do not use them for boarding!!!!!!! . i boarded my dog with them twice. the first time he came back clean and perfect but the second time he came back to us under weight to the point you can see his ribs, with a rash, and covered in pee and poop. under no circumstances should an animal ever be treated so badly!!!!! especially if the care is paid for! . . never ever trust them with your pets. read more

I wasn't worried leaving my dog for boarding because there are windows and cameras in the boarding area. I felt comfortable knowing that there was transparency in that sense. However, my dog seemed a bit off when I picked her up from boarding. She is very outgoing and lovey, and she just wasn't like that when we picked her up. She seemed tired, so i assume they walked her around enough, but i didn't see any water dishes in the visible kennels. Not sure what happens there. The woman working the desk seemed kind and was very sweet with us, but we couldn't see our dog on any of the CCTV cameras or in the doggie playtime area which we paid extra for. She came home to us reeking of urine, which I suspect had to do with her urinating on herself in her kennel after not being let out properly. I believe they use an indoor bathroom facility and don't walk the dogs outside. I expect the back of this place is a warehouse with a big sheet of newspaper on the floor. IF THEY ASK IF YOUR DOG WILL NEED A BATH AFTER BOARDING, SAY YES. Even if they are spotless when you drop them off, they will at least be stinky when you get them. read more

This store is run like a mafia. I have always had a poor experience with customer service here so I prefer to goto the norwalk store (its 10miles away but the groomers there are very passionate, nice and professional about their work). The last time I went here was against the better judgement of my wife since I was busy and dint want to drive to Norwalk (clearly my mistake). The moment I entered the grooming salon, there was one groomer STEPHANIE S (please avoid here), who barely greeted me or my dog. My dog is adorable and people love petting him and playing with him but this lady has no sense of customer srvice. She immediately dived into $$ details informing me how much extra she will charge by the hour for unmatting my dog. I felt strongly that this lady is here for overcharge $$ and mistreat my dog (after all she was the only one in the salon, who can prove her otherwise, supervisor Cory was off duty). I shoudlve walked out then and there but left my dog (my mistake). She almost took a devilish glee in tellingme that my dog would have to be sheared completely (the only time she smiled sarcastically). I come back to collect my dog and all my suspisions come true. She overcharged for the grooming to her heart content, my dog was anxious as hell. It felt like he escaped prison. She had the nerve to unevenly shear him off. This pissed me off no end as I had speicfically told her to evenly shear him. I lost 1hour of my work time waiting for that fix to happen. I was never so angry as I felt that the customer service was so poor and I couldnt be with my self without reporting them. I completed the survey and shared my concerns with corporate. I got a call from the grooming salon manager(Corie), who was the worst person I ever spoke to. All the did was fight with me till the end defending his employee like his life depended on it. The most unbelievable part is when the grooming was being performed, he was not physically present to supervise, but believes the groomer (stephanie s) and fought tooth and nails with me to defend her. People should realise that customer service in pet grooming is off utmost importance because pets cant talk and give you feedback unlik kids. When you give you pet to a goromer for 4hrs they need to make you feel welcome and comfortable. read more

I was so upset with this place I went for help and they gave me exactly what i didn't want because of allergies. Took my dog to get her nails FILED. The nails came back, clearly cut, and not filed down because all the edges are sharp. While I was waiting to get my dog back, she was tied at the back of the salon crying and barking for about 10 minutes while the employee was helping with another customer. Instead of just taking 30 seconds to grab my dog and bring her over, she had to suffer and wait. My dog never barks and she was literally crying and yelping in the back because she's on a lead thats so short it hardly even lets her stand up and he's just taking his sweet ass time. It was horrifying to watch her cry and wiggle around while he's not even batting an eye. No care whatsoever. Not to mention I paid for a service I didn't receive. The nails were sharp and poorly done. I hate this place. Don't go here to get your dog groomed. read more

NEVER AGAIN!!! I boarded my dog overnight on 7/5 for a wedding I had in CT. I originally wanted to board him in Hartsdale NY but the suites were all booked up, I needed a suite because I have a 115 lb. dog. Upon arrival I was told the suites were all booked up, I said yes, I booked one over a month ago and called to confirm two weeks ago seeing as how I never got an e-mail confirmation. As you can imagine my husband and I were livid. Another young girl came over and said not to worry they could move dogs around so he had a space. Hello, that is not fair to the other customers! When my husband said forget it, we will drive back to NY and skip our nieces wedding yet another girl came out and asked what the problem was. After explaining again, her excuse to us is that these were new employees that didn't know what they were doing, apparently they didn't now what they were doing because when I went to show them my dogs vaccination records I was told its o.k. no problem we don't need them...funny because when I booked the appointment I was told to bring them. Does this mean that other animals that are boarded here are not vaccinated and put my dog at risk?! I really had a sick feeling when I left my baby and I'm sorry I had no time to check up on him as I had another hour and a half ride to my hotel in front of me...but I bet he was put into a smaller kennel. Another problem we had is when my husband asked where he would be walked and he was told over there in that room. Are you kidding?? No fenced in grassy area outside?! My dog is housebroken and now is expected to do his business inside??!! This Pet hotel is horrible and run by a bunch of unprofessionals. Like I said before, NEVER AGAIN!!!! read more

So- I have a pitbull. I got her from a kill shelter in NJ. When I got her I wanted to find a place to bring her for some training classes. I should preface this with She has extreme anxiety about other dogs. Overall, she wants to please and do what I ask of her but she is terrified of other dogs. I spoke with a young lady prior to singing up for classes. She assured me that they are familiar with bully breeds and that she herself has a pitbull. I was happy to hear that there was hope for training my dog. Fast forward- Its the first day for class. We get to the store and the "trainer" was absolutely horrified at my dogs behavior. Granted, she was making a terrible noise (caused by stress) and was basically going crazy. She had us lead her up and down some of the stores aisles then basically told us that she couldn't be helped. I understand that shes an extreme case, and had i not been reassured before signing up I wouldn't have even attempted classes here. But- I'm sad that we learned nothing and received no guidance for what we could do to help my dog calm down. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because they gave me a full refund without any run around. read more

Horrible! Outside is always full of garbage strewn all over the place. Its smells like urine near the garbage can which is right near the door. The bathroom had no toilet paper. Most of the good/nice workers are gone. Some of the groomers are down right nasty and shouldn't be grooming. Some of the girls charge me extra for the nail grinding because my dog is large and they seem annoyed by her size although she is very friendly. read more

Normally I don't write reviews, but I was moved to do so after taking my normally happy and fun-loving Coton (1 year old dog) to PetSmart for a bath and combing. When I picked him up afterwards, he was missing a clump of hair from behind his ear the size of a dime where someone yanked it out. He was scared of people. He appeared drugged and was wobbly on his feet. I will never take my dog back there. I suggest anyone reading this go elsewhere, anywhere but here. read more

Wanted to post that our vet bill was paid for however, no further details on what happened were provided. The overall lack of concern or commitment to keeping our Pet safe still leave me with ill feelings towards this location despite them paying the bill. The staff is unprofessional all around and I will never go back. read more

Paid for the 90 dollar hair cut. My dog smelt great after but the haircut was uneven. I got him shaved and One piece of hair was left hanging-- at least an inch longer than the rest. Also I think they forgot to cut nails. The icing on the cake was that they said they called me when he was done. They did not do such a thing, I had to call them. read more

My dog loves the Petshotel and the staff here at the Stamford PetSmart. I can't tell you how many kennels we have had to go through before we found this one. It is spotless. They know every name of their guests and daycare is great. My dog loves it when he is in camp with all the dogs. The staff gives him a good bath before he comes home so he smells sweet for his trip home. They offer all kinds of treats and extras. read more

I read other reviews AFTER I had my dogs stay here (usually I check YELP first)... but my experiences were just great. First stay - 4 nights- dogs were certainly happy to see me, but they also were lively and looked great. Second stay- one night- again, dogs were adorably happy and the staff was very nice. The manager even voluntarily gave me a free night for one dog, since I had booked so many. I haven't used the vet services (I have an awesome vet in Westchester County and I can't imagine going anywhere else!), but I will use the pet hotel again. read more

Maybe the Stamford Pet Smart has had some growing pains since the previous review but I've had nothing but good experiences there. The people I've seen there absolutely love dogs and are knowledgeable. Maybe it's that I've usually run into the trainers that are wandering the store, but we've asked for recommendations from everything from pet food to healthy treats and they're suggestions (later run by our vet) have always been accurate. To add to this, I have a 1 year old yellow lab. We've been going there since she was about 10 weeks. She is a very outgoing and friendly dog that does well with pretty much everything but the vacuum cleaner. The only thing that has ever scared her there was a st. bernard (when she was maybe 3 months) that was about the size of a horse. I've yet to see shelves unstocked or them out of the brand or thing I'm looking for. I know some people who have used their pet hotel service and liked it. Indy already loves camp bow wow so we have no reason to switch. read more

My baby storm loves it here because she always walks out with a new toy or treat! Prices are reasonable and they always have sales going on. They have Banfielf hospital here and I highly recommend it to owners with pets to keep their pets nice and healthy and updated on vaccines. It's only like $30-$40 a month it's so cheap I can't remember. All other wellness visits are included, and all vaccines needed to keep your pet updated. They also have DOGGIEDAY CAMP ! Not only do my fiancé and I love it but our baby Storm loves it too! She goes everyday and comes home exhausted ready for bed ! She plays all day, gets walked twice a day, gets doggie ice cream, and breakfast lunch and dinner if asked. How amazing is that?!! I highly recommend it to fur parents especially if you are a full time worker or feel too guilty to leave your furry friend behind on an all day event ! read more

Terrible! Rude on the phone and rude in person! My dogs look traumatized and don't look or smell and different than they did when we dropped them off! We were told they couldn't clip their nails or brush their teeth yet we were charged anyway. They are groomed elsewhere bi-monthly with no issues! I was hoping this could be our in between grooming place but won't be coming back! read more

I use the Banfield hospital here for my puppys wellness program and i have no complaints. However i had a 7am first time grooming appt and i was utterly shocked at the unprofessionalism. I waited 20 min until someone showed up. The "manager" said he would have the dog finished in 20 min and he has no idea where the original girl who was supposed to be there is. 5 min later as my dog is shaking on the table another "manager" storms in and starts arguing with the groomer over my dog for a good 10 min. This is where i had enough. This is my dogs first grooming session and he is scared out of his mind and here u two are raising your voices paying no attention to my dog. I walked in said just that. I got nothing but rude comments in return that i am miserable and he did me a favor. I went straight to a general manager with this. I am disgusted at the unprofessionalism and disregard from the grooming services. My first and last time. read more

The staff here are amazing! My dog goes to doggie day camp and everyone there is great with him and always go above and beyond. A few weeks ago, as I was picking up my dog, a woman was in the lobby with her 200 pound, unneutered, great Dane. When they brought my dog out, they didn't even have a chance to hand him to me, or walk him out from behind the desk when she lost control of her dog who proceeded to viciously attack my dog. The two employees got my dog away from hers and we all immediately started looking him over to see if he was ok behind the desk. When I turned around, the woman with her dog was gone. No apology. She didn't even check to see if my dog was ok. He ended up having a pretty nasty bite on his ear and I immediately took him to the vet located inside the store who cleaned it, gave him antibiotics and pain medication. When PetSmart called the owner of the vicious dog to let her know and get her to pay for the vet bill, not only did she refuse but she blamed it on my dog because he is a rottweiler and that he must be aggressive because of his breed. My highly trained, canine good citizen certified dog attends doggie daycare regularly and has never had an altercation with another dog unlike her unneutered dog who she couldn't even control and allowed to attack my dog. When this woman refused to pay my vet bill, Petsmart immediately stepped up and paid the entire bill. Kareem, the manager, could not have been nicer. This ignorant woman who wants to blame my dog for the unprovoked attack just because of his breed is lucky he is such a big dog and the injuries were not worse. Sadly, this woman will not learn until her dog attacks and kills someone's beloved pet which is guaranteed to happen because you can't fix stupid. read more

Service was horrible I called in for an appointment and to find out details on certain dog care opinions along with inquires of an appointment and a female by the name of takoyia answered which she served no purpose and was very rude I felt rushed off the phone I just wanted my camy nails clipped she asked if she had immunizations I said no she said she could not do anything for me I was irate at first then she told me sure to stop by she would do it as courtesy but before she left at six but it was already close to time so I didn't bothered amd because she had already given a bad vibe her service was horrible I felt like being a first time pet owner and expressing that to her about my new edition she should've had a lot more empathy she was very cold and talking to others In the background sounded like a circus and continued to put me on numerous of holds i asked to speak to manager on and was told that she was one and asked for a different manager and was told that a guy named Kareem was and when transferred call dropped and when I called back was told he was off so since I see management doesn't care I chose to write a review hopefully it gets far and u guys will try some where else which I did I tried Norwalk and had great service which my baby camy was nice and clean afterwards they where great I don't recommend Stamford pet smart grooming department to any one that loves there pet.... read more

Took my dog in for grooming, picked her up and she had clearly not been groomed. Didn't smell fresh, had matts in her fur and hadn't had a sanitary trim. When I called to complain, manager Corey defended his staff and said he'd never had complaints before. Waste of money and time. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I took my dogs for a grooming appointment. They told me they only had one dog scheduled and that the appointment was in 30 minutes not at the time I was there. I was then told they could only cut my dogs face paws and belly since it was her first grooming there which is not what I requested. The groomer then informed me he was going to let the other women staff member talk to me since they were talking over him. I ended up walking out with no services. The most unprofessional grooming staff I have ever encountered in my 6 years of pet ownership. Plus the whole grooming area smelled awful. Terrible experience. read more

I set up an appointment for my dog last Thursday, about two days in advance. Although I should have taken the name of the person who scheduled my dogs grooming appointment, I didn't. Low and behold I have my mother go to drop off my dog and they cannot find any appointment in the system. After waiting 30 minutes, they told mom they would take my dog anyway. We specifically told them what we wanted done to my dog. Do not cut her tail or head AT ALL, and the rest of her body keep to a level two cut. I got home to find that my dogs hair on her belly and back had been CHOPPED, not even close to an even, smooth cut. It looked like something my 12 year old nephew would have done with a pair of scissors. Not only that, but her neck, top of her head, and her tail were chopped up too. Petsmart was told that these parts of her were NOT to be cut at all. They were not only cut but completely botched. I took her back the next day and Glen told me the manager had cut my dog (WOW) and even when he saw the horrible job he laughed a bit and shook his head in disappointment. He said to come back tomorrow (Sunday) at 8 or 9am and he would be there to fix it. I showed up the next day at 9am sharp to be told Glen doesn't work on Sundays. Wow. (Thank God I didn't come at 8). But- Stacey, the manager who originally worked on my dog was there! Well, I explained to her why I was unhappy and she was the most rude "manager" I have ever experienced. She kept rolling her eyes, making little troll faces, and (hardly) tried to defend the horrible work she did on my poor dog. She said she had to cut her tail and neck because of some knots. Ok, Stacey, so- B.L.E.N.D. Her defense was literally to say "Ok, whatever". Real professional. Never once did she offer an apology for my unhappiness. Thank god Tacoya M. was there. She stepped up and said she would take care of my dog right away (even though she was working on another) and fix her cut. Of course my dogs hair has to be much shorter than I originally wanted because Stacey chopped off so much, but Tacoya did a great job, and her manners and service were impeccable. I found the GM, Eddie, and told him what happened. He explained Stacey's behavior was not okay and he gave us a free grooming card for next time. I'd like to say thank you to Eddie and Tacoya M. If it were for only these two, I'd give the experience 5 stars. However, to Stacey; look your customers in the eye, admit when you mess up, FIX what you messed up, and pick up a book on some proper customer service and etiquette. You're the sole reason this rating is so low. read more

I took my dog in for his quarterly grooming and the groomer ended up "cutting his tongue." I have had positive experience with them in the past, but this particular groomer has been from hell...I hope the store terminated her. I was attending a function in Norwalk and needed to board my dog for an overnight stay. Upon walking into the store I couldn't help but notice the strong odor of "wet dog" - especially near the Pet Hotel - I've never smelled it that bad at other Petsmart locations. I brought my dog in and waited about 5 mins before someone came to greet me. While waiting I noticed that the doggie day camp area was viewable from the front of the hotel and it wasn't blocked off with paper nor was the glass frosted. So I knew I had to walk in the other direction and around some aisles to exit the store to avoid my dog from seeing me as I was leaving as I didn't want to upset him. I made a stop at the restroom and unfortunately it wasn't very clean - I won't go into details - this concerned me that employees had to use it who would be handling my dog. I will keep an eye on my dog over the new few days to make sure he is ok and that he didn't contract anything. Otherwise the staff were friendly and competent for the most part and my dog seemed to have a good time. All in all I am not certain if I will use this facility again as the lack of cleanliness concerned me. read more

Awful, they do no care about your pet at all. My dog is 12 years old, and has been getting grooomed since he was a puppy and we have never had a problem until we brought him here!!! They clipped him by his eye which is very dangerous to begin with. We asked for our pup to be cute short the summer months except in his face, when we got there its was not short enought, we asked to go the next level down they wouldnt do it for us, and they made some excuse that is wasnt possible. We asked to speak to the manager and got a rude responce that the manger was gone. Their customer service is apauling!!! DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS YOU DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET!!! read more

I had been taking my two rescue dogs for the last 8 months and was pretty pleased with the outcome. The last time I was there, without talking to me about anything, they decided to change the breeds of my dogs so t hat they could charge me more money. I went back to pick them up and I told Laylani that there was absolutely no Poodle in the one dog and she said that she would change it for next time. The other they labeled as a Skye Terrier as opposed to a Silky Terrier. A Skye is usually styled with long hair and has upright ears. This dog has neither. After thinking about it over the weekend, I called and asked to speak to the manager. She refused to change from the Skye Terrier but said she would get rid of the Poodle label. I told her that Laylani told me that she already did and that I paid up for it. She offered me a 25% discount on the one dog's next grooming. I told her to cancel their next grooming and that I wasn't coming back. Poor customer service and extremely bad communication. I told my private vet about the experience and she said "they charge by the breed?" read more

The only reason I give 2 stars is because they take better care of thier reptiles then any other petco or petsmart I've ever been to. Regarding the employees just like previous reviews I do agree they have no training and do not know how to approach dogs. The employees do not know anything about cat or dog nutrition and are only trained to push certain foods almost every dog food petsmart carries has poor ingredients or the company has poor quality control and frequent recalls, do your research before purchasing a pet food at a large chain pet store! Regarding the vet ive never bothered paying any attention at this location but if it is a banfield like at the Norwalk location stay away! Banfield is an awful vet and I hate them and have seen so many things go wrong with them. Now as far as the pet hotel it is vet overpriced for what you get and they do hire allot of immature people (not reffering to all employees there are a great few) but the dogs do not get enough excersize and every thing is an additional charge wich adds up very fast. The play yard is vefy very small and only used a few hours a day (no wonder why its so spotless!) Only thing I reccomend this store for is good deals, cheap toys, cheap fish and small animal supplies. read more

Do not board your dog at this facility! I paid for dogs to have an exit bath and nails done. They did terrible job on nails missing some and left sharp edges on even though I asked for them to grind them. The dogs smelled terrible as they were bathed in the morning and I picked up in the late afternoon - what does that tell you about the actual accommodations. I put my dogs in a suite and was told that they would be charged $45 for first dog and $40 for second. They charged me $45 for both and when I told the person at check out he said "oh!" and that was it. Didn't offer to fix it. So worst part, and still can't believe it....as we exited..they gave me my 2 dogs and as we are still at the counter they brought out a Rottweiler. Rottweiler and he didn't get along...had a scrapple...that lasted 3 seconds if that - I thought nothing of it and left on my way figured I wasn't going to complain about the extra 5 bucks a night...I get a phone call two days later, not even from the manager, that the owner of the dog said her dog's ear was bitten by my dog..I am like are you kidding...I am sure that dog probably had an altercation inside as it wasn't exactly a friendly dog. So they are like we need you to pay for her dog and the antibiotics..I am like are you kidding, show me the tape because when I left the dog wasn't bleeding and the owner didn't seem to even be upset or startled. She must be use to her dog attacking others. A week passes with no phone call from the manager, so I call to at the least see what the deal was with these accusations...I speak to the manager, Kareem, I discuss the over payment, and he agreed I was charged more than I should have been. He didn't comment on the terrible nail clip and lack of grind or the fact the dogs smelled. And when I asked him to explain why he would let his staff call me to accuse my dog of an attack, he was straight up it was your dogs fault. He wasn't even there. I said show me your proof. I was in the store for more than 10 minutes buying food, and at no point did anyone say hey, come back and take a look at what happened. They refused to show me the tape but the manager was so beyond rude that he demanded it was my dogs fault and implied that I was a bad pet owner that doesn't except responsibility for my dogs actions. Crazy!!! Literally, thought it was a joke. Oh, and the previous comments, about the smell are totally true...I always tried to look past that as it is a pet store and was most convenient to my house, but I have been in plenty of Petsmarts and this one is not kept clean...always smells like urine. Looks like u pay for what you get...will have to go back to support the more expensive Pet Pantry now! read more

Alright so let's talk about this terrible experience that I had that has officially made me look for another pet store. The staff here really need to be reconsidered because this store is going to go down. This store closes at 9 pm on a Saturday. This is shown online & even on the windows of this store. I showed up 25 min before the store closed because I don't work nor live near this store but I go out of my way to travel to get my pet supplies here. The doors were locked & me & some other customer were incredibly confused because they have their hours posted right in front of us & it's not 9 pm so I'm not sure why I can't go in. Then an employee sees us opens the door very slightly & asks us what we want in a rude way. What do I want? Why else am I coming to a pet store. I need dog food but of course I wasn't able to get it. This employee tells us they're close but they're not & the customer who is here confused like I am asks to speak to a manager because not sure why the store is closed 25 min before it's supposed to be. She then answers him with an attitude that he can't speak to a manager because there isn't one there. Is this why they're closing the store early? If that's the case why are they leaving their employees without someone responsible enough to close when they're supposed to. She didn't care that all we needed to get was one thing. All I needed was dog food & they didn't let me in & by the time we stopped arguing with this employee she was not going to let us in at all I was not able to make it somewhere else. This store really needs a whole set of new employees because the ones they have do not care & I understand that but don't work at a store that closes at this time if you're not going to keep it open. I will never come back here again because I've had past experience with their employees being rude but now this is just pushing it. How do you have no type of management making sure your employees are doing the right thing. read more

I boarded my dog here for 3 days and I should have listened to reviews. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ANIMAL HERE! I hope this helps someone in the future. Here is my experience, I called two of the three days and they told me everything was fine. I picked him up a day early and immediately he didn't look well. He wasn't as happy or jumpy as normal. He had urine soaked back paws and tons of eye crust. The day before I boarded my dog I got him groomed, he needed a bath, and got one as soon as I got home. He seemed sick and threw up within an hour of being home, I figured it was from excitement but today (one day later) he has thrown up three more times. I called the Petsmart and stated I just picked up my dog from boarding and it's now day two and he threw up several times. I asked if there were any sick dogs, the young woman said, "no, there were no report of sick dogs and they would have notified everyone if there were." Ummmmmm, I thought, I just notified you and you didn't ask my name, my pets name or even the specifics of his stay so I knew she was lying. I have boarded my pet at other PetSmart locations and have never had this issue. Please take my advice and DO NOT BOARD YOUR ANIMAL AT THIS LOCATION! read more

I really wanted to like this place. The people seemed so nice and even when we had a mishap, (lost lease and my dog was injured when he was groomed), I tried to be optomistic. I left several messages at the store asking for a follow up phone call from the manager and never spoke to anyone live. I only received one message that the lease was found and they would call back when it was returned. It has been over a week and no return call. I only wonder what happened over the two days our dog was there. I were give no progress report and it took them over 20 minutes to lovate him when I went to pick him up. I just wanted to hear from some one in charge on what happened. The desk clerk ignored me and just kept looking at her computer the whole time Istood there. Iwere so relieved when our dog showed up that I bought a new collar and lease and got out of there. This place does NOT give you a piece of mind. Sorry, we will not be going back . read more

The store supply and staff is good. I have no complaints there. The Banfield inside of Petsmart is convenient and they are really nice too. My only issue with this Petsmart is the grooming department. They give grooming appt.s 2 or more weeks out and you have to leave your dog for 4-5 hours. In order to dry them they are put in a cage and a large blower is put in front of the cage to dry them. The last time I went I was told that one of my dogs is afraid of the blower and gives them a hard time while brushing. They write notes in the computer so they are aware of the fears that the dogs have for the next visit (not a bad idea). They recommended I leave my dog for a longer amount of time because of her fears. Well one night my dog got sprayed by a skunk and Petsmart of course could not see her for 2 weeks. Frantically searching, I scheduled a same day appointment at a more private/high end pet salon. Note: I did wash my dog immediately at home. I paid the same price that I have at Petsmart and I had never seen my dog wag her tail in a salon. She had no issues with the drying because they don't stick them in a cage with a large blower. They actually blow dry their hair with a brush. I watched through the window to see how my dog reacted to the brushing...she was fine. She was even giving her groomer kisses on his hand! So in conclusion staff, inventory is great.... Grooming, big thumbs down. read more

I visit this petsmart once a week for my petfood needs. During my last visit I was on line checking out when the dog trainer walked by literally screaming at the dog. I was startled and looked up and the person in line behind me was as well. We both responded by how awful and what a terrible way to train a dog by scaring it to death. I was so upset by the trainer's continued reprimanding of the dog that I actually asked to speak to a manager about the trainer's "technique". The manager did absolutely nothing but informed the trainer. The trainer approached me and said "this is how I train". I said, it was no way to train an animal by screaming at it. The trainer said the dog was attacking other dogs (not so) and that's why she was screaming at the dog. Basically she lied. I watched the whole thing. I was so upset by the trainer's attitude that I even called Petco customer service and told the story. The rep I spoke to said that my concerns would be forwarded to the store's manager and that I would receive a call about it within a day or two. That was a week and a half ago and I never got a call. A word of warning ... don't take your dog here for training!!!!! read more

I thought i had good service and my dog Magoo had grooming here about 4 or 5 times. The male groomer had left and now i was stuck with some kids. They said Magoo had bitten them. I was now banned from the salon. I was using the pet hotel quite often but now that the groomers have no compassion for dogs is a shame. I know you would like to save money but there are a lot better places out there. I just took Magoo to another local hospital and for the first time that Magoo was being seen there was no problems, the groomer sandi said he was a bit shy but came around. She did a beautiful job and I am looking forward to doing business with this facility. If you love your animal this is not the place to be taking your best friend. Joe D read more

If I can give this place no stars I would. I am very dissatisfied with my service here at my local pet smart. Every week I buy the same puppy food and the cashiers and managers whom I normally see every week price match my puppy's $20 food, sure it's only $20 but every week saving $4-5 adds up. Anyway, the cashier called over his manager to price override the price match and the "store manager" denied my request. Not only that but he also mentioned that the manager who I see EVERYTIME I go there who price matches my dog food doesn't exist or ever worked there.. I will definitely never run any business over to this pet smart. I will drive over to the Norwalk location and pay for the service I receive. read more

This place is a joke - if you feel like having your dog mistreated is funny. N.O.T. They have the worst customer service ever - totally disinterested, snotty, clueless, lazy WITH attitude. I left my dog there for a week of boarding (after having a very good experience with boarding at PetSmart E. Hartford). It is the worst, most worrisome, boarding experience we have ever had! Day 2, I call to see if dog is eating. I am told, we evaluate them after 48 hours, then maybe we will add some wet food to the dry to tempt their appetite. I say, it's already been 48 hours, GIVE her the wet food. Snotty, nonchalant response. Spoke to Kareem and Briana, both RUDE, Nasty, totally dismissive of my concerns. Day 3, call to see how dog is. Told she is "acting funny." I ask "HOW?" No rational, descriptive response, just "I didn't know how to approach the dog." WHAT? Isn't your job knowing how to approach a dog in a "Pet Hotel"? My dog is shy but NOT aggressive. I was worried about my dog the entire stay, NO peace of mind whatsoever. I actually had to call Kathy/Manager in E. Hartford to get some intervention and assistance - she is wonderful and helped calm my fears. Of course, when I went to pick up my dog, no one was manning the desk. I looked into the doggie daycare room where the worker was totally absorbed with her cell phone - completely ignoring ALL dogs in room. When someone finally comes to give me my dog, I get an inflated bill with $10 extra per day for "playing" with my dog. I say, show me my Contract, when did I ever agree to pay $10 extra per day on top of your exorbitant $39 per day fee (for this crappy service)? The worker looks at me as if I am speaking Martian and says "CONTRACT?" The manager comes out and Graciously agrees to waive the $10 fee THIS TIME, since there is no Contract, but not next time. AS IF THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME!!!! If you love your dog stay away from this abusive, incompetent Pet Hotel! read more

I have a huskie that got sick thanks to staff that they dont have an idea about how to check dogs in , usually i always used to bring my dog 4 times a week for doggie day camp, however every single time at the to check out my dog i always spend couple of minutes to see if my dog is ok, however that day i noticed few little white spots in her mouth and my first reaction was to point it out to the staff, well they told me that s nothing dont worry about it, the next 3 days the same answer, then i asked if i have to bring my dog to the vet, they said no, however after 2 weeks the little spots got bigger and turn into ward, again the same week i asked if my dog needs treatment or something, again the answer was no!!! Suddenly later that week, i got a phone call telling me that i have pick up my dog due his condition = ward , and i have to take to the vet, and i cannot bring it back unless everything is clear with the vet, they said ward is highly contiguous, they isoleted my my dog the charged me for nothing,i had to go the vet , get medications, spend more time with my dog now that she is sick i cant take her anywhere else, b/c i dont want other dogs owners suffer this situation, due of lack of information from the staff that work in petsmart hotel in stamford, thank god it wasnt a life thread ......employee still working there and who knows if that place is clean or desinfected, cuz my dog had every single vaccine and she was very healthy, i talked with with the manager and he did apologize for this problem and offered to pay for her vet and medicines, at least they know that im not crazy....however , i highly recommend to check your dogs b4 to check out.... read more

I'd like to commend one of the store's cashiers/sales associates for going above and beyond to help me. I was totally confounded by the selection of cat flea and tick collars. There were a number of products and a variety of prices and I didn't know which to select. I asked the cashier, Paul, if he could recommend one. Not only did he do that, he walked with me over to the aisle and discussed the pros and cons of a few. The one he recommended was VERY expensive ($79.99) and when he saw my eyes bug out, he suggested that I go online to PetSmart and see if they're offering a better price. They sure were -- $54.99! a $25 savings. He said the PetSmart store would match their online price. It was still expensive for a tick collar but Paul explained to me that it would last 8 months and end up being a better investment than one of the less expensive collars. He gave me excellent service and deserves recognition for his professionalism. read more
