I came in today and I looked at some cats. I am kind of interested in adopting, but I am not 100% set on adopting just yet. I asked one of the workers, he was a male with a beard he had curly blondish white hair, I asked him if I could see the cat and he responded, Well, are you interested in adopting? and I said maybe I'm not sure yet. Then he says you can only see the cats if you're committed to adopting. I'm thinking to myself how am I supposed to know if I want to adopt this cat if I can't even touch it or hold it or play with it? How am I supposed to know if I want a cat through a glass screen? As soon as he said that to me, I walked out. This is not only unfair to customers, but also unfair to the kittens who deserve to be played with and get attention in love. This worker is prohibiting cats from getting adopted plain as that. this worker was also a more heavyset guy and he needs to be fired. Someone please identify him. This is totally unfair to customers and especially the kittens that are looking for new homes. This is not even allowing them the chance to get adopted. People might just come in and see cats and fall in love with a cat without even wanting to adopted first. Fix this system! I just hope these cats get adopted through a fair process! Fix it. keep in mind this is never happened to me before and I come to petsmart all the time. I even adopted my cat from a different petsmart. it is the employee's fault. I cannot commend the grooming department enough! They did a great job with our wiggly puppy! He was thrilled to be there and was obviously treated with love and care. Karen and the rest of the team were professional and kind. I love that I was notified by phone and text immediately when he was ready and that I could pay online. The facility was clean and welcoming. They made a stressful situation for my elderly father (leaving his puppy) into a lovely experience. We drove from Kerrville because we had difficulty finding a good groomer with availability there and it was so worth it! We will be back! Hopefully a little less wiggly next time, but I wouldn't count on it. read more

This review is specifically in regards to the grooming salon. For the better part of a year I've debated on whether or not to write something about the Petsmart Grooming salon at The Rim but after our last trip there, I have to. I started taking my dog to get groomed here in 2015. It wasn't until the end of 2017/early 2018 that I noticed the quality of grooming started to decline. First let me say, all of the employees have always been very kind to both myself and my dog. Very nice people- my review isn't about the their attitude or anything like that, just the actual grooming service. I don't know what happened to change things, but every single appointment since the timeframe mentioned above, they butcher my dogs ears and sometimes her face isn't cut evenly. See the pictures attached. It got so bad I eventually asked them to stop cutting her ears - it's a hit or miss as to whether or not they follow my request each appointment. I continued going to this salon for so long because it's $45 and everywhere else in San Antonio is so darn expensive. You get what you pay for, I guess. And no, I didn't say anything when I went to pick her up because honestly, I didn't want to take the risk of them messing her ears up further. I just trimmed them when I got home myself. Unfortunately, this last service sealed the deal for me. I will take my business elsewhere. So, future clients, beware when it comes to how they groom your dog's ears; in my opinion, it's a 50/50 chance on what your dog will come out looking like. read more

My experience here today = the best reasons people shouldn't have a $15 minimum wage. Walk in about 4 p. Somewhat busy. Lots of dogs. Some obedience class going on ... just make out the person teaching telling the group to ignore the behavior of the incredibly annoying barking dog. First thing I notice...a line 5-6 people long at the register. Kid working doesn't seem to care the line continues to grow. He is slower than molasses. I retrieve my items and get in the ever growing line. It's obvious at this point the kid is much more interested in chatting with his friend (who is also an employee, just off the clock I guess...) than attending to customers. Kid FINALLY calls for help at the front register ... something he should have done much earlier. As I'm standing in line, some lady rushes in, dog under her arm. She is late to the obedience class that's already started. Guess she needs the obedience class... The dog squirms in her arms, falling to the hard tile. Simultaneously, she spills her drink (which she obviously had time to get while not getting to the obedience class on time...)...some fruity concoction from Starbucks...all over the tile. She turns to the kid checking us out...and says, "I might need a little help". (GEEEEE...ya THINK!?). The kid literally says..."you can just leave it...we'll get to it, EVENTUALLY". I shit you not. He said that. So, slow poke's friend, "off the clock employee guy" decides THAT is a good time to split. But before he does he puts a yellow "CAUTION/ PISO MOJADO" sign right over the spilled goop ...treating the goop like it's radioactive. No, he didn't clean it, didn't help...just put the sign right over it...and with a typical "it's not my problem, I'm off the clock" attitude, flings his smock over his shoulder...and walks out. Management of this store should be ashamed of the employees I interacted with today. read more

My husband walked up at 8:57 to grab one small bag of dog food and was told they were already closed and computers were shut down when they do not close until 9. He drove from Boerne to buy this sensitive skin and stomach dog food for our dog that we're boarding who will not have the right food since you decided to close before your posted hours! Took my dog here for two first appointments. How does that happen? He got turned away both times. He still hasn't been groomed. If your pet doesn't already have perfect hair, nails and skin they won't bother to help you. The reason I was turned away today was because the bather can't also cut out a few tangles under his tail. They aren't qualified to do anything other than bathe and brush and do nails and clean ears. And they were under staffed and over worked. They could get me in tomorrow. Maybe. No thanks! I won't bother going here again. They've now lost all my business including going for pet supplies for my dogs, cat, and bunny. Skip this place. It's a waste of time. read more

This review is only applicable to their grooming salon. We have a cockapoo that they have groomed for the past 2 years since we moved to this part of town. We have used a number of different groomers in San Antonio with our dogs over the years and have found Tina and her team to be excellent and well priced for the service. They take great care of our dog while in their care. She is very receptive to special requests my wife may have at times (she can be a little picky). They are very flexible for appointments and I love that they even have availability on Sundays although you certainly have to plan ahead. Excellent grooming at a quite reasonable price. Highly recommended. read more

We have been using Petsmart for our dogs grooming for years, and every time they've always been amazing. We do express grooming in the morning. The groomer we use is extremely attentive to our dogs and their needs as well. Our oldest dog has arthritis, so sometimes it's difficult for her to stand for long periods of time. The groomer uses towels under her feet to relieve the pressure. If our dogs are not up for the blow dryer, they don't force it on them and opt for towel drying. Our pups come out smelling great and are super soft. read more

Went back in to try and exchange and the associate told me I was not able to even though I just bought the bag of food a minute ago. She asked her management but did not tell them that I had just bought the food a minute ago, she just simply told me no and was not friendly about whatsoever. Did not bother saying we're so sorry, or i apologize. The bag was not opened, receipt in hand that says we can exchange 60 days after the date listed on the receipt not 60 seconds. Just and FYI for people with pets. The shihtzus were out of food so I went in to Petsmart at The Rim the 10# bag of Royal Canine for Shitzus was $49.99 I didn't think twice and bought it... When I was home I thought that wasn't right it was to expensive. I called Petsmart on Dezavala and the food was $43.99!!! I asked why the price difference? The manager said because The Rim is a smaller store, less square footage so they have higher prices... Not so Smart PetSMART! This has got to be the worst management team on the planet. We have been taking our two Soft Coated Wheaton Terriers to this PetsMart located in the Rim shopping center off La Cantera. With this review we have to make an exception to the Dog Groomer Yvonne who is one of the best groomers we have had for the past 12 years. She treats our dogs Fozzy and ZsaZsa like they were her own. Unfortunately she was unavailable today and we needed to get our dogs groomed right away, so I had to book with another groomer. This is were it all fell apart. I took my dog in as scheduled and I was greeted at the grooming counter to check in my dog. She came around and started feeling my dogs and told me they were knotted and their would be an additional charged an of $14.00 per dog to detangle them. I was surprised since we have been taking our dogs to Yvonne for the past year and a half. We have talked to her several times about their matting and Yvonne has explained how she had to cut them a little shorter to help with them getting matted between grooming appointments. I explained this to the girl that was checking in my two dogs and out of the blue a woman in a aggressive manner interrupting us and stated "actually you should have been charge this before and I have spoken to Yvonne about it. She has just been to scared to tell you. I have also talked to you about this in the past" she identified herself as the grooming manager Tina. I was very taken back by this. First of all, let me make it very clear, this was never about the cost. Yvonne could have charged us twice as much and I would have had no problem paying her. I have never spoken to this Tina before. Just because I was using another groomer I was being up-sold and didn't appreciate it. The aggressive manner which she spoke and then stating Yvonne was to scared of us to tell us was completely unacceptable. I then asked to speak with the store manager. He came and introduced himself as Jason. Jason was just as rude and condescending as Tina. Jason stated that is was store policy. As the manager of the Rim location why wasn't he informed of this by Tina months ago? I'm confident that if PetSMART corporate became aware of this stores leadership and culture they would be very concerned and disappointed. Complete lack of understanding of how important it is to retain loyal customers and ensuring every customer receives exceptional service. Now after a year and a half of taking my two dogs to the best groomer ever and being told she was scared of us and we have been underpaying all this time is unbelievable. Someone out there needs to hire Yvonne away from them and stop going to this store. By they way, I also want to add that on two separate Occasions I left a tip for Yvonne because she was not present when we picked up the dogs. She never received it which we spoke about in detail. read more

Very very disappointing and disgusting. The past few times I've come into this store there were several dead fish in the tanks with multiple fish on the verge of dying. These people do NOT take care of their pets or their customers. I didn't have one person ask me if I needed help the whole time I was there. First off I'd like to congratulate this location and Petsmart itself for having so much business they hire people to turn customers away. I came to this location to for my dog to be bathed. It was obvious from the beginning that there was just too much business here. The person who greeted me, some skinny bitch with a very short haircut and brown hair, took a fine tooth comb to my doodle. Shockingly she couldn't comb his hair with said comb and declared him having "mattes" and therefore unacceptable. I brush him regularly and have no problem with his "mattes." First time coming to this new petsmart in the Rim and I will never be back. Went to buy dog food for my 1 year old pup. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to help me, I was inquiring if they had the larger size of the food I have been feeding my dog, the staff member stops me and tells me my puppy is no puppy at a year old and also is not a small breed at 25 lbs. I was at the ban field hospital at the petsmart down the street less then a month ago and I asked the vet when I should switch to adult food and was told I can wait up until 2 years and to do small breed since he's under 30 lbs. the staff member was told this and still insisted I was wrong and shouldn't be feeding my dog what my vet suggests. Horrible service, horrible selection of items, and overall bad experience. Will not be back. Go to a different petsmart if you can help it. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Worst customer service EVER! They REFUSED service and turned away my 2 cute lab puppies from getting bathed and shaved due to a technicality re seeing a vet for shots. Even though I had provided up to date shot records, they STILL asked me if they had any shots recently and tricked me. When I answered honestly, they denied service! The two female employees were rude and caused such stress in one of my dogs that he got loose and ran all over the parking lot - almost getting ran over and killed. Called to make an appointment for my two dogs for the groomer. They told me they had an appointment for today and needed a rabies vaccine on one of my dogs. I told them I had it. We live 45 minutes away...showed up today and they told me they couldn't take my dog that had just gotten his rabies vac early in the day the day before...it's now late in the day, because he may have a reaction. They never mentioned this on the phone the day before when I called to make the appointment and before I drove 45 minutes one way...I've used PetSmart for years, but I'm done. read more

I come here at least once every week and now I can say with confidence that this petsmart has the absolute worst customer service. The two guys who I have personally dealt with on several occasions have literally scanned my items with a look of disdain every single time. I honestly feel like I'm a bother just for coming in and buying food for my dogs. At first I thought it was just that one guy with the emo hair cut that just had a bad attitude, but today I encountered Hunter who was basically the same person. Today, I was looking for some birthday stuff for my dog, but couldn't find any. I asked emo guy where the birthday stuff was and he literally dropped the bag of food he was holding so aggressively the bag tore, looked all annoyed, and walked me to the aisle. Super unnecessary. Hunter was at the register and only spoke to tell me what my total was. Why do you have the least enthused, most bothered people of all time at the register? I only come here because it's the closest petsmart to me, but there's a petsmart and a petco not too far up the street in case some of you have the same issues as I do. read more

Have been coming to this PetSmart for over a year now , for food and basic items as well as getting my dog groomed monthly .. never had any issues before, last week we made a grooming appointment and today we just tried to take my dog in and the customer service was an absolute sh** show. They refused to service us without a reason why except that we took our dog in with a muzzle on ( as he likes to bark a lot so we do it for that reason and that reason only) he has no history of biting or being reactive we just did it for the peace and quiet of everyone else and he has gone in there before with one on and it was never an issue but I guess the staff felt like switching it up today. So now I have to go find another place to get my dog groomed last minute because they refused service on an appointment that was previously scheduled with no issues. Please take your money elsewhere cause we most definitely will. read more

They also take lots of breaks between stressful parts of the groom (like trimming nails and blow drying) when I brought my puppy in she got a lot of attention (she's the cutest puppy in the world, so of course she did) and by the time we left she looked brand new! read more

I called petsmart at 10:30 to make an appointment for two dogs, my appointment was at 3:00. I asked them to quote me a price for the service of two dogs and the price that was quoted was $44 each, and $90 for both pets . I gave them all my information about my pets and was told to bring shot records . The conversation lasted about 30 min about what I needed to bring to the dogs 3:00 appointment. I arrived at petsmart at 2:55 pm , showed them my shot records; described the type of haircuts I wanted . Then was quoted $47 per pet. I explained to the employee that when I called to make my appointment they told me it was gonna be $44 per pet and $90 for both . The employee responded that it was gonna be a $3 up charge for the weekend, I responded "why wasn't I quoted that price when I called in ?" The employee then called the store manager, and the store manager then responded saying that the price wasn't going to change and that I would have to pay the three extra dollars . My response was "okay , but I'm going to call corporate. Then the manager refused to service my pets , because I stated that I was going to call corporate. I feel racial discriminated . I asked the manager why she was refusing service, her response was " I feel uncomfortable" racial discrimination is being displayed in san antonio, petsmart, by a white store manager.
