Unfortunately my pup had such an upsetting experience here. I spoke with the staff and included in the initial paperwork that my dog was not crate trained because it causes her significant anxiety and that she should not be placed in one while waiting to be groomed and was assured that she wouldn't be. I double checked when I dropped her off that this was feasible in the workflow and let them know that I was available to pick her up as soon as she was ready to prevent any need to place her in a crate. When I went to pick her up for simple grooming service, they informed me she was so scared during the service that 2 staff had to hold her down and yet continued to complete the service. I was not informed of this until I picked her up. Needless to say we will not be returning. If you have a dog who can be anxious during grooming, I'd recommend going to a different place. I have loved sending Scout to Ruff Housing and highly recommend. I was hesitant to try a new boarding place after a negative experience at another company left my dog with an injury. However, Ruff Housing is top notch. Their assessment and specialized group play sets them apart. My last daycare place let the dogs all play in one big group. This was okay for Scout, but she mostly ran around instead of playing. I think it overwhelmed her. At Ruff Housing, they found that Scout preferred lower energy dogs. In this specialized, smaller group, Scout actually played with other dogs and got a lot of attention. Scout can also be leash reactive, and they were great about this. They'd let me drop her off/ pick her up at a different door so she didn't bark at dogs in the lobby. I always felt a great sense of peace leaving her there, and I loved getting pictures of her in her report card. read more

This business is so poorly managed. I bought a package of 20 stays for my pet which I've been attempting to use for months now. Each time I go to book, I'm rejected. Even if it's 3-4 weeks in advance. Well, after booking 1-2 months in advance I was finally accepted. Reservation set, trip planned, ready to go. 1 day before my trip, I get a call saying that they are "closing for renovations". Really? Last minute renovations? I have to apologize to the girl that gave me this information; she probably wasn't expecting how pissed I was given I've tried to book multiple times. You all know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation. If you want one massive disappointment in service, go to Ruff Housing. Word of advice, go to Pet Suites of Greensboro. Bigger facility, same day booking, and they were able to accommodate last minute. read more

I have two perspectives of the place: as a former employee who worked there for three years and as a dog owner who brings my dogs there. To keep it short I recommend! I know exactly what my dog is going to get there. Not all dogs like it there but think of it as taking your kid to Disney world. As a former employee I have mixed opinions. The long time employees truly care about these animals and will do anything to help and are highly trained. The job is very low pay, especially considering the workload so there is high turnover. The shorterm staff who aren't super interested in animals always got on my nerve. Onto the dog care perspective. The environment is very loud and fast paced, amd every dogs personality is different when it's no longer at home or with it's owners. So highly consider that. But, I once brought my senior dog for boarding and he had a brewing infection that popped up there (he didn't get it from ruff housing). I was in the mountains with no cell connection and the manager called everyone I knew in Winston to get my dog to a vet. She truly saved his life. The staff also often take some anxious pups into the break rooms and in meetings for some extra loves. Also if there was one thing I wanted to tell the customers is that, most of the dogs hate playroom and group play for the first few months that they go there. My job was specifically slowly getting the dogs used to the ruff housing environment and group play, and solo playtimes. Please be patient with your dogs if they aren't In group play, it can be very stressful for new dogs. Ps. After taking our Lab pup who's now almost two years old and very well behaved to Ruff Housing in Greensboro for day play and occasional boarding, and after making boarding reservations months ago for a Thanksgiving family reunion, they notify us today they're planning renovations and may have to cancel our reservation. How considerate of frequent customers that always pay in advance! Unless we can find back-up boarding on short notice we'll have to cancel our trip. Our dog has always been happy to go in and happy to come out of Ruff Housing, but this is no way to treat pup parents! We'll be looking for an alternative. read more

My dog boarded here from July 17th through July 26th. This place is a step above animal abuse and I would not recommend anyone leaving their dog here. When you take your dog for orientation, everything seems great. They send you lots of pictures of your dog outside the room playing and doing activities. Once you board your dog, things change. I paid for a room with a camera as well as an all day play package, $59 per day. On the second day I noticed my dog was in her room every single time I checked on her so I called and asked why since she had all day play. They confirmed she had the package and said they'd look into it. For the next few days I continued to watch and noticed my dog was taken out of the room for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. The only day she was let out more than this was Sunday, curiously that day she was out pretty much all day. I called again Tuesday and asked why my dog was locked in her room 22 hours a day when I paid for all day play and they said that my dog was in a specialized play group and additional activity would stress her out. I guess they never looked in the room to see my dog stressed out being locked up day and night, panting, scratching at the door and jumping. I told them it was inhumane treatment, this isn't what I paid for, and had they been truthful and told me my dog would only be out two hours a day we would have gone elsewhere. They said they were sorry but nothing was going to change. Other issues I pointed out to them was my dog's potty pad was being used multiple times before someone would change it. I actually watched someone walk in her room after the potty pad had been used 3 times. My dog was so excited to see someone and was wagging her tail jumping on the guy. He never acknowledged my dog. He went in, kicked her food bowl out from under the dog bed, cleaned up the potty pad and walked out. On Wednesday I called again and said the potty pad had been used multiple times and my dog's bedding had been on the floor for 24 hours and asked someone to fix it. She laughed and asked if I was calling about Daisy. I said yes and she transferred me to the Greensboro office. I'm not sure why she thought it was funny that I had to call again because my dog wasn't being taken care of. Other things I saw on camera was a worker twerking instead of playing with the dogs, another time when my dog was out she was sitting next to a worker. They were on their phone and never bothered to pet my dog. They couldn't even get her food right. I sent 10 cans of dog food for morning meals. 2 were left when I picked my dog up so I guess they forgot to feed her for a couple days? read more

I was so nervous about putting my doodle pup into a daycare. I had a week long trip planned and was really worried about leaving him for so long. Ia also work remote and just needed a daycare for certain days. I researched and visited different locations in Greensboro. After a few weeks of searching, I narrowed down to Ruffhousing. Let me add my pup ended up with Diarrhea a day before he had to go to boarding lol (smh). I let the staff know of his diarrhea and packed sensitive stomach food for him. The staff sent me videos and pics to show how much fun Kofi was having and when I picked him up, his diarrhea was gone! Kofi was around 6 months at the time. He's now over a year old and loves Ruffhousing. When he sees me packing food he's ready to head out of the door lol! Im sad to say I'm moving to SC in a few weeks and we will miss Ruffhousing. My dog, Maggie, and I adore Ruff Housing! Before booking services for the first time, Ruff Housing has an orientation where you and your dog visit the facilities. Maggie was able to interact with some dogs outside during orientation to determine whether she would be a better fit for group play or specialized group play when she stayed there during the day. I really appreciated this attention to detail, because Maggie gets along with some dogs but not all, so specialized group play is a really great option. I've also utilized their grooming services and have always been very pleased with how Maggie looks after she's gotten a bath and a haircut. One of my favorite add-on services is getting a "report card" after Maggie has been there for daycare, as it will tell what kind of activities she did, what dogs she played with, and how she did during her enrichment activities (photos are also included, which I love). The staff members are always extremely courteous and and kind, and Maggie always leaves very happy. I would definitely recommend Ruff Housing for any daycare/grooming needs! read more

Today was the third time our dog has not received all of his meals. We label a bag for each meal for each day and explain it to the staff. They still manage to skip meals. Today when we picked him up, there was another dog's leash on him, and they could not find his leash. The missing of meals has happened at Greensboro, Cary and the Country Club location in Winston-Salem. We probably gave them more chances than we should have, but no more. When we called management, they apologized but could not explain why there are persistent problems. read more

Started taking my dog here a few year's ago. They were very good, at first, my dog loved going until I noticed a change in her. She was becoming aggressive to other dogs at dog run's and other places. The final straw was when I picked her up on day and her nails were bleeding. The manager at the time could not give me reason for this, basically blamed me for my dog being hurt under their care. I took my dog out of this place at once. Upon having her home when I would put her in her cubby she began to claw at the cage. I figured this is how she nails got torn and bloody. Since being home and working with her she no longer does this. I waited over six months before trying this place again, hoping they had better dog care givers. Again I noticed my dog behavior change from lively dog to a depressed dog on the days she went. The last two days she was here I watched the web cams all day. Last Wednesday she was never on any cam in the yard or the rooms. Seems she was in cage all day long. Today I watched and she was out once by herself in a yard with no other dogs. She keeled going to the fence because she knew other dogs were on the other side.. it was sad to watch. This is the only play time she had all day via the cams. I asked the Gen Z (Gen Stupid) why she was by herself. Her answer, I don't know. No, I will find out, no, let me check, just a deer in headlight look, I don't know. Told them I tried them again and they failed my dog once again. Before I even left the parking lot Gen Stupid sent me a text that they, per my request, deleted my account. Replied to text a shorter version of this and their reply was that had an issue with me before disrespecting their staff. Never cursed, never yelled just told them they did not take care of my dog properly both times Not disrespect but the truth. Paid for dog training just to work my dog's brain , the first time the trainer called me the second time did not hear from trainer asked front desk when I picked her up if she received her training g she could not verify nor deny if my dog had training but charged me for it any way. I asked again if she received her training. The answer was well you asked for training. Still it sure if she received training but was charged for it Greensboro location. I have used many different doggie daycare/boarding places over the past 20 years and all of them have different aspects that are positive and negative. At the end of the day, I just want to make sure my girl Sammie is being looked after and taken care while she is staying at the facility. I know that the workers here really do care and that is the most important thing to me. I also like the cameras so I can watch her play with the other dogs, even though she doesn't play that much. :) I would recommend giving this location a try. read more

I have noticed there is dog feces that remains for several days without being cleaned up by staff in the pet rest areas to the right and left of the entrance. Ruff Housing used to be a quality boarding/daycare facility. I even gave them a second chance after their license was taken away and then reinstated. They have failed. I highly recommend finding another dog daycare. The enrichment program is 15 mins of solo play in the yard twice a day and the rest of the time in a kennel. Dogs are often left sitting in their own waste due to low staff. Don't expect to see the same faces in the playroom, turnover is high. read more

This place should be shut down! I spoke with the Greensboro office before making the reservation. I explained to them that my puppy has not been around dogs and was kinda shy as she was only 7 months old. I gave them times see normally eats, how often she went potty and to leave dry food in her kennel at night,explaining to them this was her first time ever being boarded and I was concerned about her well being. They made this place sound like The Hilton for dogs, and promised me she would be well taken care of, so I agreed to bring her there. trusting she would be in good hands.What a JOKE! I made the reservation from 10/20/21-10/24/21. Purchased the luxury suite and a half a day play (which I was told was 4 hours a day ) along with 4 or more potty breaks. I dropped her off at 7 am and headed to my destination. I arrived at the hotel 6 hours away around 1 pm that day and called because the web cam was not working. At 9 pm when I went back to the cam I had noticed that she was walking back and forth to the bowls, she was put in the wrong suite,( the size of a small bathroom) cold, shaking and scared. I actually saw a hand at the bottom of the doorway throwing treats to her, and they left there with nothing.There was no water and no free feeding as I had instructed. The room she was was extremely small as I mentioned with very little room to move around,. I was sick to my stomach. I tried calling them but they close at 7, I had no way to help my baby. It was heartbreaking! Day 2- The next morning when I got up to check on her she was climbing the walls and in so much distress, I started crying. Her kennel was disgusting, there were 4 empty bowls in her kennel which tells me they never interacted with her and just threw food in the kennels and left her there. At this point I am furious, I call them raising hell. I asked them when was the last time she had been out and how long has she been in there. This women had enough nerve to tell me that because she was not interacting with other dogs, that they placed her back in her kennel. So because my dog is afraid of other dogs you punish her? I dropped her off at 7 am on Thursday until the time I picked her up at 10 pm on Friday she had only had 15 mins of playtime since she had been there. I cancelled my trip and drove 6 1/ 2 hours to get my CoCo. 39 hours my dog was locked in a steel cage with no potty pads and not one person interacted with her. Once I arrived to get her, she was groggy like they had given her something, she was scared to come to me, she smelled like she had been soaking in urine which again tells me she was never taken outside, and they tried to spray her with something to cover the smell. She looked as though she didnt recognize who we were. She was afraid to get in my truck which is very usual as she loves to go bye bye. She road from that horrible place all the way home and didnt move. TRAUMATIZED! She still is not eating and is very lethargic . Something happen to my dog under there care. I will be taken her to the vet first thing Monday morning and if I find anything in her blood work thats not supposed to be there, its not gonna be good. Please do not take your animals there, if they are not regulars ,or do not fit in with other dogs they will lock them down for the entire stay. This is inhuman and needs to stop. read more

Been going to Ruff Housen for a few years and loved it...paid the monthly unlimited package for 2 1/2 years until ownership got greedy and raised it well above a bmw car payment "430.00 per month" Even though we stopped paying the monthly, we still took our girl several days a week. With that said, I would consider us being a very loyal customer...So this morning I dropped my puppy off and got turned away, since I didnt have an appointment. I loved Ruff Housing for years. Brought my dog there so she wouldn't have to spend the day at home in her crate. She got to spend the whole day in a playgroup socializing with other dogs. New ownership? No notice to owners, but the new arrangement is "Half Days - One 20-minute play session in either the morning or afternoon" and "Full Day - Two 20-minute play sessions, one in the morning & one in the afternoon." Now doggy daycare means the entire day crated with two 20 minute breaks to play in small groups. The website says it clearly, but owners were not told of the change. And when I called to ask why was going on (after seeing my dog sit in a crate all day on the webcam), I was talked in circles. Clearly the person I spoke with didn't want me to know the reality of what was going on. Why would anyone put their dog through this? My money is better spend leaving my dog at home and hiring a dog walker to come mid day. Such a huge disappointment after years and years of a great experience here. read more

My puppy loves Ruff Housing and her tail begins to wag as soon as we arrive in the parking lot! When we arrive in the door, I don't have to say anything--the staff immediately recognizes her and call her by name. We've been going there for over a year and will soon be boarding her for a week. We trust Ruff Housing to take good care of her. The staff is competent and friendly even when I call because I don't see her on the live video. They immediately tell me where she is. First off, let me say I've taken my dog to Ruff Housing many times over the past couple years and I have always been happy with their service! I've trusted them to groom, board, and have my dog there for their daycare services as well. The staff has always been very friendly and great all around. However, I don't believe I will be returning to Ruff Housing anytime soon. Today I took my dog there for a full groom and they let a new groomer, whose name I believe is Rachel, do my dogs haircut. She was there for about four hours, and I got a call telling me she was ready. When I came to pick her up, they told me she did well and told me the price for the groom. I paid and waited while they went back to get her. When they brought her back out only then did they tell me that the new groomer had accidentally nicked my dogs neck with the clippers. They acted like it was completely fine and didn't offer to take anything off the price or anything. I would usually not be so upset, and honestly given my past experience with this business I would have normally let it go, but their whole attitude about the situation bothered me. I honesty don't think I'll be coming back to a place that disregards me and my pet so easily. A phone call to tell me what happened, telling me before trying to get money out of me, or offering a more sincere apology doesn't seem, at least to me, too much to ask. read more

We've been taking our two dogs here for a few months now. The facility is great and while it's not cheap it's reasonable for the care you get. The two dogs we have are a German Shorthair Pointer and a Boykin Spaniel- two high energy breeds. The amount of exercise and play they get in a day is enough to bring them home and almost straight to sleep! My dogs are always well balanced and happy when I pick them up. Buyer Beware - We have two small terrier dogs (10 lbs, less than 1year and 12 lbs, 2-years) that we wanted to socialize and potentially board overnight when needed. In order to allow your dog the ability to use daycare or overnight boarding they need to be "evaluated". During our first visit they were well cared for and spent almost the entire time paying and running around with the other dogs and were well attended to. We watched them on the live cameras and they were having a great time. We were so pleased we decided to prepay for 10 full days and 10 half days of daycare to split between both dogs. Since our younger dog was less than 1-year old and he was not yet neutered we were told he will be in the "specialized" play group. While in this group we were told the dog will not be out to socialize as much as the other group play, and we were okay with this and felt with all the fun he had the first time that this would be okay. The first half day of daycare we did not see our younger dog out for more that 30 minutes and when we inquired at pickup, we were told that this is because he is in the "specialized" group and in addition Toni (manager) said "we must not have seen him on the cameras that day because he was out". When you drop off from 7:30 to 12:30pm you would expect more that 30 minutes of socialization since we were told at time of purchase we would have at least 1-hour of socializing per half day daycare. Several weeks later we brought both dogs back for the second daycare visit at 7:30am. Since we were told that we must not have seen him out the first time we carefully watch the cameras for our younger dog to be out and playing. We watched all morning and he was not out at all. By 10:30am he was still not out and called to see when he would be out. (Note that when you call you do not get directly to the facility. You get a central number and they are reluctant to put you through to the facility were your dog is located. We sat on hold for at least 5-10 minutes this day waiting to speak with someone) When someone finally got on the phone we were told he would be out by 11:00am. Keep in mind he has been crated since 7:30am (no potty break) on a day we wanted to give him socialization. By the time we picked them up at 12:00 noon he was still not out. He spent the entire morning crated. To make matters worse, on this same day our credit card was charged for 2-half days, even though we had a prepaid plan and had to call to get the charge removed adding to the frustration. After speaking to the person at the front desk at pickup they admitted they goofed and he should have been out by this time. When we asked about the lack of socialization and play, we were reminded he was less than 2-years old and not yet neutered and they do not stay out long. Unfortunately he had zero time out this day This is not daycare. This is called crate care without a potty break. This is not what we signed up for. Since we pre-purchased a package, Toni (manager) finally agreed to refund the unused full days leaving us with 8-half days still unused that expire after 6-months if unused. Today we had a need to keep our older dog in daycare and tried to use 2-half days of credit for 1-full day of day care. (we understood we would pay more doing it this way). We were told that could not be done. We have a nearly $150 credit with this company and cannot use this and will have to pay again while our credit is not usable. This does not make sense. After speaking with Toni we did not feel this was a customer friendly company. All we ask that if you will not let the dogs out to socialize that we know this up front. If you cannot use your prepaid credit when needed that we are told this upfront. We now have a prepaid plan that cannot be used and will expire soon. Our advice is buyer beware. You will be promised many things that you will not get. In addition do not buy the prepaid plans because you will get an uncaring response. read more

After reading below reviews am glad we didnt continue to board our baby in ruff housing. we went for first day orientation, handed over our puppy. Lady at front desk dragged my puppy in leash . I was very worried and didnt feel right . My husband convinced me saying dragging is not a big deal they will take a good care , he will have fun playing with other dogs . we dropped him @9am and called them 5 times every hour to know which playroom he is in. everytime we got the response that a specialist is yet to come yet to evaluate bla bla . Then we kept checking all the playrooms to see if we can find him. same as one of the reviews below my puppy was seen in camera only for 30 mins . i think they were put in kennel the remaining time . anyways didnt get any call or update from them , when we called also not a responsible answer . finally they made my husband also worried and we picked him up the same day at around 2ish . our puppy was very unhappy . we know that becas we use to take him to doggos in gso and he is usually very excited and happy . if someone treats thier dog like thier own baby then i wudnt recommend ruff housing. some ppl do treat dogs like pets , for them ruff housing will work . one is not better than other . we just cudnt leave him there read more

My husband had a recent health scare and we thought that he would require hospitalization, it was completely out of the blue and so called Ruff housing to see if it was possible to have our dog Maggie spend the night. I received the most comforting response "don't worry about a thing, just bring her when you get chance and we will take care of her." I can't begin to tell you what a relief it was to hear that! We have been taking Maggie to Ruff Housing for over a year now and I cannot begin to describe how much of a relief it is to have the knowledge that she is being taken care of by caretakers who consider her family. Both of my dogs LOVE this place. We do daycare and grooming and have always been overall pleased. The only time I wasn't happy is when my dog was snipped being groomed and I wasn't told. I called the next day and they were very apologetic and told me how to care for it, etc. and it didn't happen again the time after. This is a great great place! read more

We have been bringing our pup here for about two years. He is always excited when we pull up to Ruff Housing!! We typically do a half day of doggy day care or if we have to go out of town we do the sleepover. Our dog hates being alone in a kennel so the sleep over is perfect for him! Being in another room with all dogs and a person makes us feel like he will actually get some love and cuddles while we are away.
