10 months old. Love his face cut and brush out!

I cannot commend the grooming department enough! They did a great job with our wiggly puppy! He was thrilled to be there and was obviously treated with love and care. Karen and the rest of the team were professional and kind. I love that I was notified by phone and text immediately when he was ready and that I could pay online. The facility was clean and welcoming. They made a stressful situation for my elderly father (leaving his puppy) into a lovely experience. We drove from Kerrville because we had difficulty finding a good groomer with availability there and it was so worth it! We will be back! Hopefully a little less wiggly next time, but I wouldn't count on it.

This review is specifically in regards to the grooming salon. For the better part of a year I've debated on whether or not to write something about the Petsmart Grooming salon at The Rim but after our last trip there, I have to. I started taking my dog to get groomed here in 2015. It wasn't until the end of 2017/early 2018 that I noticed the quality of grooming started to decline. First let me say, all of the employees have always been very kind to both myself and my dog. Very nice people- my review isn't about the their attitude or anything like that, just the actual grooming service. I don't know what happened to change things, but every single appointment since the timeframe mentioned above, they butcher my dogs ears and sometimes her face isn't cut evenly. See the pictures attached. It got so bad I eventually asked them to stop cutting her ears - it's a hit or miss as to whether or not they follow my request each appointment. I continued going to this salon for so long because it's $45 and everywhere else in San Antonio is so darn expensive. You get what you pay for, I guess. And no, I didn't say anything when I went to pick her up because honestly, I didn't want to take the risk of them messing her ears up further. I just trimmed them when I got home myself. Unfortunately, this last service sealed the deal for me. I will take my business elsewhere. So, future clients, beware when it comes to how they groom your dog's ears; in my opinion, it's a 50/50 chance on what your dog will come out looking like.

I took my puppy to the grooming salon yesterday and AnnaRose helped me. She was thorough, personable, and listened to my concerns. She did an amazing job with my puppies first hair cut! Couldn't recommend her more!!!

Taz and Kendall not only are great trainers but you can tell they genuinely care about the dogs. Frankly that is the single most important quality I look for in a trainer. *using same review from broadway location since we train at both facilities *…read more In 2021, i thought that my people/dog aggressive blue heeler was unfixable and possessed the potential fate of being put down. It is now Jan 3, 2023 and I am truly so happy with SMS. My consultation was late December 2021 with Austin at the Broadway location. I explained to him my concerns and goals and he was very enthusiastic about Bojack's potential with the program. Austin had me test the e-collar for my own reassurance as an owner. (test was on fatty area of the palm). I never had doubts about using this sort of training tool, especially with a dog like Bojack which I knew needed something more than just a "good boy! here's a pat on the head". Bojack did the 6 day course where he attended a daycare-like setting at the Broadway facility 3 days for 2 weeks. (He was muzzled for each class which I fully supported). After every class, I would get a lesson on what Bojack learned such as how to use the e-collar and the basic commands that follow with it, (heel, place, sit, down, stay, come). Bojack already knew these commands from a previous program he did but I was mostly looking forward to the years' worth of group classes that are included in the price. (these group classes were the absolute selling point for me. I was very dedicated to Bojack's progress). Bo's first group class was Jan 27, 2022. It has been almost an entire year and I truly can't believe the progress he has made with SMS. In these past 12 months, Bo has truly mastered most of the commands and exercises that we do during group class. Bojack has now been accepted into the brand new Advanced II class that will consist of weekly field trips for higher-skilled exercises and a more challenging environment. This is all credited towards the amazing trainers he has seen throughout the year: Patricia and Mike throughout the year, Zach for the last half of the year and Isaac for these past couple weeks. (also a big thank you to all the trainees/newer employees that help run the facility). I am not going to lie, Bojack still has reactivity issues, but I have accepted and so should you, (if you are a severely reactive dog owner), that these behaviors will likely not go away due to many unique reasons. BUT, what you CAN do is learn how to be proactive. Proactivity and consistency is the key for owning dogs like these. You can't expect to drop a couple grand on SMS, not attend any group classes and then expect a cured dog. Those group classes are absolutely vital to you and your dog's training abilities. Being consistent is so important, I can't stress that enough. With the dedication I put into Bo and SMS for the past 12 months, I can now take Bo to any crowded place and feel confident in his ability to execute an excellent heel walk while walking by distractions amongst other commands. Thank you trainers and Lisa for the environment you created, for the training you provided and the confidence you instilled in me and Bo :)

While staff were friendly, the program felt largely misrepresented to us. In October 2024, we enrolled our two dogs (8 y/o + 2 y/o) in a 4-week board-and-train program specifically to address resource guarding. Both dogs had a history of resource guarding, which we had managed successfully, but the behavior had recently escalated and we wanted professional support. We were assured multiple times that resource guarding would be addressed through individualized obedience training. Communication during training was limited. We had to initiate contact, and updates generally indicated that the dogs were doing well. No concerns were raised to us about their behavior or suitability for the program. Upon returning home, our younger dog appeared extremely fearful and hesitant, taking nearly 15 minutes to approach us despite reassurance. During the "live demo," commands like "place" were enforced with excessive e-collar corrections. The dogs seemed confused, stressed, and did not appear to have any understanding of the commands being given. Bad manners, like jumping, were still present even during this session. When we asked how resource guarding had been addressed, the sole reason we signed up, the trainer said, "We never saw this behavior ourselves, so it wasn't addressed," without further elaboration. The dogs displayed resource guarding behaviors during this session, and she instructed us to "just use the e-collar whenever they do something you don't want," which directly contradicted advice from the manager that punishing guarding could significantly worsen it. When we raised concerns multiple times both during this session and afterward, we generally felt dismissed and were told for a long time to "let them adjust" before seeking more training. Our youngest began frequently urinating in her crate, a behavior she had never displayed before. When we asked about this, we were recommended to see a vet. They did offer another training session, but we ultimately felt it was not the right decision to continue with them. A veterinarian confirmed her urination was stress-related, consistent with the behaviors we noticed during the return session. She has since required daily anti-anxiety medication for fear-based behaviors that arose immediately after she returned home. Over a year later, their obedience is unchanged from before the program, and we have had to cope with long-term stress and anxiety for our dogs. We spent about $5,000 on a program that failed to address our primary concern and left lasting negative effects on us. We don't recommend this business and encourage anyone seeking professional training to choose a trainer whose approach is tailored to their dogs' specific needs and training goals.

Hilary picked up our pup Monica and then Aubry, who was a significant part of Monica's training, dropped her off and showed us how to handle our pup now that she has learned her manners. Monica doesn't bark unnecessarily, and knows how to stop barking when asked. She does not run out of the house when I'm unloading groceries. And the craziest thing, she doesn't steal my toddlers food from the coffee table. Walking on a leash without pulling is another miracle she learned while in the care of All Dogs Unleashed. From the very beginning, Dean was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient - not just with Henry, but with us as well. He has a way of making training feel approachable and even fun, which made such a difference as this was our first experience with a dog trainer. Nothing ever felt overwhelming or intimidating. Dean was also very reassuring that a lot of what we have experienced with our Henry was normal puppy behavior. What really stood out to us was how personalized the training was. Dean took the time to understand Henry's personality and our lifestyle, and then tailored everything to fit our home environment. That made it so much easier for us to stay consistent and actually implement what we were learning day-to-day. Henry has learned all of his basic commands and is doing so well. I understand there is limited staff, and I realize they have to turn their attention to other customers and tasks, but I would have liked to watch our dog more through the back windows before committing to leaving her there for the day. I'm guessing there were between 70 and 100 dogs in the play area, and most seemed well-adjusted and content. However, it seemed a bit much, and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving our dog there. She loves playing but could not connect with any specific dog and was overwhelmed by the many dogs showing interest in her. We watched for at most 10 minutes, and the whole time, she was looking to hide, running from the other dogs with her tail between her legs. The staff was present, monitoring behavior and cleaning up, so the issue for me is the number of dogs, not the staff. I asked if there was a maximum number of dogs they allowed, and without a yes or no, I was told the number of kennels they had, which was over 250. The kennels can hold more than one dog at a time, so it's feasible that 300 dogs could be there if all the kennels were full. The kennels are in a climate-controlled warehouse-type area with individual chain-link "suites" and the regular areas. The difference is a little more square footage, and a webcam comes with the suite. I'd summarize this place as the big box store of doggy daycares where you'll get everything you need, but not necessarily the best experience for the pet. This review is based on my personal experience. I am not seeking a refund, to be made whole again, or for changes to be made. It is simply informative.
