn't like her job or care about the animals. I worry about they way they treat the animals there. They muzzle and yell at your dog if they even slightly move around on the cutting table. We have watched several dogs out of control attempting to jump off the table away from the groomer and they just stand back and watch- the dog could get seriously hurt. They ask for a 4 hour window and they use all of it. We dropped our dog off at 1:20 (appointment was at 1:30) and came back at 5:15 and he still wasn't ready. What were they doing with him all that time?? Seeing the way they treated other dogs made me uneasy and wonder how they treated my dog when I'm not there. We spoke with the manager and all she could do was continue to argue with me and say how I was wrong. All she would do is say "I think you would be best at another groomer". Is that really what corporate would like to hear- that their managers send their customers away and don't work to remedy the situation. The words "I'm sorry" never came out of her mouth. We went to pet smart because we love our fur baby so we thought pet smart would be a place they loved our fur baby too but that's clearly not true. So disappointed. read more

We have a larger breed dog and while they have groomed her very well here at least once or twice most of the time they just don't. The first time we took her she was groomed beautifully. There were no matts, her hair was silky soft, she smelled great, her nails were trimmed and her breath was fresh and she had two little bows at her ears. The past few times she looked worse when she left than when she arrived. It didn't appear they had even bathed her the last time. I really think most of the groomers are afraid of the larger dogs. The time she came out groomed to perfection the lady that did the grooming came out and said how much she had enjoyed grooming her (and it showed) and how well behaved she was. The last time it looked as if they had brushed the outside couple of inches of hair and she even smelled bad when we picked her up. It was like they sprayed her with something that had a bad odor instead of bathing her. I understand if people are afraid of dogs or afraid of larger dogs even if she is not one of the breeds that are thought of as aggressive. I just don't understand why as a business you don't provide even remotely consistent grooming services. While I am not sure the groomer was afraid of larger breeds as nothing was said, I am sure our larger breed dog was groomed extremely poorly and did not appear to have even had a decent bath. read more
