I just took a class with my dog along with ten other dogs. During class we walked around the store with lots of other sweet dogs. Chris, our teacher is very knowledgable and helpful. Here's the problem; the Santa Fe Humane Society had their adopt-a-pet trailer outside and several dogs on leashes. At the front door Two of the pit bulls tried to viciously attack us! Scared me so much I ran into the parking lot by the trailer where yet TWO more of those beasts from hell tried to attack us, one got off of his leash. I had to kick it away from my dog! GET IT TOGETHER SANTA FE HUMANE SOCIETY! These dogs are a menace to society. You should NOT allow people to adopt these monsters! They are not puppies. They are big, dangerous animals!! I often shop at PetSmart in tucson but this was my first experience with the Santa Fe store. The groomer said our dog had an ear infection so I was anxious to get some medication and didn't want to wait for delivery. I went on line and they said they had the product I wanted so I ordered it plus some dog shampoo. When I got to the store and called to let them know I was there the person who answered was unintelligible and there was a lot of background noise. I keep telling her I couldn't understand her. She asked me to call back. It wasn't much better but eventually I got the message across and they brought my order out. When I got home and opened the bag I discovered I had ear cleaner not the ear medicine I had ordered. I called. Better connection. I was told that in spite of what it said on their website they didn't had the product I wanted. She attributed it to theft problems. I hung up and went on line to Petco. A short time later I was able to pick up the product I wanted. Now I have a product I don't want and I'm not sure how to return it. Has anybody done a curbside return? Very unhappy about this whole experience. On second thought can I do negative stars? read more

I have used their grooming several times for washing and nail-trimming of our Great Pyrenees dog. The wash was fine. HOWEVER, the last time we used their services, we asked for a very, and I stress VERY light trim of the tail and hind quarter. "No more than 2 inches" I told them several times. SHOCKED is what we were to see our beautiful Pyrenees with the beautiful hind quarter so typical of a purebred Pyrenees rounded like that of a Poodle! What is it the groomer didn't understand about "NO MORE THAN 2 INCHES?" We are terrifically disappointed in their grooming services and will not use them again. read more

These people are unprofessional. They scheduled me for a 7am grooming service and they did not show up. When they finally did show up, they were rude and unapologetic. I decided to leave and call the manager who did nothing but make excuses for his staff. I guess, waiting around 30mins is not good enough for them. I should have waited a whole day before someone would decide to show up to work. read more

Great experience here. I have used this store for over ten years now and like all the other posts everyone is so friendly and really truly and honestly care about your pet and you when you walk in . I am very particular when it comes to my toy poodle and his hair. I have searched long and far for the perfect groomer, and I have found two at this location. Jordan and Crystal are the absolute BEST! They are super sweet to my precious baby, and they always do an excellent job. I promise, you will not be disappointed. read more

I needed a very large wire crate to put in my car as my 73lb puppy had eye surgery and was wearing a cone. she can't be loose in the car, or she will destroy everything. Wish I could remember the woman's name who helped me unpack the crate in the store, wheel it out to my car, and another person who helped put it in the car while i kept my dog from jumping out. Just had a horrible experience with this store, they would not groom my dog because of they described as an risky eye condition, I rescued Bode 7 years ago and he had a birth defect on his eye, there is no injury, he just has an unsightly eye, never has a groomer refused to groom him. Obviously this store has no clue. One star should be no star. read more

Extremely disappointed in the service provided (or I guess not provided) by the grooming salon. Our anxious dog has been getting groomed by PetSmart in Albuquerque since he was a puppy, and while he isn't the most pleasant dog to groom they get the job done wonderfully. We recently got our dog anxiety medication and took him to be groomed at the Santa Fe PetSmart unaware of their policy on medication. Dogs cannot be groomed while on medication due to it slowing their heart rates- okay cool, no problem. We rescheduled, said we wouldn't give the medication, but informed them he doesn't like being groomed and off his medication he will be a little more difficult. Our dog had never been on medication while being groomed at the ABQ PetSmart and they could ALWAYS groom him. Not the Santa Fe PetSmart. We show up for our second appointment and the groomer is too afraid to even pick our dog, a 6 pound Pomeranian mix, up. She tries to get him to go to her by being on her knees and talking in a baby voice. This, obviously, doesn't work. Our dog is anxious, he's highly attached to us, he's never in his life just happily gone with someone else. The groomer, instead of just taking him, says how she doesn't want him to be stressed so he can't be groomed today. He's always stressed. Hence the anxiety medication. I try to explain and her only answer for me is "try walking him around the store more and we can reschedule". I was extremely disappointed and chose not to reschedule or shop there again. We realize our dog isn't the easiest to groom, but it's ridiculous that we had no problems in ABQ but in Santa Fe our dog can't even be touched and we are now having to considering driving into ABQ whenever we want him groomed. read more

Excellent experience!! I made an appointment at the grooming salon as a last resort because I couldn't get into my regular groomer. We were 1/2 way there when I realized I had forgotten the Rabies certificate, I called and let them know we were going to be late. I was told that if we more than 30 minutes late we would have to reschedule. We were 50 minutes late and they still took my dog, were very nice about it and they did a great job on his grooming. Very happy with the grooming salon and will take my dog to them again. read more

My husband and I took our 9 year old Bichon in for grooming. We were aware of his matting issues as is common to this breed. Several hours later, we were called to say that he had hematomas on his ears due to the matting and subsequent trimming. It was way more than hematomas. His ear tips had been injured due to the shaving. Not only that, our dog had been completely shaved which we did not authorize. It appears that the groomer either did not know what he/she was doing, or just took the easy way out and completely shaved our dog. It has now been 5 days and our dog acts traumatized. He does not sleep well at night, is anxious, and does not eat well. We were told by the manager to watch our dog and take him to our Vet if there were any problems. Seriously? This has been a horrible experience and we hope our dog recovers from this. There should be security cameras in the grooming area to monitor any possible abuse to animals. We will never go back to PetSmart for ANYTHING. PET OWNERS, BEWARE. I would have given this review no stars if I was able to. read more

This is, by far, one of the most horrific experiences I have ever had with staff at any Petsmart anywhere. My husband took our Bichon Frise in to the Santa Fe, NM branch to have her groomed in July. I couldn't believe what I saw following the "grooming". She had been shaved SO closely that I could see pink under the small of hair that was left, her tail was long as well as her ears had been left long and didn't look well with the shaving she received. The top of her head was cut unevenly with the center top cut close to the skin. I'm still in shock that an employee, much less, the "supervisor" groomer at this store would cut a dog's hair so terribly. Words cannot convey this experience. You need to see the before and after photos. The assistant manager was no help (of course- it's her neck on the line, too). She never asked to see pictures, never asked if I needed to be compensated for the trauma Maggie endured, not to mention our family. And she certainly didn't care that this monster who cut Maggie's hair hung up on me when I tried speaking with her, then put me on hold indefinitely when I tried calling back. I have two regrets...one, I used to buy all my pet supplies there, and two, I sent my puppies to be groomed there. Can't believe people get away with stuff like this. I have an extensive family who has seen the damage the groomer did. I think there will be a few less customers shopping at this place from ____. read more
