The employee working today was super sweet & greeted myself and my pooch, even though he wanted no parts of the treats she was trying to give him. At the register there is a clearance bin with an extra 50% off already marked down items. Outside there is a lot of area to walk your dog and trash areas, though there weren't trash bags in the main doggy trash stop aka giving people reason enough to not pick up their poop. read more

Of the four PetSmart stores that I frequent, this one is the biggest with the largest selection of items. It is strategically located on the corner of Virginia Beach Boulevard and N Plaza Trail Road. Just to the east, across Plaza Trail, is the Sam's Club Warehouse. Parking is plentiful. Employees are friendly. It is evident that they are dog lovers, which warms a doggie Mother's heart. Not only does PetSmart (Rosemont) have grooming and veterinary sections, they also offer adoptions, obedience training, doggie day care and a pet hotel. I have to admit to have caused 'slight' disruptions in obedience classes. There's something about my nearby presence that tells dogs that I'm a friendly face. Dogs can sense true dog people. My golden girl has eaten the PetSmart brand Simply Nourish her entire life. She loves it, as do her visiting doggie friends. My previous next door neighbor's dog would come to my deck door, wanting Lillie to come out and play. But before playtime he would always eat her bowl of Simply Nourish. Prior to the recent "Grain Free" dog food health warnings, she always ate Grain Free Chicken, Peas & Potatoes. After checking with my Vet, who confirmed the possible health risk of Grain Free food (especially for Golden's), I switched to Chicken & Brown Rice. My baby and her canine friends like it equally well. Simply Nourish is a high quality dog food. Since my Golden Girl is large, she and her dinner guests require the largest size bags of food. The store employees will always volunteer to take my purchase to the vehicle. But there remains the task of dragging the bag into the house. I have to admit to sometimes ordering two large bags at a time from PetSmart.com. When you walk past the dog food aisles you can easily find your preferred brand by the brand signs that face the center aisle. This eliminates you having to walk down each aisle. Much appreciated PetSmart.... The selection of incidentals such as collars, treats, leashes and such is excellent. Since my dog is an aggressive chewer, a large selection is appreciated. It requires a thorough examination of the offerings, else she will swallow a chew almost whole or rip up a toy in less that a minute. It really isn't a good thing when she does this and swallows the squeaker whole. Dog beds, crates, and just about anything are in large supply. I'll have to admit to a lack of knowledge regarding the product offerings for other types of pets. But I would assume they are as equally plentiful as for canines. Most people bring their pets into the store to shop, which adds to the ambience. A Rewards program is offered. Bring your card in for scanning each time you purchase. Thank you PetSmart (Rosemont). This review is for the PetsHotel. I was happy to find overnight boarding for my pup. The pets hotel is located all the way in the back of the store. There is plenty of parking and but not too much grass area around the store for dogs to relieve themselves. The young lady at the counter was friendly, was kind to my pup, and seemed to love her job there. I liked that she let me state my anxiety of leaving my pup for a couple of nights. The kennels were of small/average size and they gave my pup a cot to sleep on because he is a chewer. They also provide dog food of your choice so you don't need to bring any You are welcome to bring your dog's bed and select toys for you pet. I signed my pup up for Doggie Day Camp. They have different activities for the dogs during camp, it is all indoors. You can either do a full day or a half day. I also signed him up for special treats (a peanut butter filled kong and and ice cream). He also received an exit bath and nail trim the day I was to pick him up. I like that they have package deals for all of this so it was actually affordable! During my pup's stay I called each day to check on him, I was pleased to have an honest update on how he was doing. My pup, although a large breed, is still a puppy, I'm glad he ended up in doggie day camp with the smaller breeds. They were able to recognize his anxiety and placed him appropriately. They also added wet food to his dry food when he lost his appetite from being away from home. Upon pickup, the Pets Hotel staff had nothing but good things to say about my pup and she helped me choose a collar so my pup would pull less, it has worked wonders! The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the size of the doggie day camp area. There is a large dog room and a small dog room. There was about 10 large dogs all in one small room and they all appeared to be anxious to get out, the girl in the room did not have a smile on her face, wasn't interacting with the dogs except for using a spray bottle to spray one dog when I assume he was misbehaving. I will assume she was having a bad day and hopefully the dog handlers are more friendly with the dogs. The other room with the small dogs seemed to be the same size with fewer pups in it and the girl in there appeared to be interacting nicely with the dogs. I didn't see any activities for the dogs going on but it could have been due to the time I arrived. If I have to, I will board my dog here again. read more

We hope to have the groomer see her again not sure about the others. very happy :) and when purchasing puppy supplies the gal at the register informed us of their puppy book for $20 and with purchasing that we saved on our dog food and the groom, even with the extra $20 purchase we still saved money :) very happy experience here today all around. read more

I will do everything in my power not to purchase from this store in the future. I'd forgotten how much I disliked them after my furry friend passed away a couple of years ago. I just got two new furry friends and have purchased over $500 worth of food, litter, toys, grooming items, and cat litter boxes at this location over the past month. Without fail, I'm constantly followed around the store by employees. Every time I'm in an aisle, an employee comes over and pretends to shelve items so they can watch me - lol. It's absolutely ridiculous. Having worked in retail, I understand the issues regarding retail theft, but that's why you tag items and hire security guards to stand outside the door. I'll purchase my future supplies online from other pet vendors. My kittens need spaying and neutering... I'll go to a separate vet to get that taken care of, and any future needs they may have. If I could leave a negative star then I would. My dogs never had any issues nor health issues while having them. We had our 8 year old husky and almost 4 year old cane corso/ lab mix stay at the petsmart hotel for 3 days. After picking up we noticed our male dog has an extremely swollen scrotum and extremely rashed with both jowls swollen and seems bitten with bleeding sore on his back. When he returned home, he would stay under our table shaking. This is unlike any behavior he has ever done and the only people to blame is who he was with over the weekend. Was my first time at this PetSmart, mine is in north Maryland which is a very good pet friendly store. My wife and I dropped off our Shiba Inu Churro with the staff who said they were experienced with the breed. Churro was supposed to get a bath, comb out, and nails clipped. We were called three hours later and nothing was accomplished. I was very disappointed as he regularly gets this done at our normal store with no issues. The pet hotel.. My second time to leave my dog here for few days. It's few miles away from the oceanfront VA beach. The place is huge, clean and neat looking. Their rooms/ kennels comes in varied sizes.. Tho my dog is a toy poodle I always get the private dog suite which comes with it's own TV screen. They have a day care program for 3-7 H.. They also have the grooming salon and if your pets needs emergency care they have the in house Banfield Pet Hospital. The staff are friendly and efficient , you always see them okay with the dogs. I feel safe leaving my dog here.. You can Call them at anytime and visit your dog as well. I'm happy to always come here and recommend this place to everyone. I wouldn't recommend this location for grooming. I've gone to multiple locations in the petsmart chain, and this has been by far the worst. I took my labradoodle in for a groom a few weeks ago. I pride myself in brushing him multiple times a week to avoid matting. Unfortunately, in some places it can be unavoidable. It was at the point where they could be brushed out, but, the groomer assigned to him decided to shave him down completely. Which okay, that's one thing. However, she also shaved his ears and there were multiple wounds on the flat part of the year along with the tips. On both sides. Had to bring him in for an emergency vet visit that cost me $300 to get him ointment and antibiotics. read more

Grooming dept. always (ALWAYS) closes way before the posted time. You can't make an appointment online for a nail trim either so good luck. Be mindful these people don't come in until after 7am. Why set an appt for 7am for the groomer sans they don't come in until 10-15 mins later. Guess this place isn't big on coming in on time. To me ontime means a few mins before you have to open. C'mon then another 5-10 mins for them to get the computers on and going if and only if there aren't any issues with their system. Some people got attitudes from hell and I have no clue how to be polite like come on. If you ain't a morning person then don't pick up the morning shift. Smh read more

I am absolutely livid. I was walking though the store looking for something, and I just so happened to walk by the doggie daycare area. I was witnessed the staff member screaming at the dogs in her care and squirting the dogs with water. What kind of people run this place? From what I saw, the dogs in her care were playing around with one another, there was absolutely no reason for any of the behavior I witnessed. Please do not send your dogs here to be looked after. Every time I have come in the same girl is up on register and I love her!! She is always very friendly and asking if we need help finding something. She knows the products well I. The store and makes great suggestions on doggie treats to toys. I have not tried the grooming service yet but will soon. The bad thing about it though is the location is a bit inconvenient getting out. You can't make a left turn or a u turn. There's a lot of traffic right there so it nearly impossible to pull out of The store seems to be short staffed a lot. Every time I've come in there's a pretty big line at the register. So the one girl is working harder then she should but she has never let that affect her customer service. Another thing is they never seem to have a lot of the bully stick selection which I know is very popular. I put my 2 small dogs in there, I paid for 2 separate boarding like 2 separate rooms, and 2 days of daycare. What i found out that they put both of my dogs in one room. They gave them one bed to share. I seen a big dog next to them with no bed the poor doggy on the solid ground. As for day care the girl, she liked one dog that she was holding and playing with. As for the rest she didn't give them any care. I think she had 3 favorites and playing with the rest felt neglected. One dog came to me when i was in the window like play with me get my out of here. I will never send my dogs there again I paid around $140 for two doggies to be treated badly. Never again. read more

This is a great place to get things for cute dog Fluffy or for that anti-social kitty Whiskers. Once we got our bundle of joy, Hendrix, Petsmart was our first stop and pretty much our only stop. We are currently bringing our dog to training classes and they have been very good with the training and advice for caring for our puppy. The prices are middle of road and they carry just about everything you need for dogs, cats and fish, from what I've observed there isn't much for some of the more "exotic"/outside of the traditional pets. The Grooming department, Pet hotel and Banfield veterinary hospital are extra perks to the store. I definitely recommend getting the PetPerks card and get yourself some awesome deals on in-store items. read more

so i always come here cause it's so close to my house for my dog's food and grooming. first of all, their grooming area could be a little cleaner, however, i'm in love with how sweet they are to my puppy when she's getting her nails trimmed. Ari can be a little monster at times when going through the aisles (esp with the bones and toys), but the employees are always super sweet and very helpful. the service by every employee has always been great. read more

I really like many things about Petsmart. I like all the variety of products they offer with various discounts like the thing you put on your keychain and swipe and the register. I like that you can bring your dogs in on a leash and they even have clean up stations incase your doggy has an accident. They offer training for dog owners - oops I mean the dog ;) I like that you can adopt pets that come from the SPCA. read more

I stopped by here a couple times to drop my dog off while on vacation. All in all this is a pretty standard PetSmart however they have one of the nice updated hotels and the staff seem well trained and competent. When I picked up my puppy (8months old), from the PetSmart on Virginia Beach Blvd near South Plaza Road on Sunday, November 3rd , I got upset at how he was treated on his last day. I had visited this store on 2 different occasions going over the instructions for his 4 day/night visit. I arranged on his final day for a full day of play, which he was not given and had stayed in his cage the entire day until we picked him up at 1:30 PM. It was upsetting that they had a casual attitude about the "mixup". This girl (I don't know her name), said she was sorry, but she would follow the apology with excuses, blaming the mixup on someone else and the situation. Later when I spoke with my daughter, I found out that it was the same girl (tall girl with short red hair), who had made the mistake and was blaming it on someone else! Not only did she had a mistake, but she wouldn't take responsibility for the mistake---not a good person to be in charge of your dog's care. I will find another place to board my dog. read more

We thought bringing our dog to this hotel would be good for him to socialize with the other dogs but we don't need attitude from the workers and if they give us attitude, I can't imagine how they treat our pets. I visited the Pet Smart located on Virginia Beach Blvd and S. Plaza over the weekend. I wanted to pick up a few fish for my grandson. The salesperson asked about the size of the tank I had, I told her the size and I proceeded to tell her which fish I wanted. The next thing I know there is another person helping me and when I asked about the other fish I wanted, she said she refused to sell them to me because my fish tank was too small for the fish. The fish I wanted were Mollys. I have never been treated so badly. I would not recommend that store to anyone. I did a lot of my shopping for my pets at that store but I won't anymore. read more

Bogey, Mya and I go there quite often to their grooming area for their nail clippings. As many of you all know, Bogey was in a car accident years ago and requires special care with his back left leg. I'm skittish with taking Bogey to other places because I'm afraid they may not care for his bummed leg like the folks at PetSmart. It has taken a while for them to get into a groove with this pup though. After several visits someone finally added notes about his care requirements so I have no concern about dropping him (or Mya off) and taking a five minute tour with other pup through the toy aisle. One thing that annoys me a bit is that I've walked inside the grooming area a couple of times and co-workers continued to converse with each other for a few moments before greeting me. Treats at the checkout counter always makes for a nice way to walk out in style. read more

Review of Petsmart Grooming: We took our pup to Petsmart to be groomed about 4 or 5 months ago. Lindsay is the name of the woman who groomed our pup. We asked her to do our pup's hair, nails, ears, teeth- whatever needed to be done. Lindsay did an excellent job. The cut was absolutely adorable. We asked her to trim up around her face, belly, & legs, but keep her head fluffy. The cut was perfect & her hair was silky soft. This is the 1st dog I have ever owned, so I didn't know what to expect of a groomer. I was a bit concerned about taking my dog to be groomed at Petsmart; I was hoping for some type of posh grooming salon... But I took our puppy to Lindsay again for a 2nd time just last week & she did an awesome job again. In between the 2 visits to Petsmart I took my puppy to some place in Hilltop & they were horrible- mean, rude, & they SHAVED my puppy when I just asked for a trim. So, I've decided to stick with Petsmart; however, I'll only send my pup to Lindsay. I know she does a good job, so we're not going to chance it with someone else! The only negative I've encountered so far- they do keep our pup, Gracie, for 3 hours. read more

We regularly take our yorkies to get groomed. The last couple of times they came home very stressed. We went in today for their appointment needless to say I was very disappointed. The lady at the desk was on the phone and never acknowledged us. The place smelled terrible and was filthy. Our poor dogs were shaking, so after 10 minutes of waiting we left. My husband and I had a horrendous experience here. We boarded our dog at this location around Christmas time to later get him back with cuts, missing skin, and missing hair. He is a friendly dog towards strangers and other dogs so we were baffled when he snapped and bit us. He was terrified. We do not know what happened, but they did something to him that traumatized him. I took pictures as evidence of abuse. I adopted a cat from the humane society and needed her to be groomed asap so I made an appointment with Tammy (the manager and head cat groomer) online the night before I wanted to take her in. The next day I received a call while I was at work from Tammy saying the appointment was made too late in the day and she can only groom my cat if I bring her an hour earlier. I told her due to my work schedule I might not be able to come in early. She told me I would need to reschedule for another day then. (But why even make the options for an appointment time so late if the store is not willing to do the service at that time?) I talked with my boss and left work early to make it within the time frame she gave me. I left my cat in a carrier in their care. When I got the call that my cat was ready to be picked up, I came immediately. Tammy did not shave her sanitary area or clean her ears which are standard services included with thier cat grooming. However my cat was already in her carrier so I did not notice until I got home. My cat literally had feces hanging from her butt and they said she had been cleaned. When I called to complain Tammy said "not everyone wants that service so I didnt do it." WHY WOULD I BRING IN A CAT TO BE GROOMED IF I WANTED HER BUTT TO BE COVERED IN POOP? Tammy, please be more respectful of peoples time and money. You are dealing with peoples most precious friends and not fufilling your responsibility. You just wanted to leave work early. If you want a service to be done well, try another groomer. Here they have no standards read more

I love the doggie day camp. I have an 120+ lb English Mastiff puppy that needs to play with dogs his size so he doesn't accidentally hurt anyone. The staff is so sweet to him, always remember his name and he prances to back with them each time we go. He gets a report card each time on his day. His time at day camp has greatly improved his social skills with people and dogs in a way I couldn't pull off on my own with three kids. I felt guilty dropping him off there the first time but now it feels like Christmas every time he gets to go. Today he attended the Halloween party and has been knocked out ever since. Good way to wear out a giant playful puppy!!! read more

Took my dog in for a standard bath, nails and ears. Was told 2 hours over the phone then 1 hour when I dropped off. They called me within 20 mins staying my dog was done. Right away I knew something wasn't done because when I dropped off the ladies were complaining about a guy. When I picked my dog up he doesn't look white like would right after a bath smells just the same as before so maybe he was just rinsed off. Ears and nails not done. I'm not sure what went on within that 20 mins but I just ended up getting dirty wet dog back. This experience was unprofessional, ghetto and I do not trust them with my dog anymore! I will not be returning not even more dog food to this location! read more

I wish i could rate their dog boarding with zero stars because this place is a nightmare. For the record our dog is a pointer/ lab mix. We signed up for our dog to have extra group play time, upon arrival the short haired woman told us our dog could not play with the other dogs because she "resembles" a pit bull. SHES NOT A PIT BULL, it even says so on her paper work. Not only that but seriously you don't allow pit bulls/ dogs that look like them to play with other dogs for NO reason other than their breed. These people are suppose to have a general knowledge about dogs yet are pushing the completely debunked stigma that pit bulls are born aggressive. I am absolutely disgusted with the entire corporation for allowing such ignorance and i will never bring my dog there again and neither should you. read more

We love this Petsmart & Pet Hotel! Our dog goes to the doggie day camp and she has boarded there on several occasions. She never comes home nervous and they are always patient with me calling to check on her. The facilities are super clean and the people who work there are great! Dropped my dog off for boarding and requested a bath and nail trim... everything seemed fine except when I go to pick him up I'm greeted and advised that they were unable to give him a bath or trim his nails due to his behavior. Great! My pup is in desperate need for a nail trim and out of all the places I go this is the first time I'v ever been told my dog was uncooperative! The whole reason he stayed was for the grooming.
