I took my dog in for a bath and nail cut. I set it up online and I put my dog's breed and her weight. When I got there the girl who was just sitting around doing nothing said it's going to be $10 more because your dogs breed can grow long hair! My dog has very short hair and I wasn't getting it cut just a bath. I said why would you charge me for long hair when she has very short hair? She said because it can grow long and if you come in again and it's long you will be charged wrong! WHAT!!! Why wouldn't you charge for the length at the time of each visit. Needless to say I will not be bringing my dog there for anything! I do not recommend bring your dog here to get groomed! read more

Unbelievably terribly experience with the grooming group at Riverhead PetSmart. Not only with the service BUT ALSO with how they handled our dissatisfaction with their service. Took our Newfoundland for a full groom (bath and full cut w/ shaving). He was groomed only 2 months prior and so was NOT unkempt but he did have some matting. When we dropped him off, the groomer immediately stated "We are going to need to shave him down completely", which is crazy in and of itself and pointed to her not wanting to groom but rather take the quick route. We made it clear that we would accept an aggressive shaving IF THAT WAS NECESSARY to get the dog groomed, but that we would want him groomed in such a way that he would maintain the Newf styling. We agreed fully that he could be shaved if needed and signed to that effect. We dropped our dog and left for our other appointments only to have multiple calls 30 minutes later (which we could not take due to other appointments) stating that the dog could not be groomed and that they needed to shave him down fully. (This is a 5 year old well looked after dog who has NEVER needed "to be fully shaved down"). What is clear to us that happened is that a completely inexperienced groomer took the clippers to the dogs belly, shaved him unprofessionally and unevenly (photos to support) and then realized that she had gone too far on the belly and now would now need to completely shave the whole animal to make him look even vaguely like a dog. When we finally got the opportunity to call them back we told them that we had already granted permission to shave as necessary before we left the store the first time. They argued that point and we then went to retrieve our dog. What we found was the dog completely unevenly groomed and done in such a way that to complete his cut they would have HAD TO SHAVE HIM COMPLETELY to match the botched work they started. Clearly, they got spooked that oh crap... we messed up and now have no idea how to not make this look like a disaster. They quit before they got in any deeper into trouble. But the damage was done. When we calmly spoke to the "manager on site" regarding the entire event, she wanted nothing to do with an unhappy customer from the get go and proceeded to tell us that her three staff members told a different version of the events and that effectively we should go pound sand. We asked for her name and she reluctantly gave it (no name badge). We asked for her manager's name and she resisted until we made it clear that we would find that person one way or another. When we reached for a piece of paper to write the names down on to follow up tomorrow (today is Sunday) we were scolded for reaching and taking their paper and pen for this purpose. They clearly are trying to cover up a massively horrible job and at no point was there any effort to simply acknowledge the mistake and try and make some form of effort to work with us on some resolution. So today we have the dog home with half a belly fully shaved. Half of two legs partially shaved. And now needing to find someone to finish this mess in any way possible and I cant imagine how anyone can do anything now other than FULLY SHAVE THE DOG DOWN because Petsmart has completely clueless groomers. If they couldn't handle a Newfoundland then they should never have taken him in. Period! Experimenting and trial and error is NOT acceptable and not owning up to this complete failure as a manager should be grounds for termination. If there is a senior Petsmart staffer reviewing these posts you can surely review your onsite camera for the play by play. Disgusting and you should be held accountable for the incompetence of your staff and for the disregard your managers and staff have for the customer. We are not done on this matter and will see this through until the matter is resolved to OUR SATISFACTION. read more

When taking your dog to get bathed, REMIND the groomer all that is included in said bathing package. I got a simple bath and brush for my dog which includes anal glands. I've had this dog for 5 years, and I know when his glands are full and need to be expressed. I went home and got a call from petsmart 40 mins later. That was quick.. When I picked my dog up I asked the woman at the front desk if the groomer did his anal glands. She said she would check with the groomer. She went and asked and I watched the groomer make a face that literally translated to 'I forgot, oh no.' The woman then came back to me and said the groomer said she did it, but "there was nothing that came out". Which translates to me = she never did it. How do you forget to do something that's Included in the package? Why lie to a customer instead of just owning up to your mistake and making it right ? I've taken my dog to many petsmarts in different states and not once in 5 years did the groomer say nothing came out! Because I take my dog when I know it's time. And to confirm what I knew was a lie, the very next day I could smell that foul odor that radiates from a dogs bum when his glands are full smh. Lazy groomers suck ! read more

We have had great experiences at the Riverhead location. We had some concerns taking Tucker to Petsmart, but we don't anymore. You can literally watch your pet get groomed if need be...now that we can pick his groomer we are never worried about not being cared for. read more

I have a finicky French Bulldog with skin allergies and the grooming salon at this PetSmart is great with him. They are tentative to his allergies and patient with how fidgety he gets. I always pick him up happier than he was when I dropped him off. read more

I absolutely love this store. The staff is great and greet you upon walking in and offer their assistance while your shopping. I find their prices to be better then petco with certain things. I've heard amazing things about their dog trainer Alyssa. I'm hoping to get my puppy in soon! read more

I have a shiba and they always for a great job with her. She loves going there, she sees them and smiles.

I brought my dachshund to get a nail trim and everyone in the salon was very helpful. Very professional and complimentary of my dog. The salon is new and beautiful, very clean. This by far has to be the worst, grooming experience. For both my dog and I. They didn't even wash my dog and charged me 57 for a service. He eyes weren't cleaned, ears,nails weren't trimmed, smelled very foul. I will never come back to PetSmart. And the girls have 0 experience. read more

I attempted to order 2 items, a couple of weeks ago on line, for curbside pickup. I couldn't complete the order and became frustrated. I wrote down every detail of the order including total with tax. I went into the store and collected the items. To my surprise, it came to a few dollars more! I said to Phil, I think that was his name, this must be a mistake. He was very nice and sweet, even though there was a line behind me. He checked his cell phone and I believe he saw the error but didn't know how to make the correction. He called for help, and eventually a man at the next register came to help. I began to explain and was quickly shut down with "i know what's the problem, just because you say that's the price doesn't mean I have to give it to you!" Did you look at the store or internet? I was sure I looked at the store. After playing around at the register he said " I KNOW YOUR ON A FIXED INCOME, I'LL GIVE IT TO YOU THIS TIME". Everyone is on a fixed income! I never raised my voice, or was rude in any way. I just wasn't going to be cheated. Giving me what was fare was not a favor. When I attempted to give him my note on the correct price, he made a point of saying he didn't want it, and put it in the garbage next to the register. The first man at the register was very professional, I hope he doesn't take a lesson from his supervisor. I'm doing all my future shopping from another business on line! read more
