this store is awesome . I know them and their products, the return policy, coupons etc. the managers are great as well. we shop here all the time and they price match as well also. we have never ever ever had a problem with any of the staff ever. If they make a mistake they sure have made up for them and compensate with other. They go out of their way to help their customers. Above and beyond to help in all ways . Like I said we never had a problem especially fostering dogs, trying different foods different kinds of brands . Plus they have help us with the convenience of being less than 1/4 mile away from home . Many rescues later we shop here plus our locals also! I drive all the way from Hampstead to this location because of how well they groom my husky German shepherd. They love him and are always so great with him, however I know them being short staffed leads to them having longer wait times and often times they are not the friendliest. But my pup is always soft, happy, and well groomed! read more

It's kinda weird that you only offer treats to the dogs you like? My dog was sweet and behaved wonderfully and you were rude to me and offered every dog that came through the checkout line except for my dog. I like this store, its small, but they still have a huge variety of stuff. They host the greyhound rescue at least 6 times a year, and usually donate a shopping cart full of stuff for our rescue. They also have a lot of special events with free goodies. read more

My sister works here. We had an appointment at 1:15pm but arrived 45 minutes early due to driving from Jacksonville NC and factoring in traffic on a Saturday. We dropped our Shepard/Collie off at 12:30. After waiting 4 hours we decided to walk in and get a status update. 4 hours and all our Shollie had done was a bath and was in the process of drying. We specifically requested my sister as she is passionate about her job. She is gentle with all dogs and ensures that clients get their moneys worth and then some. After waiting 5 hrs the grooming leader personally decided that they no longer wanted to service our dog and sent us home. Apparently us watching them through the windows made them uncomfortable. We were curious why we never seen our dog on the table after 4.5 hrs. Leadership at this location stated my sister lacked time management which is impossible as she assisted 3 other dogs during the duration of us waiting. The grooming manager Bree was rude, lacked empathy and absolutely disgusting. We inquired why we were being sent home after patiently waiting 4.5 hours for our grooming. There response, we don't have time. Yet they were still open for another hour and a half. After a fools response of no longer servicing us we asked for the store manager. The store manager had us waiting 15 minutes while they conversed with the grooming dept. Customer service comes first, that conversation should have taken place after speaking with us. The store manager lied to our face saying my sister took 6 hours to groom one dog. Again my sister had 3 different dogs that day as we checked in frequently curious what is taking so long. This customer experience was so frustrating there was no point in speaking with them anymore and we walked out. 7 hours out of our day with an appointment wasted to later find out we got banned. I'm sorry, they ban customers for expressing their frustration in a professional manner? Check the cameras, 08/13/2022, gentleman in all white wearing a fadora. You will see that no scene was made. Did I mention I am a loyal petsmart member? This stores leadership lacks empathy, honestly and customer satisfaction. Even another lady said it was a mistake bringing our dog here to be groomed. After reading several other poor reviews at this location, clearly this needs to be addressed. Corporate needs to have this looked into immediately. read more

Do NOT take your dog to get groomed here under any circumstance! I took my shih tzu here today and made a GIANT mistake. When I dropped him off, a lady went over everything with me and felt his tail and ears. She said he had mild matting in the back of the ear that they would have to cut out, but "I'd never see it because it is in the back." I attempted to pick him up like told three hours after his appointment time and was informed it would be an hour later. When we did pick him up, his ears had been completely shaved! He is a shih tzu. He had long ears. When I informed the check out clerk, she told me she would tell the manager. I said I wanted to see the manager. She would not come out of her office, but gave her keys to the girl to refund me my money. No one ever apologized. It is clear no one cares about their jobs in this place. The person who cut my dog's hair took the absolute laziest least work possible way of cutting his hair. The worst before and after photos ever..... read more

I'd give this place zero stars if I had the option. My mom just put her cat to sleep yesterday and we saw a cat in the adoption center that looked just like her fur baby, same markings and everything. So we asked the guy at the register if we could get in the car room to get a closer look. To which he rudely replied that we weren't allowed in there because that was for people who were actually going to adopt the cats. Obviously we were looking to adopt. He then turned to another guy and with an attitude asked him to let us in to which that young man replied that it wasn't his job and he doesn't work in that area. We put all of our stuff back on the shelves and was walking out when my mom stopped and turned to the young man and told him he never knows what someone has gone through and he laughed and said he couldn't leave his register to do anything. Very unpleasant experience and I will never go back there. Completely disrespectful and lack of compassion. read more

Not a bad place. I love how it is smaller. It makes it much faster to find stuff in. The adoption center with the cats is quite nice. They always have new animals because they are adopted out so quick. The people there are very nice. I love how diverse it is. Though it may not have as many things as the main store on new center I do enjoy this one a bit better. The store is always so well keep and in a very nice orderly manner. The fish wall or "nook" is so beautiful. It always has crystal clean wetter when,i come in once or twice a month. The goldfish are always my favorite to look at as I have some of my own at home. Which reminds me if you ever need to know something about your reptile or small Pet or fish, dog, or cat you can ask them and they can most likely tell you what you need to know. Just had he worst experience at the groomer's. They've apparently staffed the facility with people who don't like dogs, or at least not in a professional capacity. I live in Durham, and about once every three weeks I take my now 7 month old maltipoo to the petsmart there for a bath and/or groom. He's also been to another Wilmington location and one in Charlotte, and every time he gets at least a "feet face and fanny" trim, nail grind, and teeth cleaning, and he always gets great "pawgress" reports. In fact, he's often such a hit with the groomers that I come back to find that they've made his bandana into a cute little bow, they're snuggling with him, showing him to other workers... just going the extra mile and I always leave with a huge smile on my face! This did NOT happen at the Mayfaire location. Things first started to fall apart when Justice, the sweet but apparently "not actually a groomer," groomer called me at 2:22pm to pick him up. I arrived at about 2:40pm to find that my dog was not actually finished. What had they been doing all that time? But they told me that by the time I finished paying (the rather exorbitant fee of 44.99 to wash a 5 pound dog), they'd have his face done. I came back to find that the two groomers (a young female who looked to be about 12 years old and a middle aged man who was not wearing the blue Petsmart shirt) had started on two other dogs. Justice was nowhere to be seen and did not reappear until I was leaving. The worst part about this was that even while I was standing there watching them, they were saying stuff to the dogs like "stop moving, you little jerk" and "don't make me cut you!" It was unpleasant and angry and demeaning and I can't even begin to imagine what they must say when dog-moms aren't watching. The other terrible thing that happened during this interval is that they hooked my dog up to the base of a table so that he could run around... directly into piles of cut fur and other dogs' poop. After he'd just had a bath?! Now he's dirty again with the filth of other dogs! Gross, and not okay! Finally, they get to my dog. He's all riled up now from being left alone on the floor and squirms when they try to cut his face. I offered to hold him, which, because I know my own dog pretty darn well, I knew would help calm him down. The guy told me that "no, he probably just senses you and you need to leave." I left and came back, again, to find out that "he's just too young, I can't do this. It isn't safe and would have been a freebie anyway." Despite the fact that now he's had this done about 7 or 8 times in his life and always does great, suddenly he's "not well behaved." I asked to speak with a manager, whose name is Justin and is maybe 23 years old, who basically just said there was nothing he could do and to try again when the dog is older, and that the package I'd selected didn't come with a trim anyway. He just could not be bothered to care. Then the groomer (the old dude in his street clothes) comes walking over to defend himself and to reiterate that he was under no obligation to trim my dog's face and that he was just too young for it. Both of them just stood there, shrugging their shoulders and acting like I'd caused them some major inconvenience by asking them to do the job I'm paying them quite handsomely to do. Oh, and to top it all off, they didn't give him his cute little bandana, barely washed him (I can't smell shampoo, but to be fair his fur does feel a bit softer), and didn't brush the fur around his neck, head, or tail. I left feeling like I wanted to cry because they'd just treated my dog like he was a nuisance rather than the part of my family he truly is. Maybe I'm crazy, but he is an incredibly meaningful part of my life and I know I'm not the only person in the world who feels like her dog is her child to be protective of. Petsmart, please hire someone at this location who actually likes their job. I've never written a review on yelp before, let alone one with one star, because it's rare for something to be so grossly mismanaged in so many ways. Consumers, beware. Find a cheaper and more loving location for your pet to be taken care of. *I will say that the blonde girl running the first cash register was sweet, polite, and enthusiastically helpful. She is the type of employee I was wishing I saw in the salon! There was also another person working the register who offered to give me a bonus coupon which was really nice, and I appreciated that! read more

I have visited this location several times and it's a hit or miss. But this evening at about 6:00 pm I arrived ready with my dog Mason for a routine nail clipping which I must I say she is a handful and is completely terrified of the process. But the 2 gentleman and woman (whom I did not get catch their names but wish I would have) in the grooming department were absolutely wonderful. Very friendly and caring for Mason knowing that she has a severe fear of getting her nails clipped. I would highly recommend this location (especially if they are working). We both left with smiles on our faces and we can't wait to come back next time! Thanks again! Oh and her nails are absolutely perfect! read more

I went in a tried to buy a 31 cent fish for a Mother's Day present and was unable to make the purchase due to lack of customer service. I went to ask for assistance with getting the gold and the cashier was unnecessarily rude and the fish attendant was incompetent. You will never catch me in this store again, even for the most basic pet needs. Mother's Day is tomorrow and I don't have a gift for my mom, thank you Petsmart. read more

Today I had an appointment for my dog to be groomed. The young lady informed me that according to the records on the email copy on my phone from my vet in Florida that his shots had expired in 2015. I told her no that's when they were given. She disagreed telling me she had worked with vets and knew what she saw. She asked her supervisor who said they were given in 2014 and just expired in January. I left without my pet getting groomed. I called my vet in Vermont to make an appointment for shots as I am headed there next as they were so insistent his shots had expired and I was concerned that I was wrong and he was overdue. MY vet's office informed me that I was correct. My dog had gotten his shots in 2015 and they wouldn't expire til 2018. Needless to say I wasn't pleased. I am glad that I called my vet immediately so at least I know he is protected and now I will either have to wait for him to be groomed or find another place to do it. read more
