Lots of dog food to choose from
Gemini U.

I came in to see if I could find some dog food that doesn't have all the fillers like to well known brands at your local store. There were rows and rows of different types and brands of dog food that I had never heard of. Prices were on the expensive side. My head was swimming with all the choices. Of course there wasn't any customer service around to help if you had a question. Pretty uneventful. I was able to check out quickly, even though there was only one register being used, because there wasn't any customers in the store.

I am not a pet owner but took my kids in to see the pets there last week. We were looking at the cats and two of them were named curse words (minus one letter). I told a worker and she said she didn't see the problem but would talk to someone about it. I am not a cat lover but I felt for these poor animals, being treated unkindly. Not impressed with their level of professionalism or common decency.

Absolutely amazing! Our dog was a pain about his nails being cut, had a very bad experience at a vet. They put up with his squirming and crying and got through it! His nails look amazing and we couldnt be happier. They definitely know what they are doing!

I just wrapped up a 6-week training program with Dogtown's head trainer, Makenzie and had such an…read moreamazing experience. I have a timid, sometimes reactive and aggressive dog, who needed a lot of help with training. After an hour consultation with Makenzie, we decided to do three day & train sessions where my dog would go to their facility for a half day of training one on one with Makenzie, three at home 1:1 sessions in my dog's natural environment, and three hour long group classes. The amount that I learned in these 6 weeks was absolutely mind blowing. Training your dog is about practice and consistency, and speaking your dog's language, and Dogtown gave me the confidence and the knowledge to be able to train my dog on my own. The day & train opportunities were a wonderful way to start. Makenzie would train my dog 1:1 and then would send me videos about everything they worked on during their sessions. When I came to pick her up, Makenzie would show me what they worked on and how I could practice it at home. The training sessions in my own home were incredibly helpful as well. It gave me time to practice with my dog(s) in their natural environment and refreshers on what we had already learned, and building upon the skills she was learning. The group sessions were amazing for my dog, and any dog, to have an opportunity to practice in a new, overstimulating environment with other dogs that she doesn't know. Since she is apprehensive around other dogs, this was amazing practice for her. On top of everything else, the team is so friendly and kind, and the trainers are so knowledgable. I had the chance to take a group class with their trainer Maren and she was wonderful as well. Thank you to the team for teaching both me and my dog the skills to be better trained.

I've been taking my dogs to VCA for almost 10 years and have really appreciated the patience and…read morekindness they've had with my anxious older dogs and my reactive youngest dog. While their pricing does tend to be a bit higher than other vets I've looked at, the fact that they don't treat my dogs like they're just inconveniences makes a huge difference for me and makes it worth paying a little more. They have always been so understanding and never make me feel guilty that my dogs sometimes require a little extra patience. While working through reactivity I've brought my Australian shepherd in multiple times without an appointment to do some training in the lobby and the front desk staff have always been so nice about offering to take him into the back to help with his training! We've seen a couple different vets over the years, and while we still miss Dr. Maloof, all the other vets have been great.

If you enjoy being given the run around in an unprofessional environment, while also paying…read moreexorbitant prices for veterinary services, then this VCA is definitely for you. I came to this VCA after having brought my dogs to various VCA locations in different states throughout the past several decades. VCA used to be known for caring front desk service and compassionate veterinarians. However, this location in the middle of the SL valley is so busy that it seems that most of the people who work at this location have forgotten how to be kind and communicative to pet parents during vet visits. At my first experience here, my dogs and I sat in an exam room for over an hour. I asked multiple times during the hour when we would be seen or if we should make another appointment. Instead of realizing that communication would be helpful, I was treated rudely when I asked how much longer we would be waiting, or if I should make another appointment. While I can understand that some exams might take more time, and emergencies can happen, communication from the staff could go a long way. Instead, I was made to feel as though waiting should be expected and my schedule is not as important as any of the people working here. I should have taken my first experience as a sign of things to come. However, I gave this location multiple opportunities. One of my dogs is about 10 and has arthritis in his spine and hips. At his most recent appointment in June, I asked if we needed bloodwork to be done due to the meds we were trying for him. The vet said no, and we received an email that my dog would not have to be seen for another year. A few weeks after our June appointment, the vet we had been seeing left. When I contacted him to renew the prescriptions he said he would renew, he told me he heard I was going to stay at this location, even though this is not what I had decided. At this location, Dr. Neville would not help my dog unless I had a $500 blood test. The only other bloodwork available was $280. After a month of back and forth as well as being ignored for weeks at a time from both veterinarians, I have decided to bring both of my dogs elsewhere. VCA is the most expensive place to take your pets for many routine tests. They do not appreciate you having things done outside of their practice, or ordering medicine elsewhere. This location and Dr. Neville were dismissive and unwilling to work with me to help my dog despite me suggesting I bring him in to be seen again after his June appointment. While I understand the importance of bloodwork for my dogs if on medication daily, this practice was unwilling to realize that we had just had our yearly exam and were told we did not need bloodwork done. I had asked Neville if we could possibly wait a month or two for bloodwork since I had just paid for graduate school tuition at the U, and this was not acceptable to him. Having never asked for understanding at the vet, this was even more upsetting. I am always willing to pay for what my dogs need at the vet. I was not interested in looking for a new vet at this time in my dog's life, but I refuse to continue going to this VCA when their lack of communication and understanding results in my dog's needs not being taken care of appropriately. This experience has shown me that first impressions really make all the difference, and communication is key to any relationship in health care for humans and pets!
