I recently rescued a 11 year old dog and I have taken her here twice now. The first time, the lady that took her back was SO sweet and kind and I felt comfortable leaving her with the groomer. Today on the other hand was awful. I left there in tears. I dropped off my dog and when I mentioned that we rescued her and she doesnt walk on a leash very well, instead of the lady just picking her up (shes less than 20 pounds), she decided to drag her on the leash right in front of us. Our dog was laying on the ground and was being dragged by her neck. I couldnt believe my eyes. I am so sad and disappointed. I went back to my car in tears and wish I would have went back in and gotten her but I was too anxious and angry at the time. I just can't believe she thought that was okay to do. I head to the clearance end caps and always find great treasures at amazing deals. I downloaded the App and this is where I get the best value with bonus points from month to month. The staff is very knowledgable. One of the managers assisting with reptiles actually moonlights at the Doory Zoo so she knew what answers to give even before I knew what questions to ask! Everyone is super friendly and the layout makes sense. Saturdays are very busy with dogs going to training, grooming and just browsing the aisles. Our two month old puppy got her first nail and hair trim at the pet salon. We were a bit weary at first because we wanted to find a groomer not part of a chain, but we were in a pinch. This poor pup needed a nail trip and hair trim around her eyes. We called same day and they were able to accommodate us within the hour as they weren't that busy. The staff was so friendly and made us feel at ease to leave our pup with them. There is a window so if you want to watch your pup get their hair and nails did you def can! They call over the intercom and/or text you that your pup is ready. We did some shopping while we waited for her around PetSmart. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and we are happy we found a spot we can take our pup when we're in this area! First time taking our cat here just get her nails trimmed. After just sitting down to wait, the groomer comes out to me with the cat still inside the carrier. She tells me, "She won't let me get her out of the carrier". So, I put the carrier on the bench, unzip it, and take the cat out. The groomer says, "Oh no, she won't let me take her out. I have to be able to get her out of the carrier, trim her claws, then put her back." I have taken this cat to other groomers to get her nails trimmed. NEVER had a problem. The cat is small and docile. The groomer just said, "Sorry, we can't do it." in a snide tone, and then quickly left. If you have any experience grooming cats, craw trimming should be a no-brainer. I was hoping to have PetSmart as our regular place for nail trimming and grooming, but after this negative experience, we won't waste our time there. read more

A couple of weeks ago, we took our German Shepherd to the groomer to get a cut, wash, and removal of excess fur. We had taken her there before and we were pleased with the results. However, after this time, half of the normal procedural cuts were not done such as paws, and her privates were not clippered, which was what our Vet told us she needed. Though the Groomer Area manager was apologetic and did those cuts after we arrived to pick her up, now she is super anxious and fearful when we take her to wash and brush. Not a consistently terrible experience, and we appreciated the Manager taking charge, if you go here be careful which groomer you get. read more

Set appointment went in to store for appointment and after an hour of waiting asked how much longer and was told it would be 30 minutes to an hour longer. When I asked why they then tell me oh its atleast a 2 hour wi dow or more for appointments. Wish they would have told me that at the Time of appointment so I did not schedule another appointment for 2 hours after this appointment. read more

I tend to go to This PetSmart over the other ones as it seems bigger and is always fairly clean . I walked in this particular day to pick up supplies for one kid my aquariums and noticed the cashier sitting on the counter at the register on her phone . Somewhat disturbed why someone would even be doing that , when they could be "fixing " up a display , I figured she would get down eventually . They had plenty of aquarium plants to choose from as it seemed that they just got a stock and they were healthy . Picked the one I was after , took a look at the Bettas , some of them seemed on the verge of dying , but that is nothing new at these Pet Stores ( wish they would not "stock " so many to give the ones there a fighting chance to get a home and not die on the shelf ) . Picked up some dog food along with the plant and headed to checkout . Same cashier was siting in the smS spot , complaining to a co-worker on how tired she was . I get it , but , it really is in professional looking to be sitting there especially for that long . I do like coming in here , it's fun looking around , wish the employees just cared more about what they should be doing . read more

I understand that times are hard right now, but if they are not allowed to take returns or exchanges, they need to have signs saying so. Or at least have their employees notify you of this at checkout when purchasing a large item. I called to ask about exchanges today, and I am frustrated that when I asked if they plan to extend their return policy, when they can take returns again, to cover items purchased during the pandemic if it is outside their normal return window, the answer I got was "I don't know, we will try." We need to purchase another kennel now, but we will be buying it elsewhere. read more

Noticed that my dogs ears were starting to get kind of dirty so I wanted to get his ears flushed or cleaned, and I don't know exactly how to do it. I saw that petsmart was offering a service for puppies that included a bath along with nail trim and ear flushing, so I saw that as a plus since I've been having trouble clipping his nails due to his nails being black and I'm afraid of clipping him. I brought him in today expecting to receive the services that was advertised online. However, when I went to go pick him up he look cleaned first glance, until I look into his ears and noticed they were basically untouched. I went back in the salon and asked if they cleaned his ears and the lady said she "just wiped them", which I found to be untrue since they literally looked untouched. I would've been ok if she was just like "oh, I forgot let me fix them", but she sat there and lied to me about cleaning my dogs ears. I was pretty upset because my reason of booking this appointment was to get my dogs ears cleaned and they couldn't even do that. I just wish they didn't advertise it as part of the puppy wash, then maybe I can understand why I didn't get done. It just seems like instead of actually taking their time and doing the services that is advertised, they are just rushing to get to the next dog without completing the full service. I have only come here to buy dog products, which is what I would recommend at this location considering the terrible reviews. I'm giving PetSmart 5 stars because my recent trip resulted in really cute and CHEAP Halloween costumes. I came here Saturday (3 days before Halloween). They had only a few costumes left, but all costumes and some Halloween toys were only $1 each! I got my tinier Shih Tzu a dinosaur costume and a bumble bee costume. I got my bigger Shih Tzu a Pokemon costume that doubles as a knapsack. The staff were really friendly and helpful. One staff member even looked through several boxes of leftover Halloween products to see if there were any other costumes for my small dogs. Yay for great deals! read more

Really love pet smart they have been helping us out with the puppy we got on a farm my daughter knows. And they have a booklet with lots of coupons over worth $280.00 you buy only for $19.99 great deal. Free bath for your puppy, $2.00 off one bowl dish, a lot of other things to get you and your puppy started! You can even bring your puppy in the store as long as it has a leash as well. The staff is friendly. Also one time a few years back with our older dog we where walking her at night for our summer nights walk and a skunk sprayed her. Will petsmart was locking there doors but we told the lady our dog got sprayed by a skunk and we needed something for her bath, this lady open the door showed us the shampoo to get the smell out of our dog that worked wonders! We've been taking our dog to Pet Smart for a while and thought it was an overall good experience. But today they "finished" my dog in an hour and he is NOT clean. Also, I asked for a bath and grooming package that included nail clipping but instead got charged $15 extra for nail clipping. When I pointed out the problem they said they decided the dog needed his nails ground down instead of clipped without checking with me. They didn't see this as a problem. The funniest/sad part of the experience is as I was dropping my pupper off the staff person was already writing out the note they hand you when you pick up that says "Your dog was awesome." Um....ok? But next time how about following my requests for service and actually cleaning the dog? read more

The good: I have taken my mini Pomeranian to get her hair groomed to PetSmart for over 4 years. Her groomer was always Courtney and she was awesome. She moved out of town and now the recent experience I had was beyond terrible. I took her in hoping they could provide the same great service but from the moment I booked her appointment it was a cluster. I called to book the appointment and was put on hold several times before I finally got my appointment made. It didn't bother me at the time because I'm a pretty patient person. The bad: Then when I brought her in, I provided very clear steps on how Courtney groomed my dog and what to do. They lady said she needed to use the "furmagtor" on my dog to get the tangles out and she tested it to be sure. I was a little worried at this time because the groomer seemed a little confrontational. She gave me the impression she was annoyed that she was going to have to groom my dog. I suppose if my dog was covered in filth and such maybe I could understand her annoyance but I have a 3 pound house dog. I never once got such treatment before so it actually hurt my feelings. She literally made me feel like a bad pet owner because I didn't have a perfectly groomed dog before I brought her to be groomed. She told me it would take 3 1/2 hours and they would call me when done and I left. The ugly: I got the voicemail my Pom was done 3 hours later and it wasn't my usual call. She stated in the voicemail that my dog was screaming and they couldn't get the haircut done. Strange, I thought. That has literally never happened in over 4 years I've been taking her. They also told me that I needed to get there as soon as possible to pick my dog up. My husband called there and asked all the questions about what happened and let them know that this was a first. I immediately went there to pick her up and when I saw my dog I was appalled. They literally did nothing except clip her nails. It was so weird. Why keep her there for 3 hours? Why didn't they call me earlier to let me know? My dog also looked like she got punched in the eye. No answers to any of my questions. A manager came and spoke to me and said the dog's safety was in question so that's why they couldn't groom her. I guess they were protecting my dog from their violent grooming skills. No clue. I let them know I'll just find another groomer and I was sad that I couldn't continue to get the same service I had received with Courtney. They said they don't know Courtney and said good luck in my search for a new groomer. Clearly they could care less about my business and didn't appreciate Courtney (even though I wrote numerous thank you cards, Christmas gifts, etc for her great work). Just terrible that they don't care about grooming your dog properly and have no customer service skills to encourage customer loyalty. I suggest to go support a local business owner that cares about their customer. read more

It's a fine pet store. It's right by our house and it's always busy there. They have good selections. If you want something special buy it online. A store can only have so much. I have a dog and a cat. I buy their food online instead. But I get their toys treats etc from PetSmart. Their option to buy things online and pick up in store saves you money and has always gone smoothly for me. I also bring my dog in to get her nails grinded. I just love this Petsmart location at Shadow Lake! Its always well stocked and organized. The store is clean and well kept and the staff is so friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of animals including fish and hamsters.The staff is very knowledgeable on all the animals and their care so you know you're getting good information when you ask. The prices are fair and they always have great deals! However, the trainers for the pet training are very rude and don't seem to have the best training themselves. read more

Until PetSmart provides a safe home for their hermit crabs, we will never purchase hermit crabs from them again. We bough 3 crabs, two of which were already dead for days. We took them back and got two more. The next day we checked on them and one of the crabs limbs fell off. I'm not sure if they forgot they were hermit crabs, because they need at least 3-6 inches of soil to dig and they had less than one inch. They deserve the best care they can get and PetSmart is doing less than the bare minimum. No animal being sold at a pet store deserves to suffer like that. PetSmart needs to do better for their animals. I don't know how they didn't know the crabs were already dead. It's awful what they do. read more

I have no idea what's going on with this location- We have a Lab that is unbelievably intelligent- He is trained in Search & Rescue and also works with the disable, children and is certified to go into nursing homes. My fur baby is a friend to everyone. He has never had a problem with anyone. My baby was sprayed by a skunk and had to be washed- I'm not really big on leaving him anywhere or letting him out of my sight. Between the money we spent securing him into our home and the time we have invested, I don't trust anyone with him that I don't know extremely well. So, this was a very rare incident where I had no choice. I'm highly allergic to sulfur and one of the main chemicals in skunk spray is sulfur dioxide, so I was unable to bath him myself. When I picked him up, he had a gash on the inside of his front right paw that was about 6 inches long. The little girl who brought him out said: "Oh he doesn't like to be put into a kennel." - This is an absolute lie! My dog has gone into a kennel on his own since he was 8 weeks old. He will even open the door go in and close the door once he in. My dog has a vocabulary of over 150 words, so he will "Do" whatever he is told to do. This was absolutely insane! There is no way a gash of that size was simply him not wanting to go into a kennel. Mind you, this is a Canine that is certified as a SAR as well as being an AKC Good Citizen, a participant in Tail Waggin Tutors and a regular visitor to Senior Retirement Facilities. My dog has traveled the globe and has been in and out of more countries than most of the Americans that I encounter. It was extremely hard for me to believe that- A dog who can go through TSA screening at any Airport with hardly any direction then sit on a rubber mat to wait for his handler & myself to go through- had difficulty going into a kennel and laying down. Additionally, when we returned to this location to look at toys and possibly treats, my dog immediately urinated when he saw the glass door of the grooming section of the store. For a trained dog (*who only relieves himself when told to) to uncontrollably urinate and shake alerts me to the fact that something was done to him. NEVER, EVER leave your animal at this location! Absolutely nightmarish! -I feel extremely lucky that I didn't have any other injuries and that my Canine has recovered from the physical injury. (His paw was treated and stayed bandaged for 5 days with the injury being cleaned and treated each day) - I just wish I would have known in advance what the history was at this location. NEVER, never again! -I won't even take him in the location to look for toys, he is still emotionally scared from whatever they did while I wasn't present. Forewarned is forearmed... read more

Took Lola our beloved Chesapeake to PetSmart to get some treats and a new collar and leash. Lola when she was younger was traumatized by fireworks and is now terrified of loud noises like thunder. While in the store we were trying on the collars and there was a loud crash coming from the north aisle. Lola was immediately pulling away and trying to escape. I looked down the aisle and noticed a wet floor sign tipped over and hoped that was the end of it. Moments later another crash and the same terrified response from Lola. I said in a loud voice, "whoever is doing that needs to stop." No response. Lola was dragging me to the door. Another clerk ask if she could help and I said "whoever keeps dropping that thing over there needs to stop, they are terrifying my dog." Another employee in the north aisle shouted back "its part of a training class that they ARE PAYING FOR." I responded, "I have over $150 of merchandise and I'm not taking it, and I will NEVER be back." They need to find a place to have loud training like that besides in the store where other people are shopping. They also need to fire the older lady that was conducting the training. She had zero compassion for the other animals or customers in the store. I will never go back. Petco isn't that far away, and Tractor Supply has a great supply of pet items at good prices. read more

This place is unbelievable. DO NOT waste your money. We have been to this store because it is close to where we live. As of last week, we will never go again. First off, this store is too small and too much crap is everywhere. You must walk in single file down the main walkway, and if someone is coming from the other direction, one of you will have to step into an aisle. Second, they NEVER have anything in stock. If you ask someone to check to see if any is in the back, they say there isn't. We use a special kind of dog food and there is usually none here. We now use Chewy.com and have never had any issues with it. read more

Title: Had to put our dog down because of this locations untrained groomers. - We took our puppy Josie to get a haircut. When we picked her up, her back was bleeding for them cutting a mole off. They said the cut was free but do not bring her back, she's to old ...... I was very disappointed that they didn't apologize. Then we noticed a few days later our Josies eye was shut. The another few days went but and it was pussing. Too her to the vet and found out her eye was cut. One week later due to the infection, even after all of the meds and options, we had to put our poor baby down. The store refuses to acknowledge the issue and rejects any blame. It all happened so fast, we were not going to desecrate her buy keeping her from going to heaven to prove it. And the vet will not state that Petsmart hair groomers scissors did it on the paperwork. So we lost our pup and have no recourse. These people out not properly trained! All we can do is recover from her death and move on to warn others. read more

When I asked for his boss, at least he had the sense to go look why the had a tank full of dead crabs and several dead fish. A customer should be able to say no I'm not interested in your perks/plus card once and have it be done. I was asked by cashier #398515 three times and when I became irritated and said ENOUGH, I get attitude back from her...I don't think so! I have always found the PetSmart employees friendly and helpful. Those at Banfield Pet Hospital are the best! We were able to get our sick Yorkie in for an appointment within a couple hours of calling. Dr. Miller and the technician were excellent. Dr. Miller examined the pup after asking questions, explained what may be going on, what tests she would suggest, and after all were done she discussed results and options of treatment. Her recommendations resulted in a rapid recovery for our pet. I would highly recommend Banfield. Later, Rebecca groomed our Yorkie and he never looked better! We even got a handwritten summary of all she did during his "spa treatment." read more
