The following is a review regarding the Petsmart PetsHotel. Our online reservation wasn't being validated so we went in person to confirm. The staff member we interacted with was very nice and helpful. He showed us the example rooms and we made our selections. The private suite seemed best, maybe a little small, but better than the side-by-side accommodations with unknown dogs. We were verbally quoted a price and then set for our upcoming trip. On check-in day we did not see the same employee, though the person we dealt with was very nice and patient with our dog. She even let us know exactly what type of toys we could leave. While on our trip we received a picture of our dog, which was very nice as she seemed to be smiling! Really the biggest issue we had was the total being almost $100 more than verbally quoted. The paper they presented to us at check out was their copy, we could only take a picture of it. It did not list a breakdown of the price. The Manager immediately came over, as she was on site, but she basically asked about the total we were given - which can be difficult to recall after you've been traveling all day and it was only verbally said to you. She then looked at the computer screen without saying a word and said the amount was correct. It was an odd interaction... We really liked the convenience of their location and the options they offered, however the experience with the price and their reactions ended everything on a sour note. The communication could just use some work - for example, if we had been given the quote in writing to begin with (instead of verbally) it would have helped A LOT. There have also been some bad habits our dog picked up after staying at Petsmart, though we understand it's bound to happen. Overall, we might board at Petsmart again but next time we will probably consider other places first. read more

We love this Petsmart as it has everything for a pet. Dog sitting for my sister we came to get a few things. A place where dogs can socialize without being on social media. Sales are good this time of year and stock in plenty. Fun fact: you can buy for a kid in Asheville this Christmas when you checkout. This location is good for all your pet needs. read more

I got negative points when I got a refund for the training classes. I liked the beginner class but once I became the only customer for the advanced class the trainer brought the training sessions down from 1 hour to 20 minutes. When I asked for my money back for the classes I didn't attend they started making excuses, which I did not appreciate at all. Once I got my refund back the points I had accumulated disappeared and turned into negative points. Now I go to PETCO for now. I used to love the service I got here but now I feel awkward and not welcomed into the store as I once was. read more

I just had the worst experience ever at this PetSmart. I bought food and discovered that it was covered in maggots and infested. They did not have the same size bag to replace it with, so I asked for a discount on the 4 pound bag, because it's $20 as opposed to $60 for the 30lb bag. They refused to offer me any sort of discount, and charge me full price for the small bag and now I have to wait days for the refund. The manager was not helpful at all, and did not address the fact that their food is infested. I am disgusted. I will never be coming back to this or any PetSmart read more

Used their grooming services 2 yrs ago but since changed policies where you need to leave your dog for 4 hours bc they work in 3-4 dogs at a time. I was unaware and couldn't stay past two hours and had to take my dog in the middle of their regular service. I was told by the manager that he was not finished and some trimming would need to be done. However when I got him home there were still dingleberries on his rear and a big bag of hair I took off. After two hours and paying full price for the groom, I expected more! He needed more than just a final trimming! Very sad when workers need to manage their manager! I'm not sure how a manager could let that quality of work go out the door. If they would have taken a few minutes more for trimming up or given me a discount, I wouldn't be posting this. I don't typically frequent Petsmart, because I tend to buy things online, but I decided to try their grooming after receiving an email with a coupon. Since when did grooming become more expensive than my own haircut!? Ha! But seriously, I have a rescue Shih Tzu, and he's 14.5 pounds, and costs range from $54-$58 for his grooming. So I get him cut short when he gets cuts to make it last longer, plus that way he doesn't get too hot. He looks like a completely different dog after he's groomed. I am always worried he's gaining weight, but when he gets cut, I can see that he's got a waistline. The grooming is busy here. I dropped him off at his appointment, and he was ready almost 5 hours later. That seems like a long time, but I guess Saturdays are probably a pretty popular day. They showed me a chart with different lengths of fur, so I could decide what blade should be used, and I asked for a teddy bear face. He seemed happy when I picked him up. He was definitely trimmed up nicely. He didn't smell badly, but some of the other more "boutique" dog salons tend to make him smell really good. They also put a bandana around his neck, or something decorative when he's done, which Petsmart is more a no-frills salon. As far as the products they have, they offer a great variety, but I will say I feel like their prices are a little steeper than some of the online places I use. But I know they are a company that gives back, and so I don't mind paying a little more here. The day I came the Easter Bunny was there, so you could get pictures with the Bunny with your dog or child. Unfortunately by the time I picked up, the bunny was done, but I did snag a picture with my daughter. I think the groom job was fine, and I'd use them again, but they wouldn't be my first choice. However, I love that offer charitable donations for pets. Their charity ensures more than 90 cents of every dollar goes directly to help pets in need. It made me feel good to contribute, and actually I wish I had donated more. Next time I will. read more

I've been taking my dogs to Petsmart hotel in Johns Creek GA for 9 years. That's right 9 years - every vacation, holiday - everything. Two dogs - day camp the whole bit. Yesterday was the last time. We tried checking our dogs in with a new person (assuming some level of management here as she never shared who she was). My husband brought in our first dog - 14 month husky mix. He'd been there six months ago and was perfectly fine. She was not welcoming and very cold. She was more interested in getting her paperwork done then greeting our puppy. She went to put the temporary collar on him and he growled at her. She immediately said per policy she would not take our puppy. I suggested I put it on him because the way she tried to do it was by looming over his head and putting it above his head which everyone knows is the wrong way to approach a dog you don't know. I explained I'd put the temporary collar on my other dogs sometimes when we'd checked in but she refused citing policy again. Then another male employee showed up (assumed must be manager although he never said anything or did anything) and only made the dogs more nervous by staring at them. No common sense that by adding in another stranger into the situation giving off more negativity was going to help. Woman continued to escalate by repeatedly saying policy wouldn't allow her to take the dog. Further attempts by then were futile and frankly half hearted. I remember when staff checking in were friendly and greeting both person and dog with a confident friendly approach. This woman gave off an anxious fearful vibe and had a nervous voice. Her over concern for her paperwork just extended the time our dogs got nervous. In the past the dogs were quickly whisked away while we completed the necessary paperwork. Also for years i filled the paperwork out myself but she insisted on verbally questioning us in that nervous tone while the dogs became more agitated. It is sad to me that we will never return here because our dogs loved it here. They received great care and i always knew they were taken care of - on two occasions we were called for vet care while they were boarded. We received pictures of our pets in day camp. All over because this woman is not the right fit for working with animals. If this is the training provided by corporate, it seems some people have taken away that policy and paperwork are the purpose not pets. read more

I ordered eye drops for my turtle from PetSmart online. When I picked them up at the Suwanee store, the box was wrapped in the receipt. (It was a small package, and the receipt was a full sheet of paper.) Before I left the store, I went to pick up something else, and I noticed the side of the box said "ear drops." When I unwrapped it it turned out that they gave me dog eardrops instead of turtle eyedrops. When I pointed it out to the clerk, she walked back to the aisle with me and said that they were out of the turtle drops and asked if I wanted to receive a refund. Of course I wanted a refund, since dog eardrops are not going help my turtle's eyes. I was upset that the website showed inventory when they were actually out of the product, but it was more disturbing that the employee/s in the store tried to give me a different, totally inappropriate product instead of calling me and telling me they were out. If this was an honest mistake, it was quite a big one. The reptile products are nowhere near the dog products. I had ordered the product after hours the night before, and they were not busy when I came in the next morning to get it, so I don't believe that contributed to the mistake. read more

The manager Dana was very rude in assisting me. She would not state her last name and I doubt if that was her real name because she had no name tag. She refused to come out the office when I requested to speak to her after a previous associate ignored me asking for help. After 20 mins of me waiting she finally comes out of the office minutes before the store closed to assist me and then denied selling me a pet fish due to the store hours. read more

I told them a consistent cut all over and the pics says it all my kids kept crying for almost 2 hours we love him a lot don't know what to say when we went back to show the bruises they said there is nothing and the other thing they said that they will charge me $130 for rectify the cut which they had spoiled .... Had a HORRIBLE experience here; I would not recommend this location to anyone if the on-duty manager for Tuesday, June 12, 2022 around 7pm EST continues to work there. The associates were aimlessly walking around and couldn't answer any questions and the manager couldn't explain what was missing/needed (new prescription code) on my puppy's prescription from the vet. The manager definitely doesn't care about animals at all and is only there for a paycheck; was not helpful and couldn't tell me what I should ask the vet for besides "the code." I called customer service twice while I was in the store to get my vet prescribed puppy food even though I was in store with prescription in hand: first time to email them my puppy's prescription and second time so they could confirm to the manager they approved it even though they'd told me the first time they approved and sent it to the store and I relayed the message. Customer service and the store manager were clearly not on the same page with the new code policy because there was no problem with customer service sending my online order over to the store approved. Also, if a store policy changes, it should be communicated with the customers beforehand. The store manager said the store policy changed a week ago but I haven't received an email or seen anything on the website about a code having to be added to prescriptions furthermore, the vets also do not know what code is needed because this happened to another customer while I was in the store who used a different vet. read more

Petshotel - we have used their boarding a number of times for our English Bulldog. We do the daily boarding plus pupcamp. Every time we have picked her up, she has slept for a full day. They wear her out!! They provide a fun camp report letting you know how she did sleeping, eating, playing, etc. they take extra care to make it fun. I know my dog is getting excellent care when she is there. She apparently has a great time too. She runs in when we get there and doesn't look back. Highly recommend. read more

I like Petsmart but not the grooming and will not be a repeat customer here. Took my dog for grooming and he came out 3 hours later smelling just as he went in, ear cleaning was included but looking in his ears there was still the same wax that he went in with. Some, not all nails are clipped, asked for the hypo shampoo and conditioner and my dog is itchier than ever. Called and was told "I'm sure I cleaned his ears" and "The hypo doesn't have a smell do you want cologne?" To top it off I was told I could bring him back! HA! Bring him back? I waited 3 hours for something I can do in 30mins and their the pros? She offered for me to speak with the manager and I declined and advised that I would not be returning. Has anyone called me back? NOPE. Such as waste of $20. The young lady that helped me had such a quiet timid voice and when there are clippers, grinders and other people talking you can't even hear her. After telling her I couldn't hear her she still didn't raise her voice. I paid for an upgraded package which was supposed to include a bandana and didn't even get that. read more

This review is for the pet hotel. Standard pet smart and banfield are adequate. The groomers were fantastic and I highly recommend them. The pet hotel was inadequate and we will not be using them again. 1) our small dog was extremely dirty on her return despite having had a bath just before being left there. They obviously are not walking the dogs enough and just leave them to do their business in their kennel 2) they did not feed our dog the food and dental treats we gave them for her. We could tell because her poop was super nasty and squishy on her return, but went back to normal after she had eaten her food a couple times. This despite telling us they would give her her food and dental treats. 3) they told us someone would be there 24/7, but when we called at 9pm to ask a question about our dog (who also went to the vet for a routine heartworm check during her stay) no one answered 4) our dog threw up not long after her vet visit, so they witheld her next meal. This is somewhat reasonable, but then they refused to let us see the notes they took during her stay and instead handed us an inane "pawgress report". Those notes would have been pretty helpful in figuring out why our dog threw up and whether she needed her meds readministered. I will say that our dog was not traumatized by her visit -- although she was holding her pee and had to be run right out to use the bathroom -- and willingly walked back in, so they aren't mistreating the dogs. But not mistreating dogs is a pretty low bar, especially for $35 dollars a night. read more

THEY INJURED MY DOG!!! I took my Maltese and Maltipoo for grooming and on top of doing a horrible and I mean really horrible job of the haircut - on top of THAT - I have just discovered my Maltipoo has a bad injury on his lower back! I have called several times asking to speak with Ashley the store manager and I am still waiting to hear back from her conclusively. She told me she needed time to review videos of the grooming process. My dogs were haphazardly and unevenly cut. They are beautiful animals with lovely soft white hair and PETSMART butchered the job. They basically cut everything off! The dogs were left with less than a centimeter (if that!) of hair with no shape or form to it. They basically just cut it ALL off real close. I asked them to specifically leave the dogs top knots untouched and my Maltese now has just a little left on top. Fortunately - or rather unfortunately considering his injury - whoever groomed my Maltipoo did not mess with his top knot hair which is about 3-4 inches long (thank goodness, it took 3 years to grow that length) but my Maltese ...I am speechless! Question: do PETSMART groomers know what each breed of dog is supposed to look like when groomed! It will probably take another 3 years to regrow my Maltese's top knot to look as full as it should. However the biggest problem is the injury to my Maltipoo. I am besides myself!!! No one told me that my dog had been injured. I feel terrible that I took my dogs there. Please everyone be warned DO NOT USE PETSMART GROOMERS. These are completely untrained and uncaring money grubbing people - they charged us nearly $150! - who masquerade as professional groomers but in reality are nothing of the sort. I think they will hire anyone - ANYONE - looking for a job regardless of whether they even want to be a groomer because the product they are selling is atrocious! It is just beyond me how they can take a beautiful pure bred Maltese and just cut all the hair off...unevenly. Maltese are famous for their hair, getting them groomed does not mean cutting all their hair off. Is that something I need to explain to what are supposed to be "professional groomers?" Please google "PETSMART dog grooming injuries" and you will realize that this enterprise is nothing but a money making venture with no dedication to animals. I have had my dog groomed here for years but no more. I had an appointment today and granted we had an unusual day with snow in Georgia but by the time of the appointment the roads were fine! I got the at 11:00 am and found the groomer was not there. The manager was called and told me they were waiting to hear from her since she was "snowed in". I asked why I was not notified and I drove there without being informed. The manager never answered. I told him that was not good business practice to have a call out and not let people know. I have used this Pet Smart Pet Hotel and Doggy Day Camp for many years. Laura and her team are awesome and my Syberian Husky loves to go there and play. The staff is very efficient and courteous and I know that when I leave my dog for any amount of time that she will get attention and have a good time. She is always exhausted when she comes home. We love this pet hotel! We have boarded our pup about 5 times now at this location and we always have a great experience. Every time we drop our puppy off she gets so excited when she recognizes the workers! They give her so much love and attention from the moment she arrives to the minute we pick her up. They always tell us that when they walk past her cage, she's standing on her two legs, tail wagging so they can't resist picking her up or even walking her around the cages while they do their inspection at night. I love that they go the extra mile with Mila and makes it so much easier for us to drop her off knowing that she's excited and has a good time. I can tell that she gets what we paid for AND MORE in terms of play time etc. We received a call on her last visit that they had to take her to the vet as she was being sick through the night. They dealt with it brilliantly and kept us updated. I also want to salute the groomers - We really struggle to get her bathed at home so having the team there do it within our time restraints and busy schedules is a blessing. I've never managed to get bows on her at home so I know how hard they must work. Either that or they can just calm her much better than us. Her haircuts are always what we ask for and we love the work they do on her. Love the team here - always going above and beyond. Our pups bed was not washed in time for her going home this time round so they actually just gave us a new one, and not a cheap one either. That's the third time we've left with a freebie or goodie bag for her stay. Couldn't be happier with the pethotel and love the pawgress reports too! :) read more

THREE terrible experiences here. Never again. Lost a customer for life. First time, we booked a weeklong stay for our small dachsund and were called the day we were to drop her off cancelling the stay. An outbreak of some sort. Bad cleaning practices? Second, when buying food was told in an un professional manner I would need a prescription for it. I was told I should know better ... by a teen at the register. Do you have managers here? Today, the dog has a card with her vaccinations on it. They wouldnt take it. Again teens making the decision and acting bratty about it. DONE. Good luck if you ever shop here. Also Kim speaks to customers in a condescending way. She needs training on how to speak with and listen to customers. She's just too adversarial. Do NOT buy bearded dragons, or in my opinion, any live reptile/animal from ANY PetSmart. My husband and our purchased our bearded dragon, our first pet together, on March 10, 2015 and he died on May 20, 2015. We found out our dragon Spike had atadenovirus/adenovirus, which is only contracted from the mother dragon or if around infected dragons. He could not have gotten it from us. He wouldn't eat very much and we took him to the vet. He had an overgrowth of coccidia (a parasite) that is treatable, but because of the atadenovirus he did not survive the treatment as he lost so much weight. It's awful to get attached to a pet to have them die so early and there is nothing you can do. Atadenovirus is easy to prevent by not breeding dragons with the disease. It would be simple for breeders/stores to test for, but apparently they don't care enough about their animals or customers to do so. Just be cautious and get your animals checked out by a vet ASAP. Atadenovius testing does not have to take place at the vet, however. Low cost testing for this and other diseases is provided by Research Associates Laboratory at www.vetdna.com. I did call PetSmart and let them know about the atadenovirus, but I don't believe they will take preventive measures to ensure the well-being of the animals. read more

When Kong, a large manufacturer of pet beds refused to do anything about a durability issue involving one of their products, the manager of this PetSmart took ownership of the problem and saw it through to a reasonable conclusion. She went above and beyond what was expected. Such stellar commitment to customer care never goes unnoticed or unappreciated. I am disappointed in Kong for refusing to stand by their products, instead passing the buck to the retailer. Especially considering the way Kong touts their higher priced pet beds for their superior construction and sturdiness. I am admiring of a company such as PetSmart and a branch location where the manager genuinely goes out of her way for her customers. Deserving of 4.5 stars. read more

I've been a Petsmart customer for a while now. And I've generally had no complaints about them. But my latest experience with their Pets Hotel staff when we tried to board our dogs made think otherwise.. One of our dogs is heart worm positive and he's had just finished his Melarsomine shots about a week before we tried boarded him for a weekend. When I booked the boarding a month before the board date, I mentioned about my dog being heartworm positive (and the treatment plan) and asked if they had any issue in taking him. Their answer was that they had no problem taking him in. A few days before board date I also went in personally to drop off the MSA documents and asked them again at the front desk. The staff at the front desk referred to their manual and told me that heart worm was not in their list and that they don't have any issue taking him in. But on the evening when my wife went to drop off the dogs on her way to the flight, the staff said that they cannot take my dog (which was heart worm positive) in as they cannot take care of him and cannot be held liable for his health. Even though their manual had nothing in it that said they cannot take him in. This left us in such a limbo when we had a few hrs left to catch the flight and provided such hardship in trying to make alternate arrangements for the dogs. I have no problems with their policy of not wanting to board a heart worm positive dog. But they should've told us upfront and completely misled us more than once (over the call and again in person) when they told us they would not have any issues in boarding the dog but refused to do so when we went to drop off. I would never ever go back there!!! read more

I have gone to this Petsmart since it opened. I have dogs, a cat and many fish so I use all departments. Jennifer, the dog trainer, is amazing. She has great energy and patience. My dog was a very stubborn puppy when we took her class. But she showed me tricks to get her to pay attention. My girl ended up doing all three classes and is more well behaved than my 7 year old senior boxer. I remind him daily that this puppy is putting him to shame. The people that run the checkout are also all very friendly. One woman, named Hannah, stands out as being the nicest person that I have ever met at a retail store. I live closer to another Petsmart, but will continue to drive a bit farther to shop at this one. read more

My dog was at this pet hotel for 6 days while we were on a trip. THey didn't know who she was when I came to get her. They referred to her by the cage number to go and retrieve her. She had an eye infection when I picked her up. It was after 9 am - you would think by that time, someone would have tended to the infection or at least cleaned it before giving her back. It took them a little longer to bring her back up to the front... the guy who brought her up said ' sorry she had to take care of business'. I took her out to the car after paying & she was rushing to find a spot to do #2. After 9am, and noone had taken her out yet??? I thought it was strange she wasn't as happy to see me after 6 days... she was rushing to look for a spot to take care of business instead. I called once while on the trip to check on her. They didn't know her and didn't have much to say except she had trouble going one morning. She had stayed at other Petsmart boarding places before... the services at this place doesn't come close to the other one we had used. Staff is not as friendly and your dog is just a number.
