Adequate. Nothing amazing. They do carry some decent high end foods which is nice... but it's also pretty expensive. More expensive than necessary. I was also not too impressed with their selection of cleaning products. It's either Nature's Miracle or some cheapie brand. Nothing else. I was looking specifically for Simple Solution which is a pet care product they used to carry. Disappointed it wasn't there today. I did get a nice selection of treats for my cats and dogs including freeze dried chicken for the cats and freeze dried veggies for the dogs. At least the treat selection is nice. My kids appreciate that. read more

This review is for Raquel, the dog trainer. She is a miracle worker! I signed my puppy up for beginner classes and couldn't be happier with the results! Raquel is very patient, explains everything in great detail and genuinely loves all dogs. My dog no longer chews up my expensive boots yay! Lol. Raquel will answer all your questions even if they don't pertain to dog training. We will be back in June for the next level of training classes. Raquel is AWESOME!!! read more

I like this Pet Smart better than the PetCo in Vallejo, but they always make me wait a long time to be served. I buy 2 crickets a week here and the staff is never back by the fish and other staff just walks around and around ignoring those of us waiting. They don't even make eye contact. If you ask the front to send someone there, they always reply, "someone is back there." Yeah, people are back here, not helping the people who are waiting. But it's still better than the PetCo in Vallejo. read more

This is the new location, the place is kind of smaller than the previous one and the parking is limited compare to the previous one, but its complete next to it is banfield pet hospital. The Staff are cheerful and really love animals. My dog enjoys it so much every time we shop in here. Good job guys. read more

My experiences here have always been top notch. I come here from Richmond solely because I've always received great service. I used to work at a small feed and pet store and now I come here for my crickets and the occasional pet toy. I wholeheartedly support small stores but also really enjoy when corporate stores can bring out great customer service. One such experience has been when my boyfriend has bought crickets from here and they price matched the crickets at the vivarium in Berkeley for 3 cents! Very convenient for us when our 3 beardies are hungry. Another was today when I did an online order for store pickup and, due to lack of attention, I put in my wrong email. I called and the associate was very friendly and helpful and pointed me towards the manager who not only gave me the 1800 number to fix my email but offered to call me when my order was ready. Thank you for showing corporate stores can show great customer care. read more

Horrible experience and very disappointed i went in with my 2 pups came in and saw fresh urine and old dried up urine also saw smeared fecal matter with a fresh fecal right next to it .... seriously there was 2 caution signs up.. I said hmmm its not busy why isn't anybody cleaning this?.. I was there for almost 20 minutes because I weighed my pups I did meet and greets with other pups so my puppy gets socialized.. im in line and I look over and the urine and fecal is still there ..I ask a young employee there I have been here for almost 20 minutes do you guys usually leave urine and stool out for this long?? She responds with yea and she shrugs her shoulders... wow!!!! I dont think employees there are educated on whats wrong with that picture disease bacteria ????. I get to the cashier and pay for my things and ask the cashier can I speak to your supeevisor?? She looks at me with attitude I look at her and smile The supervisor walks up and I ask her I have been here for almost 20 minutes and noone has picked up the fecal and urine over there on that isle is that normal for you to leave that for so long??..she replies o no no I didn't see it and she started to clean it .. The cashier didn't even say bye thank you have a good day after i asked the supeevisor that.. why did it take for me to say something for it to be cleaned??? Why didn't the young dumb employee clean it ?? Its part of your job to clean up after dogs if their dumb owners don't.. Employees need to be educated and start cleaning right away and not just put caurion signs up. read more

I visit often since this P.S is the closest pet store to me. About a year ago I got some fish when I started my 10G and got a tiny snail added with my fish. 2 months later I had about 10 snails over night. That soon turned to new snails every few days until I had to finally get a new fish tank & filter. They have these tiny black snails EVERYWHERE in all the fish tanks. I could be wrong but I heard that the filter system pipes are all connected in the back so when the snails lay their eggs in the filter cartons they travel and now all the tanks have them. I have not bought any fish from here since but I recently bought a crested gecko and when I got home I was holding him before putting him into his tub I noticed the tip of his tail looks like it was bitten or it had been caught in something.. it will probably fall off eventually. I also noticed on one of his feet two of his toes grew stuck together. I don't really mind since he doesn't seem to be in any pain but I will not be buying any reptiles or fish from PetSmart from now on. The dog trainer they have there is awesome though and I would recommend classes with her. read more

I've been a long time customer and I have never had no complaints but seriously this pissed me off two days in a row they call me to reschedule my appointment for the groomer because two different groomers call out sick back to back... they offer me a 20%off if I could reschedule it but I said no, that's not right and my dog is a small Shih Tzu and the service I got was only a bath and haircut nothing fancy all they said was sorry.. i don't live out here but I stay in Pittsburg and they can't even give me a better solution but 20% off. WTH this is not right I don't think I'll be coming here anytime soon they really got me upset....!!!!!!! read more

I regularly shop at the store for cat food, and I just have to write about what I've seen each and every time I visit here. The kittens' area (from Goldie & Papi's rescue) is a HUGE MESS: food all over the place, litter full, and kittens squished together in this mess. This is VERY bad for the kittens. I adopted 2 kittens from this store in June, and it took THREE FULL MONTHS before both kittens were no longer sick (both had colds when I adopted them). Now, I'm giving them both medication for Giardia, which they ALSO had when I adopted them. (I have no idea what the situation looks like at Goldie & Papi's, but I'd wager it's no better than the public space at PetSmart.) This review is NOT meant to stop people from adopting at PetSmart--those kittens need good forever homes. However, the staff is pretty clueless when it comes to caring for the kittens in the store, and somebody really needs to step up and take care of managing that area more effectively. Please take a look for yourself and, if you agree, say something to someone--staff, manager, other customers. I do, each time. Maybe we can shame this PetSmart into taking better care of the kittens so they are not sick when they are adopted out and they don't suffer in that mess. read more

They are always out of stock of certain prescription Science Diet dog foods, which is so frustrating because you can't find it anywhere. When I ask if they will reorder, the store always refuses, saying, it's up to corporate to reorder based on a schedule. I'm not sure how having an empty shelf from a business stand point makes any sense, but okay. Guess I'll have to order online. You are losing your customers by not reordering items that are out of stock or changing the number of bags ordered at a time. Also, all the people who work there are very young and rude. The stock boy literally walked away from me as I was asking him a question. Won't be returning. Not like you ever have the food i need anyway. read more

I stuck with Melissa and she has been wonderful ever since the incident back in 2012. She is professional and has moved to another location and I have followed her there. I placed an online order today 9/19/20 at 6:16 pm for my husband to pickup dog food and 2 stuffed animals because I'm home sick. At 7:30 pm my husband went into the store to pick up order. He walked in store, 2 customers at counter and 2 employees talking in the office. The order wasn't ready when he got there. The Acting Manager "Amanda" told him she had until the end of the day to pick the order. So does that mean "Amanda" was going to pick the order at 9pm after the Store is closed? How odd... Amanda told my husband it would take 20 minutes to pull the order. He said 20 minutes? I'll go grab the dog food, she told him Go Ahead and do that. He told her to get the stuffed animals. The whole process took 3 minutes not 20 minutes I then called the store and asked who the acting Manager was and she said her name is Amanda. I asked her why the order wasn't ready when she was sitting in the office and she said she has a lot of stuff to do like stock the shelves and then she HUNG UP ON ME. I go the this store all the time and have never been treated so badly. I'm home sick and was ordering online to make things easier for my husband. What the heck do you have store pick up for if the order isn't ready within 1 hour? This episode displayed BAD Customer service. My husband and I both work retail. I've been a District Manager for years. If Amanda was working for me I would definitely have her retake any courses with the topic, Customer Service. read more

I am a parent of six cats and have worked in the pet industry for five years and never in my five years have I seen a dog trainer abuse his own dog in front of customers like I did today. The cashier was trying to justify his actions by saying it was ok because it was his own dog. His actions were not only cruel but unprofessional. I would not allow him to handle my dog in any training dog sessions because clearly he's an aggressive individual. There are other ways in handling a dog that is being passive - aggressive towards another dog...kicking him in the ribs is not one of them!!! read more

The only reason I'm giving Petsmart a five star is because of an employee of Banfield.Quinnce helped me with a dog I found in the parking lot of TJ MAXX. Until yesterday, I would have recommended their grooming salon. But, after that experience I will never take my dog back there again! First, they asked me if I flea treat my dog, which is usual, and I told them no (because I knew my dog didn't have fleas). When my dog was finally ready, they gave me the receipt and they treated him with some flea shampoo which I didn't ask for. I didn't mind that too much. But then I woke up this morning with a bite on my leg and then I saw my dog throughout the day acting weird and being really jumpy. I inspected him and saw a FLEA! I'm pretty mad about it since I know for a fact that my dog didn't have fleas prior to getting him groomed there, and since they "treated" him with the shampoo WITHOUT my consent, why does he have fleas now? Not very sanitary, but I guess it's not their fault if other people bring their dogs there with fleas... but that's still pretty disgusting if they don't clean after them. Also, after I found the flea I looked at my dog thoroughly and saw that they clipped his nails way too short that it was bleeding. Never going back there again! read more

NEVER GET YOUR PET GROOMED HERE. The groomer Angel cut and hit our 2 year old maltese. When we picked her up she was shivering, and a cut on her groin and a blood red eye. The vet said the eye looked like "blunt force trauma". When I confronted Angel, first he called me a liar, then he said that it was an accident, then he said it was my dogs fault! Then he threatened me and had to be physically restrained by the store manager. Despite it being in plain sight of other customers and it all being on camera, so far no one from the store has followed up or apologized. If you love your animal - STAY AWAY from this place. read more

I've been coming to this PetSmart for years and generally always have good experiences, but today I had the worst service of my pet owner life. I made a trip to exchange some pet food that had been recalled when I was met by a very helpful young girl named Mariana who helped us find the right food for my small dog. Mariana escorted us to the line where she explained how to properly introduce the new food. The cashier who I can only describe by her rotting teeth and unkept appearance proceeded to complicate my exchange when she asked me to step aside to call my dog sitter for the rewards number that was used to then say the number wasn't even necessary. When I returned to the line she told me I should've gone to the end of the line when I ultimately shouldn't have even been asked to step aside when the number was irrelevant to the exchange. This woman made snarky remarks about my customer etiquette to the woman behind me who was also not amused by her lack of professionalism. As I was paying the difference she was huffing and puffing about counting the change and announced loudly how glad she was to take a break which also bothered the customer behind me. This woman made everyone so uncomfortable and I don't think I'll return to this location again. Hate to see the drastic change in staff read more

Friendly associates, but the manager, Casey, of course was not so very pleasant. She gave me a hard time trying to return a leash. When she came to the register, she did not greet me or even ask how she can help. She just straight up told me that she could only replace a leash, and not give me a refund. It makes no sense to exchange a leash for the same leash for it to snap off again. After trying to tell her why I didn't want to do an exchange. She just rolled her eyes, threw hella attitude, and told the cashier to just give me my refund, and finally walked away. read more

Went in today for a simple mani/pedi, just to warn you it wasn't a good experience. The lack of training is appalling, there should be regular inspections made by animal control service to confirm that PetSmart is hiring certified people to service their clientele. Brought my dog at 730am!!! And they didn't finish till 1130! Every time this happens. I'm done with this place.

This place is the worst place EVER for grooming. I brought him in multiple times and he still looks like he needs a bath. His nails were still too long and his ears still had a funk to them. Spend your dollars elsewhere. I don't think they are skilled at grooming at all. read more

I took my dog to get a hair cut a lil bit ago and when i picked my poodle up they told me he had been bad and that he had just a small clip on his hear from the trimmers. That small clip was the tip of his ear that got cut off. Long story short, our vet thought our poodles ear might need to be amputated beccause of how bad it was and how much my dog kept shaking his poor head. He would sit in a corner and just shake after the expierence. The manager couldn't care less. He only refunded the haircut fee and offered nothing else. I tell everyone this story when they say they take their anmals here. read more

I recently purchased a cat tree from this location. The jury is still out on whether my cat likes it. The tree was on sale for a very reasonable price. I have been to Petsmarts grooming service in Pinole half a dozen times at least, but today is the last. cutting up my membership card today. if you're going to go, be sure to arrive late, because your groomer won't be on time, and all the other people working there will be too busy to help you, even to take your dog for you until your groomer decides to show up, even if you explain you just had work on your knee and can't stand there waiting anymore. no one will apologize or offer you a chair of any kind. Don't tip them , because they clearly don't give a shit. and 3 times out of 5, they cut my dog's ears the wrong way. terrible, terrible service. absolutely no customer srrvice training. read more

Terrible service, rude-I have been trying for the last few months to get my dog grooming appointment, impossible, the girls on the other end of the phone were completely rude, the online website would not let me do it, I called the corporate number I don't even get an apology - I asked the lady Valerie at corporate if they still wanted my business, and she told me that's up to me -I guess Petsmart does not know how to do business with customers therefore I'm taking my business elsewhere-I asked to speak to the boss of Valerie, and she hung up the phone on me read more

I spent over 15 minutes calling both the store and grooming salon repeatedly until I finally got through! I made an appointment and was even given a text confirmation that my dogs appointment was at 10AM and when she arrived they said it was booked at 11:30AM due to the fault of a Manger who was no longer there. What saved this review from being a 1 Star Review was Angelica in grooming. She had great customer service, phone etiquette, and was super helpful! What will now determine if I continue getting my dogs grooming again will be the result of the cut. (fingers crossed). read more

Great selection of pet products, plenty of parking and Banfield Pet Hospital directly inside. These are the perks of this place. Customer service gets a thumbs down. I am here often to purchase dog food and the cashiers always look annoyed or mad about something. No greeting but then again I am in and out rather quickly which is a plus. The grooming is okay, they do a great job but one incident left a sour note in my mouth. I scheduled my Chihuahua for bath/grooming appointment and this was his first time at PetSmart. To make a long story short, the dog bather that he was scheduled with called me within 5 minutes of dropping my dog off to say that he cannot bathe my dog. He said he tried to take him out of the cage and my dog latched on to his thumb and was pooping all over the place. Sounds pretty dramatic right? He proceeded to tell me that he's being aggressive. Luckily I was close by and rushed over. I expected to see a bloody thumbed and my poor dog stinky from stepping in the poop that was "apparently all over" according to the team member. I was expecting the worst indeed! Total exaggeration! I didn't see any of that but did notice that my dog had a small cut on his right, front paw from who knows what. That made me question who was really hurt here, but I left it and took my poor, shaky dog home and rescheduled it with another team member instead. I still take my dog there but will not book my dog with that guy again. My dog doesn't have any problems with the other workers there. read more

I really don't like the grooming service at this Petsmart. I always ask them to give my sheltie a brush, wash, toothbrush, and sanitary cut. They even repeated to me the things that I requested, so it seems to me that they understand what they're doing. Apparently, they don't. For the past three groomings, my dog has NOT received a sanitary cut, which is included in the brush and wash price. This absolutely annoys me because my dog has long rear hair and when the hair is not short, stuff sticks to it. Yuck! So, this Petsmart grooming salon doesn't understand the services they offer. It's not worth my time to go back and get my dog's hair trimmed, I just figured I should never go back. Yes, it's that bad. This is on top of numerous occasions of them botching my dog's hair. read more

I have taken my dog to this particular Pet Smart for grooming services for many years, and I have always received Okay--Great service until recently. To make a long story short, due to my dog returning itchy & traumatized, I only allowed him to receive a haircut in my presence. On our last visit, before his service the manager of that department informed me that I would have to pay full price, although he would only receive a cut. Therefore, I told her we would not be returning! We are not rich & don't have money to throw away on services my dog is not receiving. read more
